Abstract:
The process of detecting, assessing, and managing hazards is known as risk management. It involves identifying risks, evaluating risks, and implementing controls to limit risks. Risk management is an integral part of the overall management plan of any firm. The objective of risk management is to reduce the negative impact of risks on an organization's capacity to accomplish its goals. Financial risks, operational risks, strategic risks, and reputational risks can all have an impact on a firm. Financial hazards consist of threats to an organization's financial health, such as credit risk, interest rate risk, and foreign currency risk. Operational hazards include supply chain risk, technology risk, and compliance risk, which are all associated with the operations of a business. Risks associated with an organization's strategy, such as market risk, competitive risk, and regulatory risk, are categorized as strategic risks. Reputational risks include fraud risk, data breach risk, and social media risk, which are all associated with the reputation of a firm. This paper provides a comprehensive analysis on risk management approaches at Microsoft.

Abstract:
Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to contrast “doing more” and “knowing more” corporations. The paper sheds light on what makes a corporation competitive in the marketplace. Design/methodology/approach – The paper discusses the concept of “doing more”, as exemplified in practice by Microsoft under the leadership of Steve Ballmer. The paper relies on recent debates on Microsoft to make its point. Findings – Based on a survey of the current literature on Microsoft and its CEO, the paper demonstrates that only corporations that are innovative and shape the competition landscape are able to make a difference in the marketplace and significantly alter the competition equation. Originality/value – The paper reflects on the state of Microsoft and what has led to its inability to recognize key shifts in technology and customers' expectations. The paper sets the stage for a better understanding of corporations that are about “doing more” and those which focus on reinventing themselves and their industry by being about “knowing more”.

ABSTRACT The high corporate tax rate and the complexity of the U.S. tax code provide U.S. multinationals with the incentives and opportunities to shift income to foreign low-tax jurisdictions. In theory, U.S. corporations are taxed at the statutory rate of 35 percent on their worldwide income, but income earned by an active Controlled Foreign Corporation (CFC) is usually not taxed until it is repatriated to the parent company in the U.S. As a result, trillions of dollars in cash and investments sit in offshore companies, awaiting a repatriation tax holiday. Much of these earnings are held by technology companies. The case looks at Microsoft Corporation, a company with $60.8 billion in unrepatriated earnings as of 2012. The case considers tax havens, nonrepatriation of earnings, cost-sharing arrangements, and transfer pricing and is intended to expose students to the subtleties and complexities of corporate tax strategies. Although the case is set in 2012, the goal of the case is to demonstrate to the students the complex environment in which multinational corporations operate and is independent of any particular tax regime.

Продукти та послуги компанії, яка має потужну та віддану клієнтську базу, використовують підприємства та окремі особи в усьому світі. Прихильність Microsoft Corporation до інновацій та її зосередженість на задоволенні потреб клієнтів сприяли успіху компанії та допомогли їй стати однією з найуспішніших і найвпливовіших у світі. Мета дослідження – на прикладі Microsoft Corporation окреслити головні шляхи застосування інновацій ІТ-індустрії в медіаіндустрії, в бізнес-моделі яких медійний складник є основним двигуном їхнього ефективного розвитку та конкурентоспроможності на ринку новітніх цифрових технологій. Методологія дослідження. Систему методології нашої розвідки становлять загальнонаукові та спеціальні методи дослідження, а також окремі прийоми та засоби. У досліджені використано такі методи, як порівняльно-аналітичний, описовий, класифікації та структурно-функціональний. Окрім цього, використано такі підходи, як соціальнокомунікаційний, системний та інформаційний. Результати. ІТ-гіганти своїми розробками продуктів та послуг змінюють життя суспільства в усіх сферах. Сфера медіа медіа не виняток. Уже зараз світові економісти, обговорюючи ситуацію зі ШІ, зазначають, що «боятися варто всім, хто не займається фізичною працею» (Задерей, 2023), а власник Politico, Business Insider і Bild пішов іще дальше, вважаючи, що «журналістів може замінити штучний інтелект» (Коваль, 2023). Висновки та обговорення. Компанія має широкий асортимент продуктів і послуг, і це означає те, що вона не залежить від якогось одного продукту чи послуги для отримання прибутку. Це допомагає зменшити вплив будь-якого окремого продукту чи послуги. І в цьому головна мета стратегії диверсифікації Microsoft Corporation.

