Abstract:
When companies learned that logistics can be used to achieve strategic goals, it ceased to be perceived only as a source of necessary costs that need to be controlled. In this dissertation the potential benefits of selected sources of long term competitive advantage are questioned. The research in the dissertation focuses on international transport of goods, its employment and organization, and on how logistics capabilities can be employed to increase customer satisfaction and thus the competitive advantage of the entire supply chain. The potential sources of long term competitive advantage are cooperation and information sharing among firms in the international supply chain. The author hypothesised that cooperation and information sharing are positively related to logistics capabilities. Logistics capabilities are hypothesised to be positively related to customer satisfaction. To capture the impact of external environment, the lead time uncertainty and the demand uncertainty have been included in the model. The impact of modern information technologies on supply chain management has not been disregarded and information technologies serve as moderating variable in the model. The proposed model is based on the Transaction costs theory and the Resource-Based View. The qualitative research method of case studies had been selected and used to support the model. The research involves three cases. Interviews with professionals, company sources and secondary data mainly academy journals, supply chain management literature and web pages of selected companies and international institutions provided the foundation for the research. The contribution of this dissertation is in including the impact of the external forces in the model, in focusing on the relationships that a firm has with its supply chain partners, and in an in-depth analysis of relationships among triad of subjects -- buyer, seller and logistics service provider. Also, a new definition of logistics capabilities has been proposed. Examples of real situations of organization of international transportation of goods are presented. Cooperation and information sharing can serve as sources of long term competitive advantage, but their implementation is in many cases limited due to varied reasons. The size of the firm is in some cases one of them, other limitations are named in the text. Suggestions for practitioners are included.

International drone goods transportation - Abstract, key words The aim of this work is to explore the possibilities of liability concepts in relation to unmanned aerial vehicles that transport goods in the international transport of goods. For this purpose, a comparison of the normative theory of František Weyr and the way of functioning of formally logical systems is performed within the work. This normative theory has a great impact on the actual functioning of the information system itself, which is exempt from the content of its own rule contained in the norm itself. There are described methods of acknowledging machines and the method of interpretation and application of individual rules contained in norms themselves that are being interpreted by these machines. All this precisely with regard to the fact that unmanned aerial vehicles cannot learn to distinguish between inner values of norms, on which individual legal norms are based. This is because unmanned aerial vehicles cannot achieve this with the help of a tool of pure intelligence alone. Since unmanned aerial vehicles interpret and apply their own internal norms to the outside world only as they are set within their normative setting. This normative setting is also related to the protection against banal evil and the protection of notional...

Abstract:
1 Abstract The diploma thesis is focused on the issue of the carrier's liability in the international carriage of goods. The topic is narrowed to the carriage by sea, being the most significant mode of carriage as regards the volume of carried goods; its international regulation is disunited and full of specifics justifying the need for a deeper analysis. Relevance of the topic consists in gradual establishment of new trends of transport, technological development and particularly in the continuing need for unification of the legal regulation. The objective of the thesis is to introduce and analyze the respective rules, to compare the rules with each other and to evaluate them. The first chapter is dedicated to a theoretical introduction containing a definition of the liability and providing basic information about transport, carriage and subjects and division thereof. Regulation of carriage according to the Czech law is comprised in this chapter as well. The second chapter is aimed at the carriage by sea in a broader context. This chapter deals with characteristics of this mode of carriage, especially as for division thereof, types of transport documents and typical subjects. Further, the basics of the Czech, European and international regulation of the carriage by sea are outlined. The third chapter is...

Abstract:
It is expected that the massive expansion of carriage of goods that went on in past couple of decades will soon resume after the worldwide recession. Due to its flexibility, speed, ability to deliver "door to door", low price and other positive qualities the most popular type of carriage is carriage of goods by road, which is also the type of carriage of goods that this thesis is mainly focused on. The goal of the thesis is to describe and explain legal aspects of international carriage of goods by road with a special focus on the liability of the carrier. The most important legal regulation that governs the area of international carriage of goods by road is the Convention on the Contract for the International Carriage of Goods by Road (hereinafter the CMR Convention) that has been signed on May 19, 1956. It is an exceptional piece of legislation, which is in effect for more then fifty years with only two minor changes since its adoption.

