Abstract:
Les reseaux teleinformatiques sont de plus en plus complexes et generalement composes d'elements d'origine diverse, de conception et de technologie differentes. Ainsi, la composition heterogene de ces reseaux a fait naitre le besoin de gerer l'ensemble de ces elements par le biais d'une administration de reseaux heterogenes. L'administration de reseaux heterogenes a ete, depuis ces dernieres annees, un domaine qui a attire bon nombre de sujets de recherche et de developpements, car la normalisation qui s'y rattache met beaucoup de temps a se mettre en place. Le travail de recherche de cette these concerne la specification et l'implantation du cur d'une plate-forme d'administration de reseaux heterogenes, consistant a mettre en place un generateur de gestionnaire d'une base d'informations de gestion. Cette base est nommee management information base (mib) par les standards de normalisation tels que l'iso et l'osi nm/forum. Apres une ebauche de l'etat de l'art actuel dans le domaine d'administration de reseaux, cette these reprend les principes de la plate-forme aide (administration-intelligence-diagnostic-expertise) developpee au sein du laboratoire masi, dont l'objectif est de resoudre le probleme de l'heterogeneite dans la gestion de reseaux. Ensuite, une specification et une exploitation detaillees du gestionnaire de mib sont decrites, pour enfin presenter les demarches effectuees, afin d'implanter le generateur

Derivado do estudo do fenômeno de mesmo nome existente entre os humanos, vem se estabelecendo um conceito de confiança específico para a área computacional. Tendo aplicação diversificada, tal conceito tem sido muito usado para avaliar o comportamento de diversos componentes de redes computacionais e principalmente para classificar nós (componentes de rede, por exemplo, roteadores), de modo a identificar aqueles que possuem intenções maliciosas e perigosas. Esta dissertação propõe a criação de uma MIB (Management Information Base) de gerenciamento da confiança em redes ad hoc, para coletar dados sobre o comportamento dos nós de uma rede e, a partir desses dados, aplicar um cálculo de confiança, de modo a tornar possível observar se o comportamento de cada nó está sendo adequado para o bom funcionamento da rede. Para a realização deste trabalho, foi necessária a pesquisa de métricas de confiança aplicadas em redes ad hoc para a implementação da MIB de confiança. Para efeito de validação da proposta, foram usadas as métricas relacionadas ao protocolo OLSR (Optimized Link State Routing Protocol), no qual se observa o comportamento do nó escolhido como MPR (Multipoint-Relays), em conformidade com o trabalho (De Sousa Jr. & Puttini, 2010). A especificação da MIB deu-se através da linguagem de definição SMI (Structure Management Information). O ambiente de validação foi desenvolvido com a modificação do deamon do OLSR (OLSRD), empregando o aplicativo NET-SNMP para validar e acessar a MIB, apresentando a confiança observada em um ambiente controlado. ______________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACT
Resulting from the study of the phenomena with the same name existent among humans, there is an emerging concept of trust applied to the computational area. With a diversified application, this concept has been widely used for evaluating the behavior of several computational network components, especially for node classification (e.g., routers), in order to identify those that present malicious intentions. This master thesis proposes the creation of a MIB (Management Information Base) for trust management in ad hoc networks, allowing the gathering of data about the behavior of the nodes within a network and, according with this data, the estimation of a trust index that is used to verify if each node is acting adequately for the correct network operation. To accomplish this work, a survey of trust metrics in ad hoc networks was performed, giving way to the choice of objects for creating a trust MIB specific to this environment. In order to validate the proposal, metrics related to the OLSR (Optimized Link State Routing) protocol have been used to observe the behavior of the node selected as MPR (Multipoint-Relays) in OLSR, according to the work of (De Sousa Jr. & Puttini, 2010). The proposed TRUST-MIB was specified according to the rules of the SMI (Structure of Management Information) RFC related to the Internet Simple Network Management Protocol – SNMP. The environment for experimental validation of the proposed TRUST-MIB, and its utilization within a network management process, has been developed by extending the OLSR daemon (OLSRD) with software modules for metrics gathering an MIB operation, and using the network management system NET-SMTP for accessing and validating the MIB, presenting the trust observed in a controlled experimental environment.

A virtualização de rede surgiu como uma alternativa para contornar as limitações no uso compartilhado da infraestrutura atual da Internet. Com a virtualização, sob uma mesma estrutura física, ou substrato, é possível a construção de múltiplas redes virtuais, cada uma das quais empregando seus próprios protocolos, mecanismos de endereçamento e políticas de forma independente e isolada. Essas redes são formadas por roteadores, interfaces e enlaces virtuais mapeados sobre componentes reais. Por serem desacopláveis, os elementos virtuais trazem uma grande flexibilidade, sendo possível a construção de múltiplas redes sobrepostas para usuários com demandas distintas, por exemplo. Roteadores virtuais podem migrar de um roteador físico para outro, conforme necessidades de manutenção ou balanceamento de carga. Além disso, a possibilidade de se conduzir experimentos de rede em uma estrutura real, sujeita as condições de utilização e de tráfego que normalmente serão encontradas na prática, sem que se precise interromper a operação da rede, traz a possibilidade de se instalar poderosos e sofisticados ambientes de teste (testbeds ). Nesse ambiente, contudo, existem desafios de pesquisa a serem tratados e questões em aberto, em especial com relação ao gerenciamento de dispositivos. Em uma rede com suporte a virtualização, os roteadores físicos precisam ser gerenciados para que roteadores virtuais possam ser criados, modificados, duplicados, destruídos e movimentados. As interfaces de gerenciamento atuais, porém, não suportam tais ações de forma efetiva, obrigando o administrador dos dispositivos a realizar intervenções manuais através de interfaces de linha de comandos (CLIs) não padronizadas. Existe, assim, a necessidade de se definir uma interface de gerenciamento adequada para roteadores físicos que abrigam roteadores virtuais. Tendo como objetivo abordar estas questões, este trabalho consiste na investigação de uma solução para gerenciar roteadores virtuais. Para isto foram levantadas e definidas as principais ações de gerenciamento necessárias aos dispositivos, de forma integrada, visando a definição de uma interface padronizada de gerencia- mento para cenários heterogêneos de utilização.
Network virtualization emerged as an alternative to overcome limitations on use of the shared infrastructure of current Internet. With virtualization, over the same physical structure, or substrate, it is possible to build multiple virtual networks, each of them employing its own protocols, addressing mechanisms and policies, on an isolated and independent way. These networks are formed by virtual routers, interfaces and links mapped to real components. Because they are detachable, the virtual elements bring a great flexibility, being possible constructing many overlaid networks for users with different demands, for example. Virtual routers can migrate from one physical router to another as needed form maintenance or load balancing. Besides, the possibily of running network experiments in a real structure, subject to the conditions of use and traffic that will normally be encountered in practice, without interrupting network operation, make it possible to install powerfull and sofisticated testbeds. In such environment, however, there are research challenges to be managed and open questions, specially related to devices management. In a network with virtu- alization support, physicall routers must be managed so that virtual routers can be created, modified, copied, removed and moved. Nevertheless, current management interfaces do not support such action in an effictive way, compelling the devices manager to make manual interventions through non standardized command line interfaces (CLIs). So, there exist the need to define an adequate management interface for physicall routers that host virtual routers. Having as an objective to address these questions, this work consist in investi- gating a solution to manage virtual routers. For this, were raised and defined the main management actions required for devices, through an integrated way, aiming to define a standardized management interface for heterogeneous use scenarios.

Abstract:
The purpose of this thesis is to evaluate the medical data management expert system at the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit of the Montreal Children's Hospital. The objective of this study is to provide a systematic method to evaluate and, progressively improve the knowledge embedded in the medical expert system.
Following a literature survey on evaluation techniques and architecture of existing expert systems, an overview of the Patient Data Management System hardware and software components is presented. The design of the Expert Monitoring System is elaborated. Following its installation in the intensive Care Unit, the performance of the Expert Monitoring System is evaluated, operating on real vital sign data and corrections were formulated. A progressive evaluation technique, new methodology for evaluating an expert system knowledge-base is proposed for subsequent corrections and evaluations of the Expert Monitoring System.

