Thrombotic microangiopathy can manifest in a diverse range of diseases and is characterized by thrombocytopenia, microangiopathic hemolytic anemia, and organ injury, including AKI. It can be associated with significant morbidity and mortality, but a systematic approach to investigation and prompt initiation of supportive management and, in some cases, effective specific treatment can result in good outcomes. Atypical hemolytic uremic syndrome (aHUS) is a thrombotic microangiopathy (TMA)-related disease that manifests as a triad of microangiopathic hemolytic anemia, thrombocytopenia, and acute kidney injury (AKI) and is caused by uncontrolled activation of the complement system. Abstract:
This paper presents a literature review on state of art in issues of etiology, pathogenesis, clinical features and diagnosis of thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (ТТP or Moschcowitz’s disease). Data on a rare pathology of congenital ТТP (Upshaw—Schulman syndrome) and its manifestation during pregnancy are summarized. Various aspects of differential diagnosis for microangiopathic hemolytic anemia (МАHA), complicated issues in differential diagnosis for thrombotic microangiopathies (ТТP, hemolytic uremic syndrome, HELLP syndrome) during pregnancy are discussed. Specificity of clinical manifest

Abstract:
Thrombotic microangiopathy is a group of disorders characterized by microangiopathic hemolytic anemia, thrombocytopenia and organ damage. Wide age distribution and the heterogeneity in presentation demand a deeper understanding into the pathogenesis of TMA. Primary TMA is distinct from TMA associated with secondary causes and remains clinically occult till a precipitating factor aggravates it. The extent and severity of renal damage caused by each of them is also distinct. The first alerting signal could be the presence of schistiocytes on peripheral smear and arteriolar thrombi on light micro

Abstract Microangiopathic hemolytic anemia (MAHA) with thrombocytopenia, suggests a thrombotic microangiopathy (TMA), linked with thrombus formation affecting small or larger vessels. In cancer patients, it may be directly related to the underlying malignancy (initial presentation or progressive disease), to its treatment, or a separate incidental diagnosis. It is vital to differentiate incidental thrombotic thrombocytopenia purpura or atypical hemolytic uremic syndrome in cancer patients presenting with a TMA, as they have different treatment strategies, and prompt initiation of treatment imp

Abstract:
Thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (TTP) is a medical emergency characterized by occlusive microangiopathy due to intravascular platelet aggregation. This event results in damage to the red blood cells (RBCs) known as microangiopathic hemolytic anemia (MAHA). Schistocytes are circulating fragments of damaged RBCs that have different morphological features including keratocytes, helmet cells, and spherocytes. It is critical to report even a small number of these abnormal RBCs in the peripheral blood and to be alert for the possible diagnosis of TTP, especially in unexplained anemia and thrombo
