The use of the qualitative and quantitative method of ultimate senses allowed to explicate the semantic structures of adolescents’ outlook on ultimate grounds of man’s acts in different spheres of life. In comparison with teenagers, the semantic structure of adolescents’ worldview is more complex, coordinated and holistic. Abstract This essay argues that throughout his oeuvre, Henry David Thoreau develops a theory of sensory perception that comes to its literary culmination in Cape Cod (1865). I argue that Thoreau’s thinking on the senses demonstrates that the senses are a product of historical development. In Cape Cod, Thoreau is particularly interested in how economic interest has trained the senses to become structurally incapable of sensing the death that is a necessary part of the commodity form and social life in general—similar to what Karl Marx in Capital (1867) would describe as “dead labor.” This essay

Abstract:
Abstract Sophisticated integrated circuit processing of silicon materials has been promoted as the optimum methodology for miniaturized mechanical and chemical sensors for over two decades. However, in micro biomedical applications, advantages of using Si are often not as clear as in mechanical sensors. The high cost of Si, difficulties in packaging, need for modularity and biocompatibility all encourage investigation of non-silicon materials and semi-continuous processing. Metal/polymer hybrid structures are preferred as the substrate materials in this application. The two manufacturing techn

Abstract:
The article examines modern media texts in the field of political journalism; the role of information narratives and emotional markers in media doctrine is clarified; verbal expression of rational meanings in the articles of famous Ukrainian analysts is shown. Popular theories of emotions in the process of cognition are considered, their relationship with the author’s personality, reader psychology and gonzo journalism is shown. Since the media text, in contrast to the text, is a product of social communication, the main narrative is information with the intention of influencing public opinion

Singh, Anjali. Ultimate Guide to Automated Cell Counter: Plus Purchasing Tips. ConductScience, 2022. http://dx.doi.org/10.55157/cs20220614.

Full text
Abstract:
An automated cell counter is a machine that uses either image analysis or electrical impedance principles to count cells automatically. The electrical impedance principle involves measuring changes in electrical resistance as cells pass through an aperture, while the light-scattering principle observes how cells scatter light when exposed to it. There are four main types of automated cell counting methods: Coulter Counter, Image Analysis Method, Flow Cytometry, and Stereological Cell Counting. Each method has its benefits and limitations, offering faster and more objective cell counting compar

Abstract:
The article analyzes the main ideologemes in the Iranian English-language newspaper The Tehran Times about the Russian-Ukrainian war. Particular attention is paid to such ideologemes as “NATO-created Ukraine war”, “Western racism”, “an average European is a victim of the US policy”. The author claims that the newspaper is a repeater of anti-Ukrainian ideologemes by the Russian propaganda, including such as “coup d’état in Ukraine”, “denazification”, “special military operation”, “conflict in Ukraine”, “genocide in Donbas”, but retranslates them in a specific way: the journalists of The Tehran

Abstract:
Monitoring and modeling of coastal vegetation and ecosystems are major challenges, especially when considering environmental response to hazards, disturbances, and management activities. Remote sensing applications can provide alternatives and complementary approaches to the often costly and laborious field-based collection methods traditionally used for coastal ecosystem monitoring. New and improved sensors and data analysis techniques have become available, making remote sensing applications attractive for evaluation and potential use in monitoring coastal vegetation properties and ecosystem

Abstract:
This paper presents the results of the multi-method evaluation of the CLARISSA Cash Plus pilot, which was an innovative social protection scheme for tackling social ills, including the worst forms of child labour. A universal and unconditional ‘cash plus’ programme, it combined community mobilisation, case work, and cash transfers, and was implemented across a high-density, low-income neighbourhood in Dhaka. Findings show that the intervention was impactful in reducing people’s poverty and increasing their wellbeing and resilience. Impacts on work and working conditions were present but limite

Abstract:
For the burst tests on high strength line pipe investigated in this report, standard assessment methods used by the pipeline industry generally give conservative failure predictions. For a small number of test points the ASME B31G, Modified ASME B31G and the LPC-1 methods gave non-conservative failure predictions when used to assess defect depths greater than 50% of the pipe wall. However, for machined defects, particularly those that are rectangular flat bottomed patches the use of ASME B31G and Modified ASME B31G to predict failure pressures may be inappropriate because the area of metal los

Effective-stress nonlinear dynamic analyses (NDA) were performed for piles in liquefiable sloped ground to assess how inertia and liquefaction-induced lateral spreading combine in long-duration vs. short-duration earthquakes. A parametric study was performed using input motions from subduction and crustal earthquakes covering a wide range of earthquake durations. The NDA results were used to evaluate the accuracy of the equivalent static analysis (ESA) recommended by Caltrans/ODOT for estimating pile demands. Finally, the NDA results were used to develop new ESA methods to combine inertial and

Abstract:
In the early morning on the 4th of August 2014, a tailings dam near Quesnel, BC burst, spilling approximately 25 million m3 of runoff containing heavy metal elements into nearby Quesnel Lake (Byrne et al. 2018). The runoff slurry, which included lead, arsenic, selenium, and vanadium spilled through Hazeltine Creek, scouring its banks and picking up till and forest cover on the way, and ultimately ended up in Quesnel Lake, whose water level rose by 1.5 m as a result. While the introduction of heavy metals into Quesnel Lake was of environmental concern, the additional till and forest cover scour