Abstract:
El presente trabajo de investigación tiene como objetivo realizar un ejercicio de estimación de valor para la compañía Microsoft corporation al 31 de marzo del 2023 mediante el enfoque de ingresos para lo cual se utiliza la información pública disponible. Se seleccionó a la empresa debido a la relevancia de la industria del software en la economía mundial y a que es la principal entidad en el desarrollo de software. Para cumplir el objetivo se realizó una búsqueda de información de Microsoft corporation, principalmente de sus estados financieros para el periodo 2018-2023, después se hizo un análisis financiero para conocer su situación y servir de base para la proyección de sus cuentas principales. Posteriormente se calcularon las variables necesarias para la aplicación del método de valoración. Finalmente, con la estimación de los flujos de efectivo y la tasa de descuento de 11.74% se obtuvo un valor de patrimonio estimado de $1,186,458.21 millones de dólares al 31 de marzo del 2023.

The experimental design was conducted to investigate the use of Microsoft Mathematics, free software made by Microsoft Corporation, in teaching and learning Calculus. This paper reports results from experimental study details on implementation of Microsoft Mathematics in Calculus, students’ achievement and the effects of the use of Microsoft Mathematics on students’ attitudes in relation to such experience. Two classes of the students from the first year student in Universitas Serang Raya were participated in the study. Corporations play a major role in artificial intelligence (AI) research, development, and deployment, with profound consequences for society. This paper surveys opportunities to improve how corporations govern their AI activities so as to better advance the public interest. The paper focuses on the roles of and opportunities for a wide range of actors inside the corporation—managers, workers, and investors—and outside the corporation—corporate partners and competitors, industry consortia, nonprofit organizations, the public, the media, and governments. Whereas prior work on multistakeholder AI governance has proposed dedicated institutions to bring together diverse actors and stakeholders, this paper explores the opportunities they have even in the absence of dedicated multistakeholder institutions. The paper illustrates these opportunities with many cases, including the participation of Google in the U.S. Department of Defense Project Maven; the publication of potentially harmful AI research by OpenAI, with input from the Partnership on AI; and the sale of facial recognition technology to law enforcement by corporations including Amazon, IBM, and Microsoft. These and other cases demonstrate the wide range of mechanisms to advance AI corporate governance in the public interest, especially when diverse actors work together.

Pengolahan nilai siswa dapat dikerjakan dengan menggunakan Microsoft Excel yang merupakan program aplikasi lembar kerja spreadsheet yang dibuat dan didistribusikan oleh Microsoft Corporation. Aplikasi ini memiliki fitur kalkulasi dan pembuatan grafik dan paling banyak digunakan. Untuk itu kegiatan lokakarya ini dilakukan agar para guru dan staf pegawai di SMA Swasta PAB 5 Klumpang yang belum menguasai program Microsoft Excel menjadi tahu dan mampu menggunakannya dalam hal pengolahan data nilai siswa.

ABSTRACT We examine the taxation of corporate income earned in the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico and how the repeal of the possession tax credit available under Internal Revenue Code (IRC) §936 resulted in many U.S. companies converting former possessions corporations into controlled foreign corporations. Although Puerto Rico is a U.S. territory, the conversions highlight that corporations organized under the laws of the Commonwealth generally are foreign corporations for U.S. tax purposes. A U.S. Senate Subcommittee reports Microsoft Corporation shifted offshore the recognition of nearly one-half of its U.S. net retail sales revenue for the period 2009–2011 by transferring intellectual property rights to a controlled subsidiary in Puerto Rico. We find that the corresponding U.S. tax benefits are significant compared to the credits once claimed under IRC §936, and over 20 percent of Standard & Poor's (S&P) 500 firms were in a similar position to avoid federal taxation by shifting income between political subdivisions of the United States.

