Abstract:
B3 is the most common subtype of blood group B in the Taiwanese population, and most of the B3 individuals in the Taiwanese population have the IVS3 + 5 G > A (rs55852701) gene variation. Additionally, a typical mixed field agglutination is observed when the B3 subtype is tested with anti-B antibody or anti-AB antibody. The molecular biology of the gene variation in the B3 subtype has been identified, however, the mechanism of the mixed field agglutination caused by the type B3 blood samples is still unclear. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to understand the reason for the mixed fi

Vertical-Axis Wind Turbines (VAWTs) are known as the most suitable wind turbine for small-scale electrical generation. There are many types of VAWTs and each of it has different performances and efficiency. In this work, three types of VAWT systems (Savo-B2, Savo-B4 and Giro-B3) were designed, constructed and tested to investigate the amount of electrical power that could be generated under several constant wind speeds. The blade rotors were designed and built using 2 mm thickness of aluminum plate. The tip speed ratios, power coefficients, blade rotations for each blade rotor and the simplici

Purpose This is a 3D numerical study of convective heat transfer through a micro concentric annulus governing non-uniform heat flux boundary conditions employing water-Al2O3 nanofluid. The nanofluid is modeled using two-phase mixture model, as it has a good agreement to experimental results. Design/methodology/approach Half of the inner pipe surface area of the annulus section of a double pipe heat exchanger is exposed to a constant heat flux which two models are considered to divide the exposing surface area to smaller ones considering the fact that in all cases half of the inner pipe surface

Abstract Bonded concrete overlays (BCO) on bridge decks are beneficial solutions due to their superior properties as compared to the typical asphalt pavement. A significant number of overlays suffer however, from occurrence of cracks and delamination due to poor bond, and restrained shrinkage and thermal dilation. Over the past years different appraisals for estimation of the restrained deformations have been developed, from micro-scale models, based on poromechanics, to empirical equations as given in B3 or B4 models suggested by Bažant. Abstract. Modelling of glacier and ice sheet micro-topography is meaningful for the understanding of interactions between local ice mass and climate. Here, we used an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) platform composed of a DJI Phantom 4 and a D-RTK mobile station to model the surface micro-topography around Zhongshan Station of China, East Antarctica. Two UAV survey types (vertical and oblique aerial photogrammetry) were performed during the China's 35th Antarctic expedition (CHINARE) in 2018–2019. Six surveys were obtained by the SfM-MVS technology. Then, we extracted the features of glacier sur

NAD disruption can occur not only from poor diet but from increased consumption from genotoxic, infectious and metabolic stresses.
