Abstract:
The modern education process requires introduction of modern information and communication technologies (ICT) in order to make classes more attractive, to properly implement curricular content and, as a consequence, to provide students with education compliant with applicable standards. Some didactic classes are more predisposed to the use of ICT, and others to a lesser extent. The Faculty of Production and Power Engineering of the University of Agriculture in Krakow has been using modern IT solutions to support the teaching process for many years. The mentioned ICT tools include the e-learning platform Moodle, office packages (Microsoft Office, Open Office), groupware tools, Internet platform Google Apps, Microsoft IT Academy and many specialized software. This study presents a case study of the use of ICT tools during selected subjects at the faculty.

Abstract:
The world has witnessed major changes in delivery modes in education due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Being no exception, Morocco declared a full lockdown in March 2020, and this resulted in the use of online platforms to cope with the new situation. The platform that was adopted by the Moroccan Ministry of Education was Microsoft Teams (MT). Hence, the current paper investigated Moroccan high school EFL teachers’ use of the platform accounting for their age, gender, anxiety, and attitudes towards the platform. For this aim, a questionnaire adapted from Computer Anxiety Rating Scale (CARS) by Heinssen et al. (1987) was distributed to 171 EFL teachers working in different public high schools belonging to the academy of Casablanca/Settat. Results revealed that the participants’ attitudes towards the usability of the platform were negatively associated with their years of experience, and their general anxiety and power and control of the platform negatively affected the time they spent on the platform. The findings imply that anxiety should be taken into consideration as an integral component in further implementation of technology in education.

Abstract:
Objective: To evaluate the readability of patient-oriented online health information (OHI) presented on the American Academy of Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery (AAO–HNS) website. Study Design: Review of the Flesch-Kincaid (FK) grade level for 104 articles on the AAO–HNS website. Methods: The FK grade level for 104 articles was determined using the readability calculator available within Microsoft Office Word 2003. The interobserver reliability for the FK grade level was determined by calculating the intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC) for 52 entries. Results: The average FK grade reading level of the articles was 10.8 (range 6.3-16.7; 95% CI, 10.4-11.2). Eighty-one percent of the articles were written at a ninth grade level or higher. The intraclass correlation was good (r = 0.83) for the 52 articles that were independently reviewed. Conclusions: This analysis has shown that the average reading level for each article on the AAO–HNS site was higher than the recommended sixth grade reading level. Although the AAO–HNS site is written at a higher level than that suggested for the general public, it is important to realize that readability is just one consideration in the evaluation of OHI comprehension. Physicians need to be cognizant of their patients' ability to read and comprehend written information and tailor their educational material appropriately.

Abstract:
Introduction. Hepatitis E is one of the leading clinical manifestations of acute viral hepatitis in developing countries. In industrialized countries, during the past several years, sporadic ?autochthonous? cases of HEV infection have been increased. Objective. The aim of this study was to analyze the epidemiological, clinical and laboratory features of HEV infection among patients hospitalized at the Department of Infectious Diseases in Military Medical Academy, Sofia, Bulgaria. Methods. A retrospective study of 806 cases of acute viral hepatitis was performed at the Department of Infectious Diseases in Military Medical Academy, Sofia, Bulgaria, between December 2004 and September 2012. The etiological diagnosis was established by ELISA. The statistical analysis was performed using Excel 2007 (Microsoft, Redmond, Washington, USA) and SPSS Statistics 19.0 (IBM Corp., Armonk, New York, USA). Results. Specific reaction to anti-HEV-IgM and anti-HEV-IgG antibodies were detected in 20 (2.48%) of 806 patients. The most observed clinical presentations were jaundice (85%), fatigue (85%), anorexia (65%), abdominal discomfort (55%) and fever (40%). The mean values of aspartate transaminase and alanine transaminase were 521 IU/l and 881 IU/l, respectively. The cholestasis was slight, marked with mean values of gamma-glutamyl transferase and alkaline phosphatase, respectively 418 IU/l and 486 IU/l. Conclusion. We report twenty autochthonous sporadic cases of acute infection with HEV. The zoonotic etiology of the virus as well as the foodborne transmission of the infection is discussed. We found that aging and pre-existing underlying diseases are risk factors for a severe course of the HEV infection.

