Hydrogen, with its remarkable potential as a clean and abundant energy carrier, has gained significant attention as a promising solution for a sustainable future. However, the handling, storage, and utilization of hydrogen come with inherent risks, particularly the potential for explosions. The present work deals with the design of an experimental stand for hydrogen explosions in interconnected spaces, based on previous experience in the field of air-methane mixtures explosions. Hydrocarbon gas explosions such as methane gas in confined spaces represent a significant hazard across various industries, particularly mining, oil and gas extraction, and oxy-cutting processes. The risks associated with methane accumulation are exacerbated by the unique characteristics of confined spaces, where gas concentrations can reach explosive levels. The explosive potential of methane is primarily influenced by its concentration in the air. Understanding the conditions under which methane becomes hazardous is crucial for developing effective safety protocols and mitigation strategies.

When a large area of open gob collapses suddenly, a windblast is produced that can cause considerable damage throughout the infrastructure of a mine. In a few cases, the windblast has been accompanied by ignitions of methane and/or coal dust. Analytical and numerical analyses investigated the transient behavior of the air through the small time period during which the roof is falling. This is sufficiently short to allow adiabatic compression of the air, i.e. negligible heat transfer to rock surfaces. Controlled escape of the air via interconnecting entries limits the build-up of air pressure.

Abstract:
This paper presents the results of experimental investigation on characteristics of methane-coal dust mixture explosion and its mitigation by ultra-fine water mist. Four E12-1-K type fast response thermocouples, two PCB piezotronic pressure transducers were used to obtain the temperature and pressure history of methane-coal dust mixture explosion and its mitigation by ultra-fine water mist, while a GigaView High-speed camera was used to visualize the processes. Different methane concentrations, coal dust concentrations, diameters of coal particles and volumes of ultra-fine water mist were cons

Abstract:
Abstract Gas pipeline explosions and deaths occur year after year, and a primary cause for those explosions is now known. For decades, these explosions were attributed to corrosion and other incidental causes, but the extent of pipeline damages cannot be explained by corrosion. Pipelines are obliterated by large explosions, and pipelines explode from the inside to the outside. Pipes cannot explode in this manner unless air is present inside the pipes. To date, all previous investigations assumed that the gas industry prevents all air from entering pipelines, and this question about air was not

The increase of the population also involve the increase of the consumption of raw materials. This requires the diversification and development of industrial processes in closed semi-enclosed or open spaces. The carrying out of human activities of an industrial nature involves the accidental use, handling or presence of explosive substances such as methane. The presence of this gas in closed or semi-closed spaces can generate explosion phenomena. The dynamics of methane discharge in closed enclosures, industrial or domestic, is less studied. Knowing how methane is discharged is very important
