Abstract:
Relevance. The traditional practice of increasing production efficiency with a focus on technical reequipment and increase in the unit capacity of the equipment in operation, carried out without proper changes in the organization of production and for equipment repair service strategy leads to inefficient use of resources and loss of working time, which in turn affects the volume of output of the final product. Research aim is to select the optimal combination of planning strategies for mining equipment repair service. Research methodology includes the methods of structural and functional analysis, scientific generalization, and production experiment. Results. The advantages and disadvantages of planning repairs in the traditional system of planned preventive repairs and maintenance system based on technical diagnostics are presented. The main reasons for the increase in the number of emergency repairs are identified. The main components of effective preparation of repair impacts and methods for calculating the repair cycle on the example of an excavator fleet are given. The results obtained when considering the choice of strategy at one of the mining enterprises in the Urals are presented. Conclusions. To ensure the high performance of mining machinery and equipment during its operation, the effect can be obtained only by using the strategy of “condition-based” repair service with the use of technical diagnostics, condition monitoring of each unit, and repair actions planning that prevent sudden equipment failure.

Abstract:
Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to identify key tasks, tools, and equipment associated with maintenance and repair injuries at US mines and to provide some mitigation strategies to reduce these types of injuries. Design/methodology/approach – This study analyzed incidents resulting in injuries reported to the US Mine Safety and Health Administration from 2002 to 2011. Incident reports were limited to those occurring at mining plants, shops, yards, and aboveground locations. Incident reports were analyzed to determine which activities contributed to injuries and were due to machine maintenance and repair, non-powered hand tools, and powered hand tools. An in-depth analysis of the root causes of these injuries was then performed. Findings – Maintenance and repair in mining is associated with a significant number of hand and finger injuries with a range of severities and averaging over 20 amputated fingers, 180 fractured hands and fingers, and 455 hand and finger lacerations per year. Many of these injuries are caused by hands being struck by or caught in tools and equipment. Back and shoulder strains are found to be associated with the most days lost from work and are mostly attributed to materials handling. Practical implications – Occupational injuries and fatalities still occur with high incidences in the mining sector. The mission of the Office of Mine Safety and Health Research (OMSHR; part of the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health, NIOSH) is to “eliminate mining fatalities, injuries, and illnesses through research and prevention.” As part of this work, OMSHR acquires surveillance data from MSHA to quantify the types and sources of injuries at US mining facilities. The authors evaluated maintenance- and repair-related injuries at US mining sites (excluding underground coal mines). Results of this study suggest a need for improved design of machine guarding, improved hand protection through gloves and equipment design/redesign, and manual materials handling solutions. Originality/value – The findings indicate that maintenance and repair in mining include occupational risks that may be managed through modifications to machines, proper usage of hand tools and hand protection, and improved manual materials handling processes.

Abstract:
Introduction. The article considers the organization of heading and winning machines’ maintenance in the mines of the Upper Kama potash salt deposit highlighting the potential of maintenance and repair according to the actual health of mining machines. Research methodology. The methodological foundations are presented of collecting and processing the data on Ural heading and winning machines failure statistics in the Upper Kama potash salt deposit. It is indicated that monitoring systems implemented in mining machine since 2013 made it possible to quickly track and record data on operating modes and downtime causes. Results. Research revealed that the greatest number of Ural heading and winning machines emergency failures is due to mining technology violation, as well as untimely or poor quality repairs. Breakdowns of swing and distributing reduction gears of planetary actuators, reduction gears of berm bodies and hydraulic systems units are most common. Ural mining machines’ repair cycle is presented. Even complex current and overhauls of heading and winning machines are often carried out by miners who directly operate the machines. Summary. Statistical data storage on failures and corresponding diagnostic parameters limit of heading and winning machines makes it possible to predict the time of equipment failure with a high degree of probability. The more standardized the potash mining machine operation and repair conditions are, the more accurate the remaining life forecast of the residual resource is.

Abstract:
In the present fast-paced world of business in a highly competitive marketplace, the focus on increasing the efficiency of business processes seems to be a reasonable challenge. For this reason in order to optimize production costs, there is an increasing trend toward maximising the use of the operational capabilities of the equipment – technological line components – with the prevention of failure events and their consequences in the form of costly repairs or replacements. A condition-based maintenance (CBM) approach allows to globally monitor, maintain and control operation of the whole complex of equipment and/or processes. The CBM effectively supports decision-making process concerning their further use or determination of the optimum repair/replacement schedule. The presented decision support system is dedicated for an underground copper mine, where the network of belt conveyors is a critical part of the production process. Due to complexity of mechanical system, harsh mining environment and presence of many degradation factors, development of the effective CBM system seems to be justified. It requires the integration of data from different sources, adaptation of advanced data mining techniques, procedures or various diagnostic methods. Because of the multidimensional nature of diagnostic data and diversified technical configurations of the facilities, it was necessary to develop and implement multivariate analytical models based on artificial intelligence techniques. Consequently, it allows to achieve improvement of efficiency of transportation network and reduction of repairs costs and unplanned breakdowns. In this paper we will briefly refer to all these issues.