The standard deviation (σ), the coefficient of variation (Vc, %), heritability estimate (H2), and the degree of dominance (hp) were determined. Statistical data were analyzed in Microsoft Office Excel 2010 using Statistica 7.0. Results. As a result of the conducted experiments, F1 hybrid peas showed lower thousand-seed weight than the large-seeded parent plants. Whereupon, the large-seeded genotype of a mother plant had a greater effect on the manifestation of this trait in hybrids. F2 hybrid peas expressed a thousand-seed weight trait in an intermediate fashion. However, the average values of this trait were much lower than in F1 hybrids. The coefficient of variation Vc in F2 plants was 24.3–33.3%, the degree of dominance hp was 0.20–0.32 (incomplete dominance of the trait). Scientific novelty. The inheritance of a thousand-seed weight in regional varieties that distinctly differ on this trait and in hybrids obtained by crossing was studied for the first time in conditions of the Republic of Bashkortostan. New large-seeded and small-seeded sources for pea breeding were identified.

Introduction. Iron is one of many essential mineral components necessary for normal functioning of organisms. This microelement takes part in transport of oxygen from the lungs to the tissues, DNA synthesis, and is essential for normal activity of numerous enzymes. Aim. The aim of the work was the assessment of iron consumption among students of Poznan universities with consideration of the need for this mineral component. Material and methods. The study was conducted between the months of February and October 2012. Based on the randomly chosen study group, 100 people were analyzed – 66 females and 34 males. In total 25 people from each of the four Poznan universities: Poznan University of Medical Sciences, August Cieszkowski University of Life Sciences, Poznan University of Technology, as well as Eugeniusz Piasecki Academy of Physical Education were included into the studied population. In this study a questionnaire was a tool used in the analysis. Statistical analysis was conducted with the use of computer programs: STATISTICA version 10 and Microsoft Office Excel 2007. Determination of average values of iron, vitamin C, calcium and fiber intake, was performed with the use of DIETETYK 2011.Results. Satisfaction of the need for iron differs depending on the university and gender. The low iron intake was observed at Poznan University of Medical Sciences, while the high one at the University of Natural Science. Men (25) more often delivered with food adequate amount of iron in comparison to women (3). Increase in iron intake was observed together with the increase in the amount of calories in the diet as well as higher BMI. The study also showed that chronically ill people as well as women heavily bleeding during menses more frequently suffered from anemia. The main source of heme iron for the students was poultry meat, while the source of non-heme iron were mainly whole-wheat products.

Abstract:
An ongoing project explores the extent to which artificial intelligence (AI), specifically in the areas of natural language processing and semantic reasoning, can be exploited to facilitate the studies of science by deploying software agents equipped with natural language understanding capabilities to read scholarly publications on the web. The knowledge extracted by these AI agents is organized into a heterogeneous graph, called Microsoft Academic Graph (MAG), where the nodes and the edges represent the entities engaging in scholarly communications and the relationships among them, respectively. The frequently updated data set and a few software tools central to the underlying AI components are distributed under an open data license for research and commercial applications. This paper describes the design, schema, and technical and business motivations behind MAG and elaborates how MAG can be used in analytics, search, and recommendation scenarios. How AI plays an important role in avoiding various biases and human induced errors in other data sets and how the technologies can be further improved in the future are also discussed.

Abstract:
This research is based on the hypothesis that the governments of Latin America and the Caribbean are lagging behind in the construction of cyber defense capabilities to face the international context of cyber threats, with respect to the member countries of North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), both in the organizational plan, as in the individual. To prove this statement, the text is divided into six sections. The first part presents the global environment of cyber threats, the economic losses suffered by governments and companies according to reports from information security firms such as Kaspersky, Microsoft, Verizon and International Business Machines Corporation (IBM). The second part presents the internet securitization process, the immersion of cybersecurity in national security studies, and the definition of cyber capabilities and the delimitation of threats to the Nation-State from cyberspace are addressed. The third part shows the trajectory of NATO as an organization in the development of cyber capabilities in the last twenty years. In the fourth part, a set of National Cybersecurity Strategies (ENCS) of NATO countries and allies is analyzed from the individual level, from which their main elements are extracted and their general anatomy is outlined. In the sixth part, an approach to different regional or global cybersecurity environments is presented based on measurements of the Global Cybersecurity Index (GCI), of the International Telecommunications Union (ITU), and the National Cyber Security Index (NSCI) of the Estonian E-Governance Academy. The fifth section presents the context of cybersecurity in Latin America and the Caribbean, according to studies made by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and the Organization of American States (OAS), as well as private cybersecurity firms. In the sixth, two case studies of Mexico, from the 2019-2020, are briefly presented, which represent the lack of maturity of its ENCS and development of cyber capabilities, an aspect that it shares with most of the countries of Latin America and Caribbean. Finally, brief conclusions are presented on the aspects to be strengthened by the region.

