Abstract:
Let $A$ and $B$ be complex square matrices. Some inequalities between $\mid A \mid + \mid B \mid$ and $\mid A^{*} \mid + \mid B^{*} \mid$ are established. Applications of these inequalities are also given. For example, in the Frobenius norm, $$ \parallel\, A+B \,\parallel_{F} \leq \sqrt[4]{2} \parallel \mid A\mid + \mid B\mid \, \parallel_{F}. $$

Abstract:
ABSTRACT Objective: To understand the perception of the multiprofessional health care team regarding the inclusion of fathers in the care of preterm infants who are in Intensive Care Units (ICUs). Methods: This is a descriptive study with a qualitative approach, using a semi-structured interview with 12 health care professionals of a neonatal ICU, from February to July 2017. The data were analyzed according to the Discourse of the Collective Subject. Results: Seven main ideas (MI) emerged from the text analysis, which were grouped into two themes: 1) the role of the father according to the multiprofessional health care team views (MI1: parent provider, MI2: shared care, MI3: supportive father); 2) perception of the father caring for the hospitalized preterm infant (MI4: father does not change diapers; MI5: father conquering new spaces; MI6: strengthening the bonding; MI7: father providing maternal security. Conclusions: The results of this study point out to the importance of including the father figure in the humanized care of preterm infants. Professional health care team should be more aware of fathers’ importance in the care of hospitalized preterm infants.

Abstract:
A trial was carried out to investigate the effect of limited water supply on leaf area duration (LAD), relative growth rate (RGR), crop growth rate (CGR), and above-ground biomass (AB) of spring maize. The results indicated that the LAD was significantly (p<0.05) increased by 10.6%, 15.4%, 16.9%, 19.3%, 13.4% and 17.0%,12.2%, 19.7%, 18.4%, 20.9% in MI1, MI3, MI4, MI5, CK than MI2 during both 12-leaf stage to heading and heading to silking. There was no significant difference (p>0.05) in RGR among all the treatments and check during 6-leaf to 12-leaf stage and silking to middle grain filling, but significant difference occurred during other measured stages. Also, significant difference was found in CGR among some treatments and check during all the measured growth stages. The maximum AB of maize was maintained in CK with 23.0 t ha-1, significantly improved by 16.2%, 16.2%, 22.3% and 41.1%, 35.3% respectively than in MI1, MI4, MI5 and MI2, MI3, and the minimum AB was recorded in MI2 with 16.3 t ha-1.

Abstract:
The objective of this study was to assess the frequency of micrometastatic disease (MID) in pelvic lymph nodes (PLNs) in carcinoma of the uterine cervix (CUC) and to determine the risk of recurrence. The PLNs from 289 patients with CUC (IB and IIA) were studied. Each PLN was assessed via immunohistochemistry using a single histologic section (AE1/AE3). Metastatic deposits were measured and the disease status was classified into three groups: 1) absence of metastatic disease (MOD); 2) MID, one or more metastatic PLN with only isolated tumor cells and/or micrometastases (up to 2 mm); and 3) macrometastatic disease (MAD), presence of one or more metastatic PLN with macrometastases (more than 2 mm). Eleven patients (3.8%) were classified as having MID and 37 (12.8%) as having MAD. The 5-year disease-free survival (DFS) rates for MOD, MAD, and MID were 88.7%, 80.4%, and 50.0%, respectively (P < 0.001). The Cox proportional hazards model showed that MID was an independent variable for recurrence when adjusted for MAD, depth of tumor invasion, severity of inflammatory reaction, and use of adjuvant radiotherapy. We conclude that the frequency of MID in PLN was low. However, patients with MID presented a high risk of recurrence and reduced DFS.

Abstract:
The article analyzes the operation of one of the movements of the late Protestantism, Seventh-day Adventist community in Transcarpathia, in terms of anti-religious policies of Nikita Khrushchev (1953–1964). Additionally, it clarifies the main aspects of the relationship between Adventist communities and the Soviet authorities. It shows that there were 10 registered communities and 8 unregistered groups in the study period in Transcarpathia. This research includes a wide range of sources from the state and church archives. Moreover, it contains a survey of believers of this denomination. Critical analysis of these sources in combination with modern research on the topic made it possible to reveal new aspects of the past of the Adventist community in Transcarpathia, to clarify statistics, to personalize the composition of church ministers as well as some of its members. With Khrushchev’s coming to power, the Adventist community in the region, like all denominations in the USSR, felt a significant deterioration in the religious situation. The negative attitude of some part of society and the authorities to such a policy influenced the suspension of its active phase and contributed to a certain facilitation and normalization of religious life, which was observed in the mid-1950s. Later Adventist communities experienced crises related to the liquidation of the All-Union Seventh-day Adventist Spiritual Center and the internal division of the community due to government interference in its activity. In the development of the Adventist community in Transcarpathia, it was possible to highlight some of its features, which allowed to save the community from significant power influences and destruction. These include the deep historical religiosity of the local population, their cultural and historical tradition as well as mentality. The combination of the above-mentioned factors forced the authorities to act quite cautiously in the area of religious restrictions. During that period the Transcarpathian Adventist community managed to overcome the negative occurrences and slowly develop, maintaining internal and doctrinal unity in balancing relations with the state.

Abstract:
It is important for clinicians and researchers to understand the effects of treatments on their patients, both at an individual and group level. In clinical studies, treatment effects are often reported as a change in the outcome measure supported by a measure of variability; for example, the mean change with 95% confidence intervals and a probability ( p) value to indicate the level of statistical significance. However, a statistically significant change may not indicate a clinically meaningful or important change for clinicians or patients to interpret. The minimum clinically important difference (MCID) or minimally important difference (MID) has therefore been developed to add clinical relevance or patient experience to the reporting of an outcome measure. In this article, we consider the concept of the MID using the example of practical outcome measures in patients with CRD. We describe the various ways in which an MID can be calculated via anchor- and distribution-based methods, looking at practical examples and considering the importance of understanding how an MID was derived when seeking to apply it to a particular situation. The terms MID and MCID are challenging and often used interchangeably. However, we propose all MIDs are described as such, but they could be qualified by a suffix: MIDS (MID – Statistical), MID-C (MID – Clinical outcome), MID-P (MID – Patient determined). However, this type of classification would only work if accepted and adopted. In the meantime, we advise clinicians and researchers to use an MID where possible to aid their interpretation of functional outcome measures and effects of interventions, to add meaning above statistical significance alone.
