Aphids (Hemiptera: Aphididae) of midfield thickets in an agricultural landscape The occurrence and structure of associations and communities of aphids (Hemiptera: Aphididae) in different types of midfield thickets (boundaries, bushes and "forest islands") characteristic of the Lower Vistula River Valley region are described. The study shows that midfield thickets in an agricultural environment are more attractive to aphids than those in a landscape park. It indicates that aphids choose sites with a superior availability and quantity of food and where midfield thickets border a large area of fi

Traditional methods for evaluating soccer midfielders often rely on subjective judgment, which fails to comprehensively reflect players’ multidimensional performance. This study constructs a systematic, data-driven evaluation model for midfield players using Principal Component Analysis (PCA) and Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP), providing a scientific and quantitative approach to player selection and training. The model integrates six primary dimensions: performance indicators (weight 0.4269), psychological factors (weight 0.2050), physical fitness (weight 0.1738), technical skills (weight 0.

In this research, we analyzed the pass accuracy (PA) of center-back (CB), wing-back (WB), center-midfield (CM), wing-midfield (WM) and center-forward (CF) players, and the points of Turkish Super League (TSL) 2020-2021 season. Pearson Correlation Test was used for statistical analysis and confidence interval was settled as 99% (p < 0.01). The results showed that the PA average of CB and CM players was highly related to the points obtained at the end of the season. The passing accuracy of the teams finishing the league in the best places was above 80%, and it was lower in those teams with le

SUMMARYSix experiments were carried out over 2 years (1985 and 1986) in commercial spring barley crops on calcareous soils in Hampshire. Herbicides increased grain yield by 0·05–1·21 t/ha, and fungicides by 0·01–0·68 t/ha. Herbicide use affected each of the yield components ears/plant, grains/ear, 1000-grain weight and harvest index in one or more cases but the effects were not consistent between experiments or consistently related to yield increases. Fungicide use had little effect on yield components other than 1000-grain weight, which was significantly increased in all experiments. There we

Abstract Introduction. The aims of the present study were to determine the activity profiles of a large sample of Polish Premier League soccer players during elite-standard soccer matches depending on their position on the pitch and the intensity range of physical activity. Material and methods. The study sample comprised 1,178 players in 5 outfield positions: external defenders (ED, n = 289), central defenders (CD, n = 307), central midfield players (CM, n = 327), external midfield players (EM, n = 152), and forwards (F, n = 103). Altogether, 81 Polish League games held during four domestic s