Abstract:
There are more requirements for business to be able to run its operations successfully in terms of legal compliance and revenue streams optimisations. Businesses are placing high demands on Information and Communication Technology (ICT) to adapt to changing conditions. However, ICT organisations tasked with providing increased service levels at lower costs do not have the resources to reinvent itself with every technological or regulatory change. Without frameworks in place to leverage automation and best practices, these ICT, organisations are consumed with the day-to-day operations of ICT with little time and few resources left to develop new services that add value to the business. There is, therefore, a definite requirement for a central repository system in order to enhance ICT service delivery and strategy for continuing to improve service, lowering per-service delivery costs and enabling ICT organisations to bring new services that support competitive advantages. The company of choice in the study is Sentech, which has recently adopted some of the Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) processes; these are service desk, incident management, and change management. The company is still in the middle of deciding on whether to implement the configuration management process which will eventually lead to Configuration Management Database (CMDB). This study attempted to indicate the role and the importance of running the CMDB together with the rest of other ITI L processes. The study also indicated how the other processes cannot function effectively without a proper CMDB platform. The primary objective of the study was to identify the importance and the role of CMDB in an ICT environment. The organisation implemented a number of processes such as configuration and change management. To be successful with using the ITIL change management process, it is important that the people, processes, and technologies work together in a coordinated manner to overcome the political roadblocks that usually inhibit cooperation between groups in the same organisation. The study has indicated that the current ITIL processes, such as change management are not achieving the required results due to a lack of proper CMDB. General recommendations on the implementation of the CMOB based on the study were: •Get executive and Board of Directors' support on the implementation of CMOB. •The organisation needs to redefine the role of the General Manager - ICT to a more appropriate role of Chief Information Officer reporting directly to the board. •The organisation must define detailed business processes and procedures. •The organisation must set a clear scope of the CMOB. •The relevant stakeholders on the CMOB must be identified . •A full state of the current ICT processes must be determined. •The business case on the CMOS must be formulated and documented. •Set goals on what the CMOB will have to achieve. •The organisation must create a plan on the implementation of the CMOB. •Identify responsibilities on maintaining the CMOS. •Create awareness within the organisation around CMOB. •Training on CMOB must be offered to the personnel. •The organisation must baseline all ICT assets. •Plan for ongoing management of the CMOB. It is believed that the objective of the study has been met. From the investigation, it has been clear that there is a dire need for an implementation of a central repository system like the CMOS to support other service delivery and support processes. If the recommendations are implemented within Sentech, the company will secure a more effective and efficient service delivery on the ICT platform. Furthermore, Sentech can become an ICT leader and gain a competitive advantage over its fellow competitors.

With the evolution of technology the system becomes large and complex. The probability of faults to occur in the system also increases with the size of the system. It is almost impossible to make the system fault free thus Fault Management System (FMS) is required to make the system fault tolerant which keeps the system operational even in the presence of transient fault and recover the system. The FMS is quite complex and sophisticated for large systems and it requires smart technique to verify FMS. Fault injection technique is emerging technique to verify the system robustness and its fault tolerance. There are various types of fault injection techniques and each type has its own characteristics. In this thesis, Ericsson’s Digital Unit of Radio Base Station (RBS) is used as target system. This research work involves the study of RBS hardware, software and also various fault injection techniques. Previously each module of FMS is tested in lab separately. With this new approach the complete FMS is tested in lab while system being operational. Based on this investigation, Hybrid FI technique is proposed and implemented to verify its feasibility. This technique requires change in target’s hardware and fault injector software. Experiment is performed on RBS connected to client via network. The result of an experiment is compiled in the end of this report. This research work concludes that the FMS can be verified with FI technique. This technique not only reduces the verification time but also increase the reliability of the system by increasing the fault coverage.

Abstract:
Over the past decade, a growing number of organisations have been developing executive information systems (EIS) to enhance the performance of their executive managers and facilitate their work. Such systems cannot improve individual and organisational performance if they aren't used. Thus, understanding the key determinants of EIS utilisation is an essential step toward enhancing their impact on individual users and organisational performance. Numerous case studies and explorative surveys of EIS development and implementation have been conducted, but an extensive literature review has shown that theory-based systematic investigations of post implementation use of EIS are rare, especially in the UK. The study reported here developed and tested a model of EIS usage. The proposed model integrates key constructs from the information systems success factors research stream into the theoretical frame of the technology acceptance model and other theories from social psychology (the theory of reasoned action, the theory of planned behaviour, and the Triandis model of attitude and behaviour). According to the proposed model, EIS usage is determined by six independent variables, namely perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, information quality, involvement, subjective norm and facilitating conditions. In turn, perceived usefulness is influenced by perceived ease of use, perceived information quality, user involvement, subjective norm, and facilitating conditions. User involvement, perceived information quality and perceived ease of use are determined by four external factors, namely, user participation, information systems maturity, computer training, and user experience. The model was tested against data from 216 EIS users across various organisations. The results provided considerable support to the research model. In order of importance, subjective norm, perceived usefulness, facilitating conditions, information quality, and ease of use were found to explain 47.1% of the variance in EIS use. User involvement, information quality, subjective norm, ease of use, and facilitating conditions were found to explain 47.6% of the variance in perceived usefulness. Length of EIS use and computer use skill were found to explain 9% of the variance in perceived ease of use. IS maturity and user participation were found to explain 11% of the variance in EIS information quality. Finally, user participation was found to explain 2.4% of the variance in involvement. Implications of the study findings for practitioners and researchers are outlined.

Abstract:
Implementing effective leadership strategies in management of information systems (MIS) can positively influence overall organizational performance. This study was an exploration of the general problem of failure to lead effectively in the current knowledge-based economy and the resulting deleterious effects on organizational performance and threats to continuing organizational viability. The specific problem was the lack of understanding regarding the interaction of leadership processes with MIS functions and the impact on organizational success. Managers' and employees' lived experiences of leadership in small- to medium-sized enterprises were explored, as well as how those experiences influenced the organization's adaptive responses regarding technology and performance in the knowledge-based economy. The complexity theory of leadership was applied as the theoretical foundation for this study. A phenomenological methodology was used. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews and analyzed through open coding to identify emergent themes from the data. The themes were leaders motivate employees' positive work-related behaviors, effective communication skills ensure accessibility and efficiency of the organizational information system, and leadership practices influence business productivity. This study contributes to social change by providing insights for managers and employees regarding effective strategies for working as teams and networks via the use of nontraditional leadership theory, which promotes company sustainability by demonstrating the benefits of responding to the changing economy.

ENGLISH ABSTRACT: Managing any government institution has become increasingly complicated as the requirements for accountability; streamlined operations and greater flexibility have multiplied. As effective and efficient management becomes more complex and the demands of constant change are more insistent, consequently the role of information as an organisational resource assumes greater importance for management on all levels inside the organisation. Management relies heavily on information to thrive. The value of information is derived from the actions that managers take as a result of using information. Information management consumes a large portion of any organisations finite resources and it would be to the benefit of the South African National Defence Force to achieve goal congruence between the information management objectives and the organisational objectives. If information is to be viewed as a resource of comparable importance to staff assets, and finance it must be procured and managed as purposefully as any other resource. Information can be seen as a strategic resource for any organisation and must be managed accordingly. The Public Service Act, Act 103 of 1994, which classifies information as a strategic resource for the public sector, confirms this. The formal information management strategy of the Department of Defence must therefore enable the information systems of the South African National Defence Force to support the military and business objectives of the Department of Defence. This strategy specifies how an organisation matches its scares resources and capabilities with the opportunities in the environment to accomplish its objectives. The structure of the South African National Defence Force, before transformation, was centralised and structured into vertical silos. The current information systems in use are therefore functionally orientated supporting the centralised structure (vertical silos). Transformation restructured the South African National Defence Force into a more integrated forces concept (general support base concept), suggesting emphasis on co-operation, joint planning and joint operations. The management of information must move away from the islands and silos towards an integrated and shared environment that enables the integration of information amongst the integrated forces of the organisation. This joint engagement strategy places certain requirements on the resource information to enable it to support the military and business strategy of the Department of Defence. The South African National Defence Force is moving unavoidably closer to an accountability framework based on transparency and compliance with legislation and regulations. An integral part of this framework is the requirements to provide clear and unambiguous evidence of how and why decisions are made. If managers and commanders are going to be more accountable, information must be available to assist them in decision-making and control. With the introduction of the Public Finance Management Act and the Promotion of Access to Information Act, the ability to adhere to the requirements of accountability and responsibility has become a necessity. Relevant and timely information for decision-making and control purposes therefore must be provided to managers and commanders to assist them in decision-making and control. In its present state the available architecture of the information systems of the South African National Defence Force is inadequate to provide the required information for decision-making and control purposes. The information management practices including the information systems therefore must be improved to ensure adherence to the requirements of accountability and responsibility. This study is directed towards the improvement of the quality of information provided by the information systems of the Department of Defence to assist commanders and managers in decision-making and the provision of information for control purposes inside the general support base concept of the SANDF. This improvement can only be achieved by changing budget priorities to ensure a higher priority on information technology across the organisation. Failure to improve the information management practices will result in the ineffective execution of the defence strategies.