The demand for office software and games is rising as a result of the continued popularization of computers, mobile phones, and other electronic devices. This article will examine the three investments using the process of assessing financial indicators, examine the investment value of each company, and offer investors some suggestions for further reading. Through the comparison of risk indicators such as total debt ratio, current ratio, asset turnover, profit margin, ROA, ROE and other profitability indicators, and PB ratio, PE ratio, and other market value indicators Finally, it can be concluded from the analysis of various financial indicators that MSFT-Microsoft Corporation and MSFT-Microsoft Corporation each have their own benefits and drawbacks, while EA-Electronic Arts have a low-risk profile and a high rate of return, making it the most advantageous investment among the three firms.

Nowadays, education and the learning process are changing rapidly along with the development of technology used as a learning media. There are many digital-based media platforms that can be easily accessed and used as learning media to support the smooth learning process. One of the digital-based media platforms used is Microsoft Sway. This digital-based media platform is part of the Microsoft Office Family of Products managed by Microsoft Corporation. Microsoft Sway is a Microsoft Office application that you can access through Microsoft Office 365. It makes interactive essays, reflections, projects, and presentations simple to create and share. The purpose of this research is to examine how the Microsoft Sway application is used, especially in teaching reading at the 8 grade of junior high school level. The method used in this study was qualitative research. Collection technique the data used in this study namely interviews, observations and documentation with research subjects, there are teacher and student of SMPN 7 Penukal. The results show that Microsoft Sway is suitable for use as a learning medium for teaching reading in 8th grade of junior high school.

The recent completion of a company-wide PC network system, supported by network servers intended to rapidly handle large data files from CAD systems, made implementation of digital imaging in the Corporate Materials Engineering laboratory of Case Corporation a wise investment. Laboratory reports in Microsoft Word with linked image files can be rapidly received through any of the networked PC's and are archived in the server system. The changeover from film imaging to digital imaging was very sudden. This change was accelerated by satisfied users, whose work was made easier and more productive, and satisfied customers within Case Corporation.

La evaluación del riesgo y rendimiento de cualquier activo es fundamental en el proceso de toma de decisiones de inversión, por lo cual, el objetivo de este trabajo fue evaluar el riesgo y rendimiento individual de las acciones de las compañías Apple Inc. y Microsoft Corporation, a partir de los precios de las cotizaciones de las acciones de dichas compañías, durante el período comprendido del 1 de marzo de 2013 al 1 de marzo de 2018. Para determinar el riesgo y rendimiento, se procedió a utilizar diversas técnicas estadísticas tales como la media o promedio, rango, varianza, desviación estándar y el coeficiente de variación. Los resultados obtenidos indicaron que el rendimiento promedio de las acciones de Apple fue de 2.40% con una desviación estándar de 6.36%, mientras que para Microsoft fue de 2.38% y 6.08%. Se determinó a través del índice de desempeño que las acciones de Microsoft obtienen mayor rendimiento por cada unidad de riesgo asumido.

Abstract:
Risk management and market losses prediction played a vital role in the financial sector. Value-at-Risk (VaR) is one of the effective measures for financial risk management. This research studies three mobile phone companies which are Apple Inc, Google Inc and Microsoft Corporation. The stocks of these companies are listed under the National Association of Securities Dealers Automated Quotations stock exchange (NASDAQ). The Value-at-Risk is evaluated by using two non-parametric methods and four parametric methods. Two non-parametric methods used are the basic historical method and age-weighted historical method, while the four parametric methods are normal distribution, student’s t-distribution, generalized extreme value distribution, and variance gamma distribution. Shapiro-Wilk normality test indicates that the return series of the selected companies are not normally distributed. This study found that, at 95% confidence level, the risks of the selected stocks are different for each method, and the stock of Microsoft Corporation is the least risky stock as it gives the lowest VaR. Through the conditional coverage test, this study founds that the age-weighted historical method overestimated the VaR. In addition, this study also concludes that the basic historical method, generalized extreme value distribution and variance gamma distribution are superior to other methods in the backtesting procedure.

This study aims to empirically prove the effect of executive compensation, executive characteristics, and executive share ownership on tax evading. This study was showed in the consumer goods manufacturing corporation listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) from 2016–2020, using a descriptive associative research method and secondary data. The sampling method used purposive. This research used 16 sample corporations, with a five-year research period of 5 years, so 80 samples were obtained for data processing using Microsoft Excel and the e-View Statistical software applications to analyze descriptive statistics, model conformity tests, classical assumption tests, coefficients of determination (R2), linear regression analysis of panel data, statistical test F and statistical test t. Results of statistical test F executive-compensation variables, executive-characteristics, and decision-making-shareholdings affect tax avoidance. The statistical test t of the executive compensation variable partially has a optimistic and significant effect on dividend payments—however, the executive's variable characteristics and the executive shares' ownership harm tax evading.

