Abstract:
In this master work has been passed in review theory material of database and database management system. In addition, has been analysed the main parts of information system of business companies. Microsoft Office Access 2003 is the database management program that gives an improved user experience and an expanded ability to import, export, and work with XML data files. Working in Access 2003 is easier because common errors are identified and flagged for you with options to correct them. Additionally, a new feature to Access 2003 also helps database developers view information on dependencies between database objects. Therefore, Microsoft Office Access 2003 was used to created database management system of company, which sells products of food. In addition, has been explored how influence relations between tables, number of records, number of fields and length of text fields on the rate. Business management system is the main part of comapany information system. Microsoft Office Access 2003 could use small companies, which have no more than 20 computers. This program has some advantages, because it isn‘t cost a lot and everyone could install it without any problem. Examinations show that relations between tables and length of text fields don‘t influnce on the rate. But the rate depends on the number of records and the number of fields.

Abstract:

Den här rapporten beskriver en experimentell studie av Microsoft Network Protection (NAP) och är ämnad för att utvärdera hur mogen tekniken är för att implementeras i en aktiv nätverksmiljö. För att göra studien tog vi hjälp av gymnasieskolan John Bauer i Kalmar. Tester har utförts med DHCP-framtvingning och 802. 1x-framtvingning, dessa är två av NAPs fyra olika framtvingande funktioner. En mindre analys av skolans switchkonfigurationer och interna säkerhet har även gjorts på John Bauers begäran. Testerna har visat att DHCP-framtvingning är en bra och enkel lösning för John Bauers trådade klienter. NAP-funktionen 802. 1x- framtvingning var en större utmaning dock, och blev inte lyckad. Utbudet av information om NAP är än för knapphändig och vi anser därför att inte bara 802.1x framtvingning inte är redo för implementation, utan även framtvingning med DHCP.

Abstract:
I det här projektet har en databas byggts till ett nationellt forskningsprojekt angående nedärvda mutationer i genen TP53. Forskningsprojektets syfte är att få en större förståelse för mutationer i TP53 och dess effekt på den ökade förekomster av cancersjukdomar hos personer med den här mutationen. Eftersom det inom forskningsprojektet kommer samlas ihop mycket information som behöver lagras på ett överskådligt sätt finns ett behov av en användarvänlig databas som uppfyller deras krav. Målet med det här projektet var att bygga en databas i programmet Microsoft Access för att användas i det här forskningsprojektet. Databasen skulle kunna lagra, filtrera och sortera stora mängder information. Uppdragsgivarna önskade att databasen skulle vara ''lättanvänd och överskådlig'', samt att det skulle vara ''svårt att göra fel''. Efter många möten med uppdragsgivarna där databasen har demonstrerats och förklarats har ändringar och uppdateringar gjorts löpande för att nå upp till uppdragsgivarnas önskemål och krav. En färdig databas fanns tillgänglig till uppdragsgivarna när projektet var färdigt och vi anser att målen är uppfyllda, även om det finns säkerhets- och sekretessaspekter för uppdragsgivarna att arbeta vidare med innan databasen kan implementeras fullt ut i forskningsprojektet.
In this project, a data base have been built for a national research project regarding effects of heritage germline mutations in the gene TP53. The aim of the study is to get a greater understanding about the mutations in TP53 and its effects on the increased presence of tumours and cancer diseases in people with this kind of mutation. Since a lot of data is being collected there is a need for a simple and user friendly data base to store all the information. The aim of this project was to create a data base in Microsoft Access that can be used in the research project for storing data and also to simplify analyses of the results. The employer of this project wanted a ''simple-to-use and easily managed'' data base, and that it should be ''hard to make a mistake''. Muliple demonstration and explanatory meetings were held to update the employer regularly and to get important feedback about changes and other requests. A ready-to-use data base was handed to the employer at the end of the project and we consider that the demands where met, even though there is still a safety and secrecy issue that the employer needs to take care of before the data base can be fully operational.

