Abstract:
We have investigated how ion irradiation can selectively promote the formation of dense sp3-bonded cubic boron nitride (cBN) over the graphite-like sp2-bonded phases. We have conducted a series of experiments using ion-assisted pulsed laser deposition in which either the ion mass (mion) or ion energy (E) was varied in conjunction with the ratio of ion flux to depositing atom flux (J/a). For a fixed ion energy and mass, there is a critical J/a above which cBN formation is initiated, a window of J/a values in which large cBN percentages are obtained, and a point at which J/a is so large that the resputter and deposition rates balance and there is no net film deposition, in agreement with Kester and Messier. As do Kester and Messier, we find that cBN formation is controlled by a combination of experimental parameters that scale with the momentum of the ions. However, unlike Kester and Messier, we do not find that cBN formation scales with the maximum momentum that can be transferred in a single binary collision, as either incorrectly formulated by Targove and Macleod and used by Kester and Messier, or as correctly formulated. Instead we observe that cBN formation best scales with the total momentum of the incident ions, (mionE)1/2. We also consider the mechanistic origins of this (mionE)1/2 dependence. Computer simulations of the interaction of ions with BN show that cBN formation cannot be simply scaled to parameters such as the number of atomic displacements or the number of vacancies produced by the ion irradiation. A critical examination of the literature shows that none of the proposed models satisfactorily accounts for the observed (mionE)1/2 dependence. We present a quantitative model that describes the generation of stress during ion-assisted film growth. The model invokes a kinetic approach to defect production and loss. We apply a simplified version of the model to cBN synthesis, and find that it predicts an approximate (mionE)1/2 dependence for cBN formation.

Abstract:
The aim of this study was to develop a bioimaging probe based on magnetic iron oxide nanoparticles (MIONs) surface functionalized with the copolymer (p(MAA-g-EGMA)), which were radiolabeled with the positron emitter Gallium-68. The synthesis of the hybrid MIONs was realized by hydrolytic condensation of a single ferrous precursor in the presence of the copolymer. The synthesized MagP MIONs displayed an average Dh of 87 nm, suitable for passive targeting of cancerous tissues through the enhanced permeation and retention (EPR) effect after intravenous administration, while their particularly high magnetic content ascribes strong magnetic properties to the colloids. Two different approaches were explored to develop MIONs radiolabeled with 68Ga: the chelator-mediated approach, where the chelating agent NODAGA-NHS was conjugated onto the MIONs (MagP-NODAGA) to form a chelate complex with 68Ga, and the chelator-free approach, where 68Ga was directly incorporated onto the MIONs (MagP). Both groups of NPs showed highly efficient radiolabeling with 68Ga, forming constructs which were stable with time, and in the presence of PBS and human serum. Ex vivo biodistribution studies of [68Ga]Ga- MIONs showed high accumulation in the mononuclear phagocyte system (MPS) organs and satisfactory blood retention with time. In vivo PET imaging with [68Ga]Ga-MagP MIONs was in accordance with the ex vivo biodistribution results. Finally, the MIONs showed low toxicity against 4T1 breast cancer cells. These detailed studies established that [68Ga]Ga- MIONs exhibit potential for application as tracers for early cancer detection.

The station Vostok is on the polar cap at an altitude of about 3500 m. Vostok comprises a special complex for geophysical research together with accommodation and power generating facilities. Its location far inland at a high altitude provides a unique astroclimate. From 1958 to 1980, the mean annual temperatures were -55.3°C at Vostok, -49.3°C at Amundsen-Scott (S. Pole), and -11.3°C at Mirny (near the coast). Mirny recorded an average of 199 days/year with strong wind, Vostok only 3.2. The mean number of days/month with heavy cloud were 3.4 at Vostok, 4.0 at Amundsen-Scott, and 6.6 at Mirny. The number of days/year with little cloud: Vostok : 361, Mirny : 174.

