Background: Rotation flaps are arcuate repairs that redistribute tension vectors and recruit adjacent and/or distant tissue laxity. The incision curve could be a logarithmic spiral curve to reduce the length of an incision. We propose a rotation flap—the golden ratio flap—designed using a golden rectangle. Methods: The flap incision is an arc though the major square which is beside the minor square of a golden rectangle. The defect is attached to the line of another minor square and diagonal to the major square. The bottom line runs from the incision end to the tangent point of the circle or t

Abstract:
The High Temperature engineering Test Reactor (HTTR) in Japan is a 30 MWth helium-cooled graphite-moderated reactor. Similar to most light water reactors (LWRs), the HTTR was designed to burn low-enriched UO2 fuel. Due to its superior safety features and ultra-high burnup tolerance of the coated fuel particles, it is deemed interesting to explore the possibility and performance of burning plutonium and minor actinides (PuMA) in HTTR. A detailed HTTR core model was established using the MCNP5/X Monte Carlo code with ENDF/B-VII cross-section library. The model has also routed for validation by p

Abstract The effects of nozzle orientation on the mixing and turbulent characteristics of elliptical free twin jets were studied experimentally. The experiments were conducted using modified contoured nozzles with a sharp linear contraction. The centers of the nozzle pair had a separation ratio of 5.5. Four nozzle configurations were tested, one twin jet orientated along the minor plane (Twin_Minor), one twin jet orientated along the major plane (Twin_Major), one single jet orientated along the minor plane (Single_Minor) and one single jet orientated along the major plane (Single_Major). Abstract:
This report summarizes the work completed in Year One of the three-year project: PRCI SCC-2-12 Effect of Pressure Fluctuations on Growth Rate of Near-Neutral pH SCC. The investigation in Year One has been primarily focused on the validation of the software being developed for crack growth and remaining life prediction using SCADA Data. A total of 9 pressure spectra, 4 for oil pipelines and 5 for gas pipelines, have been collected and used as inputs for the software. It was found that a pressure spectrum can be quantified using a parameter termed as Spectra Factor to represent the severity of l

This report summarizes results of a horizontal gas storage well field experiment at the Howell Storage Field in Howell, Ml. A new horizontal well was successfully drilled in the Niagaran formation offsetting a vertical well on the same location. TVD was 3914 ft; Measured depth was 6271ft, including 967 ft in the turn (616-ft radius) and a 2000-ft lateral. The lateral was held within a 10-ft window over the entire 2000-ft length. The horizontal well was drilled on schedule and within budget Minor problems, typical of all drilling operations, were handled without serious impact. The research obj

Understanding the air void content in concrete is crucial since it significantly influences the durability and strength of the material, especially in environments susceptible to freeze-thaw cycles. This report introduces an advanced nondestructive testing (NDT) method for the in-situ detection of air voids in concrete by employing diffusive ultrasound. Focusing on the ultrasound attenuation coefficient, this research established a strong correlation with key air void metrics, including the volumetric ratio and spacing factor, as outlined in ASTM C457. The study also undertook a comparative an

Abstract:
This study presents a major development to the wave method, a methodology used for structural identification and monitoring. The research team tested the method for use in structural damage detection and damage localization in bridges, the latter being a challenging task. The main goal was to assess capability of the improved method by applying it to a shake-table-tested prototype bridge with sparse instrumentation. The bridge was a 4-span reinforced concrete structure comprising two columns at each bent (6 columns total) and a flat slab. It was tested to failure using seven biaxial excitation

Abstract:
The tomato, a profitable vegetable crop in both the USA and Israel, has benefited significantly from intensive breeding efforts in both countries, and elsewhere (esp. Holland). : Modem hybrids are highly prolific and resistant to a variety of major pests. They produce attractive, firm fruit for both processing and fresh-marketing. In all cases, however, reduction in flavor and aroma have occurred concomitantly with the increase in yield. Sugars-acids ratio dominate fruit taste, whereas aroma volatiles (potent at minute ppb and ppt levels) contribute to the total characteristic tomato flavor. A

Abstract:
Besides new material solutions, innovative processing technologies are key for working towards a more sustainable future for bead foam products. Compared to standard steam chest molding, innovative radio frequency (RF) welding shows great potential based on its direct energy input, which results in reduced energy consumption. Thus, the present study provides fundamental insights into the correlation of dielectric properties of expanded thermoplastic polyurethane (ETPU) bead foams with the processing behavior. In 2020, WWF launched a consumer guide on plant-based products targeting Swedish consumers. The development of the guide is described in a journal paper (Karlsson Potter & Röös, 2021) and the environmental impact of different plant based foods was published in a report (Karlsson Potter, Lundmark, & Röös, 2020). This report was prepared for WWF Sweden to provide scientific background information for complementing the consumer guide with information on coffee, tea and cocoa.