Examensarbete beskriver hur ett analysverktyg har skapats för materialförbrukningen på Motorunderhållsavdelningen på Volvo Aero Corporation. Analysverktyget tar fram snittlistor och inköpslistor till motorn PW100. Dokumentering vid skapandet av analysverktyget sker i sju delar. Genom att skapa ett analysverktyg kan de strategiska materialplanerarna på Volvo Aero lätt generera en snittlista eller en inköpslista som baseras på historisk data. Tidigare var de strategiska materialplanerana tvungna att beräkna snittlistor manuellt och mycket handpåläggning gjorde att resultatet inte alltid var pålitligt. En förstudie gjordes för att få en bättre inblick i den nuvarande organisationen och hur arbetet styrs på motorunderhållsavdelningen på Volvo Aero. Intervjuer utfördes löpande samtidigt som en litteraturstudie inom området logistik gjordes. Detta för att få tillräckligt med kunskap till att skapa ett analysverktyg utifrån behov. En kravspecifikation togs fram för att bestämma vad analysverktyget skall innehålla för funktioner. Eftersom en stor mängd data hanterades användes Microsoft Access. Data hämtades från databasen SAP. Analysverktyget är uppbygd i tre delar: 1. Snittlista: Visar den genomsnittliga förbrukningen av material för vald motortyp och underhållstyp. 2. Lagersaldo: Kontrollerar vad som finns i lager utifrån vald motortyp och underhållstyp. Nya och begagnade delar är valbara. 3. Inkommande material: Visar material som inte har levererats in utifrån vald motortyp och underhållstyp. Utifrån dessa tre delar skapades en inköpslista. Inköpslistan innehåller motortyp, materialnummer, materialbeskrivning, kvantitet, pris och ABC-klassifikation. Noggrannare listor kan tas fram vilket leder till minskad kapitalbindning och en förbättrad leveransservice. Resultatet blir mer faktabaserat eftersom tidigare historik uttnyttjas.
The thesis report describes the way of creating an analysis tool for material consumption at the department of engine service at Volvo Aero Corporation. The analysis tool generates average lists and purchase lists for PW100 engine. The documentation of the analysis tool is described in seven parts. By using the tool the structural material planner can in an easy manner generate lists that are based on earlier historical data. Instead of creating lists manually the material planner can gain more accurate lists much faster. Previously there were no fact based results in comparison with today. Pre studies were made to gain a better insight of the current organization and processes at the engine service department. Interviews with staff as well literature studies in the field of storage and spare parts manage has given possibilities to create an analysis tool. Plan of requirements were created to specify the features of the analysis tool. The program Microsoft Access was chosen due to the amout of data to construct the analysis tool. All information was brought from the database SAP. The analysis tool was built in three integrated parts: 1. Average list: shows the average consumption of material for selected engine and maintenance type. 2. Stock status: checks the stock for material for selected engine and maintenance type. New and used material is selectable. 3. Incoming material: shows incoming material that is undelivered for selected engine and maintenance type. By these three integrated parts the analysis tool generates a purchase list. The list contains engine type, material number, material description, quantity, price and ABC-classification. By implementing the analysis tool in the daily work purchases will be more accurate. Capital binding will decrease as well.

