Introduction: The sipunculans are a group of marine invertebrates that have been little studied in the tropical eastern Pacific (TEP). Antillesoma antillarum is a species belonging to the monospecific family Antillesomatidae, considered widely distributed in tropical and subtropical localities across the globe. Objective: The main objective of this work was to examine the morphological and molecular differences between specimens from both coasts of tropical America to clarify the taxonomy of this species. Methods: We examined the morphology with material from the Mexican Caribbean and southern

Abstract:
The following taxonomic key to the species of Lasioglossum Curtis, 1833 subgenera Lasioglossum and Leuchalictus Warncke, 1975 is adapted from McGinley (1986). This key is limited to those species known or expected to occur in Oregon based on McGinley (1986), and subsequent collection efforts in the Pacific Northwest by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (Engler, et al 2018a-h; Engler and Stockenberg 2024a-g, Ikerd and Engler 2021) and the Master Melittologist Oregon Bee Atlas (Best et al 2021, 2022), as well as unpublished specimen records totaling 5,190 specimens. Abstract:
In 2024 we marked the first year in a five year cooperative agreement between the Master Melittologist Oregon Bee Atlas Program (OBA) and the United States Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) for the inventory and monitoring of bees on National Wildlife Refuges (NWRs) in Pacific Region 1 and other federal lands in the Pacific Northwest. The Master Melittologist program is an initiative of the Oregon State University Extension Service which is provided, in part, to train volunteer Master Melittologists to collect museum quality native bee specimens in service to the Oregon Bee Atlas. Abstract:
The first Important Shark and Ray Areas (ISRA) regional expert workshop was held in hybrid mode (in person and online) in Bogotá, Colombia from 3–7 October 2022. The goal was to identify and delineate three dimensional and discrete portions of habitat that are critical to the survival of sharks, rays, and chimaeras, and that have the potential to be managed for conservation. The region covered was the Central and South American Pacific, from the Gulf of California in Mexico to southern Chile. This scientific collaboration amongst regional and global experts resulted in the identification of 65

Abstract:
The Kelp Report Card is an annual, data-driven evaluation of kelp canopy dynamics in the Northeast Pacific relative to historical trends. This analysis spans the West Coast of the United States through Baja California, Mexico and mobilizes nearly 40 years of Landsat satellite-derived kelp canopy data to provide a summary of 2022 trends in kelp canopy to inform strategic conservation, restoration, management, and research of this important natural resource and ecosystem. The data underlying this report card are publicly available in interactive format on Kelpwatch.org.

Full text
Abstract:
In 2021, landbird surveys were conducted at Kalaupapa National Historical Park on the island of Molokaʻi to assess changes in species composition, distribution, and population densities since 2005. Point-transect distance sampling surveys were conducted on six transects at 50 landbird monitoring stations within an 1,834-hectare area. A total of nine landbird species were detected, with the ʻApapane (Himatione sanguinea) the only endemic Hawaiian species detected. Sufficient detections of six species allowed for population density and abundance estimates, which were compared to 2005 estimates u

Abstract:
In the last two years, the United States has reversed the post-World War II trend toward the lowering of trade barriers and a commitment towards multilateral free trade. Citing a need to “level the playing field” and hold trading partners accountable to their commitments, the current Administration has moved towards a more protectionist and perhaps mercantilist position vis-à-vis trade policy. One of the Administration’s first actions in this regard was the decision to leave the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) agreement, followed thereafter by raising tariffs on steel and aluminum imports.