This paper focus on evaluating the Asian options and barrier options based on the data simulated from the Microsoft Corporation. This paper has three main research findings: the first is that it prices the Asian options and four types of the barrier options; the second is that it illustrates the reason for the price difference among the European options, the Asian options and barrier options with the help of payoff diagrams; the third is that it is explain the relationship between these two exotic options and the parameters used in the simulation. This paper would help investors better understanding the difference between the Asian options and barrier options from the perspective of the price and the sensitivity to the parameters.

Вступ. Сьогодні мультипотентні стромальні клітини (МСК) широко використовуються в наукових дослідженнях та клінічній практиці. Лікувальний потенціал МСК був продемонстрований при багатьох дегенеративних, імуноопосередкованих, запальних та інших захворюваннях. Джерелом отримання MCК людини являється кістковий мозок, пуповинна кров і плацента та жирова тканина, проте МСК, отримані із цих тканин, мають різницю в здатності до проліферації та диференціювання і вивільненні багатьох корисних факто- рів росту, цитокінів та інших розчинних трофічних факторів, так званих «секретом», які являються важливим показником потенційної активності стовбурових клітин. В той же час багато питань по природі, походженню, складу та механізму дії ще залишається не вивченим. Виходячи з представлених даних, метою роботи слугувало отримання секретом із різних джерел, а саме нервових клітин новонароджених тварин, клітин селезінки щурів і лімфоцитів крові людини, та порівняльне дослідження їх імуномоделюючих властивостей в імунних тестах проліферації клітин, розвитку запальної реакції та набряку мозку після ЧМТ. Матеріали та методи. В роботі використані експериментальні тварини – статевозрілі щури та миші розведення віварію ДУ «ІНХ НАМН»). Усі роботи з експериментальними тваринами проводили з дотриманням законодавчих норм та вимог Закону України №3447 IV “Про захист тварин від жорстокого поводження», «Європейської конвенції про захист хребетних тварин, які використовуються для дослідних та інших наукових цілей» (Страсбург, 1986), з урахуванням принципів біоетики та норм біологічної безпеки. Тварин утримували у стандартних умовах акредитованого віварію, знеболення та евтаназію проводили під ефірним наркозом. Отримання секретом із клітин головного мозку новонароджених щурів та клітин селезінки і мононуклеарів периферичної крові людини проводили відомими методами і зберігали при -20° С по 2 мл. Вивчали вплив отриманих секретом на проліфера- тивну активність лімфоцитів крові, та на розвиток набряку мозку у мишей після ЧМТ. Обробку ре- зультатів здійснювали за допомогою програмного забезпечення Microsoft Excel 97 SR-2 (© Microsoft Corporation, USA) на персональному комп’ютері з процесором Intel® Pentium® Pro з операційною системою Microsoft Windows 98 (© Microsoft Corporation, USA). Результати досліджень. Секретоми, які отримані методом короткотривалого культивування клітин головного мозку і клітин селезінки щурів та мононуклеарів крові людини, мають різну дозозалежну імуномоделюючу дію в тесті проліферації лімфоцитів. Вони стимулюють спонтанну проліферацію лімфоцитів і гальмують ФГА-індуковану проліферацію. Секретоми прилипаючої фракції клітин новонароджених щурів та клітин селезінки гальмують розвиток запальної реакції та набряку мозку у мишей після ЧМТ. Інші секретоми не впливали на запальну реакцію в головному мозку після ЧМТ. Висновок. Секретоми, які отримані із різних органів та тканин організму, мають неоднакову імуномодулюючу дію на проліферацію лімфоцитів та протизапальні реакції в організмі.

