Abstract:
This article makes an analysis of Matteo Ricci’s Jiao You Lun (On Friendship) and Martino Martini’s Qiu You Pian (On Making Friends) starting from the theory of the interaction and communication framework of contact between cultures. The analysis shows that Ricci’s text has a characteristic of convergence and integration of Sino-West traditions which paves the way for culture creation; while Martini introduces the concept of “love” --- the core concept of the Christian doctrines, makes a distinction between Confucian and Christian treatment on disputes, and clarifies the strategy of complementing Confucianism with Christianity. Their introduction of the western theories on friendship is a catalyst which accelerates the modernization of the concept of human relationships among the Chinese literati in late Ming early Qing China.

Abstract:
The article comprises the continuation of research on the chapter called «The Diverse Writings» (Za shu 雜述) from the famous «A Book to Burn» (Fen shu 焚書), the opus magnum of the thinker Li Zhi (李贄, 1527–1602) from the late Ming. It presents the first translations into Russian of essays by Li Zhi, which deal with such issues as politics and governing. They are «An Article with the Discourse on Governing» ( 論 政 篇 Lun zheng pian) and «A Discourse on the Warring States [Period]» (戰國論 Zhan guo lun). The main idea of these texts could be described as follows: the methods of governing are never cast in iron and remain without an alter- native. They should vary depending on the object of governing and the current situ- ation, which always changes.

Abstract:
Actors were luxury goods traded among the elite in late Ming and early Qing China. Not only individual actors but entire troupes were sold, bestowed upon friends, and bequeathed upon relatives. Their circulation served to create and maintain networks of social exchange, in much the same manner as did gifts of fine ceramic ware, calligraphic scrolls, and ancient bronzes. The cultural prestige of the actor as a luxury good, in turn, was predicated on a highly refined discourse of connoisseurship. For example, the theater aficionado Pan Zhiheng's (1556–1622) disquisitions on the art of acting were collected in a volume entitledChongding xinshang pian(Recompiled texts on connoisseurship), published between 1600 and 1640 (Clunas 1991, 36). In this essay, I discuss the social significance of the connoisseurship of the actor, examining the exchange of actors and poems among a rarefied stratum of the mid-seventeenth-century elite.

Abstract:
This paper explores the cinematic meta-theme of the “death of cinema” through the lens of Taiwanese director, Tsai Ming-liang’s 2003 film, Goodbye, Dragon Inn. In the film, the final screening of the wuxia pian classic, Dragon Inn, directed by King Hu, provides a focal point for the exploration of the diminished experience of institutional cinema in the post-cinematic age. Using the concept of “dissipation” in conjunction with a reappraisal of the turn to affect theory, this paper explores the kinds of subjective experiences that cinema can offer, and the affective experience of cinema-going itself, as portrayed in Goodbye, Dragon Inn. More specifically, in theorizing the role of dissipation in cinema-going, this paper explores the deployment of time and space in Goodbye, Dragon Inn and how it directs attention to the bodily action of cinema-going itself. The result is a critique of the possibilities of post-cinematic affects, rooted in an understanding of the way that late-capitalism continues to dominate and shape the range of experiences in the contemporary moment.

