Abstract:

Abstract:
Purpose As the consumer experience literature broadens in scope – specifically, from dyads to ecosystems and from provider-centric to consumer-centric perspective – traditional data collection methods are no longer adequate. In that context, the paper aims to discuss three little-used data collection methods that can contribute to this broader view of consumer experience. Design/methodology/approach The paper identifies methodological requirements for exploring the broadened view of consumer experience and reviews data collection methods currently in use. Findings The paper elaborates tailored guidelines for the study of consumer experience through first-hand, systemic and processual perspectives for three promising and currently underused data collection methods: phenomenological interviews, event-based approaches and diary methods. Research limitations/implications Although the list of identified methods is not exhaustive, the methods and guidelines discussed here can be used to advance empirical investigation of consumer experience as more broadly understood. Practical implications Practitioners can apply these methods to gain a more complete view of consumers’ experiences and so offer value propositions compatible with those consumers’ lifeworlds. Originality/value The paper principally contributes to the literature in two ways: by defining the methodological requirements for investigating consumer experience from consumer-centric, systemic and processual perspectives, and by specifying a set of data collection methods that meet these requirements, along with tailored guidelines for their use.

Abstract:
Abstract Developing the critique of notions of the “integration of immigrants”, twelve propositions are advanced to diagnose the methodological nationalism of mainstream approaches. The concept of “integration” contains assumptions about the nature and functioning of modern society which, in a post-industrial and post-colonial context, are falsely trapped within the normative bounds of thinking for the nation-state. An alternate empirical operationalisation is suggested that would render traditional types of assimilation and integration research obsolete.

Abstract:
Christians, from Jerusalem to Jakarta and from the 1st to the 21st century, worship the same Jesus. However, the way that Jesus has been depicted throughout history and throughout different cultures has not been monolithic. The reason for discontinuity can be varied. One reason beneath the different descriptions of Jesus inhabits the issue of methodology. By “methodology,” I mean the ways people make sense of Jesus and present him to others. Generally, there are two main approaches to the study of Christology: “from below” and “from above”. This article explores the concept of Christology “from below,” examining its historical development, assessing its theological assumptions, and investigating its contextual applications in the global context to cultivate some biblical principles for ongoing contextual theological conversations.

Abstract:
The use of methodologies in software and knowledge engineering is very extensive due to their important advantages. In the case of the development of ontologies, until now, several methodological proposals have been presented for building ontologies. Some of these methodologies are designed for building ontologies from scratch or reusing other ontologies without modifying them, concretely, the following cases can be mentioned: the Cyc methodology, the approach proposed by Uschold and King, Grüninger and Fox's methodology, the KACTUS methodology, METHONTOLOGY and the SENSUS methodology. There is even a proposal for re-engineering ontologies, and several proposals for collaborative construction of ontologies. In this article, we describe the methodologies and check their degree of maturity, contrasting them with respect to the IEEE standard for software development. Before this, we justify to what extent this standard can be used. A conclusion to this study is that there is no completely mature methodological proposal for building ontologies, since there are some important activities and techniques that are missing in all these methodologies. However, all the methodologies do not have the same degree of maturity. In fact, METHONTOLOGY is a very mature methodology. The other conclusion of this article is that, although work to unify proposals can be interesting, maybe several approaches should coexist.

Abstract:
Purpose: The main purpose of the present paper is to present Kazimierz Dobrowolski’s integral method treated here as the proposal directed at the organization and management research in historical perspective. This method has been put forward against a background of the dominant – in the sciences of organization and management – quantitative approaches based on the positive research paradigm. His methodological proposal was referred to the main threads in methodological discussions of organizational history. Design/methodology/approach: The analysis was based on studies of literature on the methodology of organizational history and theoretical proposals found in the publications of Dobrowolski. Findings: The article shows that that Dobrowolski’s methodological proposal offers an integral method assuming a holistic nature of social reality, postulating a combination of functional and historical approaches as well as the use of materials obtained through field research and document studies. Research limitation/ implications: Dobrowolski’s concept can be applied to the study of transformation processes and relations between organization and its environment. Originality/value: The article is a pioneering attempt to analyze Dobrowolski’s theoretical and methodological concepts in the context of methodological postulates of organizational history.

