A gap exists in understanding organizational career ladders for IT professionals. This gap is especially pronounced in organizations externally sourcing IT related activities to vendors, given that technical positions often feed the pipeline to mid-level roles. Based on prior research and qualitative discussions with key informants, this paper discusses the skills necessary for mid-level roles and proposes individual differences in social skills / traits for several key positions (project manager, senior system analyst, and relationship manager). Abstract:
AbstractSince the mid-1970s, the high plateaus of eastern Morocco have experienced proven trends of climate change (CC) such as a significant decrease in rainfall amounts and an increase in the droughts’ frequency. Consequently, the CC threatens the sustainability of this pastoral ecosystem and negatively affects the breeding of small ruminants, the main local-level livelihood, which becomes more vulnerable due to its high dependence on climatic conditions. This chapter aims to analyze breeders’ adaptation practices by taking into account their social stratification based on the size of the sheep flock in possession. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, Kruskal-Wallis and Mann-Whitney tests to examine the differences in the adoption’ frequency of CC adaptation measures according breeders’ classes and Chi-square independence test to identify the factors explaining these observed differences. The analysis of local adaptation practices reveals that they are endogenous but above all curative, aiming at a short-term logic and have a low to medium relevance compared to the specific objective of adaptation to CC. In addition, there are significant differences in the frequency of adoption of CC adaptation strategies (chi-square value = 8.1112, p = 0.017, df = 2) within categories of breeders, in particular between small and larger breeders (U statistic = 58.000, p = 0.008). The significant factors explaining these differences are socioeconomic (age, household size, equipment, training, and membership of a basic professional organization). It is therefore recommended to target small breeders as a priority and to set up support measures (equipment, training, funding, organization of breeders).

Chapter Six is intended for advanced musicians, from college students up to professionals, as well as professors who teach at the college level. For professionals, constant travel and the stress of performance along with long periods of practice without rest can lower the immune system, cause fatigue, and impede performance. These unhealthy behaviors put them at great risk for the development of injury and stress-related disorders. This chapter includes postures to lower the risk of developing an overuse injury, including stretches for mid-practice breaks. It also contains a thirty-minute “heart and hip opener” sequence that might be used on a regular basis before performance, as well as an hour-long sequence to boost confidence. Perhaps the most useful section of this chapter features three fifteen-minute pre-performance routines that combine yoga and breathing; videos of these routines can be found on the companion website.

Abstract:
This chapter looks at how, once the GOP made its decision (Trump for president), a horrified team of the party's political professionals—who were eager to put their skills to work on behalf of a client they could believe in—led a frantic and flailing search to find a statesman willing to launch an independent run for the presidency. After soliciting some of the Republican Party's senior statesmen to take on the job of providing an alternative to Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton, the party's political professionals simply took on the job themselves. Joel Searby, a mid-level political consultant based in Florida, and William Kristol were at the center of the effort to run a “Real Republican” against Trump. Having failed to stop their party from nominating Donald Trump, or the country from electing him, the network of Never Trump operatives has been reduced to keeping the flame of resistance alive, in the hope that the party will one day come to its senses. Indeed, Kristol launched a number of initiatives explicitly designed to carry on the Never Trump crusade.

Abstract:
The primary sources for a historical overview of secondary-level musical education in Hungary are publications on school histories, yearbooks, and the work of outstanding teachers. An overview of theoretical subjects is made far more difficult, however, by the fact that both the name and content of these subjects have undergone considerable change over time. It was only in the mid-20th century when secondary-level musical education became independent from an earlier institutional form, the music school (Zenede in Hungarian), which taught a far wider range of age groups, lasted for 10-11 years, and characterised earlier music education for decades. Music schools, which offered, among others, secondary-level musical training, had existed since the second half of the 19th century. This paper is part of a more comprehensive methodological work designed to bring to light the historical teaching of music theory in Hungarian musical training with regard to its roots, curricula, handbooks, and teaching practices up to the mid-20th century, when the system of secondary schools specialising in music education was established. Abstract:
The thrilling biblical saga of Sodom and Gomorrah leaves a deep impression on the spirit of its readers, especially the young. Basic ethical concepts such as right and wrong were dramatically portrayed by that simple and cruel, yet humane, story. Memories of even more ancient disastrous geological events apparently were interwoven into the saga. A geologist cannot remain indifferent when investigating the Dead Sea region and observing stratigraphical and structural evidence of past and continuing similar events. Forceful dynamics indicated by vertically tilted beds of rocksalt layers that have penetrated upward through the ground and by later processes that have shaped some beds into pillars trigger association with the ancient story. Such features are abundant and clearly recognizable along the foot of the diapiric structure of Mount Sedom (Arabic Jebel Usdum). A gas blowout during the drilling of a water well near the Amazyahu fault in 1957 only by good luck failed to produce a gush of fire and smoke. Such an event could have happened in ancient times as a natural result of faulting. Knowledge of the regional geological background permits translation of the biblical descriptions into scientific terms, which suggests that the sagas of Sodom, Gomorrah, and Jericho described real events that occurred during ancient times before much was known about geology. Thirty-five years of the authors' professional experience in the Dead Sea region encompasses many geological aspects of the basin: deep and shallow stratigraphy, structural history, seismology, sedimentological processes, and the physical and chemical properties of the water. Archaeological studies in the region are reviewed. Although most of these studies are applicable to exploration for oil and gas or extraction of salts from brines, their results illuminate the role of changing paleogeography and paleolimnology on human environments. Climate changes and lake-level fluctuations have occurred since Mid-Pleistocene, especially during the past 50,000 years. Studies of sediments from shallow core holes delimit coastal areas that when exposed by drops in the level of the Dead Sea, quickly developed soils that could be used for agriculture.
