Full textData in the form of strings are varied (DNA, text, quantify EEG) and cannot always be modeled. A universal description of strings, independent of probabilities, is thus necessary. The Kolmogorov complexity was introduced in 1960 to address the issue. The principle is simple: a string is complex if a short description of it does not exist. The Kolmogorov complexity is the counterpart of the Shannon entropy and defines the algorithmic information theory. Yet, the Kolmogorov complexity is not computable in finit time making it unusable in practice. The first ones to make operational the Kolmogorov complexity are Lempel and Ziv in 1976 who proposed to restrain the operations of the description. Another approach uses the size of the compressed string by a lossless data compression algorithm. Yet these two estimators are not well-defined regarding the joint and conditional complexity cases. So, compressors and Lempel-Ziv complexity are not valuable to estimate algorithmic information theory. In the light of this observation, we introduce a new universal information measure based on the Lempel-Ziv complexity called SALZA. The implementation and the good definition of our measure allow computing efficiently values of the algorithmic information theory.Usual lossless compressors have been used by Cilibrasi and Vitányi to define a very popular universal classifier: the normalized compression distance [NCD]. As part of this application, we introduce our own estimator, called the NSD, and we show that the NSD is a universal semi-distance between strings. NSD surpasses NCD because it gets used to a large data set and uses the adapted conditioning with SALZA.Using the accurate universal prediction quality of the Lempel-Ziv complexity, we explore the question of causality inference. At first, we compute the algorithmic causal Markov condition thanks to SALZA. Then we define, for the first time, the algorithmic directed information and based on it we introduce the algorithmic Granger causality. The relevance of our approach is demonstrated on real and synthetic data

Full textThe main purpose of this work was to explore the links between the expression of internality, the internality clearsightedness and the explanatory production activity of pupils aged from 9 to 15 years old. It was checked that the norm of internality had an effect on the explanatory production activity: the normative aspect of internal explanations appeared, but it was more ascribable to the unstable internal explanations than to the stable internal explanations. The internality questionnaires made with these explanatory statements lent themselves to the manipulation of the self-presentation instructions, allowed replication of the development of internality with the school level, and had a satisfactory convergent validity. Finally, it was observed that the explanatory production satisfied more the evaluative relations when the internality clearsightedness was higher. This last result attests to the distinctive status of the normative clearsightedness in the psychosocial field

Full textThe notion of risk is doubly uncertain: it contains an irreducible part of hazard as its realization in damage on the one hand, and its lack of definition by the law on the other. However, this gap is at odds, both with the exponential use of the notion of risk in criminal law, whether substantive or form, and with the principle of legality of offences and sentences, which implies that the legislator defines clearly and precisely the notions and concepts to which it refers. That is the reason why the legitimacy of the use of the notion of risk in criminal law can be questionable. The presence of such an uncertain notion in a field involving the fundamental rights of the person is likely to jeopardize the imperatives of the State of laws. Moreover, the criminal law of anticipation, which aims to prevent the occurrence of possible but uncertain interference with a protected right, is criticized. The purpose of this demonstration is therefore to know whether or not the legislature uses wisely the notion of risk in criminal law. The answer to this issue will previously require to ensure that criminal law is actually legitimate to focus on the notion of risk. This is not because the legislature takes into account a notion that its account is necessarily legitimate. Moreover, it is important to keep in mind that risk and the criminal law are inherently contradictory: the risk is uncertain, immaterial and is linked to the concept of prevention while the criminal law is the right of repression, the materiality and the certainty. A deep study of their respective natures will nevertheless make it possible to overcome the contradiction, stating that the criminal law is theoretically legitimate to accept the notion of risk. This legitimacy stays nonetheless quite precarious. To secure this legitimacy, only a certain kind of risk, a risk with a managed level can be taken into account. If the legislator claims using the notion of risk in criminal law for anticipated criminal protection of society, he still cannot ignore the principles that are applicable in criminal law. From the study of the fundamental principles of criminal law, its legal concepts and its supralegislatives sources, this research will then offer a definition of the notion of risk in criminal law, containing the theoretical criteria of a legitimate criminally detectable risk. Its comparison with positive law, will emphasize whether the use of the notion of risk by the legislator in criminal law, makes him lose or not its legitimacy

Full textIn this research the time-domain model for the prediction of an acoustic field in an air-coupled, non-contact, surface wave scanner is proposed. The model takes into account the finite size of the aperture receiver, attenuation in air, and the electric response he of the emitter-receiver set he. The attenuation is characterized by a causal time-domain Green’s function, allowing the wideband attenuation of a lossy medium (air and solid tested sample) obeying the power law to be modelled. The response he is recovered experimentally using an original especially developed procedure which includes the deconvolution of air absorption effects. The model is implemented numerically using a Discrete Representation approach and validated experimentally. In order to improve the signal to noise ratio the chirp technique is used. It is shown that when the attenuation in air, the receiver size, and the accurately recovered response he, are correctly taken into account, the model allows the system’s impulse response to be very accurately predicted, with errors ranging between 2-5%. Inclusion of the size of the receiver dimension in the model appears to be crucial to the accuracy of the near field predictions. The obtained computation efficiency is much better that efficiency of FEM methods. The influence of typical user defined settings has been investigated. The obtained conclusions will be used as the recommendations for further use