<p>明代中國繪畫傳至日本，成為江戶時代重要的創作素材。江戶早期狩野派畫家狩野探幽經多年蒐集和摹寫，繪製了大量以中國古畫為主的縮小摹本，稱作「探幽縮圖」。用於繪畫素材、鑑定筆記及門派傳承等，影響深遠。中國女性是其中重要題材。基於皆川三知關於「縮圖」中多於107幅「唐美人」圖的統計，本文從中日跨文化角度探討「縮圖」中國仕女圖的摹寫方法、來源和運用，並試論日本江戶時代對中國女性題材繪畫及其作偽的受容。發現「縮圖」多擅仕女畫的明代蘇州「吳門」畫家唐寅、仇英款，也有不長於仕女題材的江南名家如元代趙孟頫、趙雍，指出「蘇州片」為其重要來源。再以耕織圖、西王母圖為案例，探討了跨文化背景下中國女性圖像雜糅及重新詮釋問題。</p> <p>&nbsp;</p><p>&quot;During the Ming dynasty, Chinese paintings were transmitted to Japan and became an essential visual source for Japanese paintings of the Edo period (1615-1867). Kanō Tan&rsquo;yū (1602-1674), a leading artist of the early Edo Kanō School, spent his lifetime copying numerous earlier Chinese paintings, as well as some Japanese and Korean works. He left thousands of small-sized sketches, called Tan&rsquo;yū Shukuzu [Tan&rsquo;yū&rsquo;s Small Sketches], leaving a lasting impact on the Japanese painting realm. They were made for multiple purposes, as painting models, authentication notes, teaching materials, and a symbol of a painter&rsquo;s status. Sanko Minagawa&rsquo;s research survey indicates the existence of more than 107 sketches of Chinese female images, as one of the major subjects, in Tan&rsquo;yū Shukuzu. </p> <p> This paper focuses on Tan&rsquo;yū&rsquo;s copies of Chinese female-figure paintings (often called tobijinzu, &ldquo;pictures of Chinese beauties,&rdquo; in Japanese) that were largely overlapped with while beyond the scope of the shin&uuml; tu or meiren hua genre (paintings of beautiful ladies) in Chinese art. It discusses the reproduction mechanism of Shukuzu in comparison with the Chinese fenben practice. It also examines the attributed Chinese artists&rsquo; signatures copied by Tan&rsquo;yū in Shukuzu, e.g., Qiu Ying and Tang Yin (famed for beautiful women paintings), Zhao Mengfu and Zhao Yong (no extant authentic female-figure paintings), and it identifies the late Ming Suzhou Pian workshop as an important original Chinese source. It provides a fresh angle to approach the perception of Chinese &ldquo;forgery&rdquo; paintings and the long-term use of Shukuzu in re-making and reinterpreting Chinese paintings in Edo Japan from the seventeenth to the nineteenth century. Through two case studies from a transcultural perspective, it shows the combination of two Chinese pictorial systems, gengzhi tu (Pictures of Tilling and Weaving) and shin&uuml; tu, in a Kanō School scroll; and the transformation of the Queen Mother of the West, from a powerful female Daoist immortal signified by peaches of immortality to a secularized beautiful lady holding peach blossoms, in Kanō School paintings. </p> <p>&nbsp;</p>

By the late ming (1573–1644), the values of frugality and spending had often gone to battle. Those who promoted frugality sometimes did so with specific goals in mind—the acquisition of a plot of land, or the stockpiling of resources to ride out a failed harvest—and other times with a social conscience that militated against indulging the self while others suffered from want. Others claimed that spending was acceptable if it did not deplete one's resources or would benefit people in the long run. Yuan Ts'ai, for example, instructed his family: “A degree of luxury in accord with your financial resources is not what I am calling wasteful” (cited in Ebrey 1984:265).

A pénzügyi piacok e szegmense azonban még az érettség korai szakaszában jár, ezért gyakori probléma a megfelelő adatok és módszertanok hiánya, amit az egységes piaci legjobb gyakorlatok és szabályozások fejlődése oldhat csak meg. Esszénkben a már megjelent zöldkötvények hatásjelentéseinek trendjeit, jellemzőit és jelenlegi szabályozását jártuk körbe, valamint ismertettük a hatásjelentések értékelésekor jelentkező kihívásokat, a kapcsolódó szakirodalom és a saját gyakorlati tapasztalataink alapján. Meglátásunk szerint a piac már túljutott az „erényfitogtató PR”-célú szakaszán, de a hagyományos pénzügyi adatok standardizáltsági fokának eléréséig még hosszú az út.

