Résumé
 L’étiquette de minimaliste, celle de la nouvelle tendance littéraire et artistique de la fin des années soixante-dix, réunit des auteurs aux textes brefs, qui dans un mouvement de tabula rasa, partagent certaines inclinations esthétiques. Partisans de l’art de simplicité et de l’esthétique de la concision reconnue dans l’écriture par sobriété de l’expression, réduction de la trame narrative, «atomisation de l’intrigue», absence de sens historique, de grandes idées philosophiques, personnages anonymes, etc., ces auteurs se considèrent unanimement redevables à un avant-coureur commun : Samuel Beckett. Il en va de même pour les écrivains minimalistes d’Iran qui reconnaissent ouvertement leur dette envers Bahrâm Sâdeghi dont l’œuvre, parue pendant 1957- 1972, constitue l’une des explorations les plus originales de la narrativité minimaliste, avant que le courant soit répandu au pays. Précurseur du minimalisme en Iran, ce dernier s’approprie une figure marquante de son époque tenant compte du traitement particulier qu’il inflige au personnage et du parcours que poursuit cette ombre flottante dans une intrigue basée sur rien. Ainsi nous proposons-nous, dans cette étude, de cerner les aspects littéraires du minimalisme, notamment beckettien, dans la tentative scripturale de Sâdeghi. Nous y montrerons comment Sâdeghi a reproduit des procédés similaires dans son œuvre, notamment dans La Tranchée et les gourdes vides, en retrouvant les échos, directs/indirects, de l’écriture de Beckett chez l’auteur iranien. Les deux auteurs optent pour un processus de réforme dans lequel ils engagent leur système de littérature minimaliste afin de présenter leur position de contestation de l’ordre établi à leur manière ; une lecture comparative et intertextuelle permet de souligner leur démarche commune.

Varias veces nombrada por la crítica literaria como descendiente de Marguerite Duras, la concepción de su obra busca sobre todo representar la ambivalencia de un yo íntimo fragmentado, así como el punto intermedio sexual y amoroso. En relación a su escritura, en Mes mauvaises pensées, Nina Bouraoui revela a través de un proceso de deconstrucción/construcción, una escritura del yo que condensa procesos que recuerdan en ciertas ocasiones la naturaleza de los textos con componentes Minimalista. Si la presencia del doble es permanente en la narrativa, el uso de la escritura minimalista permitirá formular la presencia del yo autobiográfico, así como su relación con el mundo. Le discours critique fait du minimalisme narratif une caractéristique du contemporain en France comme au Québec. Marque par excellence d’un retour à la lisibilité et au récit, le minimalisme, dans quelques-unes de ses formes marquantes, relève pourtant d’une sorte de malaise : les réductions de tous ordres, la disparition d’enjeux d’envergure et la dilution de la littérature dans un univers médiatique éclaté font de cette tendance un « amoindrissement », un « repli » plus ou moins nostalgique. Si les contextes historiques et culturels du Québec et de la France diffèrent, la critique tend de part et d’autre à associer la « réduction » minimaliste à la perte d’envergure de la littérature contemporaine, qui raconterait « malgré tout », que ce soit sur un mode fragmentaire, intimiste ou ludique. Nous proposons de revenir sur cette conception, de faire travailler les convergences et divergences critiques entre la France et le Québec pour tenter de cerner une certaine narrativité minimaliste, distincte de ce qu’on appelle parfois « le mode mineur ». Nous nous basons sur une lecture de Jean-Philippe Toussaint, Larry Tremblay et Elise Turcotte pour remettre en question l’idée d’une réduction minimaliste et reconsidérer le rapport entre le sensible et le sens, en insistant sur l’importance, peu soulignée jusqu’ici, de la tension narrative et des imaginaires qui mobilisent ce type de récit.

Dans cet article en éthique appliquée, je souhaite montrer comment l’opposition entre minimalisme et maximalisme moral peut éclairer le débat sur la prohibition des drogues. Le principe – défendu par Ruwen Ogien – de l’indifférence morale du rapport à soi-même implique en effet qu’on ne condamne pas l’usager de drogue au nom d’un paternalisme moral. Plus généralement, en ne reconnaissant pas les « crimes sans victimes », le minimalisme écarte un certain nombre d’arguments en faveur de la prohibition. On peut donc dire que l’intérêt de l’approche minimaliste en éthique des drogues consiste moins à trancher des cas difficiles qu’à écarter certaines mauvaises raisons et autres intuitions maximalistes et confuses.