This paper analyzes, from a third-person perspective, the impact of the fiscal and monetary policies adopted by the United States since the outbreak of the COVID-19 epidemic in 2020 on the international financial market and the stock prices of large, listed companies, with a particular focus on the impact of the Fed's interest rate hike on the stock price of Microsoft Corporation. Through time series analysis methods, including ARIMA model, the study reveals the short-term effects of the interest rate hike policy on the U.S. dollar exchange rate and Microsoft's stock price. The results show that the interest rate hike significantly affects Microsoft's stock price, demonstrating the profound impact of macroeconomic policy changes on the micro market. AbstractSome of the world's most powerful corporations practise what Shoshana Zuboff (2015; 2019) calls ‘surveillance capitalism’. The core of their business is harvesting, analysing and selling data about the people who use their products. In Zuboff's view, the first corporation to engage in surveillance capitalism was Google, followed by Facebook; recently, firms such as Microsoft and Amazon have pivoted towards such a model. In this paper, I suggest that Karl Marx's analysis of the relations between industrial capitalists and workers is closely analogous to the relations between surveillance capitalists and users. Furthermore, three problematic aspects of industrial capitalism that Marx describes – alienation, exploitation and accumulation – are also aspects, in new forms, of surveillance capitalism. I draw heavily on Zuboff's work to make these parallels. However, my Marx-inspired account of surveillance capitalism differs from hers over the nature of the exchange between users and surveillance capitalists. For Zuboff, this is akin either to robbery or the gathering of raw materials; on the Marx-inspired account it is a voluntary sale. This difference has important implications for the question of how to resist surveillance capitalism.

O presente estudo tem como objetivo determinar a ocorrência da doença periodontal entre os pacientes atendidos identificando quais doenças periodontais são mais prevalentes e observando os possíveis fatores de risco a partir dos dados obtidos através da análise dos prontuários. Na pesquisa nessa mesma clínica escola, dos sexos feminino e masculino, com idades entre 22 a 73 anosOs dados coletados foram tabelados em um banco de dados elaborado no Microsoft Excel (Microsoft Corporation, USA), onde foram tabulados o número de pacientes, sexo, idade, etnia, presença ou ausência de doença sistêmica relatada pelo paciente através da anamnese presente em seu prontuário, data do exame periodontal e diagnóstico periodontal. A análise estatística foi realizada através dos testes de Qui-quadrado, Mann-Whitney e Kruskal-Wallis. De acordo com os resultados logrados nesta pesquisa, observou-se que há alta ocorrência de doenças periodontais, comprovando a relação da doença com a condição sistêmica do paciente. Os dados avaliados evidenciaram um alto índice da ocorrência de doenças periodontais, identificando a mais prevalente, pontuando os fatores de risco e correlacionando-as com doenças sistêmicas.

This paper describes a protocol by which to conduct a “close reading” critique of financial reporting on a corporate web site. The proposed protocol helps identify the rhetorical and metaphorical features of web sites and draws attention to their potential to influence social cognition. The paper complements and extends the “close reading” example provided by Amernic (1998) and is influenced by the approach to deconstruction outlined by Martin (1990). Application of the protocol is demonstrated through a “close reading” of aspects of the financial reporting on the Microsoft Corporation web site. The “close reading” reveals some of the benefits that are likely to emerge from arousing a greater consciousness of the subtle and persuasory nature of the hypertools used to effect Internetbased financial reporting.

This paper considers monitoring an anomaly from sequentially observed time series with heteroscedastic conditional volatilities based on the cumulative sum (CUSUM) method combined with support vector regression (SVR). The proposed online monitoring process is designed to detect a significant change in volatility of financial time series. The tuning parameters are optimally chosen using particle swarm optimization (PSO). We conduct Monte Carlo simulation experiments to illustrate the validity of the proposed method. A real data analysis with the S&P 500 index, Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI), and the stock price of Microsoft Corporation is presented to demonstrate the versatility of our model.