Abstract:
The purpose of this thesis is to offer an overview of current legislative situation in international carriage of goods. Special attention is dedicated to carrier's liability in international transport of goods. In a global world, it is vital to keep balance between the rights and duties of both the carrier and the shipper. Otherwise, international trade would become next to impossible to perform. Therefore, dealing with the topic of carrier's liability might clarify certain aspects and possibly bring benefits to both contracting parties. This thesis consists of nine chapters. The three initial chapters present private international law and its methods. Next, the question of liability is briefly introduced. Finally, basic terms such as the carrier and the shipper are defined. In one of its subdivisions, the third chapter also mentions national regulations relevant to the topic discussed. On the contrary, the thesis as a whole addresses rules contained in international treaties. The following chapters are targeted on individual modes of transport, in order of appearance: carriage by rail, carriage by road, carriage by air, carriage by sea, carriage by inland waterways. However, not all of them are granted equal attention. The chapters covering carriage by road and by sea are essential. The reason for...

Abstract:
The liability of the carrier in international carriage of goods is a classical issue, which is well known, but still actual. The increasing intensity of international trade has impact on the demand for the transport services. Different rules in different legal systems constitute a hindrance for a proper functioning of international transport services. Nowadays, this problem is well solved by the international conventions containing certain rules, regarding contract of carriage in international transport of goods. However, these conventions govern the contract of carriage only in particular mode of transport which is the reason why it is necessary to describe the liability of the carrier in all these particular modes of transport. The starting point of this thesis is to describe the applicable sets of rules, which can govern the contract of carriage in international transport. Today, the relation among these sets of rules can appear be genuinely complicated. The most crucial point seems to solve the problem of relation between the conventions containing certain rules regarding contract of carriage and the legislation of the EU. In the EU, the most important sets of rules are Regulation (EC) No. 593/2008 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 17 June 2008 on the law applicable to...

Abstract:
Liability in International Maritime Transport Main aim of this thesis is a brief introduction to the maritime law, the applicable liability systems, impact of carriage of goods by sea on trade in the Czech Republic and possible future development of international trade. The relationships in the maritime area may be quite complicated and the purpose of this thesis is to present them in a reader-friendly, comprehensible manner. The original reason that led me into choice of this topic is my personal interest in both international trade and ships. International transport may be considered as subsidiary to the sale or exchange of goods but is of essential relevance for the conclusion of trade. Approximately 90% of non-bulk cargo is shipped via ocean. The importance of the international maritime transport is therefore enormous and together with broadening globalization, the legislation in the area of maritime transport gradually increases its effect on the Czech Republic. Moreover, the freight and other costs of shipping considerably influence purchase price of goods. Liability is then crucial when deciding who is to bear the costs of loss, damage to the goods, late delivery of the goods, insurance, bank payment fees, packaging, etc. The text is divided into six chapters. The introductory chapter opens the...

Abstract:
52 Resumé The growth of international trade, globalization and regional integration brings good conditions for international unification of bussiness law, especially the arrangements of international contract of sale and international contracts for carriage. Carriage is a naturally complementary to the sale. Conflicts of law or private international law has two methods how to solve cases of international contracts. One of them is the use of conflict rule that identifies certain system of law (i. e. law of particular country) to be used. In European union, there is a unified conflict rule for international contracts. It is Convention on the Law Applicable to Contractual Obligations, also called Rome Convention. The Rome convention is soon to be replaced by the so called Rome I Regulation issued by European Parliament and Council of the European Union. The leading rule of this legal form is the closest connection and characteristic fulfilment. The contracts for carriage are object of special conflict rule. In fact conflict rules has little use in international carriage law beacause of direct rules contained in international conventions on this matter. These unimodal conventions cover up the international legal form of contracts for carriage. This unification is the main source od rules regulating private...

Abstract:
The thesis diploma is focused on the issue of insurance in maritime transport of goods from international point of view. Marine insurance is very important part of sea transport and belongs among the most important components of its smooth functioning. The objective of the thesis diploma is to introduce and explain the topic of marine insurance in comprehensive manner, using domestic and foreing law, literature and judicial decisions. The thesis diploma is focused on English law which is considered to be the most developed in this field. The reason I chose this topic is my personal interest in both marine insurance and sea transport, since I consider both fields to be very important part of international commerce. The first chapter is dedicated to the definition of relevant terms, subsumption of sea transport into a legal framework of carriage and forwardning relations and division of sea transport. The first chapter provides as well a list of important legal enactments relevant to the topic of the thesis diploma.
