Ebola, Axelle Cindy. "Le recrutement du personnel en France : quelles représentations et quelles pratiques ?" Thesis, Amiens, 2017. http://www.theses.fr/2017AMIE0049.
Full textWe conducted a study, which focused on personnel professional recruitment practices. The goal was repeated, it is firstly a review of the recruitment methods used by the french recruiters. And on the other hand to question these professionals on the perception that they had both their personal practices than on existing practices in their activity (scientific and pseudo-scientific). To answer these questions, we used in-depth interviews with 41 recruiters (psychologists and no psychologists) from the private and public sectors. The investigation to reveal a certain number of practices (see annex 9), she also allowed us to see that the french recruiters met for the most part a somewhat similar approach to their recruitment (the need analysis, screening, thorough selection). As to their perception, we found that there was no significant difference in the representation of recruitment methods, either in terms of the recruiter's basic training or his sector of activity. Thus, 85% of the sample has a negative representation of the recruitment methods used in France. But 88% have negative representations of pseudo-scientific methods, while 29% of them say that the company context can have an impact on their practices, especially in terms of their choice. In our opinion, it would be interesting for recruitment practices in France to have legislation that is worthy of the stakes involved in this activity

Full textIn order to lower barriers to help-seeking among problem gamblers, new treatment modalities better suited to gamblers’ needs such as self-help treatments (SHT) have been developed. Various studies indicate that SHTs can reduce problem gambling severity and gambling behavior, but inconsistencies remain as to their true benefits. Moreover, most problem gamblers who take part in SHT efficacy studies are recruited through media advertisement, which does not provide information about gamblers’ characteristics and their involvement in the treatment when other recruitment strategies are used. The first study presented in this thesis assesses the efficacy of a SHT including three motivational telephone interviews and a cognitive-behavioral self-help workbook relative to a waiting list control condition after an 11-week period. In comparison with the control group, gamblers receiving the intervention showed a significant reduction in problem gambling severity, gambling habits and negative consequences from gambling as well as a significant increase in perceived self-efficacy and life satisfaction. Improvements reported by the treatment group at week 11 were maintained throughout the 12 month follow-up period. The second study compares problem gambling severity and treatment involvement of gamblers who have taken part in the SHT efficacy study according to their method of recruitment, either media advertisement or a list of gambling research volunteers. Results indicate that gamblers recruited through media advertisement presented a significantly higher level of problem gambling severity than gamblers recruited from the list of volunteers. Both groups completed a similar number of treatment workbook phases and no significant between-group difference was found regarding the proportion of dropouts, thus suggesting a similar level of involvement in the treatment from all participants. This thesis brings further support to the empirical evidence of the efficacy of SHTs to reduce problem gambling and expands knowledge about ways to offer this type of treatment to problem gamblers.

Full textIn a stratified sampling design, the calculation of the stratum boundaries can be done in several ways. We can rely on personal judgment and separate the units of the population based on the distribution of the stratification variable. Other scientific and rigorous methods give a better result, including the algorithms of cum √f, Sethi and Kosak. For asymmetric populations, as found in the business surveys, the use of a census stratum reduces the sample size and gives more reliable estimates. Univariate methods, those that use a single stratification variable in calculating the boundaries, do not guarantee that the target precision will be obtained for all the variables of interest in the survey. Using the variable of interest that is the most difficult to estimate, as a stratification variable, makes it possible to guarantee a minimum target CV for all the other variables, but generates large sample sizes.

Full textSystemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is a multifactorial autoimmune disease characterized by circulating immune complexes composed of autoreactive antibodies mainly raised against nuclear antigens. Basophils enhance self-reactive antibody production during SLE by accumulating into secondary lymphoid organs (SLOs) where they support autoreactive plasma cells. Mechanisms by which basophils are recruited to SLOs are not known and identification of basophil surface markers specific of SLE may lead to the development of new diagnostic tools and therapeutic strategies. Here, we demonstrate that severe basopenia and high proportion of HLA-DR expressing basophils are specific for, and associated with, SLE disease activity. We show, both in SLE patients and in lupus-prone mice, that prostaglandin D2 (PGD2) is involved in SLE pathogenesis and is responsible for basophil accumulation in SLOs by enabling basophils to respond to the chemokine CXCL12. PGD2 receptors' blockade successfully suppressed basophil accumulation in SLOs, thereby disabling autoreactive plasma cell support, and relieved lupus-like inflammation in mice. Identification of this crosstalk between PGD2 and CXCL12 pathways in SLE provides a rationale for development of new diagnostic tools and of a new and safe therapeutic strategy to prevent tiares of this disease

Full textSeveral biases related to age estimation led to privilege assessing age structures of populations. But cementochronology provides a better accuracy and a strong correlation coefficient with chronological age. The annual apposition of dental cementum offers an alternative to the reference population. We aim to achieve a paleodemographic study using classical age estimates obtained by cementochronology. We select the modern osteoarcheological series of the cathedral Notre Dame du Bourg at Digne-les-Bains (France), composed by 563 individuals who were buried between the 16th to the 18th century. To monitor the biological results, we examine all the parish registers from 1671 to 1721. After analyzing funerary practices, data from parish records are compared to biological and paleodemographic results from the 421 adults and 142 subadults. Historical records indicate a typical preindustrial population suffering a mortality crisis in 1691-1692. Biological data are consistent with historical sources about an unspecific funerary admission in the cathedral Notre Dame du Bourg. Cementochronology is applied to 109 adults' permanent canines and to 42 subadults' deciduous and permanent single-root teeth. We calculate the probability density function of each individual and belmonging probabilities to every age class. Our interpretation of funerary admission obtained by tooth cementum analysis is conclusive for young and middle-aged adults since the age pattern of mortality is consistent with both the archaic mortality pattern and historical records. Our approach innovates by restoring age estimates in paleodemography through the biological specificity of cementum