Despite Nigeria's treaty obligations, Nigerian courts have, in the last quarter of a century, consistently but erroneously held that the Nigerian copyright statute does not protect copyright works of foreign persons. The purport of the decisions is that foreign persons cannot sue to protect their copyright in Nigeria. Given that the decisions of three trial courts and a Court of Appeal decision were never appealed to the Supreme Court, they arguably remain good precedent. The decisions suggest that foreign direct investors who need copyright protection are exposed in Nigeria. Relying on two of these cases, a leading intellectual property law text echoed this erroneous position. This article demonstrates that the decisions were reached in ignorance of applicable statute. As such, the decisions should not be followed by trial courts irrespective of the rule of binding judicial precedent. The article outlines various mechanisms within the copyright statute that extend the protection of the Nigerian copyright statute to foreign works. This article goes further than previous works. Unlike earlier works, this article suggests the path trial courts should tread, despite the rule of precedent, in distinguishing this line of cases to hold that foreign corporations incorporated in many treaty countries and foreign works emanating from many treaty countries are protected in Nigeria. Unlike earlier works, this article demonstrates that lower courts may refer this issue to higher courts for interpretation and guidance under the case stated procedure. Whilst other works made passing references to the Copyright (Reciprocal Extension) Order 1972 (the 1972 Order), that arguably extends copyright to foreign works under the Copyright Act 1970, none cited judicial authority that held that the 1972 Order made under the repealed Copyright Act 1970 is still valid under the current Copyright Act. None referred to the Interpretation Act that supports this judicial authority. Unlike previous work, this article reveals that if the Microsoft case that is the most significant of these cases is appealed to the Nigerian Supreme Court, the court will extend the time within which the Microsoft Corporation can appeal and reverse Microsoft and the line of cases identified in this article.

Abstract Data collection and analysis are time-consuming processes. Each time data are transcribed, the probability of error increases. Electronic data collection devices are commercially available; however, they are relatively expensive (more than $2000). In addition, they may require programming by the user, or purchase of program instructions in the form of read-only memory (ROM) chips. Many individuals cannot afford to invest in one of these devices. Several lightweight portable computers are now available for under $1000. Among these is one sold by Radio Shack under the trade name TRS 80 Model 100 (Radio Shack, a division of Tandy Corporation, Fort Worth, TX 76102) which can be purchased with different amounts of memory and comes with a phone modem for telecommunications, an RS-232C interface, a text editor, and resident MBASIC (Microsoft Corporation, 10700 Northrup Way, Bellevue, WA 98004) programming language. MBASIC is a relatively common version of BASIC which is available for a large selection of computers. The Model 100 could thus be used for data collection, text preparation, and programming applications in BASIC. Currently, no menu-driven data collection programs are available for the Model 100 or any other portable computer.

Objective of the study was to find the prevalence of major health problems among street dogs in Pokhara Valley, Nepal. Data were taken from the rescued street dogs brought for the treatment at Himalayan Animal Rescue Team (HART), Nepal, from January to December, 2011. A total of 171 sick or injured dogs were brought for the treatment. All the preliminary diagnosis was done by the veterinary officer and confirmatory diagnosis were limited. Data were analyzed using Microsoft excel program 2013 (Microsoft Corporation, New York, USA) and results are presented as number and in percentage. Mange infestation (40.35%) was the most prevalent problem, followed by general wound (18.12%), respiratory tract infection (7.60%), gastrointestinal parasites (5.26%), and general nervous signs (4.09%). Two dogs were suspected with rabies. Maggot infestations, tick infections, poisoning, bone fractures, otitis, pyometras, bite wounds, mammary tumors, hernias, abscesses, and anemic conditions collectively accounted for nearly 24.58%. Results presented in this study can be a reference for non-government organizations involving in rescue and treatment of sick and injured street dogs to plan their activities.Int J Appl Sci Biotechnol, Vol 4(1): 53-56

Abstract:
Purpose Biopigments, natural colors from microbiological origin are of great interest because of their potential advantages over synthetic colorants. Therefore, this paper aims to evaluate the best possible fermentative conditions for the maximum production of biopigment using solid state fermentation and submerged fermentation by Monascus purpureus MTCC 369. Design/methodology/approach The biopigment was produced using solid state fermentation and submerged with optimized substrate to achieve higher yield. The statistical analysis was carried out using a Microsoft Excel ® (Microsoft Corporation). Findings On comparative analysis, it was observed that solid state fermentation resulted significant accumulation of biopigment (9.0 CVU/g) on the 9th day in comparison to submerged fermentation (5.1 CVU/g) on the 15th day. Practical implications Results revealed that sweet potato peel powder and pea pods provides necessary nutrients required for mycelial growth, and biopigment production, therefore, can be used as potent substrate for biopigment production by Monascus purpureus MTCC 369. Extracted color can be used in confectionery, beverages and pharmaceutical industries. Originality/value This work focuses on utilisation of waste for production of pigment as alternative source to synthetic colorant, and few studies have been carried out using wastes, but no work has been carried out on sweet potato peel to the best of the authors’ knowledge.