Abstract:
This article presents a methodological proposal to address the urban issue from the perspective of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Different tools have been developed for this purpose: the Aura Method and the Aura Matrix. The Aura Matrix of relationships built from the SDGs, along with the conceptual proposals to which the project must respond, allows for the definition of a methodological framework of action, defined as the Aura Method, applicable to any project that aims to respond to the urban scale from a more sustainable and healthy approach and within the framework of the above-mentioned goals. Two proposals for the Solar Decathlon Latin America of the Aura Team from the University of Seville (2015 and 2019) in Cali, Colombia, and their comparison, are presented as case studies. The scope of the 2019 proposal based on the use of these tools is more rigorous and bold with respect to the requirements defined by the SDGs than the 2015 proposal, based on the millennium goals. This reinforces to a great extent the resilience of the urban scope under study and its capacity to face serious situations in terms of citizens’ health, such as the pandemic we are currently suffering, and improves life quality. The main findings lay on the defined Aura Matrix and Aura Method tools as pragmatic opportunities to translate conceptual approaches such as G3: ‘Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages’ into practical decisions and urban design proposals to improve the quality of life and health of citizens.

Abstract:
The article is devoted to the substantiation of methodological approaches to the identification and assessment of long-term socially significant effects of state programs of the Russian Federation. In this regard, the domestic methodology and practice of developing and evaluating the effectiveness of state programs of the Russian Federation are subjected to critical analysis. It is stated that in the adopted model of assessing efficiency («as is»), socially significant effects of government programs are assessed indirectly through the program outcomes and indicators, and such an approach significantly reduces the completeness and reliability of the estimates obtained. The proposed model for assessing «how it should be», based on the implementation of the principles, procedures and tools used in the best foreign practice for assessing the effects of state programs, will increase the level of substantiation of the contribution of state programs of the Russian Federation to the socio-economic development of the country, individual industries and spheres of the national economy, human capital. Among the innovations are: differentiation of the concepts of «efficiency» and «effectiveness» of the state program; identification of the entire spectrum of effects (including external and negative) generated by program activities; assessment of the social and economic effects of government programs as additional benefits of the national economy, its individual sectors and spheres, the population in comparison with the so-called «status quo» scenario. During the transition period, it is proposed to use a number of analytical procedures to assess the effects of government programs of the Russian Federation based on the available information and currently adopted methods for their development and effectiveness assessment (on the example of several government programs).

Abstract:
Among phoneticians, the Vocal Profile Analysis (VPA) is one of the most widely used methods for the componential assessment of voice quality. Whether the ultimate goal of the VPA evaluation is the comparative description of languages or the characterization of an individual speaker, the VPA protocol shows great potential for different research areas of speech communication. However, its use is not without practical difficulties. Despite these, methodological studies aimed at explaining where, when and why issues arise during the perceptual assessment process are rare. In this paper we describe the methodological stages through which three analysts evaluated the voices of 99 Standard Southern British English male speakers, rated their voices using the VPA scheme, discussed inter-rater disagreements, and eventually produced an agreed version of VPA scores. These scores were then used to assess correlations between settings. We show that it is possible to reach a good degree of inter-rater agreement, provided that several calibration and training sessions are conducted. We further conclude that the perceptual assessment of voice quality using the VPA scheme is an essential tool in fields such as forensic phonetics but, foremost, that it can be adapted and modified to a range of research areas, and not necessarily limited to the evaluation of pathological voices in clinical settings.

Abstract:
In the build-up to the World Trade Organisation (WTO) Ministerial Meeting in November 1999, and its aftermath, considerable interest has been expressed in the likely economic, environmental and social effects of trade liberalisation on sustainable development. This article explores the methodological challenges which are faced when undertaking a sustainability impact assessment (SIA) at different stages in multilateral trade negotiations. The article draws upon the authors' experiences when undertaking a preliminary SIA in advance of the proposed WTO New Round, and explores how the methodology used might need to be elaborated for use in later stages of the negotiating process. Given existing methodological deficiencies and data shortages, it points to some of the dangers in being over-ambitious and proposes, as an interim solution, the more detailed and specific application of "simpler" methods already in use.

