Full textThe purpose of this study is to get a view of how music teachers in the Swedish music schools experience projects where different art subjects are integrated with each other and to see if these projects can facilitate that more people get included in these schools. In order to achieve this purpose, the study is based on the following research questions: In what ways does music teachers experience subject integrated projects in the Swedish music schools?, In what way can subject integrated projects facilitate that more people get included in the Swedish music schools according to music teachers? The theoretical foundation of the study is interpretivism and the philosophical perspective is phenomenology. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with three music teachers whom where all working in one music school each. The result is presented in two overall themes. Resources and motivation for creative work is the first theme. The second theme is Social interaction. The result reveal that the experience the music teachers describes when it comes to subject integrated projects and the work with including more people to the music schools are quite similar too each other. The experience is however different within the teachers answes when it comes to the possibility and the motivation to participate or lead a subject integrated project. The result reveal that possibilities and motivation is affected by resources and the cooperation in between colleges.

Full textThe background of our paper is that feedback is needed as a tool on during work to make the individuals feel comfortable. This is basically related to our need of feeling accepted and to feel affinity. Research has demonstrated that the confirmation from the outside world is an important part of the individual's selfimage. In a project based environment, feedback is important, as project groups often consist of new constellations of people who quickly must learn to work together. If feed-back could be used successfully, this can have positive effects on work perfor-mance. The problem of providing feedback is how to give it in a constructive way so the receiver to take in the information and accept it. By examining past research, we examined why there is a need for feedback in project teams, what the research says that the giver should consider when it comes to feedback, and what consequences and results of feedback could be. Our purpose is, based on existing research, to examine how feedback is used in practice for five project managers. We asked ourselves following questions: Do project managers provide feedback? In what ways? How do they work with feedback? Do they know how the theory looks about the topic? How do they work to become better at giving feedback? To examine the issues, we used a qualitative approach in the form of semi-structured interviews. The interview subjects were all working in the same indus-try, the real estate industry. Our interview data were processed by transcribing and coding by predetermined themes. In our analysis we compared the theoretical background of the empirical data we collected. A matrix with a compilation of the collected data is presented in appendix 2. Our conclusion is that project managers mostly work with positive feedback and that giving negative feedback is perceived problematic. We also discovered that the project managers lacked a theo-retical knowledge about the subject and that the skills they possessed, had they learned through experience.
Johnsson, Julia, and Anna Olin.
Full textBackground and problem: Projects are usually characterized by insufficient goal fulfillment, regarding time, cost and quality for example. This can also be found in construction and infrastructure projects, which are important for society's opportunities for communication and transport. The fact that infrastructure projects, which are carried out by the public authority Trafikverket, do not achieve their goals, results in delays and that tax money is not used to the maximum. This also indicates that the projects are difficult to manage on the basis of the changing conditions and risks that characterize the project type, which makes it relevant to study the subject further. Purpose: The purpose of the study is to increase the knowledge of how management is used in road projects with a focus on conditions and risks. This is accomplished by describing how Trafikverkets process is managed in road projects and identifying and analyzing conditions and risks that can affect the projects. Method: The study is a qualitative multi-case study within Trafikverket. The theoretical material has been obtained from scientific articles, literature and reports. The empirical material was collected through a snowball selection in which eight respondents were included. In total, eleven semi-structured interviews were conducted. Web pages and documents are also part of the empirically collected material. In conducting the study, we included research ethical considerations and quality criteria, with the aim of increasing its reliability, credibility, confirmation and transferability. Conclusion: The study finds that road projects are managed based on a version of the stage-gate model and that there are also elements of the agile method regarding risk management. The three dimensions in the iron triangle time, cost and quality are a focus within road projects, but the quality dimension is described as content. In addition to the iron triangle consisting of an internal dependency, there is also an external influence on other projects. This means that one project's control triangle has an impact on another project's dimensions, which is a theoretical contribution that the study illustrated. A total of eight conditions, six risks and eight factors were also identified, which are considered to be both conditions and risks in road projects. All of these conditions and risks are managed. It is stated that these affect each other, which their management should take into account. Overall, it is determined that the management of road projects is complex due to these relationships and the occurrence of unpredictable events. This contributes to a practical and theoretical knowledge of the management with regard to the conditions and risks as these have been studied in conjunction with each other.

