Abstract:
The rapid evolution of the microcomputer has changed the software needs of today's naval architects. The Department of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering at The University of Michigan has been a leader in the application of computers in ship design education. The computer environment readily available to the department's students has changed dramatically in the past few years with the evolution of the Computer-Aided Marine Design Laboratory within the department and the creation of the Computer Aided Engineering Network (CAEN) within the College of Engineering. The microcomputer facilities available to the students are briefly described. To fully integrate this capability into the department's curriculum, a coordinated suite of computer-aided ship design software has been developed for use on the Macintosh and IBM-PC/XT/AT microcomputers provided for the students. To support the use of this and other software on a wide range of computers, a portable, device-independent computer graphics subprogram package M-PLOT has been developed. The educational philosophy behind this design software and its scope, capabilities, and use in ship design education are described. Examples of the use of selected programs are presented to illustrate these capabilities. Plans for further work are outlined. The effort is well toward the goal of a complete, microcomputer-based ship design software environment.

It is proposed that the C8051F040 microcontroller is based on the integrated A/D converter and CAN controller; utilize dynamic control simulation input quantity into the built-in A/D converter, process and store the data through the micro-processing unit, and use integrated CAN controller to transmit the data. From schematics design to the boards development, we have achieved the functions that acquisition of multi-channel data combined with CAN network communication through hardware and software debugging. The technology is based on a semiconductor CdZnTe-portable (almost the size of a mobile phone) gamma-ray spectrometer with high resolution, which provides high efficiency of rapid identification of radionuclides and assessment of radiation dose from low to moderately high levels. The CdZnTe gamma-ray spectrometer is a highly efficient device based on the use of CdZnTe (CZT) semiconductor detectors operating at room temperature with very low power consumption, a digital multichannel analyzer, and a microcomputer. CdZnTe-portable spectrometer is a self-contained device and consists of three modules - a detector module, a multichannel analyzer, and a microcomputer. The detector module contains a high-quality CdZnTe detector, a preamplifier, and a high voltage power supply for the detector. There are detector modules with different volumes of the CZT detector from 5 mm3 to 1600 mm3. It is possible to use a multi-detector system. The analyzer module contains an amplifier, a digital signal processor, a low voltage power supply, and a computer interface. The microcomputer software interacts with the multichannel analyzer, analyzes gamma spectra, and provides the accumulation of time profiles of the dose of gamma radiation, communication with other information systems. Spectrometric measurements in real-time make it possible to use "electronic collimation" technologies to build a map of the radiation field and localize sources of ionizing radiation, with the subsequent certification of identified sources, creation of an effective radiation monitoring system with the functions of certification of ionizing sources radiation. The corresponding software allows you to solve the following tasks – building a three-dimensional map of the fields of ionizing radiation of various degrees of spatial detailing, taking into account the radiation energy, localization, and certification of gamma radiation sources. The special laboratory kit is based on μSPEC microspectrometers. A LattePanda single board computer is used to control the operation of spectrometers, collect and analyze data. LattePanda – A Windows 10 Computer with integrated Arduino. This explains the choice of LattePanda. Windows 10 application allows you to use the WinSPEC software to control the multichannel analyzer operation supplied with the spectrometer. The built-in Arduino allows you to remote control the movement of the radiation source during laboratory experiment. Both the traditional problems of calibrating spectrometers (energy calibration and efficiency curves), including those for various source geometries, processing the measured spectra using standard programs, calculating the activity of sources, and the problem of creating a spectra processing program and a spectrometer control program are considered. The values of the minimum detectable activity are given.

The computer was used to model, simulate and analyze social phenomena in the research. This study aims to analyze the uses of computer software in demographic research in Nepal. Information was gathered from secondary sources from reports of GOs and NGOs, manuals and guidelines of various software packages. Information was taken from the United Nations software package, World Health Organization, United Nations Population Funds and software package of the U.S. Census Bureau. Other’s information was taken from the National Housing and Census and Demographic Health Survey of Nepal. To achieve the objective of this study data are analysed in a descriptive method. This study has focused on computer software mainly SPSS, Mort Park, CS Pro, and STATA. The roles of computer have been helpful in quantitative research. Its role is also important when the research is on a large sample. The computer assists the researcher throughout different phases in the quantitative research process. The major five phases of the research process are the conceptual phase, design and planning phase, empirical phase, analytic phase, and dissemination phase. The use of computer software is helpful in data entry, data editing, and data management. The data analysis software is supportive of processing and manipulating information and analyzing the relationship between variables. Therefore, the use of computer software can save money, time, and resources in research. In the case of Nepal, the Integrated Microcomputer Processing System (IMPS) was in the census in 1991. STATA and SPSS software packages were used for data editing, management, and tabulation of the census results. Open Data Kit platform and CAPI was used for data collection and the CS Pro software was used for data management in various demographic studies in Nepal.

