The picture naming articulation test, one of the most widely used speech assessment procedures, provides an excellent paradigm to study the potential of microcomputers with young, speech involved children. The stimulus-response format of the articulation test is structurally similar to assessment and management procedures crossing the spectrum of speech disorders. Findings from three studies comparing booklet-presented pictures to microcomputer-presented graphics indicate that microcomputers have certain control advantages in motivating children's repeated trials. However, spontaneous articula

This paper describes the development of a microprocessor-controlled vector graphics system for microcomputers. The microcomputer accepts data lists specifying graphic lines and transfers these to the microprocessor where they are stored and used to constantly refresh the screen of a standard oscilloscope via a screen controller. The system resolution is 253 × 253 and lines are drawn at a rate of 5000/sec.

A system for collecting and measuring X-ray diffraction data from protein crystals has been developed for a multiwire area detector. Computer programs run concurrently on two microcomputers, which collect and reduce detector data to integrated intensities. The self-contained system consists of an X-ray area detector, a rotation/oscillation camera, and two microcomputers connected by a high-speed Ethernet network. One microcomputer is dedicated to operation of the detector, control of the camera, and storage of the raw data. The second microcomputer automatically integrates the data as they are

Abstract:
This thesis addresses the issue of increasing the efficiency of microcomputers for solid modeling systems. In this study, the winged-edge and vertex-edge data structures are implemented in a solid Modeling subsystem on the Rainbow 100B microcomputer, with solid modeling algorithms that manipulate and display these structures. The data structures and algorithms are compared and evaluated for their efficiency, feasibility and ease of implementation.

There is an increasing demand for a computer graphics - oriented software package for graph theory teaching and research. G-Net, a department research project headed by Dr. Kunwarjit Bagga, is an effort to create a computer software that contains a graph theory database, a graph editor, and a collection of algorithms to be executed on the graphs. This thesis concentrates on the design and implementation of a graph editor - GrapliPerfect. Graphs have been widely used to model many other phenomena. In this thesis, computer generated graphics images are used to represent graphs. This modeling rel

Schematic and reduced eyes are useful models for analyzing optical components and predicting refractive states of living eyes. However, the tedious calculations necessary for their construction makes its difficult to substitute various parameters, thus limiting their practicality. We demonstrate a basic program suitable for IBM PC compatible computers that simplifies the task of constructing schematic and reduced eyes. Given input of intraocular distances, refractive indices, and radii of curvature, the computer performs the necessary calculations and displays the resulting dimensions in tabul

Abstract:
The Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (SLAM) problem is recurrent in today's robotics. One challenge of it is the extensive computational cost to create complex maps in real-time. Various applications, mainly search and rescue operate in GPS denied scenarios, with possible difficulty communicating with an external base. A portable SLAM system capable of being run in a microcomputer would greatly help such operations. This paper mentions the unfinished into this topic and discusses further steps that shall be taken in the upcoming months.