Abstract:
The user's mobile communication device has an increasing sense of where the user is. This location information may be very fine grained or very coarse. Given some amount of location information it is possible to create location aware services. This thesis presents and evaluates a system for location aware web browsing. Indoors the user can click on a point on a map (to establish a virtual location using a previously installed user application), outdoors the location can be provided by GPS, or the location might be provided by some other location system (indoors or outdoors), then each HTTP GET request for a URL will be augmented with information about the user's location or their virtual location. Subsequently a web query is created. Then the location information encoded as longitude and latitude is appended to this web query. The web server uses this location information to generate dynamically location aware web pages. Finally a web browser shows the web pages.
Tillgång till information varsomhelst och vilken tid som helst är en viktig utkom av modern rörliga kommunikations systems. Alltmera har användarens terminal kännedom om användarens plats. För att en maskin ska anses som säker för användning krävs det att den uppfyller maskindirektivet. Maskindirektivet är väldigt generellt och kortfattat. Därför finns det standarder som förklarar mer specifikt maskindirektivets olika delar. Uppfylls inte standarderna så uppfylls inte maskindirektivet för respektive område och därmed är maskinen inte redo för användning. Examensarbetet har utförts på Rapid Granulator AB. Företaget är idag en av världens största producenter av granuleringskvarnar. Granuleringskvarnarna maler ner plastavfall till en mer kompakt form, granulat. Granulatet kan sedan återanvändas i form av formsprutning. Syftet med examensarbetet är att finna ett smidigare verktyg för att dokumentera riskanalyser. Uppdragsgivarens önskemål är att verktyget ska erbjuda användaren en tydligare överblick av riskanalysens ingående delar. Den inmatade informationen i verktyget ska vara lätt att granska och redigera. För att uppnå syftet och på bästa sätt möta uppdragsgivarens behov har följande två frågeställningar tagits fram: Hur utför andra företag sina riskanalyser och vilka verktyg använder de sig av?   Vilket verktyg är bäst anpassat för Rapid Granulator AB och hur är det uppbyggt?   Utifrån en förstudie som har bestått av metoderna: intervjuer och observation, har ett verktyg valts ut. Intervjuerna utfördes tillsammans med fem medelstora företag och observationen skedde hos Rapid Granulator AB. Förstudiefasen följdes sedan upp av en genomförandefas, där metoden litteraturstudier togs till hjälp. Litteraturstudien skapade möjligheten till att få en klarare förståelse av verktyget och dess användning.   Förstudien har resulterat i att författarna fann fyra olika verktyg. Med tanke på behoven och bristerna i nuvarande verktyg föll valet på verktyget Microsoft Access. Utifrån företagets tidigare riskanalyser skapade författarna en databas i Access. I verktyget implementerades sedan funktioner som grundade sig på uppdragsgivarens önskemål. Funktioner så som rullgardinsmeny, färgkodning och modulbasering infördes. Detta resulterade i ett smidigare verktyg, jämfört med det som användes tidigare.                                                                    Slutsatsen är att företaget gynnas mer vid användning av Microsoft Access i fortsättningen. Rekommendationen till företaget är att fortsätta använda sig av Microsoft Access vid kommande riskanalyser och därmed bygga ut databasen ytterligare.
The Machinery Directive gives a general overview of legal safety regulations that machinery must align to. Further specific safety requirements and standards for each individual components or assembly of parts must also be met in order to achieve a low safety risk. This work has been carried out for Rapid Granulator, currently one of the world’s largest producers of granulators. Granulators grind down plastic waste into a compact form of granules that can then be reused in the form of injection moulding. The purpose of this report is to propose a flexible tool for documenting the risk analysis for the granulator machinery, either by building on an existing tool or developing an entirely new one. The priority is to create a database that offers the user a clear view of the risk analysis for each component and allows data to be easily edited. In order to achieve this purpose and fully understand the client's needs, the following two questions have been considered: How do others business perform their risk analysis and what tools do they use? Which tools are best suited for Rapid Granulator AB and how is it structured? A tool has been selected based on a pilot study that consisted of interviews and an observation. The interviews were conducted with five medium-sized enterprises and the observation took place at Rapid Granulator AB. The pre-study phase of the supporting method literature resulted in a clearer understanding of the tool and its use. Authours found four different tools that can be used for documentation of risk analysis. Microsoft Access was selected as the most suitable tool to overcome the deficiencies of the previous tool. The authors have implemented features to meet the client's wishes. Features such as dropdown menu, color-coding and modulation basing are key additions that have resulted in a more flexible tool. The conclusion suggests that the company should exploit this Microsoft Access risk analyses database that has been designed specifically for their machinery and should consider developing the tool further.

Abstract:

Axel Spetz AB är ett anrikt företag som driver en järnhandel i Falköping. Företaget har tidigare använt sig av marknadsföring i lokaltidningen men insåg fördelen med att använda Internet som verktyg. Deras idé var en ”Blocket.se”-liknande funktion på deras hemsida som skulle göra det möjligt för dem att marknadsföra artiklar.

Formuleringen på deras behov och det som legat till grunden för detta projekt var: Hur tillverkar man en avancerad publiceringsfunktion som är lätt att använda?

Inledningsvis gjordes en teoretisk studie inom områdena databaser, SQL, .NET och Visual Studio. Valet föll så här eftersom det var områden jag ville lära mig mer om.

Under utvecklingsarbetet i ovan nämnda tekniker hölls en tät kontakt med representanter från företag för att de snabbt skulle kunna ge respons på arbetet. Projektet resulterade i två olika saker:

-En lösenordsskyddad administrationsdel där all administration såsom publicering av artiklar, hantering av artiklar och kategorier, intresseanmälningar, ändring av öppettider m.m. kan skötas på ett enkelt sätt.

-Företagets hemsida där besökare kan ta del av aktuella erbjudanden, bläddra bland artiklar, kontakta företaget, läsa företagsinformation, lämna intresseanmälningar på artiklar m.m.

All programmering har gjorts med slutanvändarna, dvs. anställda på företaget och besökare på hemsidan i åtanke. Ett antal felkontroller både färdiga och egentillverkade har använts för att se till att fel inte uppstår i arbetet med databasen. Istället för ”riktiga” felmeddelanden visas förklarande texter om vad som måste åtgärdas.