Résumé Cette étude examine les relations entre les styles d'autoportrait, l'autoévaluation des compétences et l'évaluation de l'adaptation scolaire par les pairs et l'enseignant. L'étude porte sur 81 enfants scolarisés dans un établissement d'enseignement primaire de Toulouse. Trois styles d'autoportrait ressortent : les autoportraits élaboré, expressif et minimaliste. Les deux premiers ne semblent pas associés à des problèmes d'adaptation, mais les enfants liés au style minimaliste manifestent un faible score sur l'autoévaluation des compétences sociales et scolaires, et une faible estime de soi. Les professeurs les perçoivent comme plus dérangeants et les pairs les évaluent comme affichant davantage de comportements antisociaux. Le fait qu'une autoévaluation négative soit associée à un autoportrait minimaliste et aux attributions de comportements antisociaux suggère que ces enfants éprouveraient éventuellement des difficultés d'adaptation scolaire.

Résumé Cet article vise à analyser la place et la fonction du quotidien dans le roman minimaliste d’Élise Turcotte, Le bruit des choses vivantes. Plutôt que de considérer le quotidien comme un objet privilégié de la fiction intimiste, on examinera la façon dont le quotidien est construit et valorisé dans le roman. Réciproquement, on verra comment ce roman s’élabore narrativement à partir du quotidien. L’enjeu est donc de revenir sur le rapport peut-être trop évident que l’on tend à établir entre le quotidien, la fiction intimiste et le minimalisme. Tout en cherchant à mieux cerner les enjeux narratifs du quotidien, on tentera de dégager ce qui définit le « mode mineur » dans ce roman.

This master's thesis in creative writing is divided into two parts. The first constitutes a critical analysis of "minimalist" writing, a term which has been used to describe the work of certain contemporary American writers but which might equally be applied to a portion of the world literature. This literary form has two fundamental characteristics from an aesthetic point of view: brevity and realism. In fact, it could be defined as the short story taken to its ultimate expression. Furthermore, it represents one of two poles by which we can evaluate all literature. The second part of the thesis is a collection of short stories which embody the minimalist aesthetic with everyday life and relationships between couples as their central theme.

Abstract:
This dissertation deals with doctrines defined as ‘minimalist’ in criminal law. The analysis, developed in the fields of Italian and Anglo-American jurisprudence, has the aim of reconstructing theories and justifications of criminalization and punishment which refer to the word “minimalism”, thus pointing out a peculiar position in the philosophy of criminal law, different both from abolitionism and ‘classic’ penal theories. The main topics of the first part of the work are the “harm principle”, proportionality and parsimony, evaluated under a critical approach as regards their possible impact on decriminalization strategies. This, also considering the basis of criminal prohibitions as limited by the rule of law and constitutional rights. The last section, whose theme is justification of punishment, focuses on characterizing as “minimalist doctrines” those integrated frameworks which suggest substantial reductions in the severity of criminal sanctions, as regards both their typology and their amount.

Cette thèse propose une analyse des arguments nuls qui rend compte de leurs propriétés tant morphosyntaxiques que phonologiques et sémantiques. L'hypothèse avancée est que les arguments nuls sont des DP élidés dans toutes les langues pro-drop, que celles-ci aient une morphologie d'accord ou non. Ainsi, à l'encontre de l'hypothèse couramment admise , l'accord/flexion n'est pas ce qui légitime formellement un élément nul. Une étude minutieuse de la distribution et interprétation des sujets lexicaux, nuls et des catégories contrôlées (telle PRO), m'amène à proposer une nouvelle typologie : les sujets lexicaux et PRO nesont pas en distribution complémentaire, et par ailleurs les sujets lexicaux peuvent être référentiellement dépendants, tout comme PRO. L'ellipse de DP est soumise à deux conditions formelles de légitimation : une condition sur le Cas structurel aui explique la distribution des DP qui peuvent être élidés vs. Ceux qui ne peuvent l'être dans les langues pro-drop, et (ii) une condition requérant que les valeurs des traits – soient identiques sur le DP et la tête qui lui assigne le cas, qui elle explique pourquoi les sujets ne peuvent être nuls dans les langues telles l'allemand. La théorie du Cas doit alors être formulée en termes du filtre inverse sur le cas : l'assignation du cas implique une opération d'Accord dans laquelle la sonde est une tête telle que T ou v, et la cible un DP. L'hypothèse que l'ellipse de DP est sujette à une condition de parallélisme explique la distribution et (en partie) la distribution des arguments nuls. La thèse étudie des données du basque, ainsi que d'autres langues pro-drop, telles le castillan, le japonais, le quechua et le chamorro.