Bestuurders steun sterk op informasie om suksesvol te wees en die waarde van informasie word dan juis bepaal deur die aksies wat bestuurders neem deur informasie te gebruik. Informasiebestuur neem 'n groot deel van enige organisasie se beperkte hulpbronne in beslag en dit sal voordelig wees vir die Suid-Afrikaanse Nasionale Weermag om doelwitooreenstemming te bewerkstellig tussen informasiebestuurdoelwitte en organisasiedoelwitte. Indien informasie gesien word as 'n hulpbron van betreklike belang vir personeel, bates en finansies moet dit net so doelgerig as enige ander hulpbron bekom en bestuur word. Informasie is 'n strategiese hulpbron vir enige organisasie en moet dienooreenkomstig bestuur word. Dit word bevestig deur die Staatsdienswet, Wet 103 van 1994, waarin informasie as 'n strategiese hulpbron in die staatsdiens geklassifiseer word. Die formele informasie bestuurstrategie van die Departement van Verdediging moet dus die informasiestelsels van die Suid-Afrikaanse Nasionale Weermag in staat stel om die militêre en besigheidstrategie van die Departement van Verdediging te ondersteun. Hierdie strategie spesifiseer hoe 'n organisasie sy skaars hulpbronne en vermoëns verbind aan geleenthede in sy omgewing om sy doelwitte te bereik. Voor transformasie was die struktuur van die Suid-Afrikaanse Nasionale Weermag gesentraliseerd en in vertikale silo’s gestruktureer. Die informasiestelsels huidig in gebruik is derhalwe funksioneel georiënteer en ondersteun die sentrale struktuur (vertikale silo’s). Danksy transformasie is die Suid-Afrikaanse Nasionale Weermag hergestruktureerd in 'n meer geïntegreerde magtekonsep ("general support base concept") met die fokus op samewerking, gesamentlike operasies en gesamentlike beplanning. Die bestuur van informasie moet wegbeweeg van die eilande en silo’s-benadering na 'n meer geïntegreerde en gedeelde omgewing wat die integrasie van informasie tussen die geïntegreerde magte van die organisasie moontlik maak. Hierdie gesamentlike strategie stel sekere vereistes aan die hulpbroninformasie om die ondersteuning van die militêre en besigheidstrategie van die Departement van Verdediging moontlik te maak. Die Suid-Afrikaanse Nasionale Weermag beweeg onvermydelik nader aan ‘n aanspreeklikheidsraamwerk wat gebaseer is op deursigtigheid en die nakoming van wetgewing en regulasies. ‘n Integrale deel van hierdie raamwerk is die vereiste om duidelike en betroubare bewyse oor besluitneming te verskaf. Indien bestuurders en bevelvoerders meer aanspreeklik gehou gaan word, moet informasie beskikbaar wees om hulle by te staan in besluitneming en beheer. Met die implementering van die Wet op die Bestuur van Openbare Finansies ("The Public Finance Management Act") en die Wet op Openbaarmaking van Informasie ("Promotion of Access to Information Act") het die vermoë van organisasies om te voldoen aan die vereistes van aanspreeklikheid en verantwoordelikheid ‘n noodsaaklikheid geword. Relevante en tydige informasie vir besluitneming en beheer moet dus voorsien word aan bestuurders en bevelvoerders om hulle by te staan in besluitneming en beheer. Die huidige stand van argitektuur van die informasiestelsels van die Suid-Afrikaanse Nasionale Weermag is onvoldoende om die vereiste informasie vir besluitneming en beheer te verskaf. Die praktyke vir die bestuur van informasie moet dus verbeter word om uitvoering te gee aan die vereistes van aanspreekilikheid en verantwoordelikheid. Hierdie studie is gerig op die verbetering van die gehalte van informasie wat verskaf word deur die informasiestelsels van die Departement van Verdediging om bevelvoerders en bestuurders by te staan in besluitneming, asook die verskaffing van informasie vir beheer doeleindes binne die "general support base"-konsep van die SANW. Hierdie verbetering kan slegs bereik word deur begrotingsprioriteite te verander om te verseker dat ‘n hoër begrotingsprioriteit op informasietegnologie geplaas word reg deur die organisasie. Die onvermoë om die informasiebestuurspraktyke te verbeter sal die bereiking van die verdedigingstrategieë nadelig beïnvloed.

Resumo: Preservar os registros do conhecimento é um fator fundamental para se perpetuar a história e para o desenvolvimento do ser humano. Nessa perspectiva, os documentos produzidos e recebidos por uma instituição constituem-se em fontes de extrema importância para pesquisa, seja ela, cultural, histórica administrativa, jurídica, científica ou acadêmica. Vale lembrar que a informação, independente do suporte, é o elemento básico para a produção e disseminação do conhecimento. Dentro desse contexto, destacam-se as fotografias depositadas no Sistema de Arquivos da Universidade Estadual de Londrina - SAUEL - que por diversos motivos e, diferentemente dos documentos textuais, foram preservadas na sua totalidade. Porém, não se adotou procedimentos relacionados à seleção e avaliação arquivísticas, o que ocasionou um acúmulo desse gênero documental na instituição e, consequentemente, dificuldade em acessá-lo e disponibilizá-lo. De acordo com esse cenário houve, portanto, a necessidade de estudos e análises a respeito da importância e da elaboração de diretrizes para seleção e avaliação das fotografias sem princípios arquivísticos e que visassem sua guarda ou descarte. Abstract: Preserving the records of knowledge is a fundamental factor in perpetuating the history and development of the human being. In this perspective, the documents produced and received by an institution constitute extremely important sources for research, be it cultural, historical, administrative, legal, scientific or academic. It is worth remembering that information, independent of medium, is the basic element for the production and dissemination of knowledge. Within this context, the photographs deposited in the Archive System of the State University of Londrina - SAUEL - stand out for various reasons and, unlike the textual documents, were preserved in their totality, without any procedure related to archival selection and appraisal, which caused an accumulation of this documentary genre in the institution and, consequently, difficulty in accessing it and making it available. According to this scenario, therefore, there was a need for studies and analyzes regarding the importance and the elaboration of guidelines for the selection and appraisal of photographs without archival principles aiming at their custody or disposal. Music is perceived and described very subjectively by every individual. Nowadays, people often get lost in their steadily growing, multi-placed, digital music collection. Existing music player and management applications get in trouble when dealing with poor metadata that is predominant in personal music collections. There are several music information services available that assist users by providing tools for precisely organising their music collection, or for presenting them new insights into their own music library and listening habits. However, it is still not the case that music consumers can seamlessly interact with all these auxiliary services directly from the place where they access their music individually. To profit from the manifold music and music-related knowledge that is or can be available via various information services, this information has to be gathered up, semantically federated, and integrated into a uniform knowledge base that can personalised represent this data in an appropriate visualisation to the users. This personalised semantic aggregation of music metadata from several sources is the gist of this thesis. The outlined solution particularly concentrates on users’ needs regarding music collection management which can strongly alternate between single human beings. The author’s proposal, the personal music knowledge base (PMKB), consists of a client-server architecture with uniform communication endpoints and an ontological knowledge representation model format that is able to represent the versatile information of its use cases. The PMKB concept is appropriate to cover the complete information flow life cycle, including the processes of user account initialisation, information service choice, individual information extraction, and proactive update notification. The PMKB implementation makes use of SemanticWeb technologies. Particularly the knowledge representation part of the PMKB vision is explained in this work. Several new Semantic Web ontologies are defined or existing ones are massively modified to meet the requirements of a personalised semantic federation of music and music-related data for managing personal music collections. The outcome is, amongst others, • a new vocabulary for describing the play back domain, • another one for representing information service categorisations and quality ratings, and • one that unites the beneficial parts of the existing advanced user modelling ontologies. The introduced vocabularies can be perfectly utilised in conjunction with the existing Music Ontology framework. Some RDFizers that also make use of the outlined ontologies in their mapping definitions, illustrate the fitness in practise of these specifications. A social evaluation method is applied to carry out an examination dealing with the reutilisation, application and feedback of the vocabularies that are explained in this work. This analysis shows that it is a good practise to properly publish Semantic Web ontologies with the help of some Linked Data principles and further basic SEO techniques to easily reach the searching audience, to avoid duplicates of such KR specifications, and, last but not least, to directly establish a \"shared understanding\". Due to their project-independence, the proposed vocabularies can be deployed in every knowledge representation model that needs their knowledge representation capacities. This thesis added its value to make the vision of a personal music knowledge base come true.

Informação e conhecimento têm sido citados por duas décadas como ferramentas de vantagem competitiva. Recentemente, discute-se a utilização destas na promoção da inovação. A premissa indica que a interação de indivíduos, o compartilhamento de informação e a criação do conhecimento são vitais para o sucesso das organizações que precisam aprender e inovar a todo o momento. O estudo tem como propósito apontar contribuições de um ambiente de aquisição, disseminação e utilização da informação para a subseqüente criação do conhecimento, verificando como esses dois processos ocorrem em empresas de base tecnológica. Optou-se pelo emprego do método comparativo de casos e pela pesquisa qualitativa, realizada em nove empresas de base tecnológica, as quais se encontravam incubadas ou que passaram recentemente pela fase de incubação no Parque Tecnológico da cidade de São Carlos. Entre os principais resultados, constatou-se que nas empresas graduadas a gestão da informação e seus procedimentos foi identificada como mais consciente e estruturada. Em contrapartida, percebeu-se que as empresas incubadas possuíam um ambiente com maiores condições de criação de conhecimento.
Information and knowledge have been cited for two decades as competitive advantage tools. Recently, the use of them is discussed in promotion of the innovation. The premise indicates that human interaction, information sharing and knowledge creation are vital for the success of organizations that need to learn and innovate all the time. This study has the intention to point contributions from an environment of acquisition, dissemination and the use of information to the subsequent knowledge creation, verifying how these two processes happen in technology-based companies. The comparative method of cases and qualitative research was used, conducted in nine technology-based companies, which were incubated or which passed recently by the incubating process in Technologic Park of São Carlos. Among the main results, it was found that in graduated companies the information management and its procedures was identified as more conscious and structured. However, it was also noticed that the incubated companies had an environment with better conditions for knowledge creation.