I projektets slutskede så lanserades Axel Spetz nya hemsida och den började direkt användas som ett verktyg i företagets marknadsföring. Jag anser att det är ett bra bevis på att projektet var lyckat.

Pour répondre aux attentes de clients de plus en plus exigeants, les entreprises d'aujourd'hui doivent accroître leur compétitivité, leur productivité et leur réactivité. Pour répondre à ces exigences, la fonction ordonnancement se doit d'être plus réactive, plus performante et plus adaptée aux spécificités des compagnies. Parmi les différentes possibilités d'évolution de l'ordonnancement, la voie de l'ordonnancement interactif semble répondre à ces besoins, et parmi les approches possibles de l'interactivité, l'utilisation d'indicateurs permet au gestionnaire d'atelier de connaître toutes les données nécessaires à la mise au point d'un ordonnancement performant. Quatre types d'indicateurs ont été définis : - des indicateurs de contexte décrivant l'état général de l'atelier, - des indicateurs de diagnostic aidant à identifier les causes de problèmes courants, - des indicateurs d'action renseignant sur la pertinence et l'efficacité de l'utilisation des degrés de liberté, - des indicateurs de performance, évaluant les performances de l'ordonnancement par rapport aux objectifs de l'entreprise. Cette approche de l'ordonnancement interactif a été appliquée à deux problématiques actuelles. Des indicateurs spécifiques à ces deux problèmes ont été définis. La première application concerne la prise en compte dans l'ordonnancement de commandes incertaines, encore en cours de négociation. La deuxième application concerne la gestion des opérateurs de production à court terme, au niveau de l'ordonnancement. Un outil de construction de tableaux de bord mettant en oeuvre ces différents indicateurs a été réalisé dans le cadre d'un projet européen (le projet ASPIRE).

Intelligent Tutoring Systems (ITSs) are computer systems designed to provide individualised help to students, learning in a problem solving context. The difference between an ITS and a Computer Assisted Instruction (CAI) system is that an ITS has a Student Model which allows it to provide a better educational environment. The Student Model contains information on what the student knows, and does not know, about the domain being learnt, as well as other personal characteristics such as preferred learning style. This research has resulted in the design and development of a new ITS: Personal Access Tutor (PAT). PAT is an ITS that helps students to learn Rapid Application Development in a database environment. More specifically, PAT focuses on helping students to learn how to create forms and reports in Microsoft Access. To provide an augmented learning environment, PAT’s architecture is different to most other ITSs. Instead of having a simulation, PAT uses a widelyused database development environment (Microsoft Access). This enables the students to ask for help, while developing real applications using real database software. As part of this research, I designed and created the knowledge base required for PAT. This contains four models: the domain, student, tutoring and exercises models. The Instructional Expert I created for PAT provides individualised help to the students to help them correctly finish each exercise, and also proposes the next exercise that a student should work on. PAT was evaluated by students enrolled in the Databases subject at QUT, and by staff members involved in teaching the subject. The results of the evaluation were positive and are discussed in the thesis.

In South Africa, water is a scarce resource and it has become very important to manage this resource effectively. The State developed a regulating framework, under the hospice of the Minister of Water Affairs and Forestry, which protects the country‟s water resources from over-exploitation by ensuring that it is protected, used, developed, conserved, and managed, in a sustainable and equitable manner. The laws and policies governing the use of water resources are contained in the National Water Act (South Africa, 1998), the National Water Policy (South Africa, 1997a), the National Water Resource Strategy, and the Water Services Act (South Africa, 1997b). In addition some water-related functions were transferred to Catchment Management Agencies and Water Users‟ Associations, and it is their task to ensure that the strategies, laws and policies are implemented. Effective water management can only be performed by making use of hydroinformatics which assists with simulations and estimations. As a result input data will be collected, added to a Relational Database Management System and output results generated. A Geographic Information System with the support of a geodatabase will allow users to store spatial and temporal data. The research project investigated different water-related data models (ArcHydro, Hydstra, GML, HYMOS, and WinHSPF), as well as hydrological modelling frameworks (BASINS, OMS, OpenMI, SPATSIM, and TIME) to determine whether they were adequate to assist with the decision making of water-related activities. It was found that these data models and hydrological modelling frameworks did not allow users to add new datasets to their existing data structures and in many cases only had a limited set of functions. For these reasons it was decided to develop a comprehensive, modifiable, geodatabase that will function in a modelling environment which will allow users to save their data in a centralised database. Additionally the functionality provided by other data models and modelling frameworks may be linked and used in the new modelling environment. A methodology that has been followed was to first establish the objectives of the research project, gather the necessary data, investigate various data models and hydrological modelling frameworks, determine the requirements for the modelling environment, design and create the modelling environment, design and create the geodatabase, and finally selecting the study area which will provide the research project with the necessary data. The following findings were made concerning the research project: firstly, that ArcHydro will be used as example data model to assist in designing the geodatabase. Secondly, that UML will be used as a development tool to assist with the development of the geodatabase. Thirdly, that the geodatabase will be generated from the XML schema and be made available to ArcCatalog. Fourthly, that data from different users/providers (Hydstra, Stats SA, Weather Bureau, Department of Water Affairs and Forestry, etc.) be inserted into the geodatabase. Fifthly, that any other hydrological modelling framework may make use of the data stored in the geodatabase. Finally, ArcGIS was selected as GIS application and Microsoft Access as a storage area.