Abstract:
The value of the radius of the spray torch at different heat-technological parameters of drying and the necessary information for the analysis and optimization of the operation of the spray drying unit, depending on the productivity, its technical characteristics and the physicochemical characteristics of the material being dried, can be quickly obtained using a mathematical calculation algorithm. The calculations were carried out in Microsoft Excel according to the formula of Acad. A.A. Dolinskyi, in which the value of the average volumetric-surface diameter of a droplet in the spray plume is determined by the Fraser formula. The results of calculating the radius of the spray plume are presented on the example of a mushroom suspension, which is characterized by complex rheological properties, obtained using a special technology of the Institute of Technical Thermophysics of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. The calculations were carried out for a small-sized spray dryer with a cylindrical part of the chamber 1.3 m in diameter and a disk atomizer at different parameters: air temperature at the chamber inlet, the unit's capacity for liquid product and its temperature. The dependences obtained from the calculated data demonstrate the possibility of reducing the radius of the spray of a liquid heterogeneous system with a temperature of 50-60 ° C by an average of 20% in comparison with the cooled product, and with an increase in the temperature of the coolant at the inlet to the chamber from 160 ° C to 190 ° C, the productivity of the spray drying unit increases by 25-30%. The high convergence of the calculated data with the experimental ones indicates the advisability of using this mathematical calculation algorithm for a quick and well-grounded determination of the rational dimensions of industrial spray dryers for the production of dry forms of new types of products, taking into account the complex rheological properties of the initial high-humidity heterogeneous systems and the peculiarities of the kinetics of their drying.

Abstract:
In introduction studies, it is of great importance to determine how favorable the water balance of the studied species is under given environmental conditions. The aim of the research was to study the water regime of some varieties of chrysanthemums in the conditions of the Southern Ural. The study was conducted in 20182020 on the basis of the South-Ural Botanical Garden-Institute of the Ufa Federal Research Centre of Russian Academy of Sciences. The objects of the study were 23 varieties of Chrysanthemum hortorum Bailey. In the course of the research, the total water content, water-holding capacity, the content of mobile moisture, water deficit, and sublethal water deficit were determined. The analysis of water regime indicators is based on the method of artificial wilting (V.N. Tarenkov, L.N. Ivanova) and the method of saturation of plant samples (V.P. Moiseev, N.P. Reshetsky). Sublethal water deficit was determined by the method of T.K. Goryshina, L.I. Samsonova, modified by N.I. Bobrovskaya. The calculations were carried out by standard methods using statistical packages of the Microsoft Excel 2003 and the Agros 2.13 program. The studies made it possible to determine the value of the sublethal water deficit (28,4%) for the varieties of chrysanthemums in the conditions of the Bashkir Ural. It was found that the studied varieties during the growing season did not experience such a moisture deficit in the tissues that could lead to irreversible damage to the assimilating organs. Our experiments showed that chrysanthemum varieties in the Bashkir Cis-Ural under the same soil-climatic and agrotechnical conditions had the following range of indicators of total water content 70,090,4% and water-holding capacity 19,0064,6%. The analysis of variance revealed significant differences between water-holding capacity and the content of mobile moisture by varieties, the share of influence was 27,8531,71%. As a result of the correlation-regression analysis, the authors revealed a direct dependence of the indicators of mobile moisture content on the total water content, and an inverse one on the indicators of the content of mobile moisture and water-holding capacity.