Nesta pesquisa, são propostas definições de modelos de gestão da informação para orientar a estratégia de ação comercial de uma pequena empresa de TI. Como atividade inicial, foi feita uma contextualização da empresa, um mapeamento dos processos internos e uma redefinição de requisitos informacionais, para então fazer a proposição de um conjunto de novos modelos, com interfaces de saída de dados e de consulta com base em filtros para auxílio no melhor uso das informações. O novo conjunto de modelos foi implementado na prática e utilizado nas atividades diárias da ação da equipe comercial (gerência e equipe de vendas). O trabalho então relata a experiência obtida e traz também uma avaliação da facilidade, compreensão e uso das novas ferramentas. Foi utilizado o método da pesquisa-ação, pois havia interesse e abertura da empresa no sentido de implementar na prática o conjunto de modelos que seriam propostos. Buscou-se assim uma maior contribuição, tanto para o mundo acadêmico quanto para o gerencial, através da aplicação prática, onde foi possível ver em uso o que estava sendo proposto, podendo observar e avaliar as conseqüências práticas para a empresa. A empresa reagiu positivamente aos modelos implementados, tanto em termos de aceitação quanto na avaliação de compreensão e utilidade. A equipe de vendas avaliou o uso dos modelos como sendo algo que agrega valor e agilidade nas tarefas, assim como a gerência e a direção da empresa viram agregação nas atividades de tomada de decisão e de planejamento estratégico. A empresa, de forma geral, percebeu melhores condições de dominar a informação que circula por seus processos, o que pode dinamizar e orientar suas ações comerciais.
This research proposes to define models for information management to guide the commercial action of a small IT company. The activities start with a diagnosis of the company’s context and internal processes and a redefinition of information requirements, to then propose a new set of models, with interfaces of data output and consult, based on filters that lead to a better use of the information. The new set of models was implemented and used during the daily commercial activities (sales team and management). The practical experience is then detailed based on the evaluation of ease, comprehension and use. Action research was chosen as method for this study because there was interest and availability of the company to put in practise the new set of models that was proposed. Through the practical experience, it was expected do bring a wider contribution to academic and management worlds. The company reacted positively do the models that were implemented, in terms of acceptation and in terms of comprehension, ease of use and utility. The sales team evaluated the use of the models as something that brought added value and agility to their activities, as well as the commercial management and company’s directors, in the decision making activities and strategic planning. The company considered that, after using the models, there were better conditions of dominating the information which circulates along the processes, and, therefore, it became more dynamic to orient the commercial action.

The highly competitive global market environment, the recent technological advances, the importance of information as well as the volume of this information are responsible for the rapid changes in business enterprises, especially in the small businesses. In such market environment, the technology-based small enterprises (TBSE s) have excelled in incorporating innovation, strategic management of resources, generation of qualified jobs and salaries higher than the national average. It is necessary, however, to guarantee the maintenance of such competitiveness keeping in view their specificity in being small businesses and the fact that they face obstacles in their growth and consolidation. The analysis and adequate use of information offers an alternative to improve the position of these enterprises in the market and to procure new technologies helping them in their decision-taking processes. With these facts as the background, this work took, as its main objective, to study the manner in which the TBSE s analyze and use information and to propose a method based in the processes of decision-taking and competitive intelligence. Given the importance of the technology-based small enterprises, two groups of nascent enterprises of the Pólo Tecnológico de São Carlos, incubated in the São Carlos High Technology Park Foundation (ParqTec): (i) 15 enterprises belonging to the CINET/SOFTNET incubator of which four were generated by the Grants Program for the Development of New Enterprises with an Agricultural and Livestock Technology Base (PROETA); and (ii) 10 enterprises implanted in the Design Inn incubator. Data were collected from primary and secondary sources which served as the basis for the theoretical constructions of this study. These data lead to the results on: (i) Identification of characteristics and specificities of the investigated enterprises; (ii) Identification of the access and the use of information by the incubated TBSE s; (iii) Integration of a simplified method for the analysis and use of information based on the processes of decision-taking and competitive intelligence considering their specificities and the Brazilian realities, in such a way as to potentialize their improvement in the local decision processes and intelligence enhancement leading also to their consolidation and growth. The managers of TBSE s reflected on the questions raised about the information management and showed themselves receptive to the ideas. 72% of the managers perceived themselves to be motivated to adopt the information management process and 64% considered the process as a viable support system for decision-taking. It is hoped that the dissemination of the results of this study shall contribute toward the advancement of the knowledge and attitude of these enterprises in search for a competitive edge in the market and consequently toward the regional socioeconomic development.
O ambiente globalizado e competitivo, os avanços tecnológicos, a relevância da informação, bem como a sobrecarga de informação, estão provocando rápidas mudanças nos negócios, principalmente nos negócios das pequenas empresas. Nesse ambiente as pequenas empresas de base tecnológica (PEBTs) têm se destacado pela incorporação da inovação, gestão estratégica de recursos, geração de empregos qualificados e salários superiores à média nacional. Entretanto, é preciso pensar em alternativas para manter essa situação, visto que elas também apresentam especificidades de pequenas empresas, e enfrentam obstáculos quanto ao seu crescimento e consolidação. A análise e uso adequado da informação é uma alternativa para o bom posicionamento dessas empresas no mercado e para a busca de novas tecnologias, corroborando para os seus processos de tomada de decisão. Portanto, este trabalho teve como objetivo principal, compreender a análise e o uso da informação nas PEBTs incubadas, e propor um método baseado nos processos de gestão da informação e inteligência competitiva. Considerando a importância das pequenas empresas de base tecnológica, fizeram parte da amostra deste trabalho, dois grupos de empresas nascentes do Pólo Tecnológico de São Carlos, incubadas na Fundação Parque de Alta Tecnologia de São Carlos (ParqTec): (i) quinze empresas pertencentes à incubadora CINET/SOFTNET, entre elas quatro empresas geradas a partir do Programa de Apoio ao Desenvolvimento de Novas Empresas de Base Tecnológica Agropecuária e à Transferência de Tecnologia (PROETA); e (ii) dez empresas instaladas na incubadora Design Inn. Dessa forma, foi realizada a coleta de dados de fontes primárias e secundárias, que embasaram as construções teóricas do trabalho, e os resultados a partir dessa coleta de dados foram: (i) identificação das características e especificidades das empresas investigadas; (ii) identificação do acesso e uso das informações pelas PEBTs incubadas; (iii) integração e sistematização de um método simplificado de análise e uso de informações, baseados na gestão da informação e inteligência competitiva, considerando suas especificidades e a realidade brasileira, de forma a potencializar melhorias nos seus processos de tomada de decisão e aumento da competitividade, contribuindo também para a sua consolidação e crescimento. Assim, os gestores das PEBTs refletiram questões acerca da gestão da informação e se mostraram receptivos, bem como 72% se vêem motivados a adotar o processo de gestão da informação para ganharem produtividade e 64% deles por considerarem o processo um suporte para a tomada de decisão. Systems that process big data (e.g., high-traffic networks and large-scale storage) prefer data structures and algorithms with small memory and fast processing speed. Efficient and fast algorithms play an essential role in system design, despite the improvement of hardware. This dissertation is organized around a novel algorithm called Othello Hashing. Othello Hashing supports ultra-fast and memory-efficient key-value lookup, and it fits the requirements of the core algorithms of many large-scale systems and big data applications. Using Othello hashing, combined with domain expertise in cloud, computer networks, big data, and bioinformatics, I developed the following applications that resolve several major challenges in the area. Concise: Forwarding Information Base. A Forwarding Information Base is a data structure used by the data plane of a forwarding device to determine the proper forwarding actions for packets. The polymorphic property of Othello Hashing the separation of its query and control functionalities, which is a perfect match to the programmable networks such as Software Defined Networks. Using Othello Hashing, we built a fast and scalable FIB named \textit{Concise}. Extensive evaluation results on three different platforms show that Concise outperforms other FIB designs. SDLB: Cloud Load Balancer. In a cloud network, the layer-4 load balancer servers is a device that acts as a reverse proxy and distributes network or application traffic across a number of servers. We built a software load balancer with Othello Hashing techniques named SDLB. SDLB is able to accomplish two functionalities of the SDLB using one Othello query: to find the designated server for packets of ongoing sessions and to distribute new or session-free packets. MetaOthello: Taxonomic Classification of Metagenomic Sequences. Metagenomic read classification is a critical step in the identification and quantification of microbial species sampled by high-throughput sequencing. Due to the growing popularity of metagenomic data in both basic science and clinical applications, as well as the increasing volume of data being generated, efficient and accurate algorithms are in high demand. We built a system to support efficient classification of taxonomic sequences using its k-mer signatures. SeqOthello: RNA-seq Sequence Search Engine. Advances in the study of functional genomics produced a vast supply of RNA-seq datasets. However, how to quickly query and extract information from sequencing resources remains a challenging problem and has been the bottleneck for the broader dissemination of sequencing efforts. The challenge resides in both the sheer volume of the data and its nature of unstructured representation. Using the Othello Hashing techniques, we built the SeqOthello sequence search engine. SeqOthello is a reference-free, alignment-free, and parameter-free sequence search system that supports arbitrary sequence query against large collections of RNA-seq experiments, which enables large-scale integrative studies using sequence-level data.

