Abstract:
The discourse of the Bible plays a prominent role in shaping the narrative of Russian literature in the Middle Eastern context during the turn of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. This paper focuses on the Biblical discourse being formed within the Middle Eastern prose of S. S. Kondurushkin from the 1900s to the early 1910s. It is the time spent by the writer in the Middle East that motivated him to capture the essence of daily life in the region through a series of stories published in “Russkoe Bogatstvo” magazine. The Biblical discourse acquires its own artistic specificity in the work

One of the most famous works of aljamiado literature (literature in Spanish in Arabic script) is the Poem of Yusuf (“Poema de Yúçuf” in Spanish). The poem was written by an anonymous Morisco poet at the end of the XIII – the beginning of the XIV centuries. The poem is based on the most common plot among the Moriscos – the twelfth sūrah of the Qur'an. The poem includes a scene of lament at the grave, which is not found either in the Qur'an or the Old Testament. Researchers of the middle nineteenth century considered the scene original. However, later it was defined that the scene had appeared d

The challenge to classicists to read Josephus ‘as literature’ is an awkward one, because it throws into relief the crooked, appropriative practices we undertake in the name of literary criticism. If Josephus' works are to be seen as ‘literature’—a category closely associated with specifically Hellenic literary ideals, in much of the ancient world as well as the modern academy—then we are also avoiding looking at them as documents of early Jewish cultural history or belief. ‘Literature’ is far from a neutral category.Josephus would, however, have probably approved, at any rate up to a point. Background: A unicornuate uterus with a rudimentary horn is a rare Mullerian anomaly with few cases reported in the literature. The symptoms vary depending on the functionality of the endometrial cavity and the presence of an obstruction. Adenomyosis is a disease defined as areas of endometrial glands and stroma present within the myometrium. Reports describing adenomyosis in relation to the Mullerian anomalies are scarce. Case Report: We present a 20-year-old middle eastern woman admitted for chronic pelvic pain and abdominal distension. Pelvic ultrasound revealed a unicornuate uterus with an

The protracted Arab-Israeli conflict, characterized by socio-political dynamics, has endured for over fifty years, pitting the Palestinian and Israeli factions against each other. The issue in question possesses historical origins, since it can be traced back to the relationship between two brothers, Ishmael and Isaac, who share a common paternal lineage. The figure of the son of Abraham being sacrificed, as interpreted in Genesis 22 and QS. Al-Saffat 99-113, is a subject of debate among both Jews and Muslims. However, both scholars include triconchal churches in the typological group of ‘cruciform basilicas’ or treat them together with the churches which have three apses with spaces between them placed along the nave. Stand-up is a global phenomenon. It is Australia’s most significant form of advocatorial theatre and a major platform for challenging stigma and prejudice. In the twenty-first century, Australian stand-up is transforming into a more culturally diverse form and extending the spectrum of material addressing human rights. Since the 1980s Australian stand-up routines have moved beyond the old colonial targets of England and America, and Indigenous comics such as Kevin Kopinyeri, Andy Saunders, and Shiralee Hood have gained an established following. The thesis is an examination of the wisdom literature preserved in the book of Proverbs, and of evidence pertinent to the nature and historical setting of this material. The first section examines the arrangement of sayings in the sentence literature, reviews the comparative Near Eastern material and its significance for the exegesis of Proverbs, and discusses the claims that early wisdom was secular, rejecting them. The second section concentrates upon the setting of the literature, with studies of 'wisdom' and 'wise men' in the Old Testament, the internal evidence for associating Proverbs wi
