Abstract:
Background:Osteoarthritis (OA) of the knee and hip is a leading cause of disability worldwide, particularly due to the primary symptom of pain in the weight-bearing joints. There is limited data that characterizes patients who experience moderate to severe pain despite analgesic treatment in China. Objectives:This study estimates the real-world prevalence of inadequate pain relief (IPR) among patients with knee and/or hip OA who have been prescribed analgesic therapy and characterizes this patient population. The study was conducted in China, the Philippines, Thailand, Russia, and Mexico. This abstract presents results from China. Methods:This is a multinational, multi-site, cross-sectional, observational study. Physicians managing patients with OA were recruited and asked to enroll patients over 50 years of age with knee and/or hip OA who had been prescribed topical and/or oral pain medication for at least 30 days prior to study visit. Patients completed a one-time assessment of pain, function, and health-related quality of life (HRQOL) using patient reported outcome (PRO) instruments. Physicians abstracted data from patient charts. IPR was defined as an average pain score of >4/10 on Brief Pain Inventory Question #5 (average pain). Statistical tests including chi-square for categorical variables and Mann-Whitney Wilcoxon test for continuous variables were conducted to assess differences in demographic and clinical characteristics as well as PROs between patients with and without IPR. A multivariate regression analysis was conducted to assess the relationship between IPR and PROs.Results:571 patients treated at 10 hospital centers in China were enrolled. 73% were female, the mean (SD) age was 62 (8.32) years. The number of years with OA ranged from less than one year to over 37 years, suggesting a broad sample of patients. Most patients were impacted by knee OA only (90%). Almost half (43%) of the study population met the definition of IPR. Patients with IPR tended to be older, have greater prevalence of obesity, have more comorbidities, and had longer disease duration. The majority (98%) of patients were receiving nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDS), followed by chondroprotective medications (23%). However, more patients with IPR mentioned being dissatisfied with treatment (38% vs. 21%). After adjusting for covariates, patients with IPR reported worse HRQOL, more functional limitations, and reduced work productivity compared to patients without IPR.Conclusion:IPR is highly prevalent among individuals with knee and/or hip OA in China and is associated with decreased HRQOL and work productivity, impaired function, and treatment dissatisfaction. Developing awareness among healthcare professionals about the presence and potential impact of IPR is important for the ultimate improvement of OA patient management.PROmean (SE)No IPR(N=328)IPR(N=243)EQ-5D Index0.72 (0.01)0.49 (0.02)EQ-5D VAS72.3 (0.85)65.5 (1.00)WOMAC Pain Subscale13.1 (0.78)22.7 (1.52)WOMAC Stiffness Subscale4.2 (0.27)7.4(0.51)WOMAC Physical Function Subscale44.8 (2.61)76.9 (5.07)Work Productivity Loss30.0 (4.07)47.5 (10.46)Multivariate analysis adjusted for age, year since OA diagnosis/follow-up, gender, BMI, number of medication classes, insurance, physician specialty/academic responsibilities, number of affected joints, diabetes, CVD, hyperlipidemia/hypertension, and depression. Abstract:
Tank Man, the image of the lone protestor who faced down the tanks near Tian’anmen Square in 1989, leads a vibrant afterlife in political cartoons, memes, and YouTube remixes. In an era when staying memorable increasingly means being searchable online, these digital remakes have helped to keep his image fresh – outside China anyway. In China itself, though, Tank Man is a famously verboten image, mostly policed out of online sight. The digital artists who have repurposed his image are typically so harried by the censors that their work cannot hope to endow Tank Man with mass viral visibility, let alone the iconic status he possesses abroad. But precisely because of their fugitive character – which produces audiences who are alert, amused, and on the qui vive – these repurposings ensure that Tank Man remains the grit in the clam of public secrecy about 1989.