Full textAcceleration of technological and economic evolutions brings about more and more frequent changes. Then, employees must be able to adapt resources which they provide to employers' needs for preserving their employability. Among various elements structuring this employability, knowledge and dynamic which determines their progression in synchrony with needs to provide on market, occupy major place. Characteristics definition of work expected and provided and empirical analysis of decisional factors on which managers make decisions in ten industrial companies questioned about employee assignment lead us to advise them to use mental employability concept as decision criterion. The proposition of decision-making aid method based on mental employability evaluation aims to characterize optimal ratio between employer's requirements and resources provided by employee. Four examples are used for understanding how this theoretic model works

Full textIn this thesis we have considered the transgressions made by heads of companies in Lebanon to the applicable labor rules (Labor Code, social security, etc.) and to the standards for good human resources management. These business owners have replaced these rules, among others, to suit their needs with the help of: sequential economic crises; a fragmented and weakened syndicalism; a paralyzed work inspection; a political power undermined by conflict; very high unemployment rates; abundance of low-cost foreign labor force; etc.Consequently, we have applied the Theory of Social Regulation (TRS) of Jean-Daniel Reynaud (1988, 1997, 2003), which have helped us in answering questions related to the redefinition of the rules of work and human resources management, other rulemakings, and the identification of the rulemaking actors, their strategies, and the nature of the rules issued. To answer the questions raised by our problem statement, we have conducted three field studies. The first in form of interviews with HR managers of companies in Lebanon. This study allowed us to identify the profiles of these actors, their career path, their involvement in rulemaking, and the issues faced at the level of HR. The second study was a sample survey filled by 450 employees at companies of the main economic sectors, from which a questionnaire was conducted on human resources management in these companies. As for the third, case studies were conducted in eight companies in form of 28 interviews with employees at these companies.Indeed, the data of all this fieldwork allowed us to detect forms of social regulation and to estimate the margin of applicability of Reynaud’s theory to the social regulation in Lebanon via HRM

Full textThe massification of the Internet and computers has changed several aspects of our daily life and the way we apply to a job is not the exception. Nowadays, the recruitment and selection of applicants for a job is done through the use of information technologies, creating what it is known as e-Recruitment. Since the last 15 years, the researchers in Natural Language Processing have been studying how to improve the performance of recruiters with the help of the e-Recruitment. Several systems have been developed in this field, from the job and applicants search engines to the automatic ranking of applicants. In the last case, most of the developed systems consist in the comparison between the résumés of applicants and a job offer. Only one system makes use of résumés from past selection processes to rank newer applicants. In this thesis we study whether and how we can use the résumés, without having to use past selection processes, to develop new methods for e-Recruitment systems. More specifically, we start with the automatic treatment of a large set of résumés used during real recruitment and selection processes. Then, we analyze and apply different proximity measures to know which are the most adequate to study the résumés of applicants. We introduce, after, an innovative method which consists on the Relevance Feedback and the use of proximity measures over uniquely the résumés to rank applicants. Finally, we present the study and application of a statistical measure which allows us to compare, at the same time, the job offer, one specific applicant and the rest of applicants, in order to rank all the job candidates. Along this thesis we show that résumés have enough information about the selection processes, in order to rank the applicants. Nonetheless, it is important to choose correctly the proximity measure to use. As well, we present interesting outcomes from the triple comparison between résumés and job offers. The results obtained in this thesis are the basis for a new prototype of an e-Recruitment system and hopefully, the beginning of a new way to create these

Full textMany studies highlight the challenges of integrating skilled immigrants into the labor market in Quebec (Chicha and Charest, 2008; Boudarbat and Boulet, 2010; Forcier and Handal, 2012). The lack of recognition of qualifications acquired abroad, insufficient knowledge of the French language and discrimination in the workplace, are among the most frequently cited challenges that new immigrants face upon settling in Quebec (Bourhis et al. 2007; Chanoux, 2009). One of the difficulties mentioned (Eid 2012; Forcier and Handal, 2012) is the challenge of integrating into socio-professional networks composed of non-immigrants. Nevertheless, as shown by some authors (Ibarra, 1993; Granovetter, 1983; Robert, 2007; Beji and Pellerin, 2010), those networks are key to integrating into the job market. Indeed, networks provide access to important information such as the availability of job opportunities before they are posted on job boards or career sites (Ibarra, 1993). Once employed, being part of a network of colleagues or superiors can facilitate the individual’s career goals by having the support and advice of their network. Brazilians, like other immigrants, also face challenges in building a network. Since there is very little research regarding the integration of Brazilians in Montreal, especially concerning the job search methods (formal and informal) that influence the access to skilled jobs for Brazilian immigrants in Montreal, we have decided to explore this subject and will focus our research on this population. Consequently, the aim of this research is to analyze and understand job search methods (formal and informal) that influence the access to skilled jobs for Brazilian immigrants in Montreal. As for the methodology, a qualitative analysis, with semi-structured interviews, were conducted with highly qualified professionals living and working in Montreal. The results of our research will allow further research to better understand how Brazilian immigrants succeed, or not, in obtaining a job related to their background and building social and professional networks as well as how those networks can support their employment integration.