Abstract:
This study proposes a design for unmanned chemical factories and implementation based on ultra-low-cost Internet of Things technology, to combat the impact of COVID-19 on industrial factories. A safety and private blockchain network architecture was established, including a three-layer network structure comprising edge, fog, and cloud calculators. Edge computing uses a programmable logic controller and a single-chip microcomputer to transmit and control the motion path of a four-axis robotic arm motor. The fog computing architecture is implemented using Python software. The structure is integrated and applied using a convolutional neural network (CNN) and a fractional-order proportional-integral-derivative controller (FOPID). In addition, edge computing and fog computing signals are transmitted through the blockchain, and can be directly uploaded to the cloud computing controller for signal integration. The integrated application of the production line sensor and image recognition based on the network layer was addressed. We verified the image recognition of the CNN and the robot motor signal control of the FOPID. This study proposes that a CNN + FOPID method can improve the efficiency of the factory by more than 50% compared with traditional manual operators. The low-cost, high-efficiency equipment of the new method has substantial contribution and application potential.

Three kinds of unit cabinets for reagent bottles are constructed. A Single-chip Microcomputer and a Personal Computer are served as a slave and host control system respectively. A set of special application software is programmed by VC++ and Access to accomplish reagent retrieve/storage, usage reports and surplus warning by short massage based on the Internet of Things. Abstract:
The use of the notorious synthetic dye, rhodamine B, in food and beverage products has been widely reported. This application urges the need to develop an analytical method that can provide reliable rhodamine B data with an easy operational technique. Therefore, this research is aimed to develop an Arduino Uno-based TCS3200 color sensor and study its application to determine rhodamine B levels in syrup. The design of the analytical instrument included TCS3200, an Arduino Uno microcomputer, an Integrated Development Environment (IDE) software, a black box container, and a 24 × 2 matrix display screen, where samples were prepared via absorption using wool thread. With a linear range of 1–20 mg/L, our proposed colorimetric sensor had recoveries of 96.25–110.3%, which was better compared to that was obtained from the UV-vis (81.8–100.6%) method. The detection and quantification limits of the sensor were 2.766 and 8.383 mg/L, respectively. The syrup samples used in this study were purchased from the local stores in Banda Aceh. Based on the proposed TCS3200 color sensor, the highest rhodamine B concentration from the syrup sample was 16.74 mg/L. The t-test analysis in this study revealed that the Rhodamine B levels quantified using the newly developed TCS3200 color sensor were not statistically or significantly different from the UV-Vis spectrophotometer method.

A software-controllable, consumer-grade, single-chip transceiver integrated circuit (IC) has multiple applications because it can generate a continuous-wave beacon while providing the basic functions of frequency shift keying digital communication as well. In addition, such ICs are low-cost. The above characteristics are advantageous for CubeSats with limited space and for university satellites with development cost constraints. In this study, we conduct radiation tolerance evaluation and Doppler shift tolerance tests to evaluate the feasibility of a single-chip consumer transceiver IC for space applications. In the radiation tolerance evaluation test, we compare the IC radiation tolerance to that of a single-chip microcomputer implemented in space and confirm the good resistance of the former based on the predictive analysis of the single-event upset incidence. Through the Doppler frequency shift tolerance test, we confirm suitable receiving sensitivity. Furthermore, we develop a transceiver IC as a CubeSat-class satellite component and successfully establish communication in an in-orbit demonstration, where the transceiver IC is employed as a CubeSat communication module released from the International Space Station. Thus, the feasability of space utilization of the consumer communication IC is demonstrated, which has implications for the development of more flexible and challenging system designs using newly introduced consumer devices.

System integrates technology as wireless communications, power line carrier, single-chip microcomputer , application in LCD and so on, through hardware and software design, realizes data storage, the node information query, node failures and cable guard alarm function. Experimental results show that the overall system has low power consumption, high reliability, strong anti-jamming ability, so that it can better meet site's needs.

This paper presents the development and verification of a computer aided design and drafting package for medium sized municipal storm water drainage systems (DRAINAGE). The numerical model, which is designed for use on microcomputers, is written in PASCAL Language and is compiled by PC software TURBO PASCAL version 6.0. The computer package for flow prediction and drainage design applies the Colebrook White Equation and the Rational Method to route pipe flows through tree-type drainage networks, automatically adjusting drainage pipe diameters to fulfil flow requirements and backwater effects. The progrmn outputs are written as DXF files which can be read and displayed readily as drawings of drainage layout plml ,md longitudinal profiles in an AutoCAD environment. DRAINAGE replaces the timeconsuming conventional method for designing stormwater drainage networks. Although the prognun is tailored for application and use in Hong Kong, it can be easily adapted to other situations.

Abstract:
The purpose of this research was to examine the effects of microcomputers on the ecology of secondary special education classrooms. Observational data were collected in twenty-six secondary school special education classes located in an urban midwestern school system. The data indicated that despite the ready availability of computers, only approximately 60 percent of the teachers chose to use them for instruction and they were in use only 25.3 percent of the time. The infrequent use was attributed to the lack of appropriate software, logistical problems in scheduling the microcomputer, and lack of training and support for teachers. The use of microcomputers was found to be related to increased student active engagement and decreased off-task behaviors. Unfortunately, teachers who used computers spent less time engaged in direct instructional activities and did not integrate the computer-based instruction with the teacher-based instruction.