Manufacturing systems are complex entities comprised of people, processes, products, information systems and data, material processing, handling, and storage systems. Because of this complexity, systems must be modeled using a variety of views and modeling formalisms. In order to design and analyze manufacturing systems, the multiple views and models often need to be considered simultaneously. However, no single tool or computing environment currently exists that allows this to be done in an efficient and intelligible manner. New tools such as HTML and VRML present a promising approach for tackling these problems. They make possible environments where the different models can coexist and where mapping/linking between the models can be achieved. This research is concerned with developing a hybrid HTML/VRML environment for manufacturing systems modeling and analysis. Experiment was performed to compare this hybrid-modeling HTML/VRML environment to the traditional database environment in order to answer typical design/analysis questions associated with manufacturing systems, and to establish the potential advantages of this approach. Analyzing results obtained from the experiment indicated that the HTML/VRML approach might result in better understanding of a manufacturing system than the traditional database approach.

Thule Sweden AB utvecklar, tillverkar och marknadsför kompletta och funktionella lasthållarsystem för bilar. De erbjuder en mycket stor bredd av olika lasthållare till över 1500 bilmodeller. De tillverkar lasthållare som cykelhållare, boxar, skidhållare, hållare för vattensport och andra tillbehör. För att en bil skall kunna bära en takbox måste det tillverkas en lasthållare som placeras mellan biltaket och takboxen. En del i denna lasthållare kallas för takbleck och dess form tas fram med en speciell takskanner vilken analyserar biltakets form vid kanterna.

Till detta har en mjukvara tagits fram som Thule kan använda för att söka/lägga till/redigera takbleck, istället för att manuellt söka i en pärm bland 700 olika ritningar. Programvaran var först utvecklad i Microsoft® Visual Studio 2003 (.NET Framework 1.1), men på senare tid omarbetad från grunden i den nyare utvecklingsmiljön Microsoft® Visual Studio 2005 (.NET Framework 2.0).

Innan programmeringen av mjukvaran sattes igång utformades en kravspecifikation från Thule om vad de ville ha för funktioner i programmet. Denna kravspecifikation har under utvecklingens tid ändrats, både under de möten som hållits och på en speciell webbplats som skapats för återkoppling av programmet (”TBS Felhanterings-center”), i form av buggar/ändringar/annat.

Förutom en avdelning i rapporten som behandlar hur denna programvara är uppbyggd, vilka problem som uppstod och hur de löstes, finns även teoretisk information om databaser, XML och andra teknologier.

Resultatet av projektet blev en applikation för hantering av takbleck som kan användas ute i fält (hos kund) utan uppkoppling mot en gemensam databas hos företaget (mot vilken all information synkroniseras). All information som läggs till/redigeras sparas på användarens lokala dator i form av XML som sedan kan synkroniseras mot den gemensamma server-databasen på företaget.


Thule Sweden AB develop, manufacture, and market complete and functional load carriers for cars. They provide a large amount of different load carriers for over 1500 car models. They also manufacture carriers such as bike carriers, roof boxes, ski carriers and water sport carriers. To be able to put a roof carrier on a car, a load carrier must be manufactured and be placed between the car roof and the roof carrier.

We have developed software that the group of workers at Thule can use to search/add/edit brackets, instead of manually search in a folder containing over 700 drawings. The program was first developed in Microsoft Visual Studio 2003 (.NET Framework 1.1), but has been rewritten in Microsoft’s new develop environment Visual Studio 2005 (.NET Framework 2.0).

