Abstract:
There are many variation of Gauss-Jordan Calculator. Students can use it to solve various types of linear equations. But all of them just straightly show the result. There is no such calculator which shows the step by step to get the result. Therefore, the students cannot understand how to do Gauss-Jordan Elimination. One program that can be developed to make Gauss-Jordan calculator is matlab. This article examines matlab program which can help students to understand Gauss-Jordan Elimination methods. It tends to focus on the process to get solution. This program reveals with the step by step of operation in Gauss-Jordan to make reduced row-echelon form. Numbers of operations drawn in the solutions of linear simultaneous equations have also been showed. This paper has a propensity to appraise the performance of matlab program in solving linear equation problems with n variables while showing every steps of Gauss-Jordan Elimination. Further it has the potential to develop this program to be a calculator that can be access without opening matlab.

Abstract:
This article explores approaches to propagating interspecies understanding and examines the most appropriate ways to investigate the topic as a form of research. It addresses making, or Research through Design (RtD), as a more appropriate research method to generate new knowledge around interspecies embodied experience and to help audiences consider what it might be like to be a nonhuman animal than more traditional forms of scholarship. It presents a range of approaches to exploring interspecies understanding and then situates this knowledge in context with reference to a series of prototypes and design artifacts which constitute the body of work Equine Eyes. The Equine Eyes project consists of a mixed-reality headset, which uses immersive technology to help the user adopt the “point of view” of a horse. The work and the knowledge it produces is experiential in that it requires the audience to wear the headset which simulates horse-like vision to consider how tacit knowledge can be explored through making. The project adopts a RtD method to explore how speculative design artifacts, and play, can be utilised to help foster interspecies thinking and understanding and generate new speculative methods for interspecies design practice. It emphasizes the importance of developing usable speculative design artifacts that can be experienced by users to enact the speculation as an embodied experience.

Abstract:
Purpose The feasibility and acceptability of using an Interactive Voice Response (IVR)–based platform to facilitate peer support among older adults with diabetes was evaluated. Methods Diabetes patients with poor glycemic control receiving care at a Veterans' Affairs medical center completed a baseline survey, received rudimentary training, and were matched based on their diabetes-related self-management needs. They were asked to contact their partner weekly using the toll-free IVR calling line. At the completion of the 6-week period, participants completed follow-up surveys and brief telephone interviews. Results Forty of 76 patients screened for eligibility by telephone agreed to participate, and 38 completed the 6-week intervention (50% of eligible patients). More than 80% of the pairs spoke at least once a week for 2 of the 6 weeks of the intervention. A total of 79% of the participants reported that the IVR system was easy to use, and 90% stated that they would be more satisfied with their health care if this type of peer support service were available. Of the participants, 70% found the calls helpful in managing diabetes symptoms, 73% reported that their partner helped them improve their self-care, and 70% stated that they helped their partner do things to stay healthy. There were significant improvements in participants' reported diabetes self-care self-efficacy between baseline and follow-up assessments (P< .01). Qualitative assessments suggested that participants found meaning and positive reinforcement for their own self-care through supporting their partner's efforts to manage diabetes. Conclusions An IVR peer support intervention is feasible, acceptable to patients, and may have positive effects on patients' diabetes self-management and health outcomes that warrant more rigorous evaluation in a randomized trial.

Abstract:
Low density lipoprotein (LDL) apheresis is an effective treatment option for patients with severe hypercholesterolemia not adequately responding to diet and drug therapy. Membrane differential filtration (MDF), synonymous with double filtration plasmapheresis (DFPP), here named Lipidfiltration, and heparin-induced extracorporeal LDL-precipitation (HELP) are two of the five methods available for extracorporeal LDL apheresis. In this prospective investigation 6 patients with severe LDL-hypercholesterolemia and CAD were treated in a cross-over design with Lipidfiltration at two stages of technical development and HELP to compare the efficacy of these two LDL apheresis methods with respect to lowering and modifying plasma lipids and rheologically relevant plasma proteins, especially fibrinogen. In total, 44 LDL apheresis sessions were investigated. In weekly intervals, patients were treated with consecutive LDL apheresis sessions with either Lipidfiltration and HELP, treating identical plasma volumes. In one part of the investigation Lipidfiltration was performed with the novel Lipidfilter EC-50, combined with a newly developed blood and plasma therapy machine allowing optimized plasma heating. The results showed that the reduction rates of LDL-cholesterol, lipoprotein(a) and triglycerides were essentially identical for both methods. Also pretreatment levels of total cholesterol, triglycerides, LDL-cholesterol and HDL-cholesterol were not significantly different in both treatment groups. Both methods lead to a significant reduction of serum lipoproteins, especially for LDL-cholesterol, which was decreased by 61.4% with Lipidfiltration (treated plasma volume: 2998 ml) and 61.3% with HELP (treated plasma volume: 3013 ml). With respect to Lipidfiltration LDL-cholesterol reduction was more efficient with the novel Lipidfilter EC-50. Mean pretreatment HDL cholesterol concentrations remained unchanged. Comparing Cascadeflo AC-1770 with the novel Lipidfilter EC-50 reduction rates of HDL-cholesterol (17.4% versus 6.4%) and total protein (17.9% versus 7.8%) were significantly reduced. Lipidfiltration and HELP both resulted in a reduction of plasma viscosity and hemorheologically relevant plasma proteins, like fibrinogen.