Abstract:
Though Brazilian academia claims equality, the sector has largely been referred to as non-meritocratic, and academic hiring is still inward-oriented. The Lattes platform, a public curricular information system, reflects elements of this protectionism. This article assesses two ‘obsessions’ in Brazilian academia: the ‘mandatory’ Lattes CV, and the assessment criteria and procedures in public tenders for faculty positions. The current situation is introduced to the reader, and the shortcomings of these methods and their effect on academia in Brazil are analyzed. The following improvements are proposed: (1) evaluations in public tenders based on a candidate’s CV, interview, and a sample lecture, (2) removing the Lattes CV as a mandatory format, and (3) using platforms such as Microsoft Academic, Google Scholar, ORCID or ResearcherID for curricular information. With these recommendations, Brazil can move towards a more open and international-oriented academic hiring system.

Abstract:
Relevance. Common thyme or garden thyme Thymus vulgaris L. (Lamiaceae L.) is the medicinal and aromatic plant containing essential oil which is the source of thymol and other phenol derivatives. This species is characterized by significant morphological and chemical polymorphism. Thymus vulgaris L. has numerous varieties and subspecies which are complicates for the identification of raw materials and makes its quality unstable. The study of intraspecific variability, not only by phenotype but also by biochemical parameters, is an urgent task in the search for varieties and samples of Thýmus vulgáris L. that are promising for the medical industry.Materials and methods. The research material was obtained from botanical institutions and firms in Russia, the Czech Republic and Germany and introduced on the experimental field of Vegetable Growing Department of The Russian State Agricultural University – Moscow Timiryazev Agricultural Academy. Studies were conducted from 2014 to 2019. Sowing the seeds was carried out in the 3rd decade of March in cassettes in a winter greenhouse. Seedlings planted in the field at the end of MayField experiments were laid at the «Vegetable Experimental Station named V.I. Edelstein » in accordance with generally accepted methods of field experiments. A comprehensive comparative assessment of the studied samples was carried out according to a number of criteria, in accordance with the recommendations of the State Register of Selection Achievements and the matrix of the morphological description of plants of the Lamiaceae family developed at the Leibniz-Institut for Pflanzengenetik und Kulturpflanzenforschung (IPK, Germany). Harvesting of raw materials and crop yield was carried out in the phase of mass flowering. Laboratory studies were carried out in the laboratories of the Vegetable Growing Department, Department of Botany, Selection and Seed Production of Garden Plants, Russian State Autonomous University – Moscow Agricultural Academy named after K.A. Timiryazev. The quantitative determination of essential oil was carried out according to the GF RF XIV. Statistical analysis was performed using Microsoft Excel.Results. The possibility of growing samples of Thymus vulgaris L. of different geographical origin under the conditions of introduction in the Moscow region is shown. A comparative study of the main morphological characteristics of plant samples of Thymus vulgaris L. revealed significant variability in the form of inflorescence, leaf index, the presence or absence of pubescence, anthocyanin staining, torsion of the leaf, color of corollas and leaves, plant height, yield, quantitative content of essential oil and flavonoids. At the same time, the height of the plants was relatively stable every year and between varieties. According to a set of indicators, the most productive and stable samples was “Di Roma”, which is characterized by a high yield of aerial mass (104 g / plant), a consistently high content of essential oil (1.04-1.8%) with a predominant thymol component (39-80%), high flavonoid content (1,47-2,26%). Varieties "Medoc" and "Deutsche Winter", which at a lower yield are characterized by a high content of essential oil and flavonoids.

Abstract:
Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to describe the obsolescence process of Microsoft Academic Search (MAS) as well as the effects of this decline in the coverage of disciplines and journals, and their influence in the representativeness of organizations. Design/methodology/approach – The total number of records and those belonging to the most reputable journals (1,762) and organizations (346) according to the Field Rating indicator in each of the 15 fields and 204 sub-fields of MAS, have been collected and statistically analysed in March 2014, by means of an automated querying process via http, covering academic publications from 1700 to present. Findings – MAS has no longer been updated since 2013, although this phenomenon began to be glimpsed in 2011, when its coverage plummeted. Throughout 2014, indexing of new records is still ongoing, but at a minimum rate, without following any apparent pattern. Research limitations/implications – There are also retrospective records being indexed at present. In this sense, this research provides a picture of what MAS offered during March 2014 being queried directly via http. Practical implications – The unnoticed obsolescence of MAS affects to the quality of the service offered to its users (both those who engage in scientific information seeking and also those who use it for quantitative purposes). Social implications – The predominance of Google Scholar (GS) as monopoly in the academic search engines market as well as the prevalence of an open construction model (GS) vs a closed model (MAS). Originality/value – A complete longitudinal analysis of disciplines, journals and organizations on MAS has been performed for the first time identifying an unnoticed obsolescence. Any public explanation or disclaimer note has been announced from the responsible company, something incomprehensible given its implications for the reliability and validity of bibliometric data provided on disciplines, journals, authors and congress as well as their fair representation on the academic search engine.