Before we started to write the program, Thule gave us a specification of requirements that contained information of possible functions in the program. The specification of requirements has been changed a couple of times during our work. We have also put up a website where bugs and changes could be reported.

Except a part in this report, where we describe how the program is built, how we have solved problems, there is also theoretical information about how databases, XML and other techniques work.

The result of this project became an application, which the personnel at Thule can use while they visit their customers. The saved information can later be synchronised with the server.

The purpose of this diploma thesis was to build a management information system for a given microenterprise and to implement it successfully. This thesis aims to assess the risks, costs and benefits of the information system and to provide recommendations for analogous projects of the information system implementation in the future. The thesis is divided into two parts, theory and case study. The former summarises the most important fact on management information systems in general, the latter introduces the given microenterprise and pursues the process from building of the system to its implementation in the enterprise. Microsoft Access, database management system, proved to be a good solution for building an information system for the enterprise. The thesis delivers the following results: the information system itself, costs and benefits evaluation and the set of recommendations for similar projects. The main contribution of this thesis consists in the focus on microenterprises and in the real example pursued in the second part of the thesis.

Vi har i detta arbete undersökt om det går att använda datorn som ett pedagogiskt hjälpmedel i NO-ämnena, år 4-9, utan att ha specialprogram. Vi har utgått från Microsoft Office 97 och studerat följande frågeställningar: Hur kan det utnyttjas? Är det möjligt att hinna sätta sig in i det inom en vanlig lärartjänst? Går det att skapa en pedagogisk resurs av datorerna utan specialprogram? För att få svar på våra frågeställningar har vi studerat litteratur för att se vad som menas med en pedagogisk resurs. Vi har läst om olika inlärningsteorier och om hur datorn används idag. Vi har dessutom gjort 6 applikationer i programmen Access, Excel och PowerPoint och skrivit en lärarhandledning till dessa för att intresserade ska kunna göra dem själva. Resultatet av arbetet visar att det är möjligt att inom en vanlig lärartjänst utnyttja Microsoft Office 97 till en pedagogisk resurs om det finns möjlighet att utnyttja t ex sin kompetensutvecklingstid till detta.

Tofulfill this purpose, a small wood processing company in Sweden is examined andused as an example. To investigate and answer the problem, literary research is con-ducted to gain knowledge about data storage and the different options for this thatexist. Microsoft Access, MySQL, and MongoDB are selected for evaluation andtheir performance is compared in controlled experiments. The results of this studyindicates that, due to the small amount of data that the example company possesses,the simplicity of Microsoft Access trumps the high performance of its competitors.However, with increasingly developed internet infrastructure, the option of hostinga database in the cloud has become a feasible option. If hosting the database in thecloud is the desired solution, Microsoft Access has a higher operating cost than theother alternatives, making MySQL come out on top.

The paper focuses on the issue of access control. It presents an universal bilateral protocol of access control of ACP. The paper describes the messages and its sequences that AC portals uses for communication. It describes the functions and features of the modules from which the portal is composed. The paper suggests the concept of a modular AC portal solutions including the design of basic modules. It also outlines possible test scenarios. Under this proposal is generated functional AC portal on the .NET Framework platform using the C\# programming language. The portal provides access to local assets or to the assets on other computers in the local network. Created application is tested according to the scenarios proposed in both the network version and the local version of the AC portal. Test results are objectively evaluated and commented.