The theme of this diploma thesis is Knowledge Management that is becoming the focus of business companies. The theoretical part of the work is divided into several chapters that discuss the basic principles of Knowledge Management. The aim of this work is to describe the principle of knowledge management and create a basic draft of the knowledge base for the KPMG company. In the introductory part of the work, terms commonly used in knowledge management are explained. Further, the knowledge capital of the company, types of knowledge management and the related knowledge strategies are described. Second half of the theoretical part concerns the responsibilities, tasks and roles in knowledge management. The last chapters of the theoretical part describe the individual phases of knowledge management introduction in a company. The practical part of this thesis is focused at analysis of KPMG company knowledge management and design of a knowledge base that can substantially reduce the time necessary for completion of certain deliverables. The chapter concerns mainly with description of the system architecture of the knowledge base, that the author has designed for the KPMG company.

La deuxieme partie de cette these est consacree a la definition de SUBLIM, un systeme de gestion de bases lexicales multilingues qui permet de specifier l'architecture lexicale (organisation des dictionnaires) et l'architecture linguistique (organisation des informations linguistiques des unites des dictionnaires), sans imposer de contraintes ni sur les types de dictionnaires choisis, ni sur les structures linguistiques utilisees. The ever-increasing use of the internet by terrorist groups as a platform for the dissemination of radical, violent ideologies is well documented. The internet has, in this way, become a breeding ground for potential lone-wolf terrorists; that is, individuals who commit acts of terror inspired by the ideological rhetoric emitted by terrorist organizations. These individuals are characterized by their lack of formal affiliation with terror organizations, making them difficult to intercept with traditional intelligence techniques. The radicalization of individuals on the internet poses a considerable threat to law enforcement and national security officials. This new medium of radicalization, however, also presents new opportunities for the interdiction of lone wolf terrorism. This dissertation is an account of the development and evaluation of an information technology (IT) framework for detecting potentially radicalized individuals on social media sites and Web fora. Unifying Collective Action Framing Theory (CAFT) and a radicalization model of lone wolf terrorism, this dissertation analyzes a corpus of propaganda documents produced by several, radically different, terror organizations. This analysis provides the building blocks to define a knowledge model of terrorist ideological framing that is implemented as a Semantic Web Ontology. Using several techniques for ontology guided information extraction, the resultant ontology can be accurately processed from textual data sources. This dissertation subsequently defines several techniques that leverage the populated ontological representation for automatically identifying individuals who are potentially radicalized to one or more terrorist ideologies based on their postings on social media and other Web fora. The dissertation also discusses how the ontology can be queried using intuitive structured query languages to infer triggering events in the news. The prototype system is evaluated in the context of classification and is shown to provide state of the art results. The main outputs of this research are (1) an ontological model of terrorist ideologies (2) an information extraction framework capable of identifying and extracting terrorist ideologies from text, (3) a classification methodology for classifying Web content as resonating the ideology of one or more terrorist groups and (4) a methodology for rapidly identifying news content of relevance to one or more terrorist groups.

Diante da crescente importância que as empresas de base tecnológica assumem na geração de riqueza e promoção do desenvolvimento econômico sustentável, destaca-se o papel das incubadoras de empresas na promoção da inovação. Imersas em ambientes tradicionalmente geradores de conhecimento, como institutos de pesquisa e universidades, propiciam não só recursos materiais como também os recursos humanos necessários à transformação de idéias em produtos em escala empresarial. No entanto, faz-se necessário adotar um conjunto de ações para dinamizar as oportunidades de sucesso de novos empreendimentos. O modelo de incentivo à inovação e ao desenvolvimento de negócios posto em prática pelas incubadoras de empresas de base tecnológica permite ao empreendedor a obtenção de competências determinísticas de êxito que resultem em aumento do ciclo de vida da empresa. As incubadoras fornecem a estrutura necessária para o desenvolvimento da idéia até a consolidação do negócio. Utilizando como parâmetro de aferição a Pesquisa Global com empresas de sucesso, realizamos estudo com os empreendedores residentes no Centro Incubador de Empresas Tecnológicas. Este estudo visa identificar o potencial uso de ferramentas de gestão que permitam influenciar os fatores críticos de sucesso do empreendedorismo de base tecnológica. A Pesquisa Global, referência deste estudo, é realizada há mais de catorze anos e conta com um banco de dados de 8.504 empresas que sobreviveram ao teste do tempo. Em 2007, a pesquisa foca em 25 ferramentas e a amostra foi de 1221 gestores em todo o mundo, dos quais 101 no Brasil, na busca de identificar quais ferramentas de gestão eles utilizam e quais resultados elas têm gerado. Para fazer parte da Pesquisa Global, as ferramentas precisam ser consideradas importantes pelos gestores, ter aplicação específica e resultados mensuráveis. Neste trabalho, baseado na hierarquia entre inovação e valor, ao monitorar quais ferramentas os gestores das empresas incubadas de base tecnológica utilizam, em quais circunstâncias e com que intensidade e compará-las com as utilizadas pelas empresas da pesquisa global, busca-se identificar os fatores críticos de sucesso para o crescimento sustentável.
Since technology companies have become a significant source of income generation and sustainable economic development, business incubation centers have been standing out due to the support they offer to start-up innovation companies. As they are embedded in research institutes and universities, not only do these business incubation units take care of the material aspects needed to establish innovation companies, but they also provide the necessary human resources to turn ideas into products on a business scale. However, further action is required to augment the chances of success for those fledgling businesses. The business incentive model provided by technology-based incubation units with regard to fostering innovation and business development offer start-up business owners the necessary tools to succeed in their venture, thus guaranteeing that their companies enjoy a longer life cycle. Business incubation centers can provide the necessary structure from the development of an idea up to the consolidation of a business. For this study, we have considered successful new companies that are part of the Technology Business Incubation Center. Our goal was to identify potential management tools that could be critical in fostering the growth of such technology-based businesses. The Global Research used as reference for this study has been conducted for over 14 years, and counts on a database with over 8,504 companies that have survived the test of time. The research focused on 25 management tools in 2007. The sample consisted of 1,221 managers from all over the world 101 of them located in Brazil and the aim was to identify the management tools employed, and the results obtained from such tools. In order to be included in the global research, management tools have to be considered important by their users; moreover, their use has to be specific, and their results have to be measurable. In this study, based on hierarchy and value, we have monitored which management tools were employed by technology-based companies part of incubation units, under what circumstances and how frequently, in order to compare such tools with the ones used by companies included in the global research, thus identifying critical elements of success for their sustainable growth.