Cette these qui s appuie sur les romans de barbara pym (auteur anglais contemporain) s attache a montrer ce qui fait la specifite de son oeuvre: la peinture de la vie quotidienne d une micro societe (celle de la classe moyenne anglaise et anglicane) percue avec une distance qui aboutit a la fois a un point de vue humoristique et a une approche minimliste. La premiere partie souligne le minimalisme du materiau: espace limite, temps repetitif, existences banales, mais dont la peinture est relevee par le regard plein d humour et de sympathie a travers lequel il est percu. Ensuite sont abordees les techniques mises en oeuvre pour appuyer le caractere deliberement ordinaire du materiau focalisation externe par l intermediaire des personnages observateurs, utilisation des details materiels, differents procedes d attennuation qui aboutissent a un minimalisme du point de bue et de l expression propres a renforcer l aspect quotidien du materiau selectionne. La troisieme partie se concentre sur les tentatives de fuite devant cet univers banal et routinier qui soperent par l imagination ou un deplacement effectif , avant de montrer la maniere dont elles aboutissent systematiquement a l echec et a la derision, renforcant ainsi l impact et l emprise du quotidien sur les existences des personnages. Abstract:
L'effet hydrophobe est reconnu comme l'un des principaux phénomènes qui guident une protéine lors de son repliement vers sa conformation native en milieu aqueux. Nous nous intéressons aux origines thermodynamiques de l'effet hydrophobe au travers d'une étude théorique comparative des transferts en solution d'acides aminés hydrophobes et d'acides aminés hydrophiles en fonction de la température. Les acides aminés et le solvant sont représentés par un modèle gros grain en deux dimensions. Les valeurs moyennes des grandeurs thermodynamiques associées au transfert en solution des acides aminés et de composés homologues de leur chaîne latérale sont calculées au cours de simulations de type Monte Carlo dans l'ensemble isotherme isobare. On observe un bon accord qualitatif entre les valeurs expérimentales des enthalpies libres d'hydratation des chaînes latérales et les valeurs calculées avec le modèle par intégration thermodynamique. L'étude des différentes contributions thermodynamiques permet de mettre à jour l'importance relative et l'évolution avec la température des effets enthalpiques et entropiques sur les enthalpies libres de transfert. La distribution des molécules d'eau dans l'environnement d'un acide aminé hydrophobe, l'isoleucine, et d'un acide aminé hydrophile, la glutamine, est étudiée en calculant des cartes en deux dimensions en fonction de leur nombre de liaisons hydrogène. Ces cartes permettent en grande partie d'expliquer les différences observées dans la thermodynamique du transfert en solution de l'isoleucine et de la glutamine par les spécificités de leur influence sur la structure du solvant dans leur environnement<br>The hydrophobic effect is one of the major forces that govern protein folding. We study the hydrophobic effect thermodynamical origins towards the transfer into solution of apolar amino acids and of polar amino acids. Their solvation mechanisms are compared with respect to the temperature. The amino acids and the solvent are represented by a coarse grain model in two dimensions. Monte Carlo simulations in the isothermal isobaric ensemble are performed to compute the thermodynamics of transfer of the amino acids and of homologue compounds of their side chains. There is a good qualitative agreement between the experimental data of the solvation free energy of the side chains and their computed values with the model using thermodynamic integration. The study of thermodynamics of transfer gives insight into the importance of the enthalpic and the entropic contributions to the solvation free energy. Two dimensional distribution maps of water molecules are computed around a polar amino acid, the glutamine, and around an apolar amino acid, the isoleucine, with respect to their hydrogen bonds numbers. These maps show the solvent structure in the vicinity of the solutes. The major transfer thermodynamics differences can be explained by the different impacts of the solutes on the solvent structure

Confrontés aux incertitudes et turbulences du monde extérieur, et s'interrogeant, d'autre part, sur l'aptitude de la langue à rendre compte de la réalité, les auteurs minimalistes des années 1990 (parfois regroupés sour le terme de safa raza : langue maigre) se positionnent en rupture complète avec les générations littéraires précédentes. Ils se replient sur le territoire du privé, de l'espace personnel et ordinaire (rupture thématique), et revendiquent d'écrire une langue simple, courante, comme celle supposée parlée dans la rue (rupture stylistique). On peut distinguer deux versions : l'une positiviste, qui prône la restriction du discours pour coller au "peu" susceptible d'être dit avec certitude (exemple de Gadi Taub), l'autre postmoderniste, qui opte pour le décalage, la réalité ne se laissant approcher que par le biais des représentations fictives, qui se dévoilent en tant que telles (exemple d'Etgar Keret)<br>Faced with the outside uncertainty, and wondering about the language's ability to faithfully describe the reality, the minimalist Israeli authors of the 90's take a stand against the former literary generations. They fall back on privacy, on personal and ordinary life (thematic breakdown ), and stand out for writing a simple, current language, like the one supposed to be spoken in the street (stylistic breakdown). Two versions can be made out : the first one is positivist, and advocates restriction of language in order to stick to the "little" likely to be said with certainty (Gadi Taub for instance), and the other one is postmodernist, which prefer words' games, reality only approached by fiction, presented as such (Etgar Keret for instance)