L'évolution des sous systèmes de stockage et plus particulièrement des disques a été considérable ces dernières années. Cependant, l'écart de performance entre ces dernièrs et les processeurs ne cesse de se creuser. Il est donc essentiel de bien choisir les ressources de stockage secondaire et de les utiliser d'une manière optimale. Pour y parvenir, une compréhension complète du fonctionnement logiciel et matériel des systèmes de stockage ainsi que des interactions entre les différents modules de ce système est indispensable. Nous nous sommes intéressés dans cette thèse à la mesure et à l'analyse des performances, ainsi qu'à la simulation de l'architecture de stockage sur PC. Nous étudions en particulier les systèmes d'E/S sous Windows ou plus exactement les mécanismes d'accès aux fichiers. L'utilisation de certains paramètres dans la fonction d'ouverture et de création de fichiers CreateFile sous Windows détermine la manière avec laquelle se fera l'accès aux fichiers. Le choix d'une stratégie de lecture par anticipation, d'algorithmes d'écriture retardée, de la taille des blocs systèmes ainsi que d'autres paramètres se fait par le système d'après le paramétrage de cette même fonction. Il est donc important de connaître et de comprendre l'influence de ces choix sur les performances des E/S qui sont bien sûr relatives à la charge de travail imposée au système. Le travail effectué dans le cadre de cette thèse consiste à d'abord trouver un moyen efficace de mesure de performance spécifique à Windows, c'est-à-dire que l'on prend en compte les paramètres spécifiques à la fonction CreateFile ainsi que les tailles de requêtes. En effet, nous avons remarqué des fluctuations de performance très importantes selon la stratégie d'accès aux fichiers choisie. Nous avons par la suite développé une méthodologie d'analyse des systèmes de stockage sous Windows grâce à laquelle nous avons identifié les différents paramètres de stockage aidant à la compréhension des performances obtenues. C'est l'analyse des temps de réponse qui a permis cette compréhension. En effet, nous avons remarqué une périodicité des temps de réponse dans le cas des accès à des blocs stockés séquentiellement sur le disque, c'est ce qui nous a permis de commencer l'analyse. Une fois cette analyse effectuée, un simulateur comportemental du système de stockage de Windows a été développé. Il permet entre autres d'évaluer les performances d'une charge de travail sur une architecture donnée pour qu'un utilisateur puisse décider de la stratégie d'accès aux fichiers la plus efficace à adopter avant l'implémentation de son application
The evolution of storage subsystems and more particularly disks was considerable this last decade. However, the performance gap between secondary storage and processor is still increasing. It is therefore crucial to well choose the storage subsystem and to know how to use it in an optimal way. In order to resolve this problem, a complete understanding of the software and hardware behaviours of storage systems as well as the interactions between the different modules of the I/O system is required. We are interested in this thesis in the benchmarking, the performance analysis and the simulation of the storage architecture on PCs. We are particularly studying the I/O system under Windows and the file access mechanisms. The use of some parameters in the file opening and creation function CreateFile under Windows decides on the way files are accessed. The choice of a read ahead algorithm, a lazy write strategy, the system data block size and other parameters is done by the system and depends on those function parameters. It is thus very important to understand the impact of those choices on the I/O performance of the system that are of course relative to the injected workload. The realized work consists of finding at first an efficient way to measure the specific Windows storage system performance depending on the parameters like those specified in the CreateFile function and request sizes. We have noticed very important performance fluctuations relative to the file access strategy used. We have then developed a methodology to analyse Windows storage systems. We have identified thanks to this methodology different parameters that helped us to understand the performance fluctuations we obtained. It is the response time analysis step that allowed this understanding. We observed that response times are periodic when the accessed blocks were stored sequentially on the disk, that was the starting point of our analysis. Once the performance study and analysis done, a behavioral simulator of the Windows storage system has been developed. It allows for instance the performance evaluation of a given workload on defined storage architecture for a user to decide of the most effective access strategy to adopt before implementing his application

This thesis deals with the field of information retrieval and the recommendation of reading. It has for objects:— The creation of new approach of document retrieval and recommendation using techniques of combination of results, aggregation of social data and reformulation of queries;— The creation of an approach of recommendation using methods of information retrieval and graph theories.Two collections of documents were used. First one is a collection which is provided by CLEF (Social Book Search - SBS) and the second from the platforms of electronic sources in Humanities and Social Sciences OpenEdition.org (Revues.org). The issues of information security can not be solved by using only one single technology of anti-virus, anti-hacking, intrusion detection, and firewall implementation for the past decade. The applications of network developed quickly to make the scope of information security more complex and varied in short years. The information security becomes very important in the industry as well. Therefore, the information security begins to be split into different categories, directions, and levels. The unauthorized inbound connection protection is a part of the information security. The most of LANs in corporation can not provide unauthorized inbound connection protection by using single firewall strategy. The unauthorized inbound connection protection consists of wired connection, wireless connection, remote access connection…etc. The most of technologies and methodologies regarding to unauthorized users in corporation don’t focus on visitors accessing network resources through internal network. The most of current network technologies provide the isolated physical connections or the separated networks using Ethernet switches for the issues of unauthorized access caused by the visitors from outside of corporation. There is a small amount of theses and discourses discuss about the software-based protection mechanism for visitor unauthorized access protection. The IPSec protocol usually applies to layer 2 encryption of VPN, such as L2TP based on Layer 2 Forwarding and establishing secure tunnel and transport mode. Abstract This research discusses the application of Access in developing digitalized site data, including construction basic data, construction daily log, contractor's billings, contractor’s phone book, customer's data management, which significantly suits our convenience in keeping architecture program record. This thesis first investigates the items and content of digitalizing site data. Secondly, we talk about the standard procedure and steps of applying digitalized database. Finally, we build up the mechanism of digitalizing site database. By the methods of system structure analysis, formula writing, some case studies, as well as interviewing experts, we have found that the evaluation toward this software is definitely approved positive. Our site database system may have summary calculation of works, materials and machines in different periods among each site, and additionally, its parameter of unit area. In the respect of contractor's billings, we may have inquiries about grand total of all contractors or one specific contractor, final balance according to periods, and also its parameter of unit area. All these immediate inquiry functions may help us master the cost and effectiveness of any progress in a construction and therefore improve efficiency of construction management. However, Excel is awkward in carrying out such inquiry functions as mentioned above. This research may be a reference for our constructionists in digitalizing site data management and developing the corresponding informational systems.