Abstract:
Purpose The purpose of this paper is to assess the viability of the scholarly search engine Microsoft Academic (MA) as a citation source for evaluating/ranking marketing journals. Design/methodology/approach This study performs a comparison between MA and Google Scholar (GS) in terms of journal coverage, h-index values and journal rankings. Findings Findings indicate that: MA (vs GS) covers 96.80 percent (vs 97.87 percent) of the assessed 94 marketing-focused journals; the MA-based h-index exhibits values that are 35.45 percent lower than the GS-based h-index; and that the MA-based ranking and the GS-based ranking are highly consistent. Based on these findings, MA seems to constitute a rather viable citation source for assessing a marketing journal’s impact. Research limitations/implications This study focuses on one discipline, that is, marketing. Originality/value This study identifies some issues that would need to be fixed by the MA’s development team. It recommends some further enhancements with respect to journal title entry, publication year allocation and field classification. It also provides two up-to-date rankings for more than 90 marketing-focused journals based on actual cites (October 2018) of articles published between 2013 and 2017.

Abstract:
As for a recent learning platform as synchronous online learning through Microsoft Teams (MS Teams) in Academic English course based on particular three learning domains, very few previous studies were conducted and explored in Thailand and Asia. Due to the unending epidemic of COVID-19, the pedagogy in EFL context at every level of educational institutes has to be shifted to an online approach that has never been implemented in Rajamangala University of Technology Lanna Tak (RMUTL Tak), Thailand. The current study has mainly addressed the research gap by determining underlying cognitive, affective, and behavioral aspects in synchronous online learning. Therefore, this paper aimed to investigate perceptions and difficulties of synchronous learning in Academic English course through MS Teams. Academic English skills are not only acquired during the early years of Thai educational system but also at tertiary level. RMUTL Tak has currently provided an Academic English course as a mandatory subject that every undergraduate student has to pass this course before graduation. Promoting synchronous learning to Academic English course allows students have greater learning motivation. In the study, two hundred and fifty four undergraduate students studied in three faculties comprising Business Administration and Liberal Arts, Engineering, and Sciences and Agricultural Technology at RMUTL Tak. They were all enrolling in an Academic English course in the first semester, academic year 2020. Additionally, an online questionnaire including twenty one items and one open-ended question was employed in the study. All obtained data was analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively. The findings revealed that most of the participants have positively perceived synchronous learning as their fruitful online platform. Nonetheless, it was found that poor internet signal was considered as a dominant factor preventing them from learning online. Abstract:
Purpose The purpose of this paper is to reveal the bibliometric characteristics of highly cited articles in Malaria research for the period of 1991-2015. Design/methodology/approach The data of highly cited articles for the period of 1991 to 2015 were extracted from the Science Citation Index Expended of Web of Science. The keyword “Malaria” was used as topic term to search documents that contained this word in the title or keyword or abstract of the documents that published in 1991 to 2015. A total of 1,614 articles having TC2015 = 100 were retrieved as highly cited articles for further analysis, and Microsoft excel was used for the analysis purpose. Findings A total of 1,614 of highly cited articles were published in the 230 journals for the period of 1991 to 2015, and majority of the articles were appeared in journals that have top impact factor. The articles published in the 2011s have greater average citations and authors per article. Six journals have produced almost a quarter of highly cited articles and remaining articles were published in 224 journals. Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the USA was the most productive journal with 154 articles, which accounts for 9.53 per cent of the total articles, followed by Lancet (110; 6.81 per cent). We found degree collaboration value of 0.971 for the articles, which indicates the clear dominance of multiple authors in publication of highly cited articles in Malaria research. In this study, new indictor called P index was applied for the evaluation of the author’s productivity. As per the p-value, the White, NJ has emerged as the most productive author with the p-value of 0.41 (61 articles), followed by Marsh, K (p = 0.33), Nosten, F (p = 0.32) and Snow, RW (p = 0.31). The USA and the UK were the most productive countries. The article entitled as “Global and regional burden of disease and risk factors, 2001: systematic analysis of population health data” contributed by Lopez et al. (2006) was the most cited article with 2,245 citations in 2015. Research limitations/implications The data for the present study was limited to the publications that indexed in Science Citation index Expended of Web of Science. Originality/value This paper would be useful to the researchers to know the trends and achievements in the Malaria research and also to the library and information science professionals in collection building process.