Abstract:
The development prospects of the mining industry are closely related to the state and development of modern mining machinery and equipment that meet the technical and quality requirements of mining enterprises. Enterprises are focused on a quantitative assessment – the volume of mineral extraction, depending on the functioning efficiency of a promising series of mining machines, which include modern mining excavators. Downtime and unplanned shutdowns of mining excavators directly depend on the operating conditions of the mining machine, which has negative influence on the machine as a whole and its technical condition, which entails a decrease in the efficiency of using expensive mining equipment and economic losses of the mining enterprise. The rationale for external factors that affect the operating time and technical condition of mining excavators is given. For a more detailed assessment of the influence of external influences on the efficiency of operation of mining machines, the influencing factors are divided into two groups: ergatic, directly related to human participation, and factors of a natural-technogenic nature, where human participation is minimized. It was revealed that factors of a natural-technogenic nature have the greatest influence. An algorithm is proposed for a comprehensive assessment of the technical condition and forecasting of operating time both in nominal and in real operating conditions, taking into account factors of a natural and technogenic nature. It is proposed, based on the developed program for planning and evaluating the life of a mining excavator, to adjust the schedules for maintenance and repair (MOT and R) in order to minimize the number of unplanned downtime of a mining excavator and maintain it in good condition.

AbstractComputer systems supporting the management of machines operation and maintenance in companies have been successfully applied in many branches of industry. Over the last few years these systems have been considerably transformed. It also seems that using them for operating mining machines in hard coal mines is inevitable, as maintenance generates high production costs. If implemented, the systems will allow for optimization of stocks, spare parts and materials, supplies, outsourced services as well as maintenance-repair works. Application of a system supporting the management of mining machines/equipment will also enable a better, more effective use of employees. As a result of these actions, the time needed for preparations and repair will be shortened, which will translate directly into the economic effects of mines.

Abstract:
Surface and underground mining, due to its technical challenges, is considered a hazardous industry. The great majority of accidents and fatalities are frequently associated with ineffective or inappropriate training methods. Knowing that knowledge of occupational accident causes plays a significant role in safety management systems, it is important to systematise this kind of information. The primary objective of this systematic review was to find evidence of work-related accidents involving machinery and their causes and, thus, to provide relevant data available to improve the mining project (design). The Preferred Reporting of Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) Statement methodology was used to conduct the review. This paper provides the main research results based on a systematic review protocol registered in the International Prospective Register of Systematic Reviews (PROSPERO), where the research strategy, information sources, and eligibility criteria are provided. From the 3071 articles identified, 16 were considered eligible and added to the study. Results are presented in a narrative-based form, with additional data provided in descriptive tables. The data analysed showed that the equipment often related to mining accidents are conveyor belts, haul trucks, and dumpers, especially during maintenance or repair activities. Attention should be paid to powered tools. Effective monitoring and machine operation control are some of the stated measures to minimise accidents. Particular attention should be paid to less experienced and senior workers, mainly through fatigue control, workload management, and appropriate training programs.

Abstract:
The paper analyses problems associated with the use of mining machinery equipped with diesel engine releases of exhaust gases that have a harmful impact on human health and the environment. The mining industry uses a wide range of equipment powered by diesel engines: dump trucks, backhoe loaders, drill jumbos and other mining machinery. Engine exhaust gases contain toxic elements that have a significant impact on human health and the environment. Air pollution from gases leads to standbys of mine sites, while a reduced visibility on a route results in a partial or total equipment shutdown. At present, environmental requirements to vehicle engines are a top concern. The problem of air pollution with harmful substances contained in diesel engine exhausts is becoming a global challenge. Solutions of these issues require joint efforts from many countries. International conventions and adoption of relevant standards serve as a means of rapprochement in this sphere. Most operations in Europe, Asia and America are guided by similar standards as to the content of harmful substances in exhaust gases, the European Union being an influencer in this regard by frequently introducing updates and stringent regulations. Other countries are following this trend and revising their emission standards too. European states had paid attention to this issue earlier than other countries. Today, environmental requirements to vehicle engines are a top priority. Research in this field is focused on such issues as increasing productivity of mining machinery engines, reducing labour costs of maintenance and repairs, enhancing fuel efficiency and significantly improving environmental performance.