Aujourd'hui, la plupart des internautes ont leurs données dispersées dans plusieurs appareils, applications et services. La gestion et le contrôle de ses données sont de plus en plus difficiles. Dans cette thèse, nous adoptons le point de vue selon lequel l'utilisateur devrait se voir donner les moyens de récupérer et d'intégrer ses données, sous son contrôle total. À ce titre, nous avons conçu un système logiciel qui intègre et enrichit les données d'un utilisateur à partir de plusieurs sources hétérogènes de données personnelles dans une base de connaissances RDF. Le logiciel est libre, et son architecture innovante facilite l'intégration de nouvelles sources de données et le développement de nouveaux modules pour inférer de nouvelles connaissances. Nous montrons tout d'abord comment l'activité de l'utilisateur peut être déduite des données des capteurs de son téléphone intelligent. Nous présentons un algorithme pour retrouver les points de séjour d'un utilisateur à partir de son historique de localisation. À l'aide de ces données et de données provenant d'autres capteurs de son téléphone, d'informations géographiques provenant d'OpenStreetMap, et des horaires de transports en commun, nous présentons un algorithme de reconnaissance du mode de transport capable de retrouver les différents modes et lignes empruntés par un utilisateur lors de ses déplacements. L'algorithme reconnaît l'itinéraire pris par l'utilisateur en retrouvant la séquence la plus probable dans un champ aléatoire conditionnel dont les probabilités se basent sur la sortie d'un réseau de neurones artificiels. Nous montrons également comment le système peut intégrer les données du courrier électronique, des calendriers, des carnets d'adresses, des réseaux sociaux et de l'historique de localisation de l'utilisateur dans un ensemble cohérent. Pour ce faire, le système utilise un algorithme de résolution d'entité pour retrouver l'ensemble des différents comptes utilisés par chaque contact de l'utilisateur, et effectue un alignement spatio-temporel pour relier chaque point de séjour à l'événement auquel il correspond dans le calendrier de l'utilisateur. Enfin, nous montrons qu'un tel système peut également être employé pour faire de la synchronisation multi-système/multi-appareil et pour pousser de nouvelles connaissances vers les sources. Typical Internet users today have their data scattered over several devices, applications, and services. Managing and controlling one's data is increasingly difficult. In this thesis, we adopt the viewpoint that the user should be given the means to gather and integrate her data, under her full control. In that direction, we designed a system that integrates and enriches the data of a user from multiple heterogeneous sources of personal information into an RDF knowledge base. The system is open-source and implements a novel, extensible framework that facilitates the integration of new data sources and the development of new modules for deriving knowledge. We first show how user activity can be inferred from smartphone sensor data. We introduce a time-based clustering algorithm to extract stay points from location history data. Using data from additional mobile phone sensors, geographic information from OpenStreetMap, and public transportation schedules, we introduce a transportation mode recognition algorithm to derive the different modes and routes taken by the user when traveling. The algorithm derives the itinerary followed by the user by finding the most likely sequence in a linear-chain conditional random field whose feature functions are based on the output of a neural network. We also show how the system can integrate information from the user's email messages, calendars, address books, social network services, and location history into a coherent whole. To do so, it uses entity resolution to find the set of avatars used by each real-world contact and performs spatiotemporal alignment to connect each stay point with the event it corresponds to in the user's calendar. Finally, we show that such a system can also be used for multi-device and multi-system synchronization and allow knowledge to be pushed to the sources. We present extensive experiments

As unidades de conservação são consideradas instrumentos eficazes na conservação in situ da biodiversidade. No Brasil, as unidades de conservação enfrentam sérios problemas para a sua implementação, com destaque a falta de recursos financeiros e humanos, e a inexistência de planos de manejo. Neste sentido, o presente trabalho apresenta uma breve análise sobre a situação do sistema nacional de unidades de conservação do Brasil. Também é apresentada uma proposta de plano de manejo alternativo para a Floresta Nacional de Ipanema, unidade de conservação federal de uso sustentável. Essa proposta é baseada na construção de uma base cartográfica digital, e no emprego de um Sistema de Informações Geográficas - SIG. São definidas no trabalho, as zonas de manejo e os programas e ações de manejo para a Floresta Nacional de Ipanema. Por fim, recomenda-se o uso de base cartográfica digital baseada em sistemas de informações geográficas, como ferramenta indispensável no gerenciamento de unidades de conservação.
The conservation units are considered efficient instruments in the in situ conservation of biodiversity. In Brazil, the conservation units face serious problems for its implementation, with prominence the lack of financial and human resources, and the inexistence of management plans. In this direction, the work presents one brief analysis on the situation of the national system of conservation units of Brazil. Also it is presented a proposal immediate of alternative management plan for the Ipanema National Forest, federal unit of conservation of sustainable use. This proposal is based on the construction of a digital cartographic base, and on the use of Geographic Information Systems - GIS. They are defined in the work, the zones of management and the programs and action of management for the Ipanema National Forest. Finally, the use of based cartographic base digital in geographic information systems sends regards, as indispensable tool in the management of conservation units.

In the last 11 years, the Brazilian institutions of higher education passed through several transformations due to the higher education opening politics made by the Federal Government. This opening made a great number of students come back to the classrooms, which forced the IES, in many cases, to review its positions, information and communication processes, and to search new indicative of management and evaluation. The instauration by the Brazilian Government of the SINAES - National System of Evaluation of Higher Education in April 14 of 2004 imposed ten evaluatives dimensions that started to be followed by the higher education institutions. In this direction, this work is a case study developed in the Uni?o Social Camiliana and aim to evaluate, through the parameters proposed by the SINAES, how this organization is structured considering the communication and information processes. Improvements are also considered based in the concepts of Information Management and Competitive Intelligence. This evaluation was made through two instruments: applied questionnaires and reports collected in the institution. As a result of this process, we perceive that the Information Management and Competitive Intelligence can assist the IES to deal with varied information and communication contents, contributing for the improvement of the management processes and leading to match the SINAES requirements. This work proposes improvements in the communication and information processes in the Uni?o Social Camiliana, using of the concepts of Information Management and Competitive Intelligence.

O progresso de projetos anteriores salientou a necessidade de tratar o problema dos softwares para detecção, a partir de bases de dados de publicações científicas, de tendências emergentes de pesquisa e desenvolvimento. Evidenciou-se a carência de aplicações computacionais eficientes dedicadas a este propósito, que são artigos de grande utilidade para um melhor planejamento de programas de pesquisa e desenvolvimento em instituições. Foi realizada, então, uma revisão dos softwares atualmente disponíveis, para poder-se delinear claramente a oportunidade de desenvolver novas ferramentas. Como resultado, implementou-se um aplicativo chamado Citesnake, projetado especialmente para auxiliar a detecção e o estudo de tendências emergentes a partir da análise de redes de vários tipos, extraídas das bases de dados científicas. Através desta ferramenta computacional robusta e eficaz, foram conduzidas análises de frentes emergentes de pesquisa e desenvolvimento na área de Sistemas Geradores de Energia Nuclear de Geração IV, de forma que se pudesse evidenciar, dentre os tipos de reatores selecionados como os mais promissores pelo GIF - Generation IV International Forum, aqueles que mais se desenvolveram nos últimos dez anos e que se apresentam, atualmente, como os mais capazes de cumprir as promessas realizadas sobre os seus conceitos inovadores.

L'archivage de données industrielles est un problème complexe : il s'agit de stocker un grand nombre de données sur plusieurs décennies, tout en supportant la charge des insertions temps réel et des requêtes d'extraction et d'analyse. Pour ce type d'application, des produits " de niche " se sont spécialisés pour ce segment du marché : les progiciels d'historisation. Il s'agit de solutions propriétaires avec des coûts de licence de l'ordre de plusieurs dizaines de milliers d'euros, et dont le fonctionnement interne n'est pas dévoilé. Nous avons donc dans un premier temps mis en évidence les spécificités de ces progiciels d'historisation, tant au niveau des fonctionnalités que des performances. Néanmoins, l'archivage de données industrielles peut s'appliquer à des contexte très différents. L'IGCBox par exemple est un mini PC industriel utilisant MySQL pour l'archivage à court terme des données de production des centrales hydrauliques d'EDF. Ce matériel présente quelques spécificités, la principale étant son système de mémoire non volatile basé uniquement sur la technologie flash, pour sa fiabilité importante en milieu industriel et sa faible consommation d'énergie. Les SGBD possèdent pour des raisons historiques de nombreuses optimisations spécifiques aux disques durs, et le manque d'optimisation adaptée aux mémoires flash peut dégrader significativement les performances. Le choix de ce type de mémoire a donc eu des répercussions notables sur les performances pour l'insertion, avec une dégradation importante par rapport aux disques durs. Nous avons donc proposé Chronos, un SGBD dédié à l'historisation de données sur mémoires flash. Pour cela, nous avons en particulier identifié un algorithme d'écriture " quasi-séquentiel " efficace pour accéder à la mémoire, ainsi que des mécanismes de bufferisation et de mise à jour d'index optimisés pour les charges typiques de l'historisation. Les résultats expérimentaux montrent un gain significatif pour les insertions par rapport à des solutions équivalentes, d'un facteur 20 à 54. Chronos est donc une solution compétitive lorsque les insertions correspondent à une proportion importante de la charge soumise au SGBD. En particulier pour les charges typiques des IGCBox, Chronos se distingue en proposant des performances globales améliorées d'un facteur 4 à 18 par rapport aux autres solutions.