A vállalati kötvények szerepe globálisan felértékelődött az elmúlt évtizedben, mivel ideális pénzügyi eszközök mind a kibocsátó vállalatok forrásszerkezetének diverzifikálásában, mind pedig a befektetők portfóliójának kezelésében. Egy kellően fejlett és likvid vállalatikötvény-piac jótékony hatással van a gazdaság piaci mechanizmusainak érvényesülésére, átláthatóságára, valamint erősítheti a pénzügyi rendszer válságállóságát is. Több tanulmány is rámutatott arra, hogy a vállalatok finanszírozásának kérdése a cégek normális működésén túl a válságkezelésben is kiemelten fontos, mivel egy krízist övező bizonytalanság negatív hatással van a bankhitelezés likviditására, megnehezítve a vállalati forrásbevonási lehetőségeket. Ilyen helyzetben létfontosságú tehát, hogy a társaságok egyéb finanszírozási formákra is támaszkodni tudjanak. A 2008–2009-es gazdasági válságot követően ezt felismerve számos ország jegybankja is kötvényvásárlási programot indított annak érdekében, hogy támogatni kezdje a vállalati kötvények piacának szélesítését. A Magyar Nemzeti Bank (MNB) Növekedési Kötvényprogramjának (NKP) köszönhetően már a hazai vállalatikötvény-piac is a vállalatok széles köre számára kínál a bankhitelek melletti reális finanszírozási alternatívát.

Som en avslutning kommer den viktigaste lärdomen jag lärt mig under det här projektet: Det finns aldrig någon anledning att inte satsa fullt ut på det man gör. På många sätt är detta första gången jag vågar göra det och vad jag fått tillbaka av det är helt otroligt. Både för hur mina musiker har agerat men också hur jag har mått under projektets gång. även om jag på många sätt har vunnit över min egen självdestruktivitet kommer jag alltid att ha kvar tendenserna. Att då försätta mig i en situation där jag satsar fullt ut mår jag väldigt bra av även om jag då får mer att förlora.

Abstract:
The development of the xiao pin in the late Ming period (ca.1573-1644) could be explained by four reasons: the political background, the development of economy in the south, the new literary theories advocated and the social background changed. There are different forms of the xiao pin in the late Ming period, such as diaries, biographies, travel accounts, essays, etc.. Mostly they are short compositions, yet they can express the genuine feelings of the writers. The subject matters of the xiao pin in the late Ming period are mainly on natural scenery, interesting daily life, meaningless talking, the art of calligraphy and painting etc. in which the writers express their points of will different from the common people. The xiao pin in the late Ming period has a characteristic of “genuine”(真), “Charm”(韻), “Interesting”(趣) which calls for an interesting reading and thinking. Though scholars or readers have different assessments on the xiao pin in the late Ming period, yet, it unquestionably holds a place in the history of Chinese literature. To let readers understand the different contents and characteristic of xiao pin in the late Ming period, nine compositions concerned are selected and attached at the end of the thesis.