Developing a biocompatible contrast agent with high stability and favorable magnetism for sensitive detection of malignant tumors using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) remains a great demand in clinical. Nowadays, the fine control of magnetic iron oxide nanoparticle (MION) sizes from a few nanometers to dozens of nanometers can be realized through a thermal decomposition method of iron precursors. This progress allows us to research accurately on the size dependence of magnetic properties of MION, involving saturation magnetization (Ms), specific absorption rate (SAR), and relaxivity. Here, we synthesized MION in a size range between 14 and 26 nm and modified them with DSPE-PEG2000 for biomedical use. The magnetic properties of PEGylated MION increased monotonically with MION size, while the nonspecific uptake of MION also enhanced with size through cell experiments. The MION with the size of 22 nm as a T2-weighted contrast agent presented the best contrast-enhancing effect comparing with other sizes in vivo MRI of murine tumor. Therefore, the MION of 22 nm may have potential to serve as an ideal MRI contrast agent for tumor detection.

The development of multifunctional nanoscale systems that can mediate efficient tumor targeting, together with high cellular internalization, is crucial for the diagnosis of glioma. The combination of imaging agents into one platform provides dual imaging and allows further surface modification with targeting ligands for specific glioma detection. Herein, transferrin (Tf)-decorated niosomes with integrated magnetic iron oxide nanoparticles (MIONs) and quantum dots (QDs) were formulated (PEGNIO/QDs/MIONs/Tf) for efficient imaging of glioma, supported by magnetic and active targeting. Transmission electron microscopy confirmed the complete co-encapsulation of MIONs and QDs in the niosomes. Flow cytometry analysis demonstrated enhanced cellular uptake of the niosomal formulation by glioma cells. In vitro imaging studies showed that PEGNIO/QDs/MIONs/Tf produces an obvious negative-contrast enhancement effect on glioma cells by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and also improved fluorescence intensity under fluorescence microscopy. This novel platform represents the first niosome-based system which combines magnetic nanoparticles and QDs, and has application potential in dual-targeted imaging of glioma.

Aim: To investigate potential of magnetite iron oxide nanoparticles (MION) to sensitize cisplatin-resistant ovarian cancer cells to cisplatin, which to the best of found knowledge has not been reported previously. Materials & methods: MION with a diameter of approximately 20 nm were synthesized, and characterized using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, powder x-ray diffraction and particle size analyzer. Results: The synthesized MION have increased reactive oxygen species levels and decreased glutathione levels in cisplatin-resistant ovarian cancer cells (OVCAR-3 and SKOV-3). Using MTT, capsase-3 activity and live/dead assays, capability of the synthesized MION to sensitize cisplatin-resistant ovarian cancer cells has been illustrated. Conclusion: Thus, for further investigations, the synthesized MION can be considered as a potent agent enabling much more effective cisplatin-based therapies for ovarian cancer.

Plastic debris makes up the majority of marine debris around the world, and pollution is a serious threat to marine wildlife. Threats represent two types of biological interactions with plastic: entanglement and ingestion. This paper describes interactions of seabirds with plastic in Mirny and draw the attention of researchers to the existing problem. In 2012/2013 and 2015/2016, year-round observations of the author were carried out at Mirny station and Haswell Islands (area of about 12 km2), east Antarctica. One case of entanglement of a molting adult Adélie penguin (Pygoscelis adeliae) in a fishing line was been identified; in addition to one case of an adult emperor penguin (Aptenodytes forsteri) mistakenly ingesting plastic braided rope and subsequently feeding it as part of a food lump to the chick, and two cases of macroplastics found in pellets of south polar skuas (Catharacta maccormicki). Registrations of entanglement and ingestion of macroplastic by seabirds in Mirny are rare. They signal to us about problem that needs to be included in the monitoring for the health of terrestrial biota of the Haswell archipelago.

Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) has gained wide interest in early accurate diagnoses due to the high resolution and low toxicity of magnetic nanoparticles. In order to develop potential alternatives of toxic Gd- or Mn-based chelating agents, we report the synthesis of water soluble ultra-small Fe3O4 nanoparticles by a modified co-precipitation method as T1-weighted positive contrast agents. The magnetic iron oxide nanoparticles (MIONs) were functionalized by polymer ligand dodecanthiol-polymethacrylic acid (DDT-PMAA) to enhance their colloidal stability. These MIONs have high longitudinal relaxivity (r1 = 8.18 mM−1·S−1) and exhibited good results in the in vitro and in vivo MR imaging. No toxicity was observed in cytotoxicity assay and histology toxicity analysis. The MIONs@DDT-PMAA(magnetic iron oxide nanoparticles @ dodecanthiol-polymethacrylic acid) present great potential as positive contrast agents for tumor diagnosis.