Abstract:
An Optical Character Recognition (OCR) consists of three bold steps namely Preprocessing, Feature extraction, Classification. Methods of Feature extraction yield feature vectors based on which the classification of a testing pattern is executed. The paper aims at proposing some methods of feature extraction that may go a long way to recognize a Bengali numeral or character. Pixel Ex-OR Method presents a digital gating (Ex-OR) technique to extract the information in an image. Two successive elements of a row in image matrix have been Ex-ORed and the output is again Ex-ORed with the next element. Alphabetical coding codes a binary character image by means of letters of English alphabet. Directional features find gradient information using Sobel Masks to make position of stroke clear in an image. The features have been derived in eight standard directions and then these eight feature vectors are merged into four sets of features to reduce the system complexity and hence processing time is saved considerably. These features will help develop a Bengali numeral recognition system.

Abstract:
Considerable emphasis is being placed on quantitative risk assessment modelling as a basis for regulation of trade in food products. However, for models to be accurate, information about the behaviour of potential pathogens in foods needs to be available. The question is how to obtain this knowledge in a simple and cost effective way. One technique that has great potential is the use of reporter bacteria which have been genetically modified to express a phenotype that can be easily monitored, such as light production in luminescent organisms. Bacteria carrying these (lux) genes can easily be detected using simple luminometers or more sophisticated low light imaging equipment.By monitoring light output from these bacteria over time, it can easily be determined if the organism is growing (resulting in an increase in light emission), is dead (causing a decrease in light production) or is injured (light output remains constant). The use of imaging systems allows the response of bioluminescent bacteria to be studied directly on the food, making the technique even more useful. Applications of bioluminescence are discussed below and include use as reporters of gene expression; biocide efficacy and antibiotic susceptibility; sub-lethal injury; adhesion and biofilm formation; the microbial ecology of foods; pathogenesis; and as biosensors.

Abstract:
The prevalence of allergic diseases in the population varies in different countries from 10 to 40%. Improving the quality of diagnosis, treatment and prevention of allergic diseases is an urgent public health problem. The article deals with the etiology, pathogenesis, clinical picture and diagnosis of allergic diseases. The main stages of allergy diagnosis include a number of specific and non-specific examination methods. In particular, the authors consider various methods of laboratory diagnostics, discuss the indications and contraindications, and the benefits and drawbacks of various diagnostic methods. Although skin testing conducted by an allergist is the gold standard for the diagnosis of allergies, it has several contraindications and limitations, in the presence of which it is possible to perform laboratory diagnostic methods in vitro. For laboratory tests, it is necessary to choose a laboratory that uses modern methods of the third generation with an accuracy of 0.1 kU/L to detect allergic reactions, starting with the first class of significance. However, despite the importance of laboratory diagnostic methods, the conclusion should be made only after comparing with the following: clinical picture, data of the allergic, pharmacolo gical and food history, results of instrumental studies and skin tests (in t he absence of contraindications to their use). Abstract:
I begin by reconsidering the arguments of John Taurek and Elizabeth Anscombe on whether the number of people we can help counts morally. I then consider arguments that numbers should count given by F. M. Kamm and Thomas Scanlon, and criticism of them by Michael Otsuka. I examine how different conceptions of the moral method known as pairwise comparison are at work in these different arguments and what the ideas of balancing and tie-breaking signify for decision-making in various types of cases. I conclude by considering how another moral method that I call virtual divisibility functions and what it helps reveal about an argument by Otsuka against those who do not think numbers count.

Abstract:
Recently much has been written about sustainability and greening and the issue is likely to continue to resurface on the agendas of decision makers. This paper addresses one aspect of the topic: that of sustainability and greening through information technology management. The authors review existing research and publications on the topic and conclude that while much research is available on methods of enhancing sustainability and greening, less exists on guidelines to help gauge success or failure of these methods. To help alleviate this shortcoming, the authors propose a model – called the Greening through Information Technology Model (GITM) – based on the framework of Capability Maturity Model.