Cette thèse cherche à formaliser l'accord généralisé (ou accord multiple) bantou dans le cadre des grammaires minimalistes. En effet, dans les langues bantoues comme l'Ewondo, l'accord se caractérise par la propagation du trait de classe du N-tête sur tous ses dépendants y compris le verbe. Pour saisir ce phénomène linguistique, nous proposons une extension des opérations permises dans les grammaires minimalistes. Cette extension nous permet de rendre compte, soit de la persistance du trait de classe pour marquer l'accord, soit de l'insertion post-syntaxique de ce trait. Avec les constructions impératives-hortatives, le traitement de l'accord s'articule autour de l'idée de consistance de traits qu'on retrouve dans les grammaires d'unification. Enfin l'accord multiple dans les séries verbales est formalisé en termes de mouvement avec contrôle. Dans la dernière partie, la grammaire proposée est appliquée à des cas d'autres langues comme l'accord pluriel répandu en coréen et les prédicats seconds en français<br>This thesis proposes to formalize Bantu generalized agreement (or multiple agreement) within the framework of minimalist grammars. In Bantu languages such as Ewondo, agreement is characterized by the spread of class feature of the head N all over its dependents including the verb. To deal with this linguistic phenomenon, we extend permitted operations in minimalist grammars. That extension allows us either to treat class feature persistence that mark the agreement, or to deal with post-syntactic insertion of agreement feature. Agreement in imperatives-hortatives revolves around the idea of features consistency found in unification grammars. And finally multiple agreement in serial verbs constructions is formalized in terms of control movement. In the last part, the proposed grammar is applied to cases of other languages such as plural agreement in Korean and second verb predicates in French

This dissertation examines the syntactic structures underlying three types of imperatives in spoken French: Class A or non-verbal imperatives of the type Au lit! (PP), Plus blondes, les méches (AdjP), Doucement! (AdvP). Feu! (NP); Class B or uninflected verbal imperatives such as Ne pas marcher sur la pelouse ; and Class C or inflected verbal imperatives including the subject-less forms canonically termed imperatives (Arrête!), subjunctive forms (Que tu viennes pas to plaindre après! ) and a variety of indicative forms having an explicit subject (Tu vas me faire ça tout de suite). Working in a Minimalist framework (Chomsky 1995), we show that the common illocutionary force shared by this broad range of grammatical structures can be attributed to the interaction of three features: a [dyn]amic feature, an [irr]ealis feature and a [2]nd person feature. We argue (pace Platzack & Rosengren 1997/1998, and others) that the imperative illocutionary force of all of these utterance types is an operator, which we situate in the highest structural position, the specifier of ForceP (Rizzi 1997). The traces left by feature checking of the three features constitute the variables which license the operator, thus allowing imperative illocutionary force to apply to the utterance. We argue further for a truncated structure for Class A and Class B imperatives, the former lacking VP and the projections associated with it (notably NegP) and the latter lacking such projections as FinP (Rizzi 1997). Our analysis allows us to account syntactically for commonalities amongst a broad range of data, many of which have traditionally been relegated to the field of pragmatics or marginalized as 'stylistic' effects.

