Abstract:
Streptococcus pneumoniae resides in the oxygen-rich environment of the upper respiratory tract, and therefore the ability to survive in the presence of oxygen is an important aspect of its in vivo survival. To investigate how S. pneumoniae adapts to oxygen, we determined the global gene expression profile of the micro-organism in aerobiosis and anaerobiosis. It was found that exposure to aerobiosis elevated the expression of 54 genes, while the expression of 15 genes was downregulated. Notably there were significant changes in putative genome plasticity and hypothetical genes. In addition, inc

Abstract:
A negative correlation was observed between the aggressiveness of several Erwinia chrysanthemi strains on potato tuber and their osmotic tolerance. The disruption of the ousA gene encoding the major osmoprotectant uptake system highly enhanced bacterial virulence on potato tubers. The ousA disruption also increased the maceration efficiency on potato tubers under anaerobic conditions. In the absence of oxygen, pectate lyase (Pel) production was significantly higher in the tissue macerated with the ousA- strain than with the wild type. Oxygen content is significantly different between infected

Abstract:
Abstract Intrinsic and extrinsic factors determine the milk production of a dairy herd, which is affected by the reproductive efficiency of dairy farms. Infectious, nutritional, and management causes can negatively affect this efficiency. After parturition, dairy cows are sensible to clinical diseases since the physical barriers of the cervix, vagina, and vulva are compromised, allowing environmental bacteria to ascend, altering the vaginal microbiota. It is possible that the alteration of the microorganisms of the vaginal microbiota alters the response of circulating hormones related to a new