The development of this research was intermediate steps : 1 ) identification and characterization of CBHs , especially regarding potentially problematic conditions, 2 ) to propose a set of IS to promote the monitoring of the conditions identified in the previous step , 3) the systematization Database (BD) of IS calculated based on official sources for all CBHs of the State of Sao Paulo , 4) structuring the Tool to Support Water Resources Management (FAGRH) , systematized into spreadsheets , 5) simulation application and critical analysis of FAGRH and 6) the consolidation of FAGRH. The consolidated tool proposes the selection of a CBH of the State of Sao Paulo and prioritization of potentially problematic conditions that should be covered in the proposals of this CBH . In the next step FAGRH users are advised to define what are the stages of action to be developed to address each of the priority conditions. For each step, users assign the percentage to be executed and describes one or more actions to achieve this percentage . Also in this step , the user is prompted some information about the action to be performed , such as unit cost , the amount to be performed and the correlation between the action and the proposed IS. In sequence the user is instructed to set the stage of development of each action, assigning a goal to be achieved or the financial investment to be made. With this information the user must then detail the development of proposed actions to compose an Action Plan. As final results FAGRH presents a comparison between the calculated values of IS of the BD and considering the improvements obtained with the proposed actions. The FAGRH also allows checking the percentage of budget involvement for the CBH considering FEHIDRO and FEHIDRO / Levy resources and necessary for the accomplishment of the proposed actions investments. It is noteworthy that the tool has been developed with use of spreadsheets organized in the Microsoft Office Excel file, that is a widely used software. It is concluded that the development of FAGRH collaborates with the organization and systematization of information and can be used to guide the decision making process and to implement tools such as Basin Plans and Information Systems , as well as for the preparation of reports situation.
O modelo de gestão de recursos hídricos descentralizado por Bacias Hidrográficas preconiza uma ampla participação no processo de tomada de decisões, incluindo membros técnicos e não técnicos no mesmo. A presente pesquisa teve por objetivo desenvolver uma ferramenta para subsidiar esse processo de tomada de decisões em Comitês de Bacia Hidrográfica (CBHs), com base em indicadores de sustentabilidade (IS). O desenvolvimento desta pesquisa teve como etapas intermediarias: 1) a identificação e caracterização dos CBHs, principalmente quanto as condições potencialmente problemáticas; 2) a proposição de um conjunto de IS capazes de promover o monitoramento das condições identificadas na etapa anterior; 3) a sistematização de Banco de Dados (BD) dos IS calculados com base em fontes oficiais para todos os CBHs do Estado de São Paulo; 4) a estruturação da Ferramenta de Apoio a Gestão de Recursos Hídricos (FAGRH), sistematizada em planilhas eletrônicas; 5) a simulação da aplicação e analise critica da FAGRH; e 6) a consolidação da FAGRH. A ferramenta consolidada propõe a seleção de um dos CBH do Estado de São Paulo e a priorização das condições potencialmente problemáticas que devem ser contempladas nas propostas deste CBH. Na próxima etapa os usuários da FAGRH são orientados a definir quais são as fases de atuação a serem desenvolvidas para tratar cada uma das condições priorizadas. Para cada uma das fases o usuário atribui o percentual a ser executado e descreve uma ou mais ações para o cumprimento deste percentual. Ainda nesta etapa, e solicitado ao usuário algumas informações sobre a ação a ser efetuada, tais como: custo unitário, a quantidade a ser executada e a correlação entre a ação e o IS proposto. Na sequencia o usuário e orientado a estabelecer o cenário de desenvolvimento de cada ação, atribuindo uma meta a ser atingida ou o investimento financeiro a ser realizado. Com estas informações o usuário deve então detalhar o desenvolvimento das ações propostas para composição de um Plano de Ações. Como resultados finais a FAGRH apresenta um comparativo entre os valores calculados dos IS do BD e considerando as melhorias obtidas com as ações propostas. A FAGRH permite também a verificação do percentual de comprometimento do orçamento previsto para o CBH, considerando recursos FEHIDRO e FEHIDRO/Cobrança e os investimentos necessários para a efetivação das ações propostas. Destaca-se que, a ferramenta foi desenvolvida com uso de planilhas eletrônicas organizadas em arquivo do Microsoft Office Excel, software amplamente utilizando. Conclui-se que, o desenvolvimento da FAGRH colabora com a organização e sistematização de informações, podendo ser utilizada para orientar o processo de tomada de decisão e para implementar instrumentos como Planos de Bacia e Sistemas de Informação, bem como para a elaboração de Relatórios de Situação.

L'idée d'établir des relations entre des objets et de les représenter dans la base de connaissances d'un système informatique est le propre de toute approche en Intelligence Artificielle. Cependant, la plupart des formalismes de représentation de connaissances n'exploitent pas toute la richesse de la sémantique de ces relations, ni le comportement qui leur est associé. En recherche d'informations, les traitements de ces relations ne sont guère mieux élaborés et l'impact de leur prise en compte lors de la phase de correspondance n'a jamais été établi, même s'il reste vrai que de nombreuses approches tiennent compte de leur présence dans le document et tentent ainsi de les représenter lors du processus d'indexation. Pourtant la recherche de documents structurés ou complexes exige plus que jamais, outre un langage d'indexation robuste et expressif, la prise en charge de la sémantique des relations ainsi que leurs propriétés. À travers une étude des nouvelles exigences auxquelles la recherche d'informations d'aujourd'hui doit répondre, nous proposons un modèle d'indexation relationnel pour les documents. L'approche consiste à considérer qu'un terme d'indexation est fondé sur des concepts complexes où les connecteurs sémantiques sont vus comme des opérateurs, ou des relations permettant de construire des expressions nouvelles représentant des concepts nouveaux ou des situations nouvelles. Le modèle proposé ne se contente pas de représenter les relations, mais permet aussi d'offrir un cadre général précisant les principes généraux de manipulation de ces relations et la prise en compte de leurs propriétés dans un processus de recherche fondé sur une approche logique. Le modèle proposé comporte deux composantes: le langage de représentation des informations, permettant une approche d'indexation relationnelle, et les règles de dérivation qui, reprenant ce langage, permettent de diriger le processus de correspondance. Nous utilisons la théorie des situations comme langage de représentation et un système de dérivation de pertinence, reposant sur une axiomatisation de la notion de correspondance entre les documents et la requête pour la prise en compte des relations. Une caractéristique intéressante de ce modèle est qu'il conduit à étendre certains formalismes de représentation de connaissances par des notions utiles en recherche d'informations. Les limitations de la famille des logiques terminologiques, utilisée par ailleurs comme base formelle de l'approche d'indexation relationnelle proposée, peuvent ainsi être surmontées. Cependant, la complexité des traitements associés à cette famille de logiques empêche de les utiliser comme un modèle opérationnel. Nous proposons alors le formalisme des graphes conceptuels comme un bon compromis entre la complexité des démonstrateurs de théorèmes et la simplicité des approches algébriques. Ce formalisme est alors vu, à travers une interprétation logique adéquate, comme une implantation d'une logique terminologique étendue et du modèle d'indexation. Notre approche a été implantée sur une plate-forme de gestion de graphes conceptuels, réalisée sur le système de gestion de base de données à objets O2. Le prototype RELIEF résultant de notre expérimentation a été testé sur une collection d'images et a démontré l'applicabilité et le bien-fondé de notre approche.

In the presented dissertation, there is, based on a given topic “Internet tools for lifelong learning in the IT sector”, expressed an appropriate coverage of created partial research tasks with an active solution of them at the Faculty of Business and Management, Brno University of Technology for branch Company Management and Economics, and that in accordance with the defined areas of research and publication activities. For systemic approach to the whole dissertation, it was defined area of theoretical perspectives and expressed methodology for addressing systemic models of education on Internet means and for that practical research work was chosen adaptable (“learning”) Company 1 as a reference (for solving individual practical research tasks) and a methodology of modern approach to modelling was created (“for modern management and information communication between systems”) and also modelling of a required adaptable (“directly also improving with modelling”) Internet (and intranet) environment of companies and its use in the process of lifelong learning of knowledge workers (“teachers”) of Company 1 and possible additional (“knowledge workers and users”) Company 2, 3, ..., m i.e. “businesses as other customers” and all that to actively create an adaptable and new space with the possible use of an evolutionary (“new and also modern and intelligent and self-learning”) means of information and communication technologies (ICT) both from the world and from the Czech Republic and especially new (and evolutionary perspective) Internet tools and resources for business management, lifelong learning in IT sector and necessary monitoring of demanded company's competitiveness operating in dynamically developing IT. By systemically solved modelling on computers, there is expressed an issue of appropriately selected internet tools in a competitive environment of companies, and also there is addressed by computer modelling a new approach to modelling leading to an anticipated modernization of modern electronic lifelong learning forms built on tools and resources of the Internet. The work also includes a creation of models on PCs allowing comparison of expected changes in competitiveness of companies reacting to the benefits of created methodology and that leads to an anticipated improvement in the quality of management and economics of companies in terms of relative improvement of their competitiveness. Solving of these modern issues is conducted based on an appropriate analysis of selected enterprises, corresponding to the solved topic and solved objectives of the work and also obtained information from publications in world information sources on the Internet and from virtual libraries of the world, publishing, seminars, proceedings and conferences. The results of system analytical approach to solving tasks and activities of the research work have been regularly published in articles of professional and peer-reviewed journals and also in conference contributions. In these research results, there is systematically expressed a new essence of solving interface of social and IT technical system with selected resources of internet tools for lifelong learning companies working in IT sector as a possible contribution into modern creation of self-learning organizations.

