Abstract:
Dirac equation is solved for Mie-type potential. The energy spectra and the corresponding wave functions are investigated with pseudospin and spin symmetry. The Nikiforov–Uvarov method is used to obtain an analytical solution of the Dirac equation and closed forms of energy eigenvalues are obtained for any spin-orbit coupling term κ. We also present some numerical results of Dirac particles for the well-known Kratzer–Fues and modified Kratzer potentials which are Mie-type potential.

By using the generalized parametric Nikiforov-Uvarov (NU) method, we have obtained the approximate analytical solutions of the radial Schrödinger equation for a perturbed Yukawa potential. The energy eigenvalues and corresponding eigenfunctions are calculated in closed forms. Some numerical results are presented and compared with the standard Yukawa potential. Further, we found the energy levels of the familiar Mie-type potential when the screening parameter of the perturbed Yukawa potential goes to zero, and finally, standard Yukawa and Coulomb potentials are discussed.

Abstract:
Chiral metamaterials with asymmetric transmission can be applied as polarization-controlled devices. Here, a Mie-based dielectric metamaterial with a spacer exhibiting asymmetric transmission of linearly polarized waves at microwave frequencies was designed and demonstrated numerically. The unidirectional characteristic is attributed to the chirality of the metamolecule and the mutual excitation of the Mie resonances. Field distributions are simulated to investigate the underlying physical mechanism. Fano-type resonances emerge near the Mie resonances of the constituents and come from the destructive interference inside the structure. The near-field coupling further contributes to the asymmetric transmission. The influences of the lattice constant and the spacer thickness on the asymmetric characteristics were also analyzed by parameter sweeps. The proposed Mie-based metamaterial is of a simple structure, and it has the potential for applications in dielectric metadevices, such as high-performance polarization rotators.

Abstract:
Recently, the information theory of quantum-mechanical systems has aroused the interest of many theoretical physicists. This is due to the fact that it provides a deeper insight into the internal structure of the system. Also, it is the strongest support of the modern quantum computation and information, which is a basic theory for numerous technological developments. This study reports the solution of Schrödinger equation with the ring-shaped Mie-type potential. The rotational-vibrational spectroscopic study of some few selected diatomic molecules are given. The probability distribution density of the system which gives the probability density for observing the electron in the state characterized by the quantum numbers (n, l, m) in the ring-shaped Mie-type potential is obtained. Finally, the analysis for this distribution via a complementary information measures of a probability distribution known as the Fisher's information have been presented.

Abstract:
Schrödinger equation was proposed in theoretical physics to provide information and the behavior of a system of particles. The Schrödinger equation was recently solved for a combination of different potentials using different traditional methodologies. The studies do not consider the effect of a barrier between the potentials. In reality, the barrier between the potentials has an effect on the energy eigenvalues. In the present work, a Kratzer-Mie-type potential, a combination of Kratzer and Mie-type-constant potentials, was proposed as the interacting potential. The solutions of the radial Schrödinger equation was obtained in the presence of the combined potentials by considering a barrier between the potentials. The energy equation and the corresponding wave functions were explicitly calculated. The calculations were performed by using the methodology of supersymmetric quantum mechanics. This method involves the proposition of superpotential function as a solution to its Riccati differential equation. Numerical results were generated for some diatomic molecules using the energy equation and the diatomic model parameters. Some expectation values for the combined potential were calculated using Hellmann Feynman Theorem, and the effect of the barrier on the expectation values were numerically studied. It was observed that when a particle moves from the lower end to a higher end of a barrier, it absorbs energy from the system for some time. This same behavior was also noted when the particle penetrates through a barrier. Thus, its vibration will only depend on the initial energy, which is absorbed. It was equally seen that as the width of the barrier becomes larger than the height, the energy of the system decreases drastically.

Abstract:
The Dirac equation is solved exactly under the condition of spin symmetry for a spin 1=2 particle in the field of Mie-type potential and a Coulomb-like tensor interaction via the Laplace transform approach (LTA). The Dirac bound state energy equation and the corresponding normalized wave functions are obtained in closed forms with any spin-orbit coupling term k. The effects of the tensor interaction and the potential parameters on the bound states are also studied. It is noticed that the tensor interaction removes degeneracy between two states in spin doublets. Some numerical results are given and a few special cases of interest are presented. We have demonstrated that in the nonrelativistic limit, the solutions of the Dirac system converges to that of the Schrödinger system. The nonrelativistic limits of the present solutions are compared with the ones obtained by findings of other methods. Our results are sufficiently accurate for practical purpose.

Abstract:
ABSTRACT Transcription of the major immediate-early (MIE) genes of cytomegaloviruses (CMV) is driven by a strong promoter-enhancer (MIEPE) complex. Transactivator proteins encoded by these MIE genes are essential for productive infection. Accordingly, the MIEPE is a crucial control point, and its regulation by activators and repressors is pertinent to virus replication. Since the MIEPE contains multiple regulatory elements, it was reasonable to assume that specific sequence motifs are irreplaceable for specifying the cell-type tropism and replication pattern. Recent work on murine CMV infectivity (A. Angulo, M. Messerle, U. H. Koszinowski, and P. Ghazal, J. Virol. 72:8502–8509, 1998) has documented the proposed enhancing function of the enhancer in that its resection or its replacement by a nonregulatory stuffer sequence resulted in a significant reduction of infectivity, even though replication competence was maintained by a basal activity of the spared authentic MIE promoter. Notably, full capacity for productive in vitro infection of fibroblasts was restored in recombinant viruses by the human CMV enhancer. Using two-color in situ hybridization with MIEPE-specific polynucleotide probes, we demonstrated that a murine CMV recombinant in which the complete murine CMV MIEPE is replaced by the paralogous human CMV core promoter and enhancer (recombinant virus mCMVhMIEPE) retained the potential to replicate in vivo in all tissues relevant to CMV disease. Notably, mCMVhMIEPE was also found to replicate in the liver, a site at which transgenic hCMV MIEPE is silenced. We conclude that productive in vivo infection with murine CMV does not strictly depend on a MIEPE type-specific regulation.

Abstract:
ABSTRACT The region of the human cytomegalovirus (CMV) genome between the UL127 open reading frame and the major immediate-early (MIE) enhancer is referred to as the unique region. DNase I protection analysis with human cell nuclear extracts demonstrated multiple protein binding sites in this region of the viral genome (P. Ghazal, H. Lubon, C. Reynolds-Kohler, L. Hennighausen, and J. A. Nelson, Virology 174:18–25, 1990). However, the function of this region in the context of the viral genome is not known. In wild-type human CMV-infected human fibroblasts, cells permissive for viral replication, there is little to no transcription from UL127. We determined that the unique region prevented transcription from the UL127 promoter but had no effect on the divergent MIE promoter. In transient-transfection assays, the basal level of expression from the UL127 promoter increased significantly when the wild-type unique sequences were mutated. In recombinant viruses with similar mutations in the unique region, expression from the UL127 promoter occurred only after de novo viral protein synthesis, typical of an early viral promoter. A 111-bp deletion-substitution of the unique sequence caused approximately a 20-fold increase in the steady-state level of RNA from the UL127 promoter and a 245-fold increase in the expression of a downstream indicator gene. This viral negative regulatory region was also mutated at approximately 50-bp regions proximal and distal to the UL127 promoter. Although some repressive effects were detected in the distal region, mutations of the region proximal to the UL127 promoter had the most significant effects on transcription. Within the proximal and distal regions, there are potential cis sites for known eucaryotic transcriptional repressor proteins. This region may also bind unknown viral proteins. We propose that the unique region upstream of the UL127 promoter and the MIE enhancer negatively regulates the expression from the UL127 promoter in permissive human fibroblast cells. This region may be a regulatory boundary preventing the effects of the very strong MIE enhancer on this promoter.

AbstractOld and Middle French interrogative sentences of the type sez tu pas? have often been interpreted, erroneously, as providing evidence for the early dropping of ne as in modern je sais pas. The construction occurs most widely in Old and early Middle French with point (occasionally pas, mie) and the particle had a positive or ‘potential’ value (e.g. Quenois le tu point? ‘Do you know him [at all]?’). It was only in late Middle French that, influenced by the increasing use of pas and point in negative clauses, the interrogative clauses in question came to have a negative value.

Abstract:
Mie resonances in high-refractive-index nanoparticles have been known for a long time but only recently have they became actively explored for control of light in nanostructures, ultra-thin optical components, and metasurfaces. Silicon nanoparticles have been widely studied mainly because of well-established fabrication technology, and other high-index materials remain overlooked. Transition metal dichalcogenides, such as tungsten or molybdenum disulfides and diselenides, are known as van der Waals materials because of the type of force holding material layers together. Transition metal dichalcogenides possess large permittivity values in visible and infrared spectral ranges and, being patterned, can support well-defined Mie resonances. In this Communication, we show that a periodic array of tungsten disulfide (WS2) nanoantennae can be considered to be transdimensional lattice and supports different multipole resonances, which can be controlled by the lattice period. We show that lattice resonances are excited in the proximity to Rayleigh anomaly and have different spectral changes in response to variations of one or another orthogonal period. WS2 nanoantennae, their clusters, oligomers, and periodic array have the potential to be used in future nanophotonic devices with efficient light control at the nanoscale.

Abstract:
125 Background: Surgical resection remains piviotal in the management of patients with esophageal cancer. Minimally invasive esophagectomy(MIE) has demonstrated superior operative outcomes compared to the open approaches. Robotic assistance has potential to further improve outcomes, however the long-term follow with this technique is lacking. Methods: Utilizing the National Cancer Database we identified patients who underwent esophagectomy and stratified by approach: open (OE), laparoscopic (LE) or robotic (RE). Baseline comparisons were made for continuous variables using both the Mann-Whitney U and Kruskal Wallis as appropriate. Pearson’s Chi-square test was used to compare categorical variables. Survival analysis was performed using the Kaplan-Meier method comparing survival curves with the log-rank test. All statistical tests were two-sided and α (type I) error < 0.05 was considered significant. Results: We identified 18,869 patients who underwent esophagectomy with a mean age of 65 ± 10 years. There were 10,882 (57.7%) OE, 7,102 (37.6%) LE, and 885 (4.6%) RE. There was no difference in T stage or N stage among groups. Thirty and 90-day mortality was 3.2% and 6.9% and was lower in the MIE groups compared to open 6.2% vs 7.9% p < 0.001. Median length of hospitalization in RE, LE and OE was comparable at 9, 10, and 10 days respectively, p = 0.06. Neoadjuvant therapy was administered in 9,118 (48.3%) patients and was more frequent in the RE 66.0% vs 57.5% OE vs LE 32% p < 0.001. Oncologic quality as indicated by R0 resections and median lymph node harvested were improved in patients undergoing RE: 836 (94.9%) and 16, LE: 5,322 (86.7%) and 4, and OE: 9,631 (91.1%) and 12, p < 0.001. The median and 5-year survival by approach: RE, LE and OE was 54.4 months and 47.7%, 55.6 months and 50.3%, and 47.4 months and 43.7%, p < 0.001. MVA demonstrated that age, location, neoadjuvant therapy, T-stage, N-stage, hospital volume, MIE, and R0 resections were predictive of survival. Conclusions: Short and long-term outcomes with robotic assisted esophagectomy demonstrates low mortality with superior R0 resections and lymph node harvest. Overall survival is benefited in patients undergoing MIE.

Abstract:
Interfacial properties such as interfacial profiles, surface activity, wetting transitions, and interfacial tensions along the three-phase line are described for a Type IIIa binary mixture. The methodological approach combines the square gradient theory coupled to the statistical associating fluid theory for Mie potentials of variable range, and coarse-grained molecular dynamics simulations using the same underlying potential. The water + n-hexane mixture at three-phase equilibrium is chosen as a benchmark test case. The results show that the use of the same molecular representation for both the theory and the simulations provides a complementary picture of the aforementioned mixture, with an excellent agreement between the molecular models and the available experimental data. Interfacial tension calculations are extended to temperatures where experimental data are not available. From these extrapolations, it is possible to infer a first order wetting transition at 347.2 K, where hexane starts to completely wet the water/vapor interface. Similarly, the upper critical end point is estimated at 486.3 K. Both results show a very good agreement to the available experimental information. The concentration profiles confirm the wetting behavior of n-hexane along with a strong positive surface activity that increases with temperature, contrasting the weak positive surface activity of water that decreases with temperature.

Abstract:
Abstract. Brown carbon (BrC) is a special type of organic aerosol (OA), capable of absorbing solar radiation from near-ultraviolet (UV) to visible wavelengths, which may lead to an increased aerosol radiative effect in the atmosphere. While high concentrations of OAs have been observed in the Pearl River Delta (PRD) region of China, the optical properties and corresponding radiative forcing of BrC in the PRD are still not well understood. In this work, we conducted a set of comprehensive measurements of atmospheric particulate matter from 29 November 2014 to 2 January 2015 to investigate aerosol compositions, optical properties, source origins, and radiative forcing effects at a suburban station in Guangzhou. The particle absorption Ångström exponent (AAE) was deduced and utilized to distinguish light absorption by BrC from that by black carbon (BC). The results showed that the average absorption contributions of BrC were 34.1±8.0 % at 370 nm, 23.7±7.3 % at 470 nm, 16.0±6.7 % at 520 nm, 13.0±5.4 % at 590 nm, and 8.7±4.3 % at 660 nm. A sensitivity analysis of the evaluation of the absorption Ångström exponent of BC (AAEBC) was conducted based on the Mie theory calculation assuming that the BC-containing aerosol was mixed with the core–shell and external configurations. The corresponding uncertainty in AAEBC was acquired. We found that variations in the imaginary refractive index (RI) of the BC core can significantly affect the estimation of AAEBC. However, AAEBC was relatively less sensitive to the real part of the RI of the BC core and was least sensitive to the real part of the RI of the non-light-absorbing shell. BrC absorption was closely related to aerosol potassium cation content (K+), a common tracer of biomass burning emissions, which was most likely associated with straw burning in the rural area of the western PRD. Diurnal variation in BrC absorption revealed that primary organic aerosols had a larger BrC absorption capacity than secondary organic aerosols (SOAs). Radiative transfer simulations showed that BrC absorption may cause 2.3±1.8 W m−2 radiative forcing at the top of the atmosphere (TOA) and contribute to 15.8±4.4 % of the aerosol warming effect. A chart was constructed to conveniently assess the BrC radiative forcing efficiency in the studied area with reference to certain aerosol single-scattering albedo (SSA) and BrC absorption contributions at various wavelengths. Evidently, the BrC radiative forcing efficiency was higher at shorter wavelengths.

Abstract:
We investigated the approximate solutions of the Dirac equation for the generalized Yukawa types I and II under the framework of pseudospin and spin symmetry limits. We obtained the energy eigenvalues and the corresponding wave functions using the supersymmetry method. Closed form of the energy eigenvalues are obtained for any spin-orbit coupling term κ. We also discuss the energy eigenvalues of the Dirac equation for some well-known potentials such as Yukawa, inversely quadratic Yukawa, new Yukawa, Mie-type and Coulomb potentials which are the special cases of the generalized Yukawa potentials.

Abstract:
The point canonical transformation (PCT) approach is used to solve the Schrödinger equation for an arbitrary dimension D with a power-law position-dependent effective mass (PDEM) distribution function for the pseudoharmonic and modified Kratzer (Mie-type) diatomic molecular potentials. In mapping the transformed exactly solvable D-dimensional (D ≥ 2) Schrödinger equation with constant mass into the effective mass equation by using a proper transformation, the exact bound state solutions including the energy eigenvalues and corresponding wave functions are derived. The well-known pseudoharmonic and modified Kratzer exact eigenstates of various dimensionality is manifested.

Abstract:
Trash fish have a high protein content while the yellow sweet potato have a high betacarotene content that potential to be processed as noodle for supplementary feeding of toddlers age 2–5 years. This research aimed to analyze organoleptic and nutritional value (protein and betacarotene) of noodle trash fi sh and yellow sweet potato subtitution. Type of this research was true experimental design with completely randomized design with 5 times replication in 3 formulas which were 1 controlled formula (F0) and 2 modifi ed formulas (F1 and F2). Untrained panelists were used 25 mother of toddler. Data was analyzed descriptively and statistically to know the acceptence of noodle using Kruskal Wallis and Mann Whitney test (α=0.05). Kruskal Wallis statistical test indicated that there was significant difference (p<0.05) on the acceptability of aroma and texture of noodle and there was no significant difference (p>0.05) on the acceptability of colour and fl avour. The result of organoleptic test showed that the most preferred noodle by the panelis was formula F2 (37.5 g trash fi sh fl our and 37.5 g yellow sweet potato puree). Nutrient value of formula F2 had 12.28 g of protein and 208.8 mcg of betacaroten. The best composition, acceptability and nutritional value is F2 (37.5 g trash fish and 37.5 g yellow sweet potato puree) and can be used for alternative of supplementary feeding for toddler.