Nenhuma empresa moderna consegue sobreviver no mercado atual sem pensar na eficiência dos seus recursos. O Departamento de Manutenção ainda é visto, em muitas empresas, como um quartel de bombeiros, a quem se recorre quando há um problema. Esta postura não auxilia a eficiência de recursos e dificulta o trabalho dentro do Departamento. Os sistemas informáticos de gestão de recursos e planeamento, são muito rígidos e o custo de implementação de soluções por vezes é considerado demasiado para as empresas, fundamentalmente quando essas soluções servem a Manutenção. Neste trabalho procurou-se criar uma solução informática simples e barata, para a organização do trabalho no Departamento de Manutenção. Foi desenvolvida uma aplicação em Microsoft Access® cujos formulários permitem a gestão dos pedidos de intervenção nos equipamentos ou instalações. São geradas Ordens de Trabalho (OT) que, por sua vez, são utilizadas para criar os indicadores gerais de manutenção como os tempos de reparação e tempos entre falhas. Nestas OTs são registados os custos de mão-de-obra individuais, permitindo também criar um indicador de ocupação do recurso humano. A lista de artigos utilizados nas OTs é também atualizada na base de dados com a introdução do seu preço, imagem e fornecedor. No caminho da Indústria 4.0, é feita a recolha de dados dum Serrote Automático, por forma a acompanhar o trabalho desenvolvido e visualizar a estatística da sua utilização. Fazendo-se o acompanhamento horário da máquina é possível estabelecer planos de manutenção focados na utilização de que é alvo e não no tempo decorrido deste a última intervenção ou nas horas de trabalho. A aplicação, em Access®, que foi criada neste trabalho, permite gerir Manutenção Correctiva, gerar documentos de Manutenção Preventiva, inventariar artigos nos armazéns de manutenção, gerir a lista de máquinas, recursos humanos e fornecedores. Os documentos utilizados na manutenção, com a inclusão dos artigos e seus fornecedores e o tempo utilizado pelos Recursos Humanos na execução das tarefas, permitem a obtenção de indicadores gerais do funcionamento do departamento. O formulário da máquina Serrote Automático apresenta as estatísticas horárias do seu funcionamento para facilitar a tarefa de ajuste do plano de manutenção à realidade de funcionamento do equipamento.

O papel da manutenção tem vindo a evoluir devido ao reconhecimento da sua importância em diversas vertentes, tais como na qualidade das prestações de uma empresa, garantido a fiabilidade e segurança dos equipamentos, assim como em vertentes financeiras e económicas pela otimização do ciclo de vida dos equipamentos. A eletromedicina e engenharia clínica são duas das áreas onde a manutenção hospitalar revela extrema importância, pelo que as empresas desta área focam-se cada vez mais na implementação de serviços de qualidade de manutenção de equipamentos de eletromedicina. Este documento descreve as principais atividades realizadas ao longo de seis meses de estágio curricular realizado para a obtenção do grau de Mestre em Instrumentação Biomédica. O estágio foi efetuado na empresa Assistência Total em Manutenção, S.A., inserido na área da manutenção de equipamentos de eletromedicina em ambiente hospitalar em diversos hospitais e clínicas da zona norte de Portugal. São apresentadas a grande variedade dos equipamentos de eletromedicina observados no estágio, dando especial foco aos monitores de sinais vitais e desfibrilhadores. São ainda descritos os processos das intervenções de manutenção preventiva e corretiva auxiliadas e realizadas, os procedimentos das principais auditorias aos blocos operatórios e recobros, assim como o trabalho de desenvolvimento de um software de plataforma de gestão da manutenção, através do programa Microsoft Access.