Sous l’apparence d’une écriture dépouillée et d’une narration dénudée, Marie Redonnet, écrivaine contemporaine, nous présente un univers fictionnel peuplé de personnages –féminins pour la plupart- démunis et solitaires, soumis aux grandes tensions sociales, ancrés dans un cadre spatio-temporel flou, et fréquemment plongés dans un état d’abandon existentiel, de stagnation, auquel vient contribuer la présence d’une composante clé de l’imaginaire redonnetien: l’élément aquatique. Chez Redonnet, les différentes variantes de l’eau: océans, mers, fleuves, lacs, cascades, marécages, etc, deviennent de véritables métaphores récurrentes, voire obsédantes, riches de signification. Prenant comme point de départ de notre parcours la trilogie: Splendid Hôtel, Forever Valley et Rose Mélie Rose, publiée entre 1986 et 1987, nous nous proposons d’analyser, dans un premier temps, le rôle et la signification de la présence récurrente de la thématique de l’eau dans cette trilogie. Nous dresserons, ensuite, le tableau des différentes manifestations de l’eau et des divers aspects de la symbolique aquatique dans son dernier roman: La femme au colt 45, paru en 2016. Dans ce roman, utilisant une langue épurée et minimaliste, proche du langage dramaturgique, Marie Redonnet nous pose la problématique de la précarité des réfugiés, et des sans-papiers, de la méchanceté humaine, des difficultés pour recommencer une nouvelle vie ailleurs, de « l’autre côté du fleuve », à travers l’expérience vitale de Lora Sander, une comédienne qui fuit la dictature de son pays. L’étude dans ce dernier roman de la présence de l’eau, sous toutes ses manifestations, ainsi que la signification des différents élements qui lui sont associés, nous permettra de nous interroger sur l’évolution du traitement de l’imaginaire aquatique dans la création littéraire de M. At present, the oven has become a popular electrical product for home life，and its appearance design is based on a minimalist style, pursuing the purity of appearance and streamlining of functions. However, different users have different perceptions of the simplicity and ease of use of the oven design, which may lead to differences in aesthetic preferences and design requirements, which in turn may lead to varying degrees of use obstacles and poor experience. How to grasp the "degree" of Minimalist Design to meet the differentiated needs of more users? It is the main problem of oven design at this stage. However, the method researches of related Minimalist Design are mostly theoretical reference and lack practical guiding significance. Therefore, this article will focus on the concept of Minimalist Design, combined with multi-level demand theory and Analytic Hierarchy Process, to explore the differences in users’ aesthetic preferences for minimalist oven design, construct a multi-level structural model of user needs, obtain the importance of user needs, and summarize differentiated minimalist oven designs methods. First, hot-selling ovens were selected as the research objects; compared the relative simplicity difference of each two products , a difference matrix was obtained; Multi-Dimensional Scaling Analysis, Cluster Analysis, and K-means Clustering were applied, the simplicity of ovens was classified and each category Typical products were obtained as simple prototypes; questionnaire surveys and statistical tests were used, the characteristics of the user groups of each prototype were obtained; based on the concept of Minimalist Design, user interviews and other methods were applied, the simplicity of users on three levels of stable performance, smooth interaction, and minimalist appearance Design demand factors were obtained; finally, the Analytic Hierarchy Process was applied, a hierarchical model of simple design factors were constructed, the weight of needs of each user group was obtained, and the differentiated design methods were summarized. As a result, a total of 12 hot-selling ovens were selected; a total of 3 minimalist prototypes ABC were obtained, The user group of prototype A is dominated by young women in higher education, prototype B is dominated by middle-aged women in secondary education, and prototype C is dominated by the elderly; a multi-level structure model of user needs was constructed, and The weight of the needs of the 3 user groups were obtained; based on the importance of the needs of each group, the targeted minimalist oven design methods were proposed. Therefore, the method which is based on the theory of multi-level needs and applying the Analytic Hierarchy Process, to construct a multi-level structure model of user needs can clarify the characteristics and design needs of different user groups, and improve the effectiveness and practical significance of the Minimalist Design of the oven. This method can provide a reference for enterprises and designers.

Akan tetapi, rumah subsidi ini nyatanya kurang sesuai dengan konsep minimalis dan pada dasarnya kurang menjawab kebutuhan masyarakat sebagai hunian yang nyaman dan aman. Hal itu dapat dilihat dari aspek kenyamanan visual, kenyamanan termal, kenyamanan spasial, dan kenyamanan lingkungan pada rumah subsidi yang tidak terpenuhi, ditambah dengan konsep minimalis yang dimaksud untuk menarik minat pembeli, namun akhirnya menjadi mispersepsi standar minimalis rumah tinggal. Abstract:
Hanne Darboven’s (1941-2009) Opus 17a is a composition for solo double bass that is rarely performed due to the physical and mental challenges involved in its performance. It is one of four opuses from the composers monumental 1008 page Wünschkonzert (1984), and was composed during her period of making “mathematical music” based on mathematical systems where numbers were assigned to certain notes and translated to musical scores. It can be described as large-scale minimalism and it is highly repetitive, but even though the same notes and intervals keep repeating, the patterns slightly change throughout the piece. This is an attempt to unfold the many challenges of both interpreting, preparing and performing this 70 minute long solo piece for double bass consisting of a continuous stream of eight notes. It is largely based on my own experiences of preparing, rehearsing and performing Opus 17a, but also on interviews I have conducted with fellow bass players Robert Black and Tom Peters, who have both made recordings of this piece as well as having performed it live. One is met with few instrumental technical challenges such as fingering, string crossing and bowing when performing Opus 17a, but because of its long duration what one normally would take for granted could possibly prove to be challenging.