The draft section is attached to this article In the draft introduces a number of new terms (radiogenic risk, nominal radiogenic risk, radiogenic risk of death from cancer and radiogenic risk of cancer and a number of others) with a clear interpretation of their meaning and purpose, as well as the sphere application of the relevant values. The draft proposes to replace the term generalized risk with radiation risk, which is more in line with its meaning. Given also specific formulas to calculate the radiogenic risk coefficients for different types of irradiation based on the real demographics data for exposed populations. Abstract:
Introduction. Costs are a necessary attribute and an unconditional driver of any business entity. Not having made an expense it is impossible for a company to obtain and dispose its revenues. Costs accompany operations of an enterprise throughout its existence, so their proper identification, accounting, grouping, distribution, analysis and subsequent forecasting and planning are necessary processes for effective business activity. Purpose. The goal of the article is a thorough study of available methodological approaches to comprehensive analysis of company’s functioning costs, and forthcoming elaboration of proposals for solving the identified problems. Method (methodology). The author uses a number of general scientific research methods, including abstract-theoretical, dialectical methods, induction and deduction, analysis and synthesis, that were exploited to identify and generalize the theoretical and methodological bases for cost analysis and developing a set of key indicators. Results. The article discloses the tasks, features and aspects of business functioning cost diagnostics of industrial and trading enterprises. The existing methodological approaches to the analysis of cost management efficiency in domestic and foreign sources were analyzed. The author proposes to decompose such a research into five aspects: volume and structure of expenses, unit costs, critical output, resource consumption and cost of capital. A comprehensive set of performance indicators was formed and recommendations for their calculation were suggested. These proposals can be used for a profound cost analysis of industrial, commercial, agricultural business entities, enterprises representing such sectors as «Information and Telecommunications», «Professional, scientific and technical activities» and others.

Abstract:
- For decades, the dilemma between open-ended and closed-ended response alternatives occupied the methodological debate. Over the years, dominant approaches in survey have reacted to this dilemma by opting for fixed response alternatives and the standardization of interviewer's behaviour. If this methodological decision has been the survey's fortune, making it the methodology most widely used in the social sciences, however it produces a large amount of biases well known in the literature. In order to re- medy these biases an alternative proposal can be designed by re-discovering and adapting two «old» proposals: Likert's technique called «fixed question/free answers», and Galtung's procedure named «open question/closed answer». Both procedures are guided by the same principle: make the interview into a conversation, let the interviewee answer freely in his/her own words, and thus release him/her from the researcher's schemes.

Abstract:
<p>In lexicography a good review is important for the dictionary maker(s), the publishing house and the whole lexicographical community. It is also important for the reviewers because it can expand their research record. Up to a few years ago reviews were still acknowledged in research databases. Currently they can be included in a database, but they do not count as scientific outputs. The situation for peer reviews is similar. Peer reviews are an important quality assurance tool in the scientific publication process. Good peer reviews have some mutual characteristics with reviews, especially regarding ethical aspects. But there are essential differences. These issues are discussed in this paper and some methodological and ethical proposals for peer reviews are made. One of the proposals could create a debate because it argues for an open peer review process and not for the so-called double blind peer review. Another proposal focuses on the role of the editor and his ability to decide if a peer review should be rejected and not be forwarded to the author.</p>

Abstract:
This literature review analyzes and classifies methodological contributions that answer the different challenges faced by smart cities. This study identifies city services that require the use of artificial intelligence (AI); which they refer to as AI application areas. These areas are classified and evaluated, taking into account the five proposed domains (government, environment, urban settlements, social assistance, and economy). In this review, 168 relevant studies were identified that make methodological contributions to the development of smart cities and 66 AI application areas, along with the main challenges associated with their implementation. The review methodology was content analysis of scientific literature published between 2013 and 2020. The basic terminology of this study corresponds to AI, the internet of things, and smart cities. In total, 196 references were used. Finally, the methodologies that propose optimization frameworks and analytical frameworks, the type of conceptual research, the literature published in 2018, the urban settlement macro-categories, and the group city monitoring–smart electric grid, make the greater contributions.

Abstract:
Natural disasters generate profound socio-economic changes in the affected communities. A consistent methodology that allows quantifying its impacts is essential for the implementation of adaptation and mitigation policies. The objective of this work is to provide a systematic review of existing methodologies to quantify the economic impact derived from the occurrence of natural disasters. To do this, a keyword search is conducted in two search engines (Scopus and Science Direct). The results suggest the existence of wide differences between methodological proposals. Consideration of physical damage (direct effect) is more frequent than the impact on productive flows (indirect effect). The destruction of the natural environment (loss of ecosystem services) is not usually included. In the context of global climate change, these findings highlight the importance of having a consistent methodology.

Abstract:
Several systems integration proposals have been suggested over the years. However these proposals have mainly focused on data integration, not allowing users to take advantage of services offered by Web portals. Most of the mentioned proposals only provide a set of design principles to build integrated systems and lack in suggesting a systematic way of how to develop systems based on the integration architecture they propose. In previous work we have developed PISA (Web Portal Integration Architecture)—a Web portal integration architecture for data and services—and MIDAS-S, a methodological approach for the development of integrated Web portals, built according to PISA. This work shows, by means of a case study, how both proposals fit together integrating Web portals.