Abstract:
The predominant role played by the multinational corporations comes as a result of the globalization processes. These corporations can be distinguished by their significant economic potential which is often greater than the economic potential of many countries. The Google corporation was established in 1998 by Larry Page and Sergey Brin. Due to their strategy based on innovation, human potential and high quality standards, Google has developed rapidly and became a leader in cloud computing and Internet search. According to the ranking conducted by The Global 2000 Magazine in 2009 Google was placed on 9th position out of 123 computing corporations. When it comes to its market value, Google has taken 3rd position after Microsoft and Apple. As a result of the analysis of their economic potential between 2001−2009, based on revenue, profit, assets, market value and the number of employees, we can identify three phases in the company’s development. The initial period in years 2001−2004 was characterised by the growth of the output and strengthening of the position in economic rankings. The years 2004−2007 can be described as a period of rapid development of the company. In years 2007−2009 the growth tendencies varied due to the economic crisis in the world. Google involvement in the exchange market in 2004 was the trigger for activating the growth of company’s profited assets which in result positively affected the other factors. Since this improvement in 2004, until 2009 there has been a triple growth of the market value and twelvefold growth of the company’s assets and revenue. Moreover, the profits of the company grew 16 times which moved Google from 904 to 120 position in The Global 2000 Magazine rankings of 2000 biggest companies. According to the presented facts and figures, it can be stated that in the era of globalization, the development of the innovative Google company, similarly to other multinational corporations, will be sustained.

Accurate forecasting of stock prices and the construction of optimized portfolios are essential for investors in the dynamic technology sector. This paper proposes a comprehensive approach that combines Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) models with portfolio construction techniques specifically tailored to the stocks of Apple Inc. (AAPL), Meta Platforms Inc. (META), Amazon.com Inc. (AMZN), Microsoft Corporation (MSFT), and NVIDIA Corporation (NVDA) from January 1st ,2018 to May 31st, 2023. By leveraging the sequential nature of historical stock price data(80% of data), LSTM models capture complex patterns and dependencies, enabling more precise predictions of Adjusted Close (Adj Close) prices. Subsequently, the forecasted prices (20% of data)are utilized to construct optimized portfolios that maximize returns and minimize risks within the technology sector using Monte Carlo simulations, efficient frontier analysis, and key risk-return metrics. The overall result of the prediction data is similar to the actual data which implies that the integration of LSTM-based forecasting and portfolio construction provides a robust framework for informed investment decision-making and risk management. And the application of Monte Carlo simulations, efficient frontier analysis, and key risk-return metrics gave us two portfolio allocation options : Minimum Variance model (40% of AAPL,60% of MSFT) and Maximum Sharpe Ratio model ( 47% of META, 53% of NVDA). The evaluation of the two portfolios show that the strategy can significantly beat the SP500 index.

Abstract:
The virtual workplace (VW) has indicated a worldwide paradigm shift for corporations and policymakers alike, who have needed to take urgent action and formulate rationalized policies for a safe transition for the planet and people’s lives. The literature divulges that VW practices and their effects on social sustainable development policy are an emergent field of study, and a limited amount of research has been conducted in the context of developing countries in general and the country of the Arab Republic of Egypt in particular. Therefore, this research surveyed the leading four public sector banks in Egypt. A questionnaire with closed-ended questions was developed and circulated to a random sample of administrators at the top, middle and executive levels of the designated banks. The research empirically tested the independent variables of VW practices across three different levels, focusing on individual factors, intra-/inter-corporation factors, and the external context. The dependent variable was surveyed by examining the effectiveness of social sustainable development policies. Four intermediate variables were investigated, including age, gender, level of education, and position. Data was analyzed using descriptive statistics in Microsoft Excel to categorize the units of analysis using a Likert scale. Based on the results, concrete practices related to the VW and empirical policies for social sustainable development are proposed. Moreover, the research suggests key actions of improvement to be taken into consideration regarding VW practices, especially in the era of COVID-19, at the individual, organizational, and external levels.