Based on craft features analysis of vacuum casting, this paper concluded that the automation level and control precision of control system are key influencing factors for products quality of vacuum casting. So the purpose of this paper is to resolve these disadvantages of existing control system of vacuum casting equipments. This paper designed a new full automatic intelligent control system which adopts two-level distributed structure. The system is consisted of motor control subsystem, vacuum monitoring and control subsystem, and bubbles detecting and eliminating subsystem. According to the function requirement of control system, this paper described selection and configuration of hardware and function implement of software in detail. Finally, this paper designed and realized a new automatic detecting and eliminating method of bubbles based on vision sensor technology, and presented an intelligent controller model based on Wavelet Neural Network (WNN) for motors. The experimental prototype of vacuum casting has been developed and a large number of experiments have been carrying on. These new controlling algorithms have being tested. The control system integrates vision sensor, intelligent control, microcomputer interface and imaging processing technologies, so it possess high precision, efficiency and flexibility and has a good market application prospect and high economic value. It will be breakthrough for precise rapid tooling.

The logistics traceability system can cover the whole process of the product from the source of production to the consumption cycle. By distinguishing the key nodes of the product in the logistics sales process, the data information of the production and storage of the corresponding product is collected and entered at the corresponding node, so that the entire process is visible and controllable. On the basis of determining the overall system plan, this paper designs and develops the UHF RFID reader system and traceability system platform. In terms of the reader system, by analyzing its core functions and performance index requirements, the overall design scheme and frame structure of the reader system’s software and hardware are determined. The main control circuit is based on the STM32F103RET6 single-chip microcomputer; the RF transceiver circuit is based on the MagicRF M100. Simultaneously, we design a variety of communication circuits including LoRa and RJ45 to facilitate wireless communication with the traceability platform. In terms of software, through the research and analysis of the EPC Class-1 Generation-2 protocol standard, the multitag anticollision algorithm—Q algorithm—is adopted. This algorithm has the advantages of high recognition efficiency and a large number of successfully recognized tags per unit time. According to the design plan, the system is wirelessly networked in the B/S mode and the product information collected through RFID technology is transmitted to the management level to dynamically understand the information dynamics of logistics in real time. Using radio frequency, computer network, communication, and other technologies, the hardware and software systems of the system are integrated. The performance indicators of the hardware system are tested through experiments, and the design indicators are compared to prove the feasibility of the equipment application. After setting up the local area network and configuring the server configuration, the traceability system was accessed and the verification of the basic functions of the system was completed. The test results show that the low-cost universal RFID wireless logistics terminal has high accuracy and real-time performance in the process of logistics traceability.

During the last six years, microcomputer instruction to first-year engineering students at Waterloo has evolved to a stable format and content. Now, approximately 80% of new students have microcomputer experience. Hence, microcomputer software is demonstrated briefly in a laboratory equipped with an array of monitors and other multimedia facilities, and is followed immediately by student practice on a computer network. Students with limited experience receive additional laboratory demonstrations and personal assistance. Currently, students are introduced in the first week to the microcomputer network, and to a word processor. A brief memorandum is prepared by students to confirm their network access, and to detect students with poor writing skills. In weeks three to six, an electronic spreadsheet, graphing software, and other software are introduced. Assignments are integrated within an Introduction to Professional Engineering course. Microcomputer evaluation is based upon satisfactory completion of an engineering report, and two technical memoranda. Students acquire sufficient experience to continue self-directed learning with the assistance of full-time microcomputer consultants. Students realize that microcomputer skills are essential, both as engineering students and later, as engineering professionals, and their response has been quite favourable.

This paper presents a framework and a prototype for designing Integrated Construction Management (ICM) software applications using reusable components. The framework supports the collaborative development of ICM software applications by a group of ICM application developers from a library of software components. The framework focuses on the use of an explicit software development process to capture and disseminate specialized knowledge that augments the description of the ICM software application components in a library. The importance of preserving and using this knowledge has become apparent with the recent trend of combining the software development process with the software application code. There are three main components in the framework: design patterns, design rationale model, and intelligent search algorithms. Design patterns have been chosen to represent, record, and reuse the recurring design structures and associated design experience in object-oriented software development. The Design Recommendation and Intent Model (DRIM) was extended in the current research effort to capture the specific implementation of reusable software components. DRIM provides a method by which design rationale from multiple ICM application designers can be partially generated, stored, and later retrieved by a computer system. To address the issues of retrieval, the paper presents a unique representation of a software component, and a search mechanism based on Reggia's setcover algorithm to retrieve a set of components that can be combined to get the required functionality is presented. This paper also details an initial, proof-of-concept prototype based on the framework. By supporting nonobtrusive capture as well as effective access of vital design rationale information regarding the ICM application development process, the framework described in this paper is expected to provide a strong information base for designing ICM software.