Abstract:
Piston pumps are widely used in the lubrication systems of mining machines. When carrying out technical maintenance (MOT), including lubrication and filling works, at the site of operation of mining machines due to the remoteness from repair shops and warehouses of fuels and lubricants (FAL), mobile repair shops (MRS), maintenance units (MU) and mechanized filling units (MFU) are used. The specificity of carrying out maintenance is to create conditions for the supply of oils, working fluids and lubricants to the corresponding systems of mining machines for their refueling. Existing piston pumps and pumping units, as a rule, are single-flow, and the piston is driven by a crank mechanism driven from the engine through a worm gear. The emergence of unique, hydraulic, low-mobility mining machines in open pit mining required a significant increase in the power of the MU and MFU oil pumping units, primarily for greases. However, the traditional design of the drive design of a crank-type piston pump unit at a power of over 80 kW does not allow achieving the specified operating time, it is accompanied by intensive wear of the drive elements and increased dynamics during operation. In addition, it is necessary to apply various designs of pumping units for the supply of liquid and grease lubricants. Thus, it is necessary to develop new circuit solutions for pumping units of the crank type, to improve mobile refueling facilities with a modernized design of the pump unit drive of the mobile lubrication and filling station MRS.

The remuneration system in mining is a set of conditions and regulations which enable setting and implementation of payment of wages in compliance with competency, complexity and responsibility of personnel. Ineffective remuneration is one of the key factors to cutting down productive time of personnel, work quality and economic efficiency of a whole mine. As a rule, this situation is a consequence of lacking interaction between the rate of wages and work quality of employees in the remuneration system, moreover, figures, which govern the rate of wages, have no considerable influence on production efficiency. Abstract:
Purpose Load haul dumper (LHD) is one of the main ore transporting machineries used in underground mining industry. Reliability of LHD is very significant to achieve the expected targets of production. The performance of the equipment should be maintained at its highest level to fulfill the targets. This can be accomplished only by reducing the sudden breakdowns of component/subsystems in a complex system. The identification of defective component/subsystems can be possible by performing the downtime analysis. Hence, it is very important to develop the proper maintenance strategies for replacement or repair actions of the defective ones. Suitable maintenance management actions improve the performance of the equipment. This paper aims to discuss this issue. Design/methodology/approach Reliability analysis (renewal approach) has been used to analyze the performance of LHD machine. Allocations of best-fit distribution of data sets were made by the utilization of Kolmogorov–Smirnov (K–S) test. Parametric estimation of theoretical probability distributions was made by utilizing the maximum likelihood estimate (MLE) method. Findings Independent and identical distribution (IID) assumption of data sets was validated through trend and serial correlation tests. On the basis of test results, the data sets are in accordance with IID assumption. Therefore, renewal process approach has been utilized for further investigation. Allocations of best-fit distribution of data sets were made by the utilization of Kolmogorov–Smirnov (K–S) test. Parametric estimation of theoretical probability distributions was made by utilizing the MLE method. Reliability of each individual subsystem has been computed according to the best-fit distribution. In respect of obtained reliability results, the reliability-based preventive maintenance (PM) time schedules were calculated for the expected 90 percent reliability level. Research limitations/implications As the reliability analysis is one of the complex techniques, it requires strategic decision making knowledge for the selection of methodology to be used. As the present case study was from a public sector company, operating under financial constraints the conclusions/findings may not be universally applicable. Originality/value The present study throws light on this equipment that need a tailored maintenance schedule, partly due to the peculiar mining conditions, under which they operate. This study mainly focuses on estimating the performance of four numbers of well-mechanized LHD systems with reliability, availability and maintainability (RAM) modeling. Based on the drawn results, reasons for performance drop of each machine were identified. Suitable recommendations were suggested for the enhancement of performance of capital intensive production equipment. As the maintenance management is only the means for performance improvement of the machinery, PM time intervals were estimated with respect to the expected rate of reliability level.

Abstract:
One of the most important indicators of mining complexes are reliability and durability of their components. Studies have shown that the largest amount of mine dump truck down time occurs due to unforeseen failures of a motor-wheel gear. The introduction of additional technological processes to diagnose the actual technical condition of a gear in the maintenance procedure will make it possible to maintain directly the state of its component parts with in-place manner. The method of diagnosing the condition of a motor-wheel gear is based on physical and chemical analysis of oil, as well as its temperature control. During open pit machinery exploitation, various mechanical impurities of wear products of rubbing surfaces accumulate in the operating oil, so it is possible to predict the degree of wear of gear units and mechanisms based on these mechanical impurities. The introduction of this method in production will significantly reduce the down time of dump trucks, thereby increase the productivity of the enterprise and reduce repair costs.