Abstract:
Spatial accessibility is an important factor for planning healthcare services to maintain a quality life for the metropolitan area. The metropolitan suburb is a special area for its location and rapidly changing population during urbanization. Taking Qingpu district, a suburb of Shanghai as a case, this study evaluated the spatial accessibility to healthcare services of 203 villages and neighborhoods based on the Two-Step Floating Catchment Area (2SFCA) method by ArcGIS software. The result shows that the spatial accessibility in the whole district is quite uneven under lower thresholds, and the spatial differences are beyond the traditional zoning of East Qingpu, New City and West Qingpu. The worst accessibility was mainly distributed at the edges of Jinze, Liantang and Zhujiajiao, while the best accessibility was mainly distributed in the New City and the region close around it. The average value of the spatial accessibility in Qingpu is 2.84, with a reach equal under 90 min threshold by bus index of 2.85, or an under 60 min threshold by self-driving index of 2.70. Secondly, the difference shows a new pattern, that is the spatial accessibility could be affected by both the New City and the Central City. Thirdly, the transportation mode, urbanization, the density of road network and bus lines, as well as the number of doctors in each healthcare service would directly affect the spatial accessibility. Lastly, in order to improve the spatial accessibility in metropolitan suburbs, greater effort is needed in increasing the numbers of bus stations and doctors, especially the areas which are farthest from the New City or the Central City, such as Jinze, and Lian Tang town in Qingpu. We acknowledge that the public transportation is vital to the accessibility to healthcare services. We also emphasize that healthcare services should be planned based on the anticipated future trends of population agglomeration. Our results for Shanghai are applicable to other big cities that are experiencing similar rapid urbanization in China, or other developing countries in Southeast Asia, South Asia, South America and Africa.

This paper analyzes the use of Design Elements of Chinese-style Clothing Brand with SWOT analysis in four aspects: strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats. Four brands were selected as Case Study: SHIATZY CHEN, SHANGHAI TANG, TANGY and JINZHIYUYE. The SWOT analysis shows that four main points should be concentrated on. Firstly, constructing a stable market is important. Existing market should be consolidated and potential market need expanding. Secondly, paying attention to design and technology is crucial. We should carry forward traditional elements and also use western draping. Thirdly, seeking balance between market and design is valued. The most valuable design followes the law of market segmentation. Finally, creating unique brand culture that embodies Chinese traditional design philosophy and aesthetics is imperative.

Abstract:
Five thousand years ago, the first tea was made in China. Only from the beginning of the Middle Ages people of neighboring countries of China recognized tea and until the Tang Dynasty, tea drinking was not widespread. Beginning of the 7th century tea brought Central Asia with the Tea Road. From this period he stretched from China to India. At the centre of this path was Central Asia, the ancient cities of Uzbekistan namely after Samarkand, Bukhara, Tashkent and the Ferghana Valley. It was the northeastern Tea Road that connected China with Central Asia and was much more ancient than other directions of this route. In the 7-15th centuries The Tea Road developed in different historical periods. During the Tang Dynasty in China, Sogdian merchants brought tea to Central Asia. During the Song Dynasty, it was traded by Central Asian merchants and opened their tea shops in China. The Samanid rulers were the patrons of the tea trade. Under the Ming and Timuridsempire, an intensive ambassadorial-diplomatic relationship between China and Central Asia was strengthened. During this period, among the various goods, the main article of Chinese exports was tea, which was exchanged for thoroughbred horses brought from Central Asia. Since the time of the Tang Dynasty, bilateral trade has been established with Central Asia, and as part of the Tea Road, there were several main and a number of experimental routes along which tea went to Central Asia. In these paths, there were customs points - cities that played an important role in China's trade and economic ties with Central Asia. Today, tea is considered a favourite drink of the peoples of Central Asia, including Uzbekistan. Green tea is imported to Uzbekistan from China and it has become a national drink for the people of Uzbekistan.