Abstract:
According to modern views based on evidence-based medicine, the concept of "poly-endometrium" is defined as a benign, exophytic nodophilic formation of the uterine mucus that consists of glands and stroma, predominantly fibrous, containing a "tangle" of thick-walled blood vessels. The aim of the study – to learn the morphological features of tissues of polyps of the body of the uterus and endometrium with the establishment of the role of inflammatory factor in the pathogenesis of hyperproliferative changes in women of reproductive age. Materials and Methods. The article presents the results of a survey of 62 patients of reproductive age with polyps in the body of the uterus. The presence of the glandular component in 79.03 % of cases, fibrotic polyps – 12.9 %, and micro-polyps – 8.06 % were determined, respectively. The combination of polyps with non-atypical endometrial hyperplasia was detected in 80 % of patients with micro-polyposis, in 63.6 % of women – with glandular-cystic polyps of the uterine body, in 44.4 % of the examined – with glandular-fibrous endometrial polyps and in 37.5 % of patients – with fibrous polyps. Immunohistochemically, CD138 expression was detected both in the tissues of the polyps of the uterus and adjacent endometrial tissues in 43.5 % of cases, which became a marker of the chronic endometritis in the part of the surveyed, which formed the basis of the pathogenetic approaches in the treatment of such a pathology. For processing data standard procedures using Microsoft Excel were used. The research was conducted in the Laboratory of Pathomorphology of the Department of O. Lukyanova Institute of Pediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynecology of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine, head of the department – Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine, Professor T. Zadorozhna. Results and Discussion. In clinical analysis of complaints of polyps of the body of the uterus, clinical manifestations in the form of menstrual cord disturbance were 13 (20.97 %) patients, in 11 (17.74 %) patients there were no complaints about the desired pregnancy, at the same time as 38 (61.29 %) women were asked to carry out a preventive examination, which does not contradict the results of other researchers. During the morphological study, we established the following features of the polyps of the body of the uterus in women of reproductive age: the most frequently tested polyps of the body of the uterus, which had the glandular component – in 49 (79.03 %) cases, of which the glandular-cystic structure was found in 22 (35.48 %) of patients, the glandular-fibrous structure was in 27 (43.55 %) patients, approximately the same values were found in fibrous polyps of the body of the uterus – 8 (12.90 %) of women and micropolymers of endometrium – in 5 (8.06 %) cases respectively. We found that in all groups of patients with polyps in the body of the uterus, there were signs of non-atypical hyperplasia of the endometrium. It should be noted that, according to literature, endometrial polyps larger than 15 mm were associated with hyperplasia. The above data is an important indication that the unidirectional determination of the positive expression of the CD138 inflammatory marker, both in the tissue of the polyp of the uterus and in the endometrial tissue, indicates the unity of the inflammatory factor in the pathogenesis of hyperproliferative processes and proves the significant role of the inflammatory process in the development of its pathological conditions and justifies the necessity take into account this fact in approaches to the tactics of patient management. Conclusions. The results of the conducted morphological and immunohistochemical research indicate that the basis of the formation of polyps of the body of the uterus is the inflammatory process, which is confirmed morphologically with the presence of chronic endometritis and a positive reaction to CD138. The study of pathogenetic mechanisms for the formation of endometrial pathology is a key factor in the development of methods for correction of these pathological processes, which thus allows to increase the efficiency of treatment and preserve reproductive health.