Abstract:
Electric motors are widely used in our society in applications like cars, household appliances, industrial equipment, etc. Costly failures can be avoided by establishing predictive maintenance (PdM) policies or mechanisms for the repair or replacement of the components in electric motors. One of key components in the motors are bearings, and it is critical to measure the key features of bearings to support maintenance decision. This paper proposes a data science approach with embedded statistical data mining and a machine learning algorithm to predict the remaining useful life (RUL) of the bearings in a motor. The vibration signals of the bearings are collected from the experimental platform, and fault detection devices are developed to extract the important features of bearings in time domain and frequency domain. Regression-based models are developed to predict the RUL, and weighted least squares regression (WLS) and feasible generalized least squares regression (FGLS) are used to address the heteroscedasticity problem in the vibration dataset. Support vector regression (SVR) is also applied for prediction benchmarking. Case studies show that the proposed data science approach handled large datasets with ease and predicted the RUL of the bearings with accuracy. The features extracted from time domain are more significant than those extracted from frequency domain, and they benefit engineering knowledge. According to the RUL results, the PdM policy is developed for component replacement at the right moment to avoid the catastrophic equipment failure.

Abstract:
The Mining Industry is one of the pillars of national economic development. In this industry, heavy equipment plays an important role in the coal mining process in Indonesia. By using heavy equipment must be well structured, so that the project can run easily without any obstacles. This research aimed to evaluate the cause of the low-value OEE of the Excavator Hitachi EX2500-6 of EX157 and EX158 units and determine the way to repair so that the equipment performance can be improved. This research uses descriptive quantitative approach with value analysis methods Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE). The result of OEE values were analyzed using losses classification method so that the occurrence of loss factors can be found and root cause analysis performance using a causal diagram/fishbone diagram and then make any improvement recommendations that can be done by using 5W1H analysis. Based on the research results, the OEE values of two excavators were calculated and were compared with the benchmark values. The values of OEE were found to be 84% for EX157 units and 68% for EX158 units. The low value of OEE on EX158 caused by unscheduled maintenance time losses amounting to 1188.3 hours. The high of time loss is influenced by trouble on Machine Frame, Structure, Body, and Cab components amounted to 60.9%. The root causes of the losses derived from the availability of external mechanics, the competence of mechanics, the availability of spare parts, and the implementation of condition monitoring was not optimal. While remedial steps can be taken by giving technical training program for mechanics as maintenance practice methodology.

Purpose Reliability plays an important role in the execution of the maintenance improvement and the understanding of its concepts is essential to predict the type of maintenance according to the equipment state. Thereby, a computational tool was developed and programming with VBA in Excel® for reliability and failure analysis in a mining context. The paper aims to discuss these issues. Design/methodology/approach The developed approach use the modeling of stochastic processes, such as the renewal process, the non-homogeneous Poisson process and less conventional method as the Bayesian approach, by considering Jeffreys non-informative prior. The resolution gives the best associated model, the parameters estimation, the mean time between failure and the reliability estimate. This approach is validated with the reliability analysis of inter-failure times from underground rock bolters subsystems, over a two-year period. Findings Results show that Weibull and lognormal probability distribution fit to the most subsystems inter-failure times. The study revealed that the bolting head, the rock drill, the screen handler, the electric/electronic system, the hydraulic system, the drilling feeder and the structural consume the most repair frequency. The hydraulic and electric/electronic subsystems represent the lowest reliability after 50 operation hours. Originality/value For the first time, this case study defines practical failures and reliability information for rock bolter subsystems based on real operation data. This paper is useful to the comparative evaluation of rock bolter by detecting the weakest elements and understanding failure patterns in the individual observation subsystems on the overall machine performance.

Abstract:
Introduction. Currently, hydraulic equipment for telescopic boom equipment is widely used as working equipment for road, construction, hoisting-and-transport and mining machines. However, not all sides of the dynamic loading of the telescoping hydraulic cylinder have been studied. Research aim. The aim of the work is to study the loading of the telescoping hydraulic cylinder (MTC) taking into account the interaction with the telescopic boom during normalized rotation of the boom equipment and during subsidence of the supporting surface of the hoisting machine during the rotation of the working equipment. Methodology. To study the dynamic loading of the MTC, numerical modeling is carried out in the environment of the specialized Motion functional (complex dynamic and kinematic module) of the SolidWorks software package and the SolidWorks Simulation finite element calculation module. Results. The nature of the loading of the MCP elements was established: the time dependences of the angular displacements of the pistons, as well as the forces of counteraction of the shelves of the sections with the MTC, the walls of the sections with the trunnions of the MTC, the piston with the sleeve of the MTC in the horizontal and vertical planes were obtained. The diagram of the stress-strain state of the MCP under normalized and non-normalized loading is established. Design schemes for loading the section and the central heating circuit in the horizontal and vertical planes are developed. Conclusions. The results will improve the reliability of the MTC during operation, increase the reliability of the description of changes in the technical condition of the MTC, more reasonably determine the overhaul periods, and clarify the values of the diagnostic parameters, which contributes to the improvement of the system of maintenance and repair, as well as the design of the MTC.

