Abstract:
ABSTRACTThe standard paradigm for microbiological testing is dependent on the presentation of a patient to a clinician. Tests are then requested based on differential diagnoses using the patient's symptoms as a guide. The era of high-throughput genomic methods has the potential to replace this model for the first time with what could be referred to as “hypothesis-free testing.” This approach utilizes one of a variety of methodologies to obtain a sequence from potentially any nucleic acid in a clinical sample, without prior knowledge of its content. Abstract The performance of a liquid chromatographic (LC) methcd for spiramycin measurement in bovine plasma has been compared with that of a microbiological method. Plasna samples were obtained from cattle administered spiramycn intravenously. Comparison tests used were intraclass cornlation (r1), correlation (r), and Student’s paired t-test. For cocentratlons lower than 2.5 lU/mL, microbiological value were higher than LC values. This difference in results modfied pharmacokinetic interpretation and might be explaind by the presence of microbiologically active metabolites.

Abstract:
The objectives of the research were to: (1) Define laboratory test parameters and select equipment that can consistently produce MIC initiation, (2) Establish clear protocols for conducting the testing and performing analysis of the colonized/ corroded surfaces, (3) Communicate these protocols in a straightforward manner, (4) Establish test control standards for biotic and abiotic coupon exposure results under various flow regimes, (5) Investigate precursors to cell attachment on steel surfaces for the test conditions specified, and (6) Correlate lab test coupons with corrosion observed on cou

Abstract:
Pinhole leaks have been reported as a significant cause of oil and gas pipeline failures in recent years. From 2010 to 2015, at least 131 significant incidents involving oil and gas pipelines in the United States (101 and 30, respectively) were attributed to pinhole leaks. The 9th European Gas Pipeline Incident Data Group Report states that as of 2013, the five-year moving average failure frequency for pinholes was equal to an approximate annual rate of 0.105 failures per 1,000 kilometers of pipeline(1). Pinholes may result from normal pipeline corrosion during routine operations, such as micr

Abstract:
In February 2020 the FSA published two reports which produced new estimates of foodborne norovirus cases. These were the ‘Norovirus Attribution Study’ (NoVAS study) (O’Brien et al., 2020) and the accompanying internal FSA technical review ‘Technical Report: Review of Quantitative Risk Assessment of foodborne norovirus transmission’ (NoVAS model review), (Food Standards Agency, 2020). The NoVAS study produced a Quantitative Microbiological Risk Assessment model (QMRA) to estimate foodborne norovirus. The NoVAS model review considered the impact of using alternative assumptions and other data so

Abstract:
Part I: The purpose of the investigation was to develop the extraction process that was simple, practical and giving high yield. The maceration of dried powder of Garcinia mangostana fruit husk with ethyl acetate gave yellow crystalline powder of mangostin. The yield was calculated as 7.47%. The identification of the Garcinia mangostanahusk extract was carried out by thin-layer chromatography (TLC) and differential scanning calorimetry. The TLC of mangostin was done by using the alumina sheet and ethyl acetate: hexane (3:1) as mobile phase. The Rf value as compared with standard mangostin was