AbstractIn this work, a magnetic molecularly imprinted polymer (MION-MIP) was prepared for the recognition and extraction of sulfadiazine (SDZ). The acrylamide-based MIP was imprinted directly onto the surface of 3-(trimethoxysilyl)propyl methacrylate-modified magnetic iron oxide nanoparticles. The synthesized MION-MIP with a diameter about 100 nm possesses fast adsorption kinetics and high adsorption capacity. The results also indicated that a higher maximum adsorption capacity (775 μg g-1) was achieved by the synthesized MION-MIP. The Langmuir adsorption isotherm model was found to describe well the equilibrium adsorption data. The results from the competitive binding experiment showed that MION-MIP was not only selective toward SDZ but the adsorption of sulfamerazine was also dramatically high. SDZ and sulfamerazine have an almost similar substructure where these two compounds were only differentiated by one methyl group. To explain this result, a computational study was carried out. From a different level of calculation with semiempirical (PM3), Hartree-Fock (HF), and density functional theory (DFT) calculation, SDZ and sulfamerazine showed similar interaction energy and interaction mechanism with the acrylamide monomer. Therefore, both SDZ and sulfamerazine could have the same binding property with the MION-MIP.

Aim: To construct a long circulatory and sustained releasing H2S system and explore its protective effects on myocardial ischemia and reperfusion (I/R) injury. Materials & methods: Red blood cell (RBC) membrane-coated, diallyl trisulfide (DATS)-carrying mesoporous iron oxide nanoparticles (MIONs) (RBC-DATS-MIONs) were prepared and characterized. Cytotoxicity and cellular uptake were studied in vitro, followed by in vivo assessment of safety, distribution and effect on cardiac function following I/R injury. Results: RBC-DATS-MIONs exhibited excellent biocompatibility, extended circulatory time and controlled-release of H2S in plasma and myocardium. They exhibited superior therapeutic effects on in vitro hypoxia/reoxygenation models and in vivo myocardial I/R models, which involved various mechanisms, including anti-apoptosis, anti-inflammatory and antioxidant activities. Conclusion: This work provides a new potential platform for best utilizing the protective effects of H2S by prolonging its releasing process.

Abstract. The molecular composition and volatility of gaseous organic compounds were investigated during April–July 2019 at the Station for Measuring Ecosystem – Atmosphere Relations (SMEAR) II situated in a boreal forest in Hyytiälä, southern Finland. In order to obtain a more complete picture and full understanding of the molecular composition and volatility of ambient gaseous organic compounds (from volatile organic compounds, VOCs, to highly oxygenated organic molecules, HOMs), two different instruments were used. A Vocus proton-transfer-reaction time-of-flight mass spectrometer (Vocus PTR-ToF; hereafter Vocus) was deployed to measure VOCs and less oxygenated VOCs (i.e., OVOCs). In addition, a multi-scheme chemical ionization inlet coupled to an atmospheric pressure interface time-of-flight mass spectrometer (MION API-ToF) was used to detect less oxygenated VOCs (using Br− as the reagent ion; hereafter MION-Br) and more oxygenated VOCs (including HOMs; using NO3- as the reagent ion; hereafter MION-NO3). The comparison among different measurement techniques revealed that the highest elemental oxygen-to-carbon ratios (O : C) of organic compounds were observed by the MION-NO3 (0.9 ± 0.1, average ± 1 standard deviation), followed by the MION-Br (0.8 ± 0.1); lowest O : C ratios were observed by Vocus (0.2 ± 0.1). Diurnal patterns of the measured organic compounds were found to vary among different measurement techniques, even for compounds with the same molecular formula, suggesting contributions of different isomers detected by the different techniques and/or fragmentation from different parent compounds inside the instruments. Based on the complementary molecular information obtained from Vocus, MION-Br, and MION-NO3, a more complete picture of the bulk volatility of all measured organic compounds in this boreal forest was obtained. As expected, the VOC class was the most abundant (about 53.2 %), followed by intermediate-volatility organic compounds (IVOCs, about 45.9 %). Although condensable organic compounds (low-volatility organic compounds, LVOCs; extremely low volatility organic compounds, ELVOCs; and ultralow-volatility organic compounds, ULVOCs) only comprised about 0.2 % of the total gaseous organic compounds, they play an important role in new particle formation as shown in previous studies in this boreal forest. Our study shows the full characterization of the gaseous organic compounds in the boreal forest and the advantages of combining Vocus and MION API-ToF for measuring ambient organic compounds with different oxidation extents (from VOCs to HOMs). The results therefore provide a more comprehensive understanding of the molecular composition and volatility of atmospheric organic compounds as well as new insights into interpreting ambient measurements or testing/improving parameterizations in transport and climate models.