Annotation Purpose. Improving the efficiency of the use mobile agricultural machinery by substantiating the rational terms of its maintenance and repair, taking into account changes in its technical condition from seasonal loading, natural-production and agrometeorological conditions of use. Methods. System analysis and synthesis, induction and deduction, system-factor and system-event approaches, graphic, statistical. Results. The conceptual provisions of strategy adaptive maintenance and repair mobile agricultural machinery are revealed, as well as its advantages over the known approaches to the organization of repair and maintenance works are marked. The regularities of seasonal loading of mobile agricultural machinery in farms of different natural-production zones of Ukraine analyzed. A generalized algorithm of the strategy of adaptive maintenance and repair of mobile agricultural machinery has been developed. Conclusions 1. It’s established that the main factors that determine the need for maintenance and repair of equipment are its residual life and operating time, and the factors that determine the possible periods of maintenance and repair of equipment – natural-production and agrometeorological characteristics of the agricultural producer. Predicting the impact of these factors on the processes of using mobile agricultural machinery is the basis for justifying the rational timing of its maintenance and repair. 2. The formation of strategy adaptive maintenance and repair of mobile agricultural machinery based on statistical simulation of the processes of seasonal use of machinery by agricultural producers. Such a model should take into account the natural-production characteristics of the agricultural producer, the characteristics of its technical support, agrometeorological conditions and generate technical and economic indicators of many possible options for adaptive plans for seasonal maintenance and repair of each unit. 3. It’s established that the criterion for substantiation of a rational seasonal adaptive plan for maintenance and repair of mobile agricultural machinery is the minimum total cost of implementing the relevant strategy. The total cost of funds should take into account the cost of maintenance and repair of machinery, the cost of potential crop losses caused by late performance of mechanized agricultural work machinery due to its incapacity, and cost due to underutilization of technical resources. Work job orders for 196 seed drills collected by HADCO (Hail Agricultural Development Company), Saudi Arabia, were used in this study. The work job orders were classified in terms of the parts used and the cost of each item. Distribution of repair and maintenance as listed in the work-job orders was classified as repairs by 55% while 45% was found to be maintenance. Moreover, Classification of repair and maintenance for parts of seed drills was 66% for rapair jobs and 34% for manitinance jobs. Cost ratio term was developed, by dividing the repair or maintenance cost by the seed drill purchase price. The results indicate that the average cost ratio was affected by annual working area. Also repair and maintenance cost decreased as increasing the number of seed drills every year, and due to the increasing number of working area, the costs increased after about 430 ha/year.

Modern machines are subject to progressive wear that occurs at different rates, which leads to unpredictable failures that reduce the reliability and durability of machines. The strategy of maintenance and repair is aimed at eliminating these problems. (Research purpose) The research purpose is in analyzing the basic principles of the strategy of maintenance and repair of agricultural machinery in order to ensure control of the technical condition of machine parts. (Materials and methods) When resource diagnostics is used, , the allowable value of the parameter is set in advance for a part . This value is the tolerance that corresponds to a certain wear rate of the part. The tolerance is set based on the condition that if the current value of the controlled resource parameter during the next diagnosis is less than the set value, then such a part at the current value of the wear rate can be finalized until the next inter-control check. Taking into account the wear rate of the same type of parts from the group when determining the allowable wear during their resource diagnostics becomes an urgent task. (Results and discussions) As a result of research, the article presents "Methodology for determining the main indicators of reliability of parts of agricultural machines with different wear rates" and "Methodology for determining the tolerance system of parts of agricultural machines with different wear rates". (Conclusions) The article presents the tolerance system that reduces the probability of failure of machine parts in operation. During resource diagnostics, those parts whose resource parameters exceed the tolerance are rejected.

Abstract Underground extraction of coal is characterized by high variability of mining and geological conditions in which it is conducted. Despite ever more effective methods and tools, used to identify the factors influencing this process, mining machinery, used in mining underground, work in difficult and not always foreseeable conditions, which means that these machines should be very universal and reliable. Additionally, a big competition, occurring on the coal market, causes that it is necessary to take action in order to reduce the cost of its production, e.g. by increasing the efficiency of utilization machines. To meet this objective it should be pro-ceed with analysis presented in this paper. The analysis concerns to availability of utilization selected mining machinery, conducted using the model of OEE, which is a tool for quantitative estimate strategy TPM. In this article we considered the machines being part of the mechanized longwall complex and the basis of analysis was the data recording by the industrial automation system. Using this data set we evaluated the availability of studied machines and the structure of registered breaks in their work. The results should be an important source of information for maintenance staff and management of mining plants, needed to improve the economic efficiency of underground mining.