Abstract:
Syftet med studien är att utifrån ett designteoretiskt perspektiv utforska vilka resurser jag använder mig av för att transponera en jazzlåt till olika tonarter. Forskningsfrågorna är: Vilka resurser använder jag mig av för att transponera en utvald jazzlåt till olika tonarter?  På vilka sätt samverkar resurserna? För att studera min lärandeprocess har jag använt mig av loggbok och videodokumentation som metoder, och studiens teoretiska perspektiv är designteori. Resultatet visar att min lärandeprocess kan beskrivas i två olika transformationscykler. Dessa cykler har jag valt att benämna som transformationscykel 1a och 1b. Transformationscykel 1a beskriver de resurser som används vid transkribering och Transformationscykel 1b beskriver de resurser som används vid transponering. Den första cykeln 1a, presenteras med hjälp av tre teman: Iscensättning, Från dator till öra och Från öra till hand. Den andra, 1b, presenteras med hjälp av fyra teman: Transponering ifrån A-dur till C-dur, Problem under transponering, Transponering till fler tonarter och Transformering av tidigare kunskap. I diskussionskapitlet diskuteras resultatet ur ett designteoretiskt perspektiv. Där vidrörs även frågan om strategier vid transponering varvid dessa jämförs med tidigare litteratur och forskning inom området. Slutligen redogörs för mina egna reflektioner kring arbetet, arbetets betydelse och fortsatta forsknings - och utvecklingsarbeten.
The purpose of this study is based on a design theoretic perspective, exploring what resources I use when transposing jazz tunes to different keys. The research questions are: What resources do I use to transpose a selected jazz tune to different keys? In what ways interact the resources? To study my learning process, I have used the logbook and video documentation, and the study's theoretical perspective is the design theory. The result shows that my learning process can be described in two different transformation cycles. These cycles, I have chosen to call the transformation cycle 1a and 1b. Transformation cycle 1a describes the resources used for transcription, and Transformation cycle 1b describes the resources used for transposing. The first transformation cycle 1a is presented by means of three themes: Staging, From the PC to the ear and From ear to hand. The other cycle, 1b, is presented by means of four themes: Transposing from A-flat major to C major, Problems during the transposing, Transposing to other keys and Transformation of previous knowledge. The discussion chapter discusses the results from a design theoretic perspective. The discussion also touches questions of strategy about transposing, which these being compared with the previous literature and research in the area. Finally, an account is given of my own reflections on the work, the importance of work and further research and development work.

In Chapter 10, “Fostering Curiosity and Creativity,” begins with an introduction to the elements of the creative process, including aspects of research accomplished by several scholars, including Koestler, Csikszentmihalyi, and others. Suggestions follow for how pedagogy teachers can apply knowledge of the creative process in transformative ways in the pedagogy classroom. They illustrate how pedagogy teachers can encourage students to become curious, how they can help them prepare in ways that will lead to moments of creativity, and how they can help students think “outside the box.” It includes several classroom exercises, including a semester-long term-paper assignment, that are designed with aspects of the creative process in mind.

Abstract:
This chapter discusses the inherent limits of all the imaginative models for music, from analyses to sketches to scores, and the gap that opens up between them and the real-time experience of the composers, the performers, and the listeners. Drawing examples from the composer Roger Reynolds and from a recent piano project investigating the performance of contemporary piano music, this chapter argues that imaginative models of music are fully understood not as attempted comprehensive specifications, but as spurs or prompts that initiate improvisatory acts which bring the piece into a performable entity. Within this context, music constitutes a model of how people can work hand in hand towards a common goal yet maintain their autonomy. Music shows how individual imagination is consummated in social action.

A finite element analysis was carried out to determine the optimum pin placement with the application of mini fixator in Lapidus procedure. Various parameters were considered for analysis like pin diameter, distance from fracture site, number of pins, distance of the rail from the fracture site, effect of width and length of the rail on gap closing, angle of fracture and pin angle. FEMLAB 2.3 is used for both modeling and analysis. A 2D model is constructed with the bone joint consisting of first metatarsal and cuneiform along with the fixation device. The dimensions of the model are taken similar to a prototype model of the foot and mini fixation device. Simple Static analysis is done as a beginning case which will be later developed to dynamic case.

Abstract:
The computational study investigates different pin fin arrangements at low Reynolds numbers, which would typically be prevalent in mini-micro-channels used in enhancing heat as well as mass transfer. The effect of pin density, span-wise pitch, and stream-wise pitch is investigated on friction and heat transfer over a range 5&lt;ReD&lt;400. High density pins with small span-wise pitches were found to provide the highest augmentation in heat transfer capacity (conductance), whereas low density pins with or without a large stream-wise pitch were found to provide the least heat transfer benefits in the low Reynolds number range studied. Friction factor decreases considerably as the pin density decreases. The effect of decreasing span-wise pitch increases the friction factor in the low Reynolds number regime (ReD&lt;200) but decreases it beyond ReD = 200 by delaying wake instabilities and the associated increase in form drag. Increasing the stream-wise pitch decreases the friction factor at low ReD&lt;200, but increases it at ReD&gt;200 due to the formation of larger recirculating wakes. Overall it is concluded that a high density arrangement with a small span-wise pitch provides the best thermal performance.

