The informant describes the ways in which her two languages, English and Spanish, developed and have been used throughout her life. She narrates how living with two languages has affected her in each period of her life. The remarkable synchrony between changes in temperature recorded in Greenland ice cores and variations in N isotope records from sedimentary cores recovered from the Arabian Sea and the Eastern Tropical North Pacific (ETNP) has provided evidence for teleconnections between changes in marine denitrification in the tropics and climate variations in the northern high latitudes. A total of 627 echinoderm species (12 crinoids, 185 asteroids, 185 ophiuroids, 95 echinoids and 150 holothuroids) are known from the shallow and deep waters between southern California and southern Peru, and an up-to-date classification scheme is given for them. This dissertation charts the social interactions, work experiences, and routes traveled by Asian workers within and between the colonial Philippines and Mexico between 1571 and 1720. Residents of early colonial Mexico called these workers chinos. Most free chinos were Filipinos, but enslaved chinos had origins all over Asia. Chinos crossed the Pacific on the Manila galleons, which sailed between the Philippines and Mexico. I studied the East Pacific green turtle, Chelonia mydas agassizii , at the Bahia de los Angeles foraging grounds of the Gulf of California from July 1995 to October 1999. Entanglement nets were used to capture 153 green turtles among 16 capture sites. Pooled straight carapace length (SCL; mean ± SE) was 75.1 ± 0.79 cm. Though there was no significant variation in mean SCL among years, there was evidence of a difference in mean SCL among capture sites. The explosion of the Deepwater Horizon oil platform on April 20, 2010 resulted in the second largest oil spill in history. In this study, the distribution and chemical composition of hydrocarbons within a 45 km radius of the blowout was investigated. A complete set of hydrocarbon data were acquired from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and from BP, including data from 16 research missions collected over eight weeks. Isopods in the genus Tylos are distributed in tropical and subtropical sandy intertidal beaches throughout the world.