Abstract:
Abstract The main task of the maintenance services in hard coal mines is to ensure continuous operation of the equipment (machines). The measurable effect of these actions should be the reduction of maintenance costs of equipment (machinery) and thus the reduction of production costs – coal mining. The paper presents an issue of failure rate of technical measures applied in the mining process. In order to ensure greater efficiency and productivity, it is necessary to find the causes of the most frequent failures in this process and effectively counteract them. As a result of these activities, the production availability of machines/equipment involved in the mining process will increase. This will to a large extent ensure failure-free and uninterrupted progress, increase productivity and improve the quality of manufactured products, as well as reduce the operating costs of equipment (machines), and thus reduce production and product costs. This effect should consist mainly in the control of rational, safe and effective use and operation of equipment (machines) in the exploitation process. An algorithm implemented in one of the hard coal mines was presented. The technical condition of underground mining equipment was observed by periodical measurements of vibration parameters at selected points on the machine – measurements were conducted with a vibration pen. The aim of this research is to improve the reliability of technological process of a mining plant through its failure-free operation. In order to achieve this objective, i.e. the efficiency of a mining company, it is necessary to reduce its costs. The action that leads to this aim is a proper assessment of the technical condition with regard to the equipment used in technological process.

Abstract:
Introduction. The aim of the study is to develop the basic principles for digitalization of the processes of providing the diagnostics and repair of agricultural machinery. Materials and Methods. The specifics of agricultural machinery functioning are work in worst-on-worst operating conditions, such as significant abrasive contamination (soil particles, dust and other substances), operation in the conditions of exposure to natural climatic conditions, intensive use during the work shift and other factors that result in a regular need for testing and repairing. These factors significantly extend the time of maintenance and repair works. The study of the information environment for planning the distribution of agricultural machinery by repair enterprises has showed that the methods of this activity are not sufficiently developed. The authors propose a solution to the problem of rational distribution of agricultural machinery for repair and rehabilitation. Results. This article describes the main principles for developing structural relationships of databases used to find rational solutions for organizing repair and rehabilitation of agricultural machinery. Due to the fact that the solution of such a problem is time-consuming and is carried out under conditions that dynamically change over time, a mathematical model for the production environment of repair organizations is proposed, which is implemented by means of computer technology. The requirements for models describing the state of the production system of repair organizations are defined. A model of a generalized production system is proposed. Discussion and Conclusion. The model developed by the authors allows increasing the automation level of processes of distributing agricultural machinery by repair enterprises. The implementation of a new approach to planning repair works and distributing repairable agricultural machinery by repair enterprises will increase the efficiency of repair works, improve their quality parameters, reduce time, and optimize the structure of technological equipment of repair enterprises.

Supporting metal structures of large dump trucks at open cast coal mines function under exposure to alternating cyclic load. Fatigue cracks that appear there require timely maintenance welding. Organization of repair processes is multivariant; it can be performed either by the enterprise (open cast coal mine) efforts or by special repair units. An industrial experiment carried out at Permyakovskiy and Prokopyevskiy open cast coal mines in Kuzbass has shown that type of large dump trucks’ repair works organization influences significantly process efficiency. Repair welding by enterprise efforts is the most non-productive compared to other types of repair process organization. Its specific rate is 37 per cent lower than in comparison with unstructured welding and 2.2 times lower in comparison with structured metal sheet replacement and structured welding. Structuring repair processes allows to increase their efficiency by 30...40 per cent on average. Structured replacement of the spring plate is the most productive type of metal structure repair process organization. Comparison of maintenance measurement results in accordance with Unified Norms and Prices collected book with the results obtained from the industrial experiment showed that calculation methods give underestimated values of repair processes’ specific rate.

Abstract:
Ships have a wide variety of machinery available onboard that is crucial for her sustenance at sea for prolonged durations. The machinery can be grouped into various plants, such as propulsion plant, air conditioning plants, power generation plants, etc., each having its own specific function. The plants in turn are composed of various systems which further comprise various types of machinery. There are redundancies built in at the plant level, as well as at the system and at machinery level, so as to improve the reliability of the ship as a whole. Planning of maintenance schedule, specifically for tasks which can only be undertaken in an ashore repair yard is a daunting task for the maintenance managers. The paper presents a NSGA-II (nondominated sorting genetic algorithm) based multi-objective optimization approach to arrive at an optimum maintenance plan for the vast variety of machinery in order to improve the average reliability of ship's operations at sea at minimum cost. The paper presents the advantages that can accrue from introducing short maintenance periods for a select group of machinery, within the constraints of mandatory operational time, over the method of following a common maintenance interval for all the machinery. The problem function in hand is nonlinear, multi-modal and multi-objective in nature. The search spaces for the problem is noncontinuous and the (multiple) variables, such as time interval for maintenance, serial number of equipment, number of minor maintenance actions, etc., are uncoded real parameters.