Abstract:
Abstract Portentous clusters of the five visible planets are repeatedly implicated in historical sources in connection with dynastic transitions in early China. In the medieval period, which is the focus of this investigation, the History of the Three Kingdoms records how timely planetary portents during the decline of the Later Han dynasty (184–220 CE) were exploited as the celestial signs justifying usurpation and the founding of the (Cao-)Wei 曹魏 dynasty by Cao Pi 曹丕 (ca. 187–226). Half a millennium later, in mid-Tang 唐 dynasty, the impetus for the devastating rebellion of An Lushan 安祿山 (703–757) that nearly brought down the Tang can likewise be shown to have been strongly influenced by the historical precedents, and more immediately by a conjunction of all five visible planets that occurred in 750. That ominous astral omen, coupled with portentological speculations based on Han dynasty apocryphal texts, together with the parallels between An Lushan’s and Cao Cao’s 曹操 (155–220) careers, played a role in prompting An Lushan to attempt to overthrow the Tang. In Inner Asia, the founding of the Sasanian Empire in 224 CE in parallel with the Cao-Wei, and the emergence of a political astrology based on the periodicity of Jupiter-Saturn conjunctions suggested the possibility of mutual influences in planetary astrology. However, incompatibility between the two astrological traditions may have militated against mutual influence on a theoretical level. In the absence of detailed information concerning the foundations of Sasanian planetary astrology, to all appearances, and notwithstanding extensive cultural contact, the imperial political astrologies of China and Inner Asia in the medieval period remained resistant to infiltration in either direction.

Zhang, Yijing. "Traduire l’impensé, penser l’intraduisible. La première traduction chinoise des Catégories d’Aristote." Thesis, Paris 4, 2016. http://www.theses.fr/2016PA040119.

Full text
Abstract:
Aristotle’s Categories is one of the first Western philosophical texts translated into Chinese. Since Jesuit missionaries introduced scientific thoughts into China in the 17th century, Chinese literati have shown a strong interest in the demonstration method that was originated in Aristotelian logic. This dissertation presents a detailed study of the Chinese translation Ming li tan, with the aim of addressing several issues on the relationship between language and thought. Chapter 1 is an overview of the historical and cultural environment in which the translation took place. Chapter 2 presents our approach to comparative philosophy. Chapter 3 discusses the translation of the title “Ming li tan”. The term “ming li” is used as a translation of the word “logic”, but is actually composed of terms referring to Chinese philosophical doctrines which deal with problems fundamentally different from those of the Aristotelian logic. Chapters 4 and 5 provide a detailed commentary of the Chinese translation of the first chapter of Categories, focusing in particular on three notions: homonym, synonym and paronym. We conclude our work with a discussion on the translation of the verb “to be” and its derivatives (e.g., being, substance), and explain the reasoning behind its various Chinese renditions. Our central claim is that what is lost in translation is less the literal meaning of word “to be” than its syntax and the way of thinking underlying the use of this word. The focus on translation provides a unique approach to studying linguistic relativism and linguistic and cultural pluralism. A good understanding of these issues is crucial for improving the intercultural dialogue

Abstract:
Islam’s impact on China is growing because its external and internal influences are more intertwined than ever. Islamic civilization permeates the New Silk Road, shaping all of China’s efforts to integrate megaregions throughout Afro-Eurasia. At the same time, the development of Islam inside China changes the way Chinese people define themselves as a nation and as members of the human family. The deeper China enmeshes itself in the Islamic world, the more Chinese must ask themselves what it means to be Chinese. When Chineseness is understood more inclusively and universally, China gains greater effectiveness in relating to Muslims everywhere, regardless of nationality. For generations, Chinese scholars from many disciplines have drawn upon Sino-Islamic interchanges to reinterpret Chinese identity in more pluralist and cosmopolitan ways. Especially notable are the contributions of Gu Jie Gang in history and ethnography, Fei Xiao Tong in social science, and Tang Jun Yi in neo-Confucian philosophy.