Abstract:
Sociological practitioners often face considerable methodological uncertainty when undertaking a quantitative analysis. This methodological uncertainty encompasses both data construction (e.g. defining variables) and analysis (e.g. selecting and specifying a modelling procedure). Methodological uncertainty can lead to results that are fragile and arbitrary. Yet, many practitioners may be unaware of the potential scale of methodological uncertainty in quantitative analysis, and the recent emergence of techniques for addressing it. Recent proposals for ‘multi-strategy’ approaches seek to identify and manage methodological uncertainty in quantitative analysis. We present a case-study of a multi-strategy analysis, applied to the problem of estimating the long-term impact of 1980s UK government-sponsored youth training. We use this case study to further highlight the problem of cumulative methodological fragilities in applied quantitative sociology and to discuss and help develop multi-strategy analysis as a tool to address them.

Subject of research. The conceptual and methodological aspects, in the context of developmental trends in the subject and system of financial law, of training specialists in the field of FinTech Law.Purpose. To formulate conceptual and practical proposals which could transform the financial law system; also, to provide lawyers with the methodological foundations to form a comprehensive financial and legal library in the context of the digitalization of the economy.Methodology. When searching and systematizing educational programs in the fields of digital law and FinTech Law, both a literature review and a comparative method were used. To organize national strategies for the digitalization of the economy, a formal legal method was used. In formulating the author’s concept of a financial law system (in which the FinTech Law legal institution could occupy a space), a systematic and integrated approach was used. In formulating methodological proposals for the integration of legal, financial and digital literacy, a competency-based approach was used.Results. The author argues that globalization must be a prerequisite for the foundations, both scientifically and educationally, underlying the FinTech Law Institute. In finance, globalization has manifested itself both negatively (through the systemic risk that emerged amidst the global financial crisis) and positively (through the creation of a new, risk-oriented system of international and national regulations, financially and legally, which are sensitive to ongoing digital challenges). Based on a review of experiences undertaken, both in Russia and abroad, to develop the scientific and educational basis of FinTech Law, the author formulates proposals to further develop this topic and to transform the financial law system. These include implementing three large entities (sub-sectors) in the form of monetary law, fiscal law, and financial market law, as well as the integrated institute of FinTech Law. The author offers his own version of a structure this legal institution can use.The author identifies the specific problems of synthesizing legal and financial knowledge when training lawyers as a necessary prerequisite if effective digitalization of professional competencies is to proceed; he also suggests methodological approaches for the formation of such a synthesis.Discussion. The article offers proposals, conceptually and practically, for transforming the system of financial law, and for improving the methodological foundations required to form a comprehensive financial and legal library for lawyers in the context of globalization and digitalization. It also substantiates the important position that FinTech Law occupies in systems for the professional training of lawyers. The results of the study can be used in the development of the scientific doctrine of financial law, or in the methodological foundations of the formation of complex competencies of lawyers through the formation of financial, legal and digital literacy.

Abstract:
AbstractIn contrast to recent commentators on Quentin Skinner's Foundations of Modern Political Thought, this work argues that Skinner's approach to the development of the modern theory of the state is strictly consistent with his earlier methodological proposals. But it is also established that Skinner's consistency ultimately leaves him without a “genuinely historical” basis for a unified state-tradition within late medieval and early modern Europe. The article proposes an alternative historical methodology which allows for the explanation of persisting traditions of discourse (such as that of the state) within a coherent historical framework.

Abstract:
AbstractFraming plays an important role in lobbying, as interest groups strategically highlight some aspects of policy proposals while ignoring others to shape policy debates in their favour. However, due to methodological difficulties, we have remarkably little systematic data about the framing strategies of interest groups. This article therefore proposes a new technique for measuring interest group framing that is based on a quantitative text analysis of interest group position papers and official policy documents. We test this novel methodological approach on the basis of two case studies in the areas of environmental and transport policy in the European Union. We are able to identify the frames employed by all interest groups mobilised in a debate and assess their effectiveness by studying to what extent decision-makers move closer to their policy positions over the course of the policy debate.

Abstract:
The 2014 changes in the Tax Code expanded the institute of cadastral valuation from land to capital construction facilities. But this also gave rise to a new wave of questions about the reliability of the cadastral assessment. One of the stumbling blocks was the accounting (exclusion) of land from the cost of the capital construction facility. This article is devoted to methodological substantiation of estimation and accounting of land value in a single real estate object in conditions of lack of initial information. In the article, the authors consider the share of the land plot in the value of a single real estate object as a result of various pricing factors. As a methodological basis for calculating the share of land in a single real estate object, the regression analysis method was used. The results of the present study can be used in cadastral valuation practices as well as market assessments (including forensic examinations) prepared to challenge the results of cadastral valuation. In addition, the authors made a number of proposals for the direction of further improvement of the proposed approach.