The article considers the current state of the system of maintenance and repair of agricultural machinery, shows the analysis of the existing system and its impact on the economic efficiency of production in the agro-industrial complex. The current state of instrumentation, electronics and computer technology can significantly increase and expand the possibilities of both diagnosing and forecasting based on it. The combination of these capabilities with the progress of agricultural machinery ensures its reliable, highly productive and economical operation. It is established that of great importance in the production of crop and livestock products is the qualified use of agricultural machinery, including its diagnosis, maintenance and technological maintenance and repair. The quantity and quality of the received production, its competitiveness, labor costs, fuel consumption and degree of influence on environment depend on quality and timeliness of carrying out service – diagnostics at technical and technological service. Improving the use of agricultural machinery and reducing the cost of its operation provides the use of technical diagnostics of machines as an information basis for the management of maintenance and repair processes. The practice of using diagnostic tools indicates the possibility of reducing operating costs. This is achieved by increasing the actual resource used, reducing the number of repairs and saving spare parts. To effectively apply existing diagnostics and development of new, engineering and technical workers of agricultural enterprises must have knowledge that reveals the fundamental side of the diagnosis. Measures of preventive influences which provide maintenance of necessary indicators of reliability and working capacity of cars during time of use are executed on a scientific basis, practical use and research of processes of wear and other deviations of details are developed.

Abstract:
Maintenance and repair of livestock machinery and equipment is carried out as a rule by specialized repair and service enterprises on the basis of service contracts in accordance with the procedure established by law. However, with the renewal of the park’s farms with machines and equipment with automated and computerized process control, as well as the reconstruction of dairy farms and complexes, it became necessary to have a production base and highly qualified specialists for the maintenance of equipment. The most important and key provisions of the improved methodology of planning and accounting of work in the technical service of animal husbandry with the use of a number of standards are given, some features of accounting and planning of these types of work have been noted. The concepts of “repair unit” and “category of complexity of technical service” have been defined. The general provisions of the methodology for calculating costs and determining the cost of carrying out maintenance and repair of livestock equipment have been considered. On the base of calculations, the average total cost standards for carrying out maintenance and repair of livestock equipment have been established. These standards greatly simplify the planning of costs during the operation of equipment, and also allow us to determine the cost of maintenance and repair at different stages of the creation of new machines.

Machine field services depend on sensor-driven management systems that provide alerts, alarms and indicators. At the moment the alarm is sounded, it’s sometimes too late to prevent the failure. There is no alert provided that looks at degradation over time. If we could monitor degradation, then we would forecast upcoming situations, and perform maintenance tasks when necessary. In our research we chose to focus on intelligent maintenance system, which is defined as the prediction and forecast of equipment performance. Predictive maintenance, on the other hand, focuses on machine performance features. Data come from two sources: sensors mounted on the machine to gather the machine feature information, and information from the entire manufacturing system, including machine productivity, past history and trending. By correlating data from these sources — current and historical — predictions can be made about future performance. In this article case study of coal mining machinery health prediction is presented. Health of water pumping unit was considered. Such units placed in old mine shafts are crucial to avoid flooding working ones. As an effect of predictive maintenance it can be possible to improve safety and reduce costs incurred from accidents.

Abstract:
The article presents information on the technological characteristics and industrial use of chroming electrolytes. The modern electrochemical technologies of repairing worn-out parts of agricultural machinery are considered. Particular attention is paid to the use of chrome plating methods making possible to increase the durability and reliability of the parts recovered in electrolytes of different composition, allowing to obtain coatings with high physical-mechanical properties that determine their suitability for the operation in the process of use for their intended purpose. The use of self-regulating dilute chroming electrolytes makes possible to increase the productivity of the deposition process of chromium coatings significantly, to obtain high-quality coatings of chromium and iron, and high adhesion to the base material - carbon, alloyed steels, and cast iron. The deposition of metals using reverse, pulsed currents with adjustable anodic-cathodic ratio of amplitude values and its duration allows to influence electro crystallization, control the structure, texture and roughness of the formed precipitate, which makes possible to get with predetermined functional physical and mechanical properties for specific repair conditions and subsequent operation in agricultural machinery. The following modes are recommended for brilliant coatings: when reverse current τ (cat) / τ (an) = 50-70, τ (cat) = 4-7 min, D(cat) = 40-100 А / dm2, D(cat) / D(an) = 3-4, Т = 60-65 ° С; when impulse current D(cat) = 40-100 А / dm2, Т = 60-65 ° С, τ (imp) = 1.5-2.5 min, τ (pauses) = 5-10 sec., impulse ratio 1.07-1.15.