Oil spills are rare in Antarctica. They threaten flying birds and penguins. This is the first report on the interactions of seabirds with oil in the area of the Mirny Station (East Antarctica). The purpose of the study is to determine the total number of seabird species interacting with oil in and around the Mirny Station, to assess the extent of pollution and to identify the most important sites of interactions. Oil pollution is found on the ground, on the continental ice and, on the seawater surface, both directly in the Mirny and beyond. Five species of seabirds were in contact with oil. Oil pollution threats have been identified for breeding and molting Adélie Penguins (Pygoscelis adeliae) and vagrant Macaroni Penguins (Eudyptes chrysolophus). Less affected by oil pollution during the breeding season were tube-nosed bird species and skuas. The most important places of interaction of seabirds with oil are at Cape Mabus, on the islands of Zykov, Tokarev, and Stroiteley. Evidence of long-term oil pollution of the environment is indicative of the chronic nature of the impacts on the coastal ecosystem.

The porphyry kimberlite block (intrusive coherent kimberlite, after Scott-Smith, 2013) on the deep horizons of the Internationalnaya pipe is characterized by the lack of olivine macrocryst serpentinization, and the minimum degree of postmagmatic alteration in the matrix minerals. Garnet keliphitization and the composition of olivine and phlogopite outer zones are due to the interaction of deep minerals and the surrounding kimberlite melt at depth. The rapid melt crystallization contributed to the heterogeneous magma structure represented by the macrocryst (porphyry) and aphyric schlieren.

The barometric effect of cosmic ray neutron component was estimated on the example of the Antarctic station Mirny. We used hourly data from continuous monitoring of neutron component and data from a local weather station for 2007–2014. Wind speed at the station Mirny reaches 20–40 m/s in winter that corresponds to the dynamic pressure 5–6 mbar and leads to a 5 % error in variations of neutron component because of dynamic effects in the atmosphere. The results can be applied to detectors located in high-latitude and high-mountain regions where the wind speed can be significant.

Even though there are several studies on the biological applications of iron oxide nanoparticles, recent studies have shown that rod-shaped iron oxides are effective in magnetic hyperthermia (MHT) as therapeutic technique to treat cancer. This review focused on the synthesis and encapsulation of magnetic iron oxide nanorods (MIONRs) and their use in (MHT) and photothermal therapy (PTT) for cancer cells. Among the synthetic methods that have been used to prepare MIONRs, some could be used to precisely control the particle size of the as-prepared magnetic iron oxide nanoparticles (MIONs), while others could be used to prepare monodisperse particles with uniform size distributions. Some of the results presented in this review showed that magnetic oxide nanorods are more potent in MHT than polyhedral-shaped MIONs. The review shows that mixtures of polyhedral- and rod-shaped MIONs resulted in 59 and 77% cell death, while monodisperse MIONRs resulted in 95% cell death. It could thus be concluded that, for magnetic iron oxide to be effective in MHT and PTT, it is important to prepare monodisperse magnetic oxide nanorods.

Miody charakteryzują się wysokim potencjałem antyoksydacyjnym i zróżnicowanym składem chemicznym zależnym od pochodzenia (strefy klimatycznej) i gatunków roślin wykorzystanych przez pszczoły do ich wytworzenia. W niniejszych badaniach podjęto próbę wstępnej oceny przeciwbakteryjnych i przeciwgrzybiczych właściwości miodów pochodzących z Lubelszczyzny, jak i tych dostępnych lokalnie na rynku komercyjnym. Analizowano oddziaływanie miodów na najważniejsze drobnoustroje patogenne: paciorkowce, gronkowce koagulazododatnie (Staphylococcus aureus) i koagulazoujemne oraz na drożdżaka Candida albicans. Badane miody wykazywały wysoki potencjał antybakteryjny wobec paciorkowców oraz umiarkowany wobec gronkowców koagulazoujemnych. Nie zaobserwowano działania przeciwdrobnoustrojowego miodów zarówno wobec S. aureus, jak i C. albicans.