Abstract:
This introductory chapter begins the history of Chan literature in the late seventh century when a cycle of narratives appeared asking readers to believe that a perfect and final understanding of Buddhism had been brought to China by an Indian monk named Bodhidharma. These narratives also explained how Bodhidharma, once in China, installed this wisdom, suddenly and totally, in a Chinese monk named Huike, who then transmitted it to his disciple Sengcan in a similarly miraculous manner, and Sengcan in turn transmitted it to his disciple Daoxin, and so on, thereby generating a continuous track of perfectly realized Chinese masters—all of whom supposedly gained the same enlightenment that the Buddha had won back in India some 1,000 years earlier. It is this complex historical claim, slowly pieced together by mid-Tang authors, that has been essential to Chan ideology down to the present.

Abstract:
Recently, the integrity management of large size atmospheric storage tank in China is still in the preliminary stage. The purpose and the concept of integrity management, the core technical system and the management system are discussed. Main system framework of integrity management about large size atmospheric storage tank is developed, combining with the characters including super-large inner volume, corrosive nature of storage media, dangerous of leakage explosion, strict request for non-interruption operating, and related national codes about integrity management. Two elements of the system, an integrity management process of large size atmospheric storage tanks which combines quality control, management of change, performance test, communication consulting, and an integrity management technology system of large size atmospheric storage tank which is composed of data collecting, risk evaluation, integrity evaluation, responses measures, are proposed. At the same time, the procedure of integrity management is applied to an oil depot in a petrochemical company. The risk evaluation and the integrity evaluation were made on 34 storage tanks. To reduce the risk, some measures are put forward to the 9 storage tanks in medium high risk. As a result, all the large size atmospheric storage tanks are controlled at a medium low level.

Abstract:
Increasing the share of intermittent renewable energy sources in a power system poses challenges in terms of increased net load variability and maintaining grid stability and security. Operational flexibility of coal-fired power plants in China has played an essential and promising role in accommodating these nonequilibrium in the power grid. In the study, focusing on condensate throttling coupled with thermal storage tank measures, dynamic simulations of an entire 660 MW supercritical coal-fired power plant were developed via the GSE software. Then, the dynamic characteristics of main thermodynamic parameters and output power were described and compared, and operational flexibility performances of these measures were discussed. It turns out that: when condensate water flowrate decreases, the largest power ramp rate, power capacity, and energy capacity are 12.68 MW min−1, 12.76 MW, and 1084.70 MJ, respectively, and when condensate water flowrate increases, the largest power ramp rate, power capacity, and energy capacity are −5.49 MW min−1, −5.65 MW, and −695.94 MJ, respectively, which means condensate throttling without thermal storage tank measure is more suitable for power-up regulation than power-down regulation, but the shortest duration time is 130 s, which will restrict the operational flexibility regulation. However, coupling with thermal storage tanks, the deaerator water level can maintain a longer time. Meanwhile, at feedwater bypass 60% coupled with thermal storage tank, the largest power ramp rate, power capacity, and energy capacity are −3.62 MW min−1, −3.81 MW, and −897.31 MJ, respectively, and at condensate water bypass 60% coupled with thermal storage tank, the largest power ramp rate, power capacity, and energy capacity are 7.74 MW min−1, 7.88 MW, and 1829.38 MJ, respectively, and these parameter values are greater than condensate water flowrate directly increases or decreases 60%, which means condensate throttling coupling with thermal storage tanks can improve operational flexibility performances. The work is expected to reveal the performance parameters and strategies to provide detailed guidance of using turbine energy storage to improve operational flexibility of the coal-fired power plants.