Full textProblem: How does project managing appear in small IT-consulting companies and how does the project manager carry out their projects to create successful solutions for their customers?
Purpose: The research has the purpose to analyze and review how IT-consults in small companies work and lead their projects to create profitability for the company, which leads to a good development for the company.
Methodology: The research is made on eight research objects in IT-consulting business and the sizes of them are between 1-49 employees. The research is made with a qualitative method to get closer to the research objects. Therefore the research is made in forms of interviews. The analysis is grounded on a comparison between the research data and the theories that are used in the research.
Theoretical perspectives: The theories which have been used in the research are Involvement theory (Fill, 1999), PAFF-metoden (Marcusson & Ahlin, 2002), Projektledning (Tonnquist, 2006), Jakten på det effektiva projektet (Engwall, 1999) och Mervärde (Grönroos, 2002)
Empirical foundation: The research data are founded from the interviews of the eight research objects, they have the fictive names: Gondor, Minas Morgul, Minas Tirith, Mordor, Osgiliath, Rivendell, Rohan and The Shire.
Analysis/Result: Each study object starts their projects with a pre-study phase, as the PAFF-method describes it. Each study object majorly involves their customers, which is equal to Fill’s theory about high involvement buying processes. This shows that the study objects are aware that they sell solutions that require high involvement of the customers. Four of the study object enjoy seeing that the customer contributes with high engagement and maintain a good level of ambition for the project; this is consistent with Engwall’s theory about organizational ideal types.
Conclusion: The project manager chooses not to rupture the present institutionalism. The project manager initiates the project with a pre-study phase. The project manager is sure to involve their customers. The service guaranty the project manager uses is “problem-free-guaranty”. The role of the project manager is to plan and organize the project; the project manager should also be a good communicator.

Full textCompanies all over the world are dependent on innovation in order to continuously keep their position on their specific market. Innovation exists within different grades whereas low innovation, or incremental innovation, can be seen as a further development of an already existing product or service. High innovation, or radical innovation, can instead be seen as a development of a completely new product or service, which is not already on the market. All companies use projects of different sizes and with different goals. The projects might differ between themself with respect to the grade of innovation. This report examines and discusses how different grades of innovation affect the development process within the project. The study has taken place on a company within the semiconductor industry where they specialize in highly technological products. It is a rather small company who is singularly responsible for the manufacturing and distribution of the products in the Nordic. Before the study, a preliminary investigation was made, followed by interviews with four respondents on the company in question. The results show that there is no actual difference between projects of different grades of innovation when it comes to the planning phase of the project. During the whole development phase the projects differ with respect to time, handling of resources, the impact of external parties, the importance of an effective project and the importance of the project to the company. The results from this study are not absolute due to the fact that it is a small company with only about 50 employees. It is also a company within a fairly niche industry. To have the result being applicable within all industries and companies, continuous research and further development of this study is needed where different companies of different sizes in different industries are analyzed and compared to each other. The experience and knowledge that this report brings might be a source for further research within the subject.

Full textIn this report a low-cost, portable and wearable design of a new system with reflective technologyfor pulse oximetry is presented. The work has been executed as a project, including electronics construction, software development, a design of the embedding for the prototype and continuous tests of both the hardware and software during the work in progress. The result of this work is a prototype system for pulse oximetry. The system can communicate through Bluetooth wireless interface with a PC, laptop or smartphone which supports Bluetooth 4.0. The measurements are shown in real time on a PC/laptop/smartphone. The software is written in mbed with the language C++ for the microprocessor. The project demands different technical skills like signal processing, programming, electronic design and microprocessors. Over all the project is a good introduction for medical technology and a basis for electronic engineers. The purpose and goal with the thesis is considered to be reached for the most part and further testing and development of the product is possible.