Estimation of barometric coefficient for neutron component of cosmic rays was performed for Antarctic station Mirny taking into account effect of dynamic pressure caused by wind in the atmosphere. Hourly data of continue monitoring of neutron component and data of the local meteo station have been used for the period 2007-2014. Wind velocity at the observatory Mirny reaches 20-40 m/s in winter that corresponds to dynamic pressure of 5-6 mb and leads to the error of 5% in variations of neutron component because of dynamic effect in the atmosphere. The results are interesting for high latitude and high mountain detectors, where affect Bernulli may be significant.

AbstractRussian (former Soviet) systematic studies of Antarctica by radio-echo sounding (RES) and ground-penetrating radar technique (GPR) were commenced in 1964. Since that time airborne RES surveys have covered about 5.5 × 106 km2 of the icy continent discovering remarkable geographic objects such as Subglacial Gamburtsev Mountains, and allowed studies of Filchner-Ronne Ice Shelf, Amery Ice Shelf and Lambert Glacier. Ground-based investigations during the 1990s and 2000s revealed the structure of the Lake Vostok area and surveyed along the Mirny to Vostok and Progress to Vostok traverse routes. GPR studies during the 2010s were to select the site for a new snow-runway at Mirny Station, with the resumption of the aviation after a 25 year hiatus.

Ear Training is a basic course in Music Education Program. The success levels of the students in this course positively affect both their major area courses and their professional achievement levels. In other words, Ear Training courses have a very important place in the training process of a qualified music teacher. However, when various research results are analysed, students' success levels for Ear Training are observed to be unsatisfying. Students' interests in the lesson, their out-of class activities, and the close monitoring of the students' improvement in the lesson are considered as key factors in this case. However, there are mid-term and final exams, not extra quizzes, to evaluate the students in the Ear Training lessons. Quizzes cannot be made because of the reasons such as the teachers' excessive course loads, and long and laborious evaluation processes of written exams. For this reason, the aim of the research is to determine the availability of the multiple-choice tests, which ease the evaluation process, in Ear Training written exams and to determine to what extent they affect the students' success levels in the written exams. In the research in which experimental model was preferred, pre-test and post-test model was used and multiple-choice tests and written exams were compared in terms of their effects on students' success levels of theoretical and practical interval, rhythmic and melodic dictation. SPSS 22 was used in the processing of the data and the results obtained with dependent sample t test were interpreted by the p<.05 level.As a result of the research, it is found out that the experimental group students given multiple-choice test method were more successful in each questions of the theoretical and practical interval, rhythmic and melodic dictation than the control group students given written exams and there was a significant difference according to p<.05 level for the experimental group. The results obtained in the research show that multiple-choice test method could be successfully used for Ear Training written exam and the method increased the students' success levels considerably. Moreover, it was concluded that multiple-choice test method shortened the evaluation process of the written exams and teachers could prepare quizzes with multiple-choice test methods and their evaluation process would be greatly short. ÖzetMüziksel İşitme Okuma Yazma MİOY Müzik Öğretmenliği Programındaki temel bir derstir. Bu ders kapsamında öğrencilerin başarı düzeyleri hem diğer alan derslerini hem de mesleki başarı düzeylerini olumlu yönde etkilemektedir. Yani MİOY dersleri, nitelikli müzik öğretmeni yetiştirme sürecinde çok önemi bir yere sahiptir. Ancak, çeşitli araştırma sonuçları incelendiğinde öğrencilerin MİOY dersi başarı düzeylerinin yetersiz bir seviyede kaldığı görülmektedir. Bu durumun oluşmasında öğrencilerin derse gösterdikleri ilgi düzeylerinin ve ders dışı çalışma süreçlerinin ayrıca öğrencilerin gelişim süreçlerinin yakından izlenmesi önemli etkenler olarak değerlendirilmektedir. Ancak, MİOY derslerinde öğrencilerin genel olarak vize ve final olmak üzere iki sınav ile değerlendirildiği ara sınavların genelde yapılmadığı görülmektedir. Ara sınavların yapılamamasında öğretmenlerin ders yüklerinin fazla olması ve klasik yazılı sınavı değerlendirme sürecinin uzun ve zahmetli olması vb. temel etkenlerdir. Bu sebeple araştırmanın amacı, değerlendirme sürecini önemli ölçüde kolaylaştıran çoktan seçmeli test yönteminin MİOY dersi yazılı sınavlarında kullanılabilirliğini belirlemek ve yöntemin öğrencilerin yazılı sınav başarı düzeylerini ne ölçüde etkilediğini tespit etmektir.Deneysel modelin tercih edildiği araştırmada ön-test son-test model kullanılmış ve çoktan seçmeli test yöntemiyle yapılan MİOY yazılı sınavlarıyla klasik yöntemle yapılan MİOY yazılı sınavları, öğrencilerin teorik ve uygulamalı aralık, akor, tartım ve ezgi diktesi yazma başarı düzeyleri üzerinden değerlendirilmiştir. Ulaşılan verilerin işlenmesinde SPSS 22 Programı kullanılmış, bağımlı örneklem t testiyle elde edilen sonuçlar p<.05 düzeyine göre yorumlanmıştır. Araştırma sonucunda, çoktan seçmeli test yönteminin uygulandığı deney grubu öğrencilerinin klasik yazılı yönteminin uygulandığı kontrol gurubu öğrencilerinden teorik ve uygulamalı aralık ve akor ayrıca tartım diktesi ve ezgi diktesi sorularının her birinde daha başarılı olduğu ve deney grubu yönünde p<.05 düzeyine göre anlamlı fark olduğu belirlenmiştir. Araştırma kapsamında ulaşılan bu sonuçlar, çoktan seçmeli test yönteminin MİOY yazılı sınavı kapsamında başarıyla uygulanabildiğini ve yöntemin öğrencilerin MİOY yazılı sınavı başarı düzeylerini kayda değer ölçüde arttırdığı sonuçlarına ulaşılmıştır. Araştırma sonucunda, çoktan seçmeli test yönteminin yazılı sınav değerlendirme süresini kayda değer bir ölçüde kısalttığı belirlenmiş ve bu sonuca dayalı olarak çoktan seçmeli test yönteminin MİOY derslerinde vize ve final sınavlarına ek olarak ara sınav değerlendirmelerinde kullanılması önerilmiştir.