Full text
Abstract:
China Advanced Research Reactor (CARR), which will be critical in China Institute of Atomic Energy (CIAE) in 2010, is a multipurpose, high neutron flux and tank-type (inverse neutron trap) reactor with compact core. Its nominal reactor power is 60MW and the maximum thermal neutron flux is about 8.0×1014n/cm2·s in heavy water tank. It has a cylindrical core having a diameter of about 450mm and a height of 850mm. The CARR’s core consists of seventeen plate-type standard fuel elements and four follower fuel elements, initially loaded with 10.97 kg of 235U. The fuel element has been designed with U3S2-Al dispersion containing 235U of (19.75±0.20)wt.% low enriched uranium (LEU) and having a density of 4.3gU/cm3. The aluminum alloy is used as the cladding. There are twenty-one and seventeen fuel plates in the standard and follower fuel element, respectively. There are specific requirements for design of the fuel element and strict limitation for the operation parameters due to the high heat flux and high velocity of coolant in CARR. Irradiation test of fuel element had been carried out at fuel element power of 3.1±20%MW at Russia MIR reactor. Average burnup of fuel element is up to 40%. This paper deals with the detailed design of fuel element for CARR, out-pile and in-pile test projects, including selection of fuel and structure material, description of element structure, miniplates and fuel element irradiation experiment, measurement of properties of fuel plate, fabrication of fuel element and test results.

Abstract:
A deepwater Spar Drilling Production Storage Offloading (SDPSO) floating system or Spar FPSO that integrates Spar dry-tree production, oil storage and offloading has been proposed for offshore oil exploitation. Benefits of the deep drafted first generation classic Spar, such as excellent stability and hydrodynamic performances that allow dry tree drilling and production, large capacity of the mid hull section for oil storage, cost efficiency for construction and save in-service operations, are combined to provide a competitive solution from moderate deep water of 300m to ultra-deep water of 3,000m. The present Spar FPSO is proposed for the potential deepwater oil field development in South China Sea. It uses the hull mid-section with large capacity for wet oil storage, utilizing the density difference between the oil and the sea water for wet storage and oil-water displacement in the storage tank. To demonstrate the feasibility and to investigate its hydrodynamic performances of the Spar FPSO, comprehensive experimental investigations, including the in-place model tests in the deepwater offshore basin and the VIM model tests in the towing tank, have been undertaken. For the in-place model tests, both the stand alone and the tandem offloading conditions were considered. The classic Spar hull, the taut mooring system and the top tensioned risers (TTRs) were all included to represent the coupling effects of the whole system. Various metocean environments, such as the 100-year storm, the 1-year storm and the offloading condition, were considered to give a complete assessment. Different mooring configurations were also studied to adapt to the deep and moderate water depths correspondingly. The global responses, such as the hull six degree of freedom motions, top tensions of mooring lines and risers, possible green water occurrences, were monitored and recorded in real time. Additionally, a preliminary VIM experiment was also carried out in the towing tank since the vortex induced motions (VIM) is one of the most concerned issues for the deep drafted Spar. The VIM characteristics with different heading angles and current velocities were obtained. It is demonstrated that the Spar FPSO has satisfactory hydrodynamic and VIM performances in metocean environmental conditions in South China Sea. It gives a feasible and competitive alternative with integrated dry-tree drilling, production, oil storage and offloading functionalities for offshore oil field development in deep water depth.

Abstract:
Liquefaction process is one of the key technologies of offshore FLNG device and is charged by a few of the company’s patent protection. Due to the special offshore operating environment, the choice of FLNG liquefaction process is different from that of onshore. It is very important that FLNG liquefaction process suitable for the marine environment and the oil and gas properties of the South China Sea. In this paper, the static and dynamic performance of propane pre-cooling and dual nitrogen expansion liquefaction process with independent intellectual property rights have been verified by experiment loop simulation with small scale 2000m3/d and middle scale 20000m3/d. Dynamic simulation experimental measures for liquefying key devices such as cold box placed on the swing experiment platform and propane separation tank and the cold box between difference of liquid level changes, are used to verify offshore adaptability of the liquefaction process. Through the static experiments of a small experimental loop with the scale of 2000m3/d simulation considers the liquefaction rate of 93%, energy consumption 0.42kw.h/m3; Dynamic experimental results through the cold box placed on the swinging platform shows that the heat transfer performance of cold box is not affected when FLNG hull roll wave reached 3.6 degrees. The mid-scale experimental simulation of 20000m3/d show that the liquefaction process has the advantages of simple debugging process, convenient operation, quick shutdown and restart, flexible operation, good adaptability to offshore operating parameters, and can realize 3 sets of refrigeration cycles simulation. The propane pre-cooling and dual nitrogen expansion liquefaction process with independent intellectual property rights through the static and dynamic experiments of small and middle scale experimental loop, is verified to the characteristics of high liquefaction rate, low energy consumption and good offshore adaptability. The liquefaction process with independent intellectual property rights can be used to as one of FLNG facility key technologies to develop offshore gas field and faraway from onshore of the South China Sea.