Abstract:
The expansion of services and technological equipment applied to the agribusiness sector grows year after year, e.g., tractors and agricultural machinery, which use systems shipped with sophisticated software that collaborate to aid, and optimize activities in the field. Maintenance of agricultural machinery, including tractors, is routine in the life of any farmer, especially the preventive and corrective maintenance. In this paper, the objective was to evaluate an alternative for the use of diagnostic software in the prediction of failures that may occur in the tractor clutch system. In this study, the PicoScope6 software was used to identify the failures in this system, and then, using the predictive maintenance phase, was compared with classic maintenance methods, allowed for estimating the necessary repair time. Results showed that software identified more precisely the mechanical components that presented failures. From the identification of failure components, a list of repairs and exchanges was estimated, and, when compared to the list of components generated by inspection without diagnostic software, the repair time was reduced by 88%, and the cost of repair in up to 93%. The availability of the equipment also increased as a result of the shorter repair time, thus maximizing the machine time in the field.

Abstract:
Each agricultural producer is always faced with the problem of how long complex agricultural equipment should be used, when it will be the need to buy a new one, or in general, when the need is to switch to a new direction. Complex agricultural machinery is expensive, maintenance and re-pairs of it are expensive as well, and our market economy is unpredictable. The solution to this problem is considered on the example of winter wheat harvesting with a self-propelled fourth-class combine harvester. The following theoretical prerequisite for solving the abovementioned problem is proposed. An agricultural producer purchased a combine harvester for 5 million rubles, and then the costs associated with its operation are summed up over the years: for fuels and lubricants, wages for machine operators, costs for repair and maintenance of the combine, costs for spare parts, cultivation and grain harvesting, taxes, etc. After the fifth year of operation already, according to the in-structions, the combine harvester requires overhaul, and the costs of repair and maintenance are growing over time. The profit of an agricultural producer is formed as the difference between costs of the sale of grain. Over time, the productivity of the combine harvester decreases and at some point the operation of the combine becomes unprofitable; this is the point of obsolescence of the machine, when the agricultural producer must decide either to buy a new harvester or to change his business.

Abstract:
An effective technique in the improvement of wear resistance and resource especially wornout friction is provided in the surface parts of anti-friction tribological coatings of various compositions entered in the regular lubrication maintenance of machines and equipment [1, 5, 7–10, 12–17]. Approved since 1930 [10] they during maintenance of machinery and equipment allows 2–3 times to increase their service life, 5–20 % reduced consumption of fuel and electricity, up to 30 % operating costs [7, 9, 10, 13, 14]. Introduction to oil chemically active substances, suspensions of particles of natural and artificial minerals, the oil solutions of the active organic substances, metal salts of organic acids [7, 17], the electric charge consumption less than 1 W [4, 6, 11], creating a wear-reducing coating [2, 5, 8, 12, 15–17], enhance adhesion of the lubricant is technically and economically justified, with a margin of 500–800 % or more [1, 3, 5, 7–10, 12–17]. CIP technical service as part of the overall system of technical maintenance and repair of machines, meets all the periods of their life cycle, and includes the testing, diagnosis, commissioning and preventive triboactive, the cleaning of the lubrication systems of engines, fuel, cooling, and most importantly — the restoration of worn units repair-regenerative trains [5, 7–10, 12–14, 17]. In the last intake of the mineral particles of the catalytically active open friction surface are subjected to a mechanical cold deformation, are involved in adhesion, physical and chemical processes, tribromoimidazole, catalysis of tribo-processes [2, 15–17]. As a result of the repair coating [2, 5, 12, 15–17]. The serpentine triboactive create a durable anti-friction coatings [2, 15–17]. According to research by European and American researchers [15, 16], especially in Chinese state laboratory of Tribology of Tsinghua University [17], these minerals cause the formation of diamondlike carbon fi lms (Diamond-Like carbon fi lms — DLC-fi lms). Their surface is high purity and hardness, underneath are visible traces of mechanical processing, for 90 % consist of carbon, the resistance of 10–300 Ohm/cm. The eff ect of serpentine processing is manifested through the hours and ability to operate even without triboactive [2, 10]. Below are the laboratory tribotechnical tests of triboactive and fi ling of charges in the oil, which confi rm the eff ectiveness of non-traditional tribology.

Abstract:
The paper considers conditions of mining machinery electric drives operation and analyzes the causes of insufficient reliability. To improve the reliability and efficiency of induction motors the authors propose the computer system designed for dynamic identification of electric motors to monitor their parameters and variables, which are estimated on operating equipment in real time. Operation of the system allows calculating unmeasurable quantities and is based on the mathematical model of the induction motor as well as mathematical methods of estimation and the information contained in the measured phase voltages and currents of the stator. For dynamic mode the mathematical model of the motor’s state and the measurement part were developed and certain results were obtained. Real-time information can be used for both control and management of electric motors, function testing, protection, forecasting as well as acceptance testing of electric motors in mining machinery electric drives to identify their individual data and quality control of the industrial processes in the manufacture or repair of motors.