Abstract. Iodine species are important in the marine atmosphere for oxidation and new-particle formation. Understanding iodine chemistry and iodine new-particle formation requires high time resolution, high sensitivity, and simultaneous measurements of many iodine species. Here, we describe the application of a bromide chemical ionization mass spectrometer (Br-CIMS) to this task. During the iodine oxidation experiments in the Cosmics Leaving OUtdoor Droplets (CLOUD) chamber, we have measured gas-phase iodine species and sulfuric acid using two Br-CIMS, one coupled to a Multi-scheme chemical IONization inlet (Br-MION-CIMS) and the other to a Filter Inlet for Gasses and AEROsols inlet (Br-FIGAERO-CIMS). From offline calibrations and intercomparisons with other instruments, we have quantified the sensitivities of the Br-MION-CIMS to HOI, I2, and H2SO4 and obtained detection limits of 5.8 × 106, 3.8 × 105, and 2.0 × 105 molec. cm−3, respectively, for a 2 min integration time. From binding energy calculations, we estimate the detection limit for HIO3 to be 1.2 × 105 molec. cm−3, based on an assumption of maximum sensitivity. Detection limits in the Br-FIGAERO-CIMS are around 1 order of magnitude higher than those in the Br-MION-CIMS; for example, the detection limits for HOI and HIO3 are 3.3 × 107 and 5.1 × 106 molec. cm−3, respectively. Our comparisons of the performance of the MION inlet and the FIGAERO inlet show that bromide chemical ionization mass spectrometers using either atmospheric pressure or reduced pressure interfaces are well-matched to measuring iodine species and sulfuric acid in marine environments.

Celem pracy była ocena wpływu wzbogacania miodu wielokwiatowego pierzgą na zawartość wybranych związków fenolowych oraz aktywność przeciwutleniającą. Materiał doświadczalny stanowiły miody wielokwiatowe oraz miody wzbogacane pierzgą pochodzące z trzech pasiek zlokalizowanych w południowej Polsce. W próbkach oznaczono całkowitą zawartość polifenoli oraz flawonoidów, całkowitą aktywność przeciwutleniającą, przeciwrodnikową w reakcji z DPPH• oraz zdolność redukcyjną metodą FRAP. Zawartość wybranych kwasