Abstract:
Tarkastelen artikkelissani miesten identiteettityötä ja affektiivis-diskursiivisia käytäntöjä puheessa, joka käsittelee työpaikoilla tapahtuvaa terveyden edistämistä. Analyysini kohteena on sosioekonomisesti moninainen 17 miehen haastatteluista koostuva aineisto. Analyysi osoittaa terveyden olevan miehille onnellisuusobjekti, jonka saavuttaminen ja ylläpitäminen asemoidaan välttämättömäksi ehdoksi hyvälle työelämälle. Miehet asemoivat itsensä oikeutetuksi työnantajan apuun. Samalla terveyttä edistävät toimet tunnistetaan valtasuhteiksi. Terveystietoisen ja yhteistyökykyisen terveyskansalaisuuden ohella haastateltavat tuottavat mieheyttä, jossa korostuvat työn autonomia ja vastustava suhde työnjohtoon. Epätarkoituksenmukaiseksi tai riittämättömäksi katsottuun terveyden edistämiseen suhtaudutaan vihamielisesti. Mieheys on osa myönteistä itseymmärrystä sekä terveyden edistämiseen mukautuvassa että sitä vastustavassa identiteettityössä.

Abstract:
Aiemmissa tutkimuksissa on saatu ristiriitaisia tuloksia autismikirjon naisten ja miesten tavasta orientoitua sosiaalisiin tilanteisiin, tulkita niitä ja kertoa niistä. Tässä tutkimuksessa tarkastelimme, kuinka autismikirjon naiset (n = 7) ja miehet (n = 24) ja verrokkiryhmän naiset (n = 11) ja miehet (n = 24) kuvaavat sosiopragmaattisesti monimutkaisissa videoleikkeissä esiintyvien henkilöiden tunteita. Tarkastelimme tutkittavien vapaata kerrontaa keskittyen siihen, kuinka paljon tutkittavat tuottivat suoria ja epäsuoria tunnekuvauksia sekä missä määrin he taustoittivat tunnekuvauksiaan. Tutkimuksessa havaittiin verrokkiryhmän naisten ja autismikirjon naisten tuottavan enemmän epäsuoria tunnekuvauksia kuin autismikirjon miesten. Lisäksi autismikirjon miesten, mutta ei naisten, havaittiin taustoittavan tunnekuvauksiaan vähemmän kuin verrokkiryhmän naisten ja verrokkiryhmän miesten. Verrokkiryhmän naiset ja verrokkiryhmän miehet eivät eronneet toisistaan suorien tai epäsuorien tunnekuvausten määrässä tai tunnekuvausten taustoittamisessa. Tulokset kannustavat kiinnittämään huomiota sukupuolierojen tarkasteluun, jotta autismikirjon naisia ja autismikirjon miehiä voidaan sekä tunnistaa paremmin että tukea kohdennetummin.

Abstract:
Tässä tutkimuksessa selvitetään parisuhteettomien miesten ja naisten onnellisuuteen yhteydessä olevia tekijöitä ja tarkastellaan, kuinka onnellisuus kytkeytyy intiimisuhteisiin, yksinäisyyden kokemukseen, liikunnallisuuteen, alkoholin käyttöön, uskonnollisuuteen, terveyteen ja sosioekonomiseen asemaan. Aineistona käytetään FINSEX-kyselyn parisuhteettomien vastauksia (N=944) ja menetelmänä binääristä logistista regressioanalyysiä sekä ristiintaulukointia. Kysymme, eroavatko parisuhteettomat miehet ja naiset toisistaan onnellisuuden ja onnellisuuteen yhteydessä olevien tekijöiden suhteen. Tulokset osoittavat, että parisuhteettomat naiset ovat keskimäärin parisuhteettomia miehiä onnellisempia. Miehet raportoivat naisia useammin, että kumppanin löytäminen sitä kaivattaessa on vaikeaa. Parisuhteettomien naisten onnellisuus on vahvasti yhteydessä vähäiseen koettuun yksinäisyyteen. Parisuhteettomien miesten onnellisuutta puolestaan ennustavat voimakkaimmin vähäiset psykosomaattiset oireet ja liikunnallisuus.

Abstract:
Artikkelissa tarkastellaan tapoja, joilla nuoret miehet suhtautuvat suomalaiseen työelämään ja palkkatyöhön sekä omaan tilanteeseensa suhteessa työhön. Palkkatyö on ollut keskeinen sukupuolen ja vallan harjoittamisen areena, mutta kaikilla miehillä ei ole pääsyä tälle areenalle. Lisäksi kansainvälisessä tutkimuksessa on todettu, että nuorten miesten suhtautuminen työelämään on muuttunut viimeisen 15 vuoden kuluessa työelämän ja talouden muutosten myötä. Tutkimuksen empiirisen aineiston muodostavat 11 nuoren miehen haastattelut. He ovat iältään 19–30-vuotiaita opiskelijoita, työllisiä tai työttömiä. Keskeinen tulos on, että nämä miehet eivät määritä itseään työelämässä ansioitumisella ja johtaviin tai päättäviin asemiin nousemisella. Näin ollen urakehityksellä ei ole ensisijaista merkitystä näille nuorille miehille, eivätkä he ole valmiita omistautumaan työlle tai edes työskentelemään millä ehdoin tahansa. Asiasanat: Sukupuoli, luokka, nuoret miehet, menestyminen, palkkatyö *** The role of K-0 activities in resolving protracted bullying situations Aseman Lapset ry. conducts ‘K-0’ activities in school communities, whereby they try to reach positive solutions to bullying situations with the help of an external employee. This article studies the part played by K-0 activities in handling cases from the social and human capital perspective. The background to the study lies in systems theory, which examines collaboration between multidisciplinary networks. The study used cross-tabulation to analyse connections between the root causes of bullying cases (N=62) and operating models. Of these cases, 35 were studied using content analysis. According to the research results, the root causes in family dynamics were connected to multidisciplinary networks involving social services (p<0.01), healthcare (p<0.05) and mental health services (p<0.01). It was concluded that this constituted multidisciplinary collaboration from an institutional and a networking point of view. There was also a connection between family dynamics and parents’ evenings (p<0.005), with the latter possibly increasing both young people’s and their families’ understanding of bullying. Artikkelissa takastellaan suomalaisten SS-miesten värväysmotivaatiota, rintamakokemusta ja sodan jälkeistä vaikenemista Thomas Kühnen esittämien aseveljeyttä koskevien havaintojen valossa. Haave rintamamiehen kokemuksesta ja aseveljeydestä toi suomalaiset SS-miehet yhteen, aseveljeys kantoi heidät läpi jaettujen vaarojen ja kauhujen, ja aseveljeys sitoi lopuksi SS-miehet yhteen sodan jälkeen suljettuun piiriin, josta ei kunniakoodin mukaan ollut lupa kertoa ulospäin asioita, jotka saattaisivat toiset aseveljet huonoon valoon. Värväysmotivaation yhteydessä tarkasteluun nousee myös ilman isää kasvaneiden SS-meisten huomattava osuus. Isättömät nuorukaiset hakeutuivat SS-joukkoihin, jotka tarjosivat heille miehistä auktoriteettia ja yhteenkuuluvuutta aseveljeyden muodossa.

Abstract:
Työn rajat hämärtyvät monilla tavoin nykytyöelämässä ja erityisesti korona-aikana. Tutkimuksessa tarkastellaan työn rajojen hämärtymistä ajan ja paikan lisäksi tunne-, ystävyys-, uushenkisen sekä esteettisen työn suuntaan. Aineistona oli Suomessa toimivassa konsulttialan yrityksessä toteutettu kysely (N = 87). Työn rajojen hämärtymisen kysymyksiä eri sukupuolilla analysoitiin monimenetelmällisesti intersektionaalisesta näkökulmasta koronapandemian aikana. Naiset raportoivat muun muassa hieman enemmän tunnetyötä, kun taas ystävyystyötä naiset ja miehet tekivät yhtä paljon. Naiset kokivat riittämättömyyttä työystävyyksien ylläpidossa. Uushenkistä työskentelyä eli erilaisia mielentekniikoita harjoitettiin melko tasaisesti, mutta siinä missä miehet totesivat, että eivät käyttäneet mitään tekniikkaa, naiset kokivat tekemättömyydestä huonoa omaatuntoa. Esteettinen työskentely oli muuttunut molemmilla sukupuolilla etätyön myötä mutta naisilla radikaalisti enemmän, ja esteettisen työskentelyn tavat olivat sukupuolittuneet. Tutkimuksen mukaan työn rajojen vetäminen ja hämärtyminen etätyössä ei ole sukupuoletonta, vaan sukupuoli ja elämäntilanne näkyvät monella tapaa asiantuntijoiden kokemuksissa etätyöstä.

Abstract The purpose of the present study was to analyse and describe the health behaviour among the male population in the Kainuu region in Finland, to chart the men's attitudes towards health services and find out how they talked about their health behaviour. The objective was to produce new, cultural information about how to develope health services, and in addition to shed light into the health behaviour among the men living in the Kainuu region. The research material consisted of 20 thematic biographical interviews. The interviewees were 36–56-year-old men who were born, and currently living in the Kainuu region. In the study, the biographical method was applied, and the interviewees were asked to tell their life story from a health perspective. The research material was approached both from a factist perspective and a specimen perspective. The material was analysed in three stages by using material-based content analysis, thematic content analysis, and rhetorical analysis. The framework of the study consisted of a cultural perspective. Thus, when doing the analysis, it was essential to find the different meanings the men had given to health in their life. According to the results, the value of health did not guide the health behaviour of the interviewed men until adulthood, and health services were not used willingly. There were matters in the course of the lives of these men as well as in their growth environment that made it easier to understand their health behaviour and attitudes towards health services. Attitudes passed on from generation to generation and increased morbidity in the immediate environment were among the things that contributed to the men's behaviour and attitudes. The men also used rhetorical ways to justify their own health behaviour. The most used rhetorical strategies were the absence of agency and the use of extreme expressions. It is possible to obtain in-depth information about health behaviour with the help of biographical study that takes cultural issues into consideration. The information gathered in the present study can be used when developing and directing health services in the Kainuu region as well as when developing the national health service system in Finland. The methodological solutions used in the present study can also be applied to other studies in the field of health sciences
Tiivistelmä Tutkimuksen tarkoituksena oli analysoida ja kuvata kainuulaisten miesten terveyskäyttäytymistä, terveyspalveluihin suhtautumista ja terveyskäyttäytymiseen liittyvää puhetta. Tavoitteena oli tuottaa uutta, kulttuurista tietoa terveyspalvelujen kehittämiseen ja lisäksi tehdä ymmärrettäväksi kainuulaisten miesten terveyskäyttäytymistä. Tutkimusaineisto muodostui 20 temaattisesta elämäkertahaastattelusta. Haastateltavat olivat syntyperäisiä kainuulaisia ja Kainuussa asuvia 36–56-vuotiaita miehiä. Tutkimuksessa sovellettiin elämäkertametodia siten, että haastateltavat kertoivat elämäntarinansa terveyden teemasta lähtien. Tutkimusaineistoa lähestyttiin sekä faktanäkökulmasta että näytenäkökulmasta. Aineisto analysoitiin kolmivaiheisesti: aineistolähtöisellä analyysillä, teemoihin pohjautuvalla analyysillä ja retorisella analyysillä. Tutkimuksen viitekehys muodostui kulttuurisuudesta. Näin ollen, aineiston analyysissä oli olennaista löytää kainuulaisten miesten terveyskäyttäytymiseen liittämiään kulttuurisia merkityksiä. Tulosten mukaan terveyden arvo ohjaa kainuulaisten miesten terveyskäyttäytymistä vasta aikuisiässä eikä terveyspalveluja käytetä mielellään. Kainuulaisten miesten elämänkulusta ja kasvuympäristöstä löytyi asioita, joiden avulla miesten terveyskäyttäytymistä ja terveyspalveluihin suhtautumista voidaan ymmärtää. Näitä ovat esimerkiksi sukupolvelta toiselle periytyneet asenteet ja lähiympäristön runsas sairastavuus. Miesten puheesta oli myös löydettävissä retorisia keinoja, joilla he argumentoivat omaa terveyskäyttäytymistään. Retorisista keinoista yleisimmin käytettyjä olivat toimijuuden kadottaminen ja ääri-ilmaisujen käyttäminen. Kulttuurisuuden huomioivan elämäkertatutkimuksen avulla on mahdollista saada syvällistä tietoa terveyskäyttäytymisestä. Tutkimuksessa tuotettua tietoa voidaan hyödyntää terveyspalvelujen laadun kehittämisessä ja yksilöllisessä suuntaamisessa sekä Kainuussa että laajemmin suomalaista terveyspalvelujärjestelmää kehitettäessä. Tutkimuksen metodologisia ratkaisuja voidaan soveltaa myös muissa terveystieteellisissä tutkimuksissa

Abstract:
Abstract The prevalence of overweight and obesity among adolescents has increased worldwide at the population-level, reflecting inactive lifestyle and excessive energy intake. The comorbidities of obesity, e.g. impaired glucose tolerance and high blood pressure increase the risk for cardiovascular diseases. The first manifestation of cardiovascular diseases can be detected in young adulthood, and prevention should be focused to those at highest risk. This study was aimed to evaluate the changes in body weight and body composition, physical fitness and cardiometabolic risk factors, associated with physical exercise during military service. Furthermore, this study investigated the association of antenatal and lifestyle factors with the body composition and physical fitness among young men. The material of this study consisted of 1046 men (mean age 19.2 years) who began their compulsory military service in the Sodankylä Jaeger Brigade in 2005. The conscripts’ cardiometabolic risk factors, body weight, body composition, fitness, and lifestyle habits were evaluated at baseline and after 6–12 months military service. The data on the participants’ mothers’ antenatal and participants’ childhood period was available for 508 offsprings, who belonged to the 1986 Northern Finland Birth Cohort. During the military service the prevalence of metabolic syndrome decreased in the overall cohort from 6.1% to 3.6%, and the reduction was present among overweight and obese conscripts. The reduction in metabolic syndrome was associated with the reduction in waist circumference, weight loss and improvement in muscle fitness. Some lifestyle factors e.g. maternal smoking during pregnancy and conscripts’ smoking, alcohol consumption and binge drinking were associated with the conscripts’ body composition and fitness test results. Military service was especially beneficial for those reporting weekly binge drinking, who showed the greatest reduction in body weight and fat, and improvements in physical fitness and lifestyle habits. This study shows that unbeneficial lifestyle habits can be seen as detrimental to the body composition and fitness levels of young men. Furthermore, the physical exercise is in important role for reducing the metabolic syndrome, already present in young men. Maternal smoking during pregnancy was associated with reduced aerobic fitness in the subjects, underlining its long-standing consequences on offspring’s health
Tiivistelmä Väestötutkimusten perusteella nuorten ylipaino ja lihavuus ovat yleistyneet, liittyen inaktiiviseen elämäntapaan ja liialliseen energiansaantiin. Lihavuuden liitännäissairaudet, kuten heikentynyt sokerinsieto ja kohonnut verenpaine lisäävät riskiä sydän- ja verisuonisairauksille. Sydän- ja verisuonisairauksien ensimmäiset ilmentymät voidaan havaita nuorella aikuisiällä ja sairauden ehkäisystrategiat tulisi kohdentaa riskiryhmiin. Tässä tutkimuksessa arvioitiin varusmiespalvelukseen liittyvän liikunnan aikaansaamia muutoksia kehonpainossa, kehonkoostumuksessa, fyysisessä kunnossa sekä sydän- ja verisuonisairauksien riskitekijöissä. Lisäksi tutkimus arvioi äidin raskausaikaan liittyvien tekijöiden ja elintapojen yhteyttä nuorten miesten kehonkoostumukseen ja fyysiseen kuntoon. Tutkimusaineisto koostui 1046 miehestä (keski-ikä 19.2 vuotta), jotka astuivat varusmiespalvelukseen Sodankylän Jääkäriprikaatissa vuonna 2005. Varusmiesten sydän- ja verisuonisairauksien riskitekijät, kehonpaino, kehonkoostumus, kunto ja elintavat arvioitiin palveluksen alussa ja lopussa (seuranta-aika 6–12 kk). Varusmiesten äitien raskaudenaikaiset ja varusmiesten varhaislapsuuden tiedot olivat käytettävissä 508:lta tutkittavalta, jotka kuuluivat Pohjois-Suomen syntymäkohorttiin 1986. Varusmiespalveluksen aikana metabolisen oireyhtymän vallitsevuus väheni koko aineistossa 6.1 %:sta 3.6 %:iin, ja väheneminen oli havaittavissa ylipainoisten ja lihavien joukossa. Metabolisen oireyhtymän väheneminen oli yhteydessä vyötärönympäryksen ja painon laskuun sekä lihaskunnon paranemiseen. Elintavat, kuten äidin raskaudenaikainen tupakointi ja varusmiehen ruokavalio, tupakointi, alkoholin kulutus ja humalahakuinen juominen olivat yhteydessä varusmiehen kehonkoostumukseen ja fyysiseen kuntoon. Varusmiespalveluksesta hyötyivät erityisesti ne, jotka raportoivat viikoittaista humalahakuista juomista; heillä havaittiin myönteisiä muutoksia kehonkoostumuksessa, fyysisessä kunnossa ja elintavoissa. Tämän tutkimuksen perusteella voidaan myös todeta, että äidin raskaudenaikainen tupakointi vaikuttaa jälkeläisen heikompaan aerobiseen kuntoon. Tutkimus osoittaa epäterveellisten elämäntapojen vaikutukset epäedulliseen kehonkoostumukseen ja heikompaan fyysiseen kuntoon nuorilla miehillä. Abstract:
Abstract This study increases the understanding of young men’s everyday health information literacy and behaviour in relation to their health behaviour, physical health, and socio-demographic characteristics. The conceptual framework of the study builds upon theories of information behaviour, practices and literacy, and health behaviour change. The empirical data were collected with questionnaires (n = 3,293) and physiological measurements (n = 3,063) in 2010 to 2013 at the Finnish Defence Forces’ call-ups, where a population-based sample of young Finnish men could be reached. Everyday health information literacy was studied using a previously developed screening tool, and with a focus on its relationship with health behaviour and physical fitness. Information behaviour was investigated in the context of physical activity, and in relation to men’s readiness to change exercise behaviour according to the Transtheoretical Model. Statistical analyses of the data include multivariate regression analyses, and a critical realist approach was adopted in interpreting the results. The results show that general upper secondary education and higher socio-economic position of a parent increase the likelihood of good health information literacy. Health information literacy is positively associated with health-promoting behaviour and health independent of socio-economic position; confidence in one’s abilities to find, evaluate and use health information is associated with regular exercise and healthy eating habits, and good physical fitness, for example. In the context of physical activity, the practices used to acquire information are associated with the stage of exercise behaviour change. Men in the maintenance stage seek information most actively. Information avoidance, in turn, is connected to low health information literacy, not to the stage of change. The study provides novel knowledge on healthy young people’s everyday health information literacy and behaviour, and on their relationship. It is among the first to investigate health information behaviour in the stages of behaviour change and health information literacy in connection with objectively measured fitness. It proposes a framework for future studies on the relationship between health information literacy and behaviour, and health information outcomes. The results may be utilised when designing tailored health communications and health information literacy education
Tiivistelmä Tutkimus lisää ymmärrystä siitä, millainen yhteys nuorten miesten arkielämän terveystiedon lukutaidolla ja terveystietokäyttäytymisellä on terveyskäyttäytymiseen, fyysiseen terveyteen ja sosiodemografisiin tekijöihin. Sen käsitteellinen viitekehys rakentuu tietokäyttäytymisen ja -käytäntöjen, terveystiedon lukutaidon sekä terveyskäyttäytymisen muutoksen teorioille. Tutkimuksen aineisto kerättiin kyselyillä (n = 3 293) ja fysiologisilla mittauksilla (n = 3 063) vuosina 2010–2013 Puolustusvoimien Oulun alueen kutsuntatilaisuuksissa, joissa oli mahdollista saavuttaa suomalaisten nuorten miesten väestöpohjainen otos. Terveystiedon lukutaitoa arvioitiin aiemmin kehitetyllä seulontavälineellä sekä suhteessa terveyskäyttäytymiseen ja fyysiseen kuntoon. Terveystietokäyttäytymistä tarkasteltiin liikunnan kontekstissa ja suhteessa transteoreettisen mallin mukaiseen liikuntakäyttäytymisen muutosvalmiuteen. Aineistot analysoitiin tilastollisesti monimuuttujamenetelmin, ja tuloksia tulkittiin kriittisen realismin näkökulmasta. Tulokset osoittavat, että lukiokoulutus ja korkeassa sosioekonomisessa asemassa oleva vanhempi lisäävät hyvän arkielämän terveystiedon lukutaidon todennäköisyyttä. Terveystiedon lukutaito on positiivisesti yhteydessä terveyttä edistäviin elintapoihin ja terveyteen sosioekonomisesta asemasta riippumatta. Luottamus omiin kykyihin löytää, arvioida ja ymmärtää terveystietoa on yhteydessä muun muassa säännölliseen liikuntaan ja terveellisiin syömistottumuksiin sekä hyvään fyysiseen kuntoon. Liikunnan kontekstissa terveystietokäytännöt kytkeytyvät käyttäytymisen muutosvaiheeseen. Aktiivisimmin liikuntatietoa hankkivat liikuntakäyttäytymisen ylläpitovaiheessa olevat. Tiedon välttäminen sen sijaan on yhteydessä alhaiseen terveystiedon lukutaitoon, ei muutosvaiheeseen. Tutkimus tuottaa uutta tietoa nuorten, terveiden ihmisten arkielämän terveystiedon lukutaidosta ja terveystietokäyttäytymisestä sekä niiden suhteesta toisiinsa. Uutta on myös terveystietokäytäntöjen tutkiminen terveyskäyttäytymisen muutosvaiheissa ja terveystiedon lukutaidon tarkastelu suhteessa objektiivisesti mitattuun fyysiseen kuntoon. Tutkimuksessa esitetään viitekehys tuleville tutkimuksille terveystiedon lukutaidon ja tietokäytäntöjen vaikutuksesta terveyteen. Tulokset ovat hyödynnettävissä räätälöidyn terveysviestinnän ja terveystiedon lukutaidon koulutuksen suunnittelussa

Abstract Metabolic syndrome (MetS) is a cluster of obesity-related cardiometabolic risk factors. It predicts the development of cardiovascular disease and type 2 diabetes, which are major public health concerns. Visceral obesity and insulin resistance are the predominant underlying factors of MetS, other diagnostic components being elevated blood pressure, high triglycerides, and low HDL-cholesterol. The most important treatment of MetS is through lifestyle changes. There are limited data concerning the prevalence of MetS among young populations. Furthermore, even though the effects of physical activity on MetS components are well established at an individual basis and in some subpopulations, large population-based data about associations of young men’s fitness and MetS-related cardiometabolic risk factor changes are warranted. In Finland, military service is compulsory for males. In 2005, 1,160 young men (mean age 19.2 years, range 18–28 years) were followed throughout their military service (6–12 months) in the Sodankylä Jaeger Brigade. The military service period includes high amounts of physical exercise, but no dietary restrictions. Physical fitness, anthropometrics, body composition, and cardiometabolic risk factors were assessed at the beginning and at the end of military service. Among the entire study population, the prevalence of MetS was 3.5–6.8 %, depending on the definition used, and increased in parallel with an increasing body mass index. On the average, the military training period resulted in a decrease in body weight and amount of fat tissue, especially visceral fat, and improved physical fitness. Body composition and fitness improvements were more pronounced in overweight and obese service men. Beneficial changes in body composition and related cardiovascular risk factor improvements were associated with increased physical fitness, especially aerobic fitness. This study indicates that an improvement in physical fitness is related to improvements in body fat distribution and cardiovascular health at population level in young men. This is an age when co-morbidities are usually as yet non-existing, but might be most efficiently prevented by lifestyle changes, such as becoming physically active
Tiivistelmä Metabolinen oireyhtymä on tyypin 2 diabeteksen ja valtimosairauksien riskitekijäryväs. Sen osatekijöitä vyötärölihavuuden lisäksi ovat kohonnut verenpaine, insuliiniresistenssi, korkea veren triglyseridipitoisuus ja HDL-kolesterolin pitoisuus. Viime vuosina metabolinen oireyhtymä on yleistynyt lihavuuden lisääntymisen myötä. Lihavuuden ja sen liitännäissairauksien tärkeimpiä hoitokeinoja ovat laihtumiseen tähtäävät elintapamuutokset. Liikunnan tiedetään johtavan edullisiin kehonkoostumusmuutoksiin sekä kardiovaskulaaririskitekijöiden parantumiseen. Laajat väestötason tutkimukset nuorten aikuisten kunnon ja varhaisten valtimosairausriskitekijöitten muutosten välisistä yhteyksistä kuitenkin puuttuvat. Varusmiespalvelus tarjoaa ainutlaatuisen mahdollisuuden tarkastella nuoria miehiä laajassa, lähes valikoitumattomassa väestöotoksessa, sillä Suomessa varusmiespalvelus on pakollinen kaikille miehille. Vuonna 2005 1160 miestä (keski-ikä 19,2 vuotta, vaihteluväli 18–28 vuotta) astui palvelukseen Sodankylän jääkäriprikaatissa. Kehonkoostumus, fyysinen kunto, antropometria sekä veren rasva-arvot mitattiin varusmiespalveluksen (6–12 kk) alussa ja lopussa. Metabolisen oireyhtymän vallitsevuus oli 3,5–6,8 % käytetystä määritelmästä riippuen. Se oli yleisempi korkeimmissa painoindeksiluokissa. Keskimäärin koko aineistossa varusmiesten paino laski, kehon rasvan määrä väheni ja kunto parani palvelusaikana. Edulliset muutokset fyysisessä kunnossa ja kehon koostumuksessa korostuivat ylipainoisilla ja lihavilla varusmiehillä. Nämä muutokset, erityisesti painon ja sisälmysrasvan väheneminen, olivat yhteydessä kestävyyskunnon paranemiseen. Vastaavasti kardiovaskulaaririskitekijöiden edulliset muutokset olivat yhteydessä erityisesti kestävyyskunnon paranemiseen ja vyötärölihavuuden vähenemiseen. Tämän tutkimuksen perusteella voidaan todeta, että nuorten miesten valtimosairauksien riskitekijöiden muutos on yhteydessä fyysisen kunnon nousuun. Nuoret miehet tulee saada lisäämään vapaa-ajan liikuntaa myös siviilielämässä. Keski-iässä yleistyvät valtimosairaudet ja diabetes voisivat olla huomattavissa määrin torjuttavissa vaikuttamalla nuorten miesten liikuntatottumuksiin

Abstract Finnish male teacher has been viewed related to e.g. their low number, suspicions of criminal record and salary policy in the past years' teacher discussion. This educational-historical study examines Finnish male teachers' autobiographies and films on them by using narrative approach. The period in focus is the time of independence. Honest attitude towards life, an attempt to serve and please are reflected in the narratives of male teachers' autobiographies. Views on cooperation and voluntary work are emphasised in the narratives of older generation. Conflicts in working and private life increase in narratives describing the period after the war. All teacher generations mention the valuing of teachers' work but the meaning of valuing decreases towards the time of comprehensive school. Finnish school management has been remembered and investigated in the data based on both idyll and conflict. In so far as films are considered, the prevalence of conflict is significant. A mediated solution is often found for conflicts. Many films criticise school as a collective upbringing and educational community. Negative features of school are transferred to screen by many films. Based on the films, the teaching personnel seem to be divided. One group of teachers lean on to the strong institution in their use of power in educating and teaching whereas the other group of teachers presented by the films seem to understand the meaning of individual teaching and upbringing. Impression based on the watched films is that the values and aims of general school discussion are seen on the screen. At times, films also criticise school values. During the period in focus, model teaching has changed from Christianity-based model towards a pluralistic educator influenced by democracy. If films are studied based on their writers, a group of Finnish film directors seem to have a rather negative view on their male teachers. The role of female writers has also had an effect on the descriptions of males. However, the narratives of autobiographies do not strengthen the message conveyed from film texts, for there is no authority based drive towards teaching nor unreasonable keeping under discipline in teachers' narratives. In this study I investigated male teachers in historical context based on films and autobiographies. The general fading of role model and model teaching of male teachers after the war can be seen in the data. Teacher profession is becoming more and more women's profession in Finland. Current interpretation of equality regulations and salaries that are fallen behind strengthen this development. The meanings and hidden expectations set on male teachers in Finnish educational system are continuously transferred to women. Based on the data, it is possible to see the usefulness of male teacher in school. At the same time, many questionable practices that gender-based authority building can include, are seen. Male teacher in his profession has had to function under a strong obligation and control set by the society and the people using school services. This has often resulted in the forming of divided self concept. Teacher's private and working life have often been controversial
Tiivistelmä Viime vuosien opettajapuheessa suomalaista miesopettajaa on sivuttu muun muassa lukumääräisen vähyyden, rikostaustaepäilyjen ja palkkauspolitiikan yhteydessä. Tämä kasvatushistoriallinen tutkimus tarkastelee narratiivisessa kehyksessä suomalaisten miesopettajien omaelämäkertoja ja heitä esittäviä elokuvia. Tarkasteltava jakso on ollut maan itsenäisyyden aika. Miesopettajien omaelämäkertojen kerronnassa kuvastuvat rehellinen elämänasenne, pyrkimys palvella ja miellyttää. Vanhemmalla sukupolvella korostuvat näkemykset yhteistyöstä ja talkoohengestä. Sodan jälkeistä aikaa esittelevässä kerronnassa kasvavat ristiriidat työpaikoilla ja työn ulkopuolisessa elämässä. Kaikki opettajapolvet mainitsevat opettajan työn arvostuksesta, mutta arvostuksen merkitys vähenee peruskoulua kohden tultaessa. Suomalaista koulunpitoa on muisteltu ja tarkasteltu lähdeaineistossa niin idyllin kuin konfliktin perspektiivistä. Elokuvien osalta konfliktivoittoisuus on merkitsevää. Ristiriidoille löytyy usein soviteltu ratkaisu. Useat elokuvat kritisoivat koulua kollektiivisena kasvatus- ja koulutusyhteisönä. Koululaitoksen negatiiviset kaiut siirtyvät valkokankaalle monien elokuvajaksojen välityksellä. Opettajakunta näyttäisi elokuvien mukaan olevan kaksijakoista. Toiset tukeutuvat kasvattavassa ja opettavassa vallankäytössään vankkaan laitosinstituutioon. Toinen elokuvan näyttämä opettajaryhmä sen sijaan ymmärtää yksilöllisen opetus- ja kasvatustavan merkityksen. Katsotun elokuva-aineiston perusteella jää vaikutelma, että yleisen koulupuheen arvot ja tavoitteet näkyvät valkokankaalla. Välillä elokuva myös kritisoi koulun arvomaailmaa. Tarkasteltavalla ajanjaksolla esikuvallinen opettajuus on muuttunut kristillisyyden sävyttämästä esimerkistä kohti demokratian muovaamaa moniarvoista kasvattajaa. Mikäli elokuvaa tarkastellaan tekijälähtöisesti, on suomalaisen elokuvan ohjaajakunnalla melko negatiivinen näkemys miesopettajistaan. Naiskäsikirjoittajien kynän jälki on myös värittänyt mieskuvauksia. Omaelämäkertojen tekstit sen sijaan eivät elokuvatekstejä vahvista, sillä opettajien kerronnassa ei ole virkaintoista paloa opetustehtäviin eikä oppilaiden perusteetonta kurittamista. Tutkimuksessa tarkastelin miesopettajaa historiallisessa kontekstissa elokuvalähteitten ja omaelämäkertojen mukaan. Miesopettajien roolimalli- ja esikuvaopettajuuden yleinen himmeneminen sodan jälkeen näkyy lähteiden valossa. Opettajan ammatti on Suomessa yhä enenevästi naisten ammatti. Nykyhetken tasa-arvosäädösten tulkinta ja palkkauksen jälkeenjääneisyys varmistavat kehitystä. Merkitykset ja piilo-odotukset, joita miesopettajalle on suomalaisessa koulujärjestelmässä asetettu, siirtyvät enenevästi naiselle. Tutkimuslähteiden valossa on mahdollista nähdä miesopettajan tarpeellisuutta koulussa. Samalla on myös nähtävissä kyseenalaisia käytänteitä, joita sukupuolellinen auktoriteettimuodostus voi pitää sisällään. Miesopettaja ammatissaan on joutunut toimimaan yhteiskunnan ja koulupalveluita kuluttavan väestön vahvan velvoitteen ja kontrollin alaisena. Tämä on vaikuttanut usein kaksijakoisen minäkuvan muovautumiseen. Opettajan siviilielämä ja työelämä ovatkin usein olleet ristiriitaisia

Resumo: A linhagem de Mucor miehei NRRL 3420, que é produtora de renina microbiana, foi submetida a diferentes períodos de exposição à radiação ultravioleta para induzir mutações com o objetivo de se obter urna linhagem altamente produtora da enzima coagulante de leite. Após vários estudos, determinou-se que exposição à radiação durante 101 151 e 201 provocava taxa de mortalidade superior a 99,99% aumentando a probabilidade de se encontrar mutantes entre os sobreviventes. Novecentas colônias foram isoladas e estudadas quanto a produção enzimática comparando-se com a linhagem original não mutada. Foi obtida urna linhagem mutada que apresentou 122% a mais de produtividade enzimática. A enzima foi então produzida por fermentação semi-sólida em meio farelo de trigo: H2O (1:1), purificada e caracterizada corno protease ácida a termoestável e que necessita de íons Ca2+ para sua ação. A enzima bruta foi utilizada no processamento de queijo minas frescal resultando um produto de boa qualidade
Abstract: The strain Mucor miehei NRRL 3420, which is a microbial rennet producer, was exposed to ultraviolet radiation during different time periods to promote its mutation. The objective of this treatment was to obtain a lineage with a high rate of milk clotting enzyme production. After some experiments, 10' 15! and 20' of ultraviolet radiation exposure showed a mortality rate superior of 99,99%, indicating a great chance to find a mutant among the survivors. The enzymatic production was studied comparing 900 isolated colonies with their original lineage. Through such a procedure one mutated strain was obtained which showed an increase of 122% in enzyme production. The enzyme was produced by semi solid fermentation with wheat bran: water (1:1). It was purified and characterized as a thermostable acid protease, which reacted only in the presence of calcium ions. To test the efficiency of the crude enzyme extract, was used a "minas frescal" cheese-processing system. The product exhibited good quality

Thefts are the most prevailed crime in Lithuania as they are common worldwide, they make the biggest part of the crimes, and the increasing number of the crimes is connected to the arising number of the thievery. The thefts in this research work are examined as a separate crime sort. The key attention is paid to the examination of the thefts executed in the city of Klaipeda, the examination period includes the years from 1995 to 2003. The paper work consists of three parts. The first part surveys the conception of the thievery, the state and the level of the thefts, as well as the structure and dynamics of the thievery are disclosed as they are researched in the context of the total delinquency of Lithuania. The general criminological characteristics of the thefts in Klaipeda is researched in the second part of this work; there is looked through the social and demographic peculiarities of the city, the features of the crime situation of Klaipeda city in comparison with the ones in other biggest cities and of Lithuania in whole are overviewed at this part of the work. The thefts executed in the city of Klaipeda are examined comparing the rates of Klaipeda and other cities within Lithuanian with the rates of the whole country. The rates of the thefts performed in the city of Vilnius are emphasized. There are given characteristics of the persons who execute the thievery in the city of Klaipeda. Straipsnyje nagrinėjamos elektromobilių plėtros galimybės Vilniaus mieste. Transporto sektorius yra tiesio-giai susijęs su CO2 emisijomis, kartu ir su klimato kaitos padariniais. Vienas iš būdų, kaip valdyti neigiamą transporto poveikį aplinkai, yra tokios švarios transporto technologijos, kaip elektromobilis, integravimas į kasdienį žmonių gyve-nimą. Tai taps patrauklia ir patogiai naudojama alternatyva vartotojams, naudojantiems automobilius su vidaus degimo varikliais. Vartotojas, įsigijęs tvarią transporto priemonę, turi būti garantuotas, kad bateriją bus galima įkrauti mieste lengvai. Straipsnyje geografinėmis informacinėmis sistemomis sumodeliuotos elektromobilių įkrovimo stotelių vietos, įvertinant esamų įmonių Vilniaus mieste išsidėstymą.

Abstract:
Cities are the backbone of the settlement structure and leaders in local and regional development. To fulfill this important role, they must generate sufficient and sustainable resources to improve the quality of life of their inhabitants and maintain their position in the territory. These resources also include funding. These can be generated in a multi structure. The aim of the paper is to identify indebtedness in urban development. What is the role of debt: "Can Slovakia's regional cities finance sustainable development on the basis of the existing financing model without increasing their total debt?" The study was performed on the basis of 5 indicators by comparative analysis. The results confirmed that the 8 largest/regional cities in Slovakia in the period 2005-2017 after the financial crisis they began to reduce debt and use other resources for development - mainly European grants and extra-budgetary funds (reserve fund). These are resources. which may have their limits in the future

Abstract:
Der gemeinnützige Wohnbau spielt auf dem österreichischen Wohnungsmarkt eine bedeutende Rolle. Rund ein Viertel aller Haushalte lebt in Wohnungen, die entweder von einer gemeinnützigen Bauvereinigung (GBV) vermietet oder als Eigentumswohnung verwaltet werden. GBVs zeichnen sich durch ein besonderes Geschäftsmodell aus, das auf den Prinzipien der Kostendeckung und der revolvierenden Mittel beruht. Indem diese Prinzipien sowohl von der Logik des gewinnorientierten Wohnungsbaus als auch vom öffentlichen Wohnungsbau abweichen, nehmen GBVs eine besondere Rolle als Akteure des Dritten Sektors am österreichischen Wohnungsmarkt ein. In diesem Papier werden die wichtigsten Mechanismen und Grundsätze des gemeinnützigen Wohnbaus beschrieben, einschließlich der Art der Finanzierung, der Festlegung der Mieten, der in die Preiskalkulation einfließenden Komponenten und der Verwendung von revolvierenden Fonds zur Finanzierung des künftigen Baus von leistbaren Wohnungen. Außerdem werden die Auswirkungen des Geschäftsmodells der GBVs auf das Mietniveau erläutert und anhand einer kürzlich durchgeführten Studie die ökonomischen Auswirkungen aufgezeigt.

Das Projekt iENG (Intelligente Energienutzung in der Gebäudewirtschaft) thematisiert die umwelt- und gesellschaftsverträgliche Umsetzung der Energiewende im Gebäudebereich. Es geht der Frage nach, warum insbesondere im Bestand das Umsetzungstempo weit hinter den Erwartungen zurückbleibt und vertieft dabei die Fragestellungen der Informations-vermittlung (Energieberater), der rechtlichen und ökonomischen Rahmenbedingungen (EnEV und Förder-Verfahren) sowie die bislang weitgehend ignorierten Chancen von architektonischer Gestaltung und gebäudekybernetischen Ansätzen. In diesem Beitrag wird versucht, die Sicht der Gebäudenutzer, also insbesondere der Mieter und selbstnutzenden Eigentümer von Wohnungen zu ergründen. Dazu ist es sinnvoll, an der öffentlichen Diskussion der Thematik Gebäudeenergiewende anzuknüpfen, die meistens bei der aktuellen technischen Standardlösung zum Einsparen von Energie im Gebäudebereich anknüpft: den Wärmedämmverbundsystemen. Sie sind sowohl durch große Werbemaßnahmen (Ulrich Wickert: Dämmen lohnt sich) als auch durch die Kriterien für die Vergabe vergünstigter Modernisierungskredite oder Zuschüsse nahezu vorgegeben, um im Wohnungsbestand und bei Neubauten über eine Reduzierung der erforderlichen Heizleistung zu einer Energieeinsparung und zur CO2-Reduzierung beizutragen. Im folgenden Bericht werden ausgehend von der methodischen Anlage des Teilprojektes die Ergebnisse der empirischen Arbeiten dargestellt. Im Verlauf des Projektes haben sich insbesondere bei der Rekrutierung von Teilnehmern für die Fokusgruppen Probleme ergeben, die dargestellt und diskutiert werden sollen (Kap. 2). Aufgrund der Zugangsprobleme zum Feld ist die empirische Basis der nachfolgenden Überlegungen nicht sehr robust und nur begrenzt belastbar (Kap. 3). Abschließend werden die wesentlichen Ergebnisse des Teil-projektes im Kapitel 4 zusammengefasst und ein Ausblick gegeben.

Er vereint theoretisch fundierte und zugleich aktuelle empirische Beiträge zur Verwertung, Nutzung und Gestaltung der gebauten Umwelt, aber auch zu den Fragen, was der Verlust von Wohnraum bedeutet und welche alternativen Ansprüche an die gebaute Umwelt formuliert werden. Im regionalen Fokus dieses Sammelbandes stehen Frankfurt am Main und Offenbach als Teil der Rhein-Main-Region. Dieser räumliche Bezug hat forschungspraktische (z.B. Zugänglichkeit von Expert_innen), aber auch inhaltliche Gründe, da sich in dieser Region Wohnen und die gebaute Umwelt im besonderen Maße als gesellschaftliches Konfliktfeld – gekennzeichnet durch Phänomene wie Büroleerstand, Wohnungsmangel und Widerstand gegen Wohnen als Ware – erweisen und untersuchen lassen. Die Rhein-Main-Region ist wie andere große deutsche Metropolregionen von einem angespannten Immobilienmarkt geprägt, der das Ziel volatiler, d.h. in Bezug auf Umfang und Objekte sehr stark schwankender, Investments ist. Bis 2008 flossen Investitionen vorrangig in den Bürobestand, im Zuge der Finanz- und Schuldenkrise wurden Investments institutioneller Anleger jedoch in den Wohnungsmarkt umgelenkt (Scharmanski 2013; Heeg 2013). Hintergrund hierfür sind einerseits eine steigende Zahl von sog. notleidenden Krediten („non-performing loans“) im Büroimmobilienbereich (vgl. Biedermann et al., Kap. 7) und andererseits anziehende Mieten und Eigentumspreise auf dem Wohnungsmarkt, welche Investitionen in Wohnimmobilien lukrativ werden lassen (Kholodilin/Mense 2012). In der Folge werden vermehrt Luxuswohnungen erstellt und wird preiswerter Wohnraum vernichtet.