Abstract:
Du fait qu'il constitue un passage obligé du flux d'information, un serveur de données joue un rôle central dans l'architecture d'un système d'information (SI). Il doit en conséquence implanter des mécanismes de gestion de ressources efficaces et des politiques de gestion adaptées aux caractéristiques comportementales du SI.
Il n'est malheureusement pas possible d'offrir un serveur de données universel capable de répondre aux exigences de tous les SI. Ceux-ci diffèrent en effet significativement par le type des informations qu'ils traitent, la nature des traitements effectués, les propriétés de traitement qu'ils garantissent, les caractéristiques du matériel sous-jacent, etc. De ce fait, chaque système d'information intègre son ou ses propres serveurs de données implantant des politiques de gestion figées.
Les inconvénients d'une telle approche sont loin d'être négligeables. Tout d'abord, la ré-implantation de mécanismes élémentaires de gestion de ressources augmente le coût de conception. Ensuite, la rigidité comportementale réduit considérablement la réactivité à l'évolution tant en qualité qu'en quantité des informations, traitements et ressources matérielles. Enfin, l'opacité des tels systèmes rend difficile leur coexistence sur une même plate-forme.
Cette thèse montre qu'il n'existe pas de politique de gestion de la mémoire idéale. Plutôt que d'essayer d'offrir un serveur idéal, elle tente de définir une infrastructure permettant de concevoir des serveurs de données adaptés et évolutifs. Elle adresse plus particulièrement le problème de la gestion de la mémoire physique et se place dans le contexte des grappes de machines. Elle propose le support mémoire adaptable ADAMS basé sur un modèle de gestion hiérarchique et un modèle de communication par événements. Ce support facilite l'intégration de différents types de politiques tout en séparant bien leurs rôles respectifs sans faire d'hypothèse sur leur inter-dépendances.
Une intégration d'ADAMS à la mémoire virtuelle répartie permanente et adaptable du système Arias est ensuite exposée. ADAMS étend les caractéristiques de ce système afin de prendre en compte les besoins particulier de gestion des serveurs de données tout en réduisant le grain d'adaptabilité. Nous illustrons à travers un exemple comment le support résultant permet d'implanter un serveur de données dont les politiques de gestion peuvent être adaptées dynamiquement.

Dans de nombreux problèmes de classification, les données sont intrinsèquement incertaines. Les données d’apprentissage disponibles peuvent être imprécises, incomplètes, ou même peu fiables. En outre, des connaissances spécialisées partielles qui caractérisent le problème de classification peuvent également être disponibles. Ces différents types d’incertitude posent de grands défis pour la conception de classifieurs. La théorie des fonctions de croyance fournit un cadre rigoureux et élégant pour la représentation et la combinaison d’une grande variété d’informations incertaines. Dans cette thèse, nous utilisons cette théorie pour résoudre les problèmes de classification des données incertaines sur la base de deux approches courantes, à savoir, la méthode des k plus proches voisins (kNN) et la méthode à base de règles.Pour la méthode kNN, une préoccupation est que les données d’apprentissage imprécises dans les régions où les classes de chevauchent peuvent affecter ses performances de manière importante. Une méthode d’édition a été développée dans le cadre de la théorie des fonctions de croyance pour modéliser l’information imprécise apportée par les échantillons dans les régions qui se chevauchent. Une autre considération est que, parfois, seul un ensemble de données d’apprentissage incomplet est disponible, auquel cas les performances de la méthode kNN se dégradent considérablement. Motivé par ce problème, nous avons développé une méthode de fusion efficace pour combiner un ensemble de classifieurs kNN couplés utilisant des métriques couplées apprises localement. Pour la méthode à base de règles, afin d’améliorer sa performance dans les applications complexes, nous étendons la méthode traditionnelle dans le cadre des fonctions de croyance. Nous développons un système de classification fondé sur des règles de croyance pour traiter des informations incertains dans les problèmes de classification complexes. En outre, dans certaines applications, en plus de données d’apprentissage, des connaissances expertes peuvent également être disponibles. Nous avons donc développé un système de classification hybride fondé sur des règles de croyance permettant d’utiliser ces deux types d’information pour la classification
In many classification problems, data are inherently uncertain. The available training data might be imprecise, incomplete, even unreliable. Besides, partial expert knowledge characterizing the classification problem may also be available. These different types of uncertainty bring great challenges to classifier design. The theory of belief functions provides a well-founded and elegant framework to represent and combine a large variety of uncertain information. In this thesis, we use this theory to address the uncertain data classification problems based on two popular approaches, i.e., the k-nearest neighbor rule (kNN) andrule-based classification systems. For the kNN rule, one concern is that the imprecise training data in class over lapping regions may greatly affect its performance. An evidential editing version of the kNNrule was developed based on the theory of belief functions in order to well model the imprecise information for those samples in over lapping regions. Another consideration is that, sometimes, only an incomplete training data set is available, in which case the ideal behaviors of the kNN rule degrade dramatically. Motivated by this problem, we designedan evidential fusion scheme for combining a group of pairwise kNN classifiers developed based on locally learned pairwise distance metrics.For rule-based classification systems, in order to improving their performance in complex applications, we extended the traditional fuzzy rule-based classification system in the framework of belief functions and develop a belief rule-based classification system to address uncertain information in complex classification problems. Further, considering that in some applications, apart from training data collected by sensors, partial expert knowledge can also be available, a hybrid belief rule-based classification system was developed to make use of these two types of information jointly for classification

Le cadre théorique de la contingence structurelle associe généralement « contexte, structure et performance » (Burns et Stalker, 1961; Woodward, 1965; Lawrence et Lorsch, 1967 ;Mintzberg, 1979).Le besoin de tester cette théorie dans l’environnement d’un pays sous développé (PSD) nous a conduit, dans cette recherche, à l’utilisation d’un cadre réduit basé uniquement sur des liens entre la technologie (remplacée par TI) et la structure (Galbraith, 1972 ;Lacrampe, 1974 ;Leifer, 1988).

Notre cadre théorique s’appuie sur les approches managériales, économiques et organisationnelles des TI et de l’EDI (Leavitt, 1968 ;Scott Morton, 1991). Il utilise la théorie contingente de la gestion comptable (Otley, 1980; Chapman, 1997) et des systèmes d’information comptable AIS (Sutton, 1995; Maudlin et Ruchala, 1999; Baldwin et alii, 2000; Dunk, 2001) comme domaine d’opérationnalisation (système d’information fonctionnel).

Les systèmes de recommandation (RS) et le pair-à-pair (P2) sont complémen-taires pour faciliter le partage de données à grande échelle: RS pour filtrer et person-naliser les requêtes des utilisateurs, et P2P pour construire des systèmes de partage de données décentralisés à grande échelle. Cependant, il reste beaucoup de difficultés pour construire des RS efficaces dans une infrastructure P2P. Dans cette thèse, nous considérons des communautés en ligne à grande échelle, où les utilisateurs notent les contenus qu'ils explorent et gardent dans leur espace de travail local les contenus de qualité pour leurs sujets d'intérêt. Notre objectif est de construire un P2P-RS efficace pour ce contexte. Nous exploitons les sujets d'intérêt des utilisateurs (extraits automatiquement des contenus et de leurs notes) et les don-nées sociales (amitié et confiance) afin de construire et maintenir un overlay P2P so-cial. La thèse traite de plusieurs problèmes. D'abord, nous nous concentrons sur la conception d'un P2P-RS qui passe à l'échelle, appelé P2Prec, en combinant les ap-proches de recommandation par filtrage collaboratif et par filtrage basé sur le contenu. Nous proposons alors de construire et maintenir un overlay P2P dynamique grâce à des protocoles de gossip. Nos résultats d'expérimentation montrent que P2Prec per-met d'obtenir un bon rappel avec une charge de requêtes et un trafic réseau accep-tables. Ensuite, nous considérons une infrastructure plus complexe afin de construire et maintenir un overlay P2P social, appelé F2Frec, qui exploite les relations sociales entre utilisateurs. Dans cette infrastructure, nous combinons les aspects filtrage par contenu et filtrage basé social, pour obtenir un P2P-RS qui fournit des résultats de qualité et fiables. A l'aide d'une évaluation de performances extensive, nous mon-trons que F2Frec améliore bien le rappel, ainsi que la confiance dans les résultats avec une surcharge acceptable. Enfin, nous décrivons notre prototype de P2P-RS que nous avons implémenté pour valider notre proposition basée sur P2Prec et F2Frec.

Internet has become more and more important in the world recent years. Every country has paid much attention on it and has tried to push projects like digital earth, digital government and cyberspace around this topic. The requirement for electronic commerce is steadily increasing. Seeing more and more countries are developing in-formation security authentication systems, this research, bases on the information secu-rity standard (BS 7799) constituted by the UK government in 1995, will concentrate on the access control and computer network areas . In this research, we will explore problems of the network and the database access by examples, and will propose a security management model and the accountability de-sign of users'' access to the systems. In addition to preventing hackers'' invasions from outside to the system, it can also prevent inside traitors attacks by auditing the account-ability, or shows evidences for legal actions afterward.