In ASME 2019 38th International Conference on Ocean, Offshore and Arctic Engineering. American Society of Mechanical Engineers, 2019. http://dx.doi.org/10.1115/omae2019-96601.

Abstract:
Abstract In order to develop the gas field in South China Sea, a deep-draft semi-submersible platform with 20000 m3 condensate storage tanks was selected. There is little industrial experience for semi-submersible platform with the condensate producing and storage tanks. This paper presents the impacts caused by the condensate producing and storage on the hull structure design in FEED phase. The design life is 30 years without returning to drydock for repair or maintenance. The main unique features are illustrated as follows. Firstly, the double-wall voids (cofferdams) of 1.8 meters width were designen to prevent condensate leakage in the column around the condensate tanks. The double-wall bulkheads were connected by flats with manholes for maintenance access. this is different from conventional semi-submersible platform. Secondly, the non-watertight bulkheads in the middle of the condensate tank were needed to meet the efficient strength requirements for structural design. The upper and lower 2m height gaps on the bulkhead are convenient for the flowing of bottom condensate and top gas in condensate tank respectively. It is proven that the optimized design of continuous non-watertight bulkhead for the condensate tank is feasible, safe and reliable based on the global strength and fatigue analysis. Thirdly, The additional corrosion margin of 2mm was added to the boundary of frequently ballast and de-ballast tanks in the nodes and columns, and to the bottom plate and the side shell of 2m height from the bottom of condensate tanks considering the SEMI design life of 30 years. Fourth, the pressure head for condensate tank scantling design was increased by 10 m per condensate tank vent head location on topside. Fifth, there are some indirect effects due to the condensate storage, such as the increase of displacement and the load on the SEMI. Therefore, the hull structure needs to be reinforced, especially on the key connections, such as the column and pontoon connection, the deck and hull connection. It is recommended to pay attention to these critical locations with detailed local analyses.

Abstract:
A two-phase thermo-siphon loop is applied to the Cold Neutron Source (CNS) of China Advanced Research Reactor (CARR). The moderator is liquid hydrogen. The two-phase thermo-siphon consists of the crescent-shape moderator cell, the moderator transfer tube, and the condenser. The hydrogen is supplied from the buffer tank to the condenser. The most characteristic point is that the cold helium gas is introduced into the helium sub-cooling system covering the moderator cell and then flows up through the tube covering the moderator transfer tube into the condenser. The helium sub-cooling system also reduces the void fraction of the liquid hydrogen and takes a role of the helium barrier for preventing air from intruding into the hydrogen system. We call the two-phase thermo-siphon the hydrogen cold system. The main part of this system is installed in the CNS channel made of 6061 aluminum alloy (6061A) of 6 mm in thickness, 270 mm in outer diameter and about 6 m in height. For confirming the safety of the CNS, the combustion tests were carried out using the hydrogen-air mixture under the conditions in which air is introduced into the tube at 1 atmosphere, and then hydrogen gas is supplied from the gas cylinder up to the test pressures. And maximum test pressure is 0.140 MPa Gauge (G). This condition includes the design accident of the CNS. The peak pressure due to combustion is 1.09 MPa, and the design strength of the CNS channel is 3 MPa. The safety of the CNS was thus verified even if the design basis accident occurs. The pressure distribution, the stress, and the displacement of the tube were also measured.