Abstract Heat exchangers with microchannel/mini-channel configurations have wide applications including aerospace, air-conditioning, process/power industries, gas turbine cooling, etc. Heat sinks are effective due to the main feature of having fins, however, there are limitations with respect to their applications. The main objective of this study is to observe the changes in the performance of the heat exchanger by calculating effectiveness with respect to Reynolds number, pin fins (two types: circular and square), and operating conditions. The current study is conducted through Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) analysis using ANSYS Fluent solver platform. The CFD geometric model consisted of a top channel with hot fluid (air), the bottom channel (water), and the middle part, aluminum block. Overall, it is noted that the heat transfer is enhanced by adding pin fins along the mini-channel of the heat exchanger. The findings indicated that square fins perform slightly better than circular fins.

Thermal performance for mini water-cooled cold plates covered with non-metallic polycarbonate (PC) is experimentally measured in this study. The mini cold plates are designed to reduce the overall weight of the cooling device for effective heat dissipation from a humanoid robot. The water-cooled cold plate has a 10×10 mm2 of base plate which is made of copper or aluminum. Two different types of enhanced surfaces are considered in the present study: copper pin-finned surface of 0.5×0.5 mm2 area and 1.5 mm high with 0.5 mm fin spacing and aluminum foam-finned surface of 92% porosity and 40 PPI (pores per inch). Heat transfer rates are measured according to the input power and the flow rate of cooling water. The surface temperature of the base plate and the cooling water temperatures at inlet and outlet of each cold plate are measured. From the results, it is found that the copper pin-finned cold plate shows better performance than the aluminum foam-finned cold plate in terms of thermal resistance and pressure drop.

An experimental study was conducted to investigate the friction and heat transfer performance of air transitional flow in a rectangular channel with staggered arrays of short pin fins with transverse spacing-to-diameter of 1.5 and streamwise spacing-to-diameter ratio of 2.5. The friction factor, averaged Nusselt number and the overall thermal performance of the transitional flow have been obtained, and compared with Metzger’s pin fin channel with transverse spacing-to-diameter of 2.5 and streamwise spacing-to-diameter ratio of 2.5. The experimental study has showed that in the Reynolds number range of 1678–8500, the pin fin channel with transverse spacing-to-diameter of 1.5 has a higher convective heat transfer performance, but the enhancement capability decreases with the Reynolds number. For Re &lt;6000, the overall thermal performance of the pin fin channel with transverse spacing-to-diameter of 1.5 is higher than the pin fin channel transverse spacing-to-diameter of 2.5, however for Re &gt;6000 the overall thermal performance of the former is lower than the latter. For both of the pin fin channels, the overall thermal performance gets highest when the flow transition occurs.

Purpose: The aim of this study was to compare the biomechanical performance between Cross Pin and EndoButton methods of graft fixation in femur portion of anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction. Methods: Twenty porcine femur, 10 for Biosteon Cross Pin and 10 for EndoButton, were submitted to cyclic loading between 50 N to 250 N for 1000 cycles at 1 Hz. For devices that not failed during cyclic loading, a tensile test to failure was performed at strain rate of 50 mm/min. Results: There were no differences in the cyclic loading test and ultimate failure load between Cross Pin and EndoButton. However, the Cross Pin was stiffer than EndoButton. Results: The Cross Pin shows to be a better option than EndoButton when tested on porcine knee model according the methodology present in this work.
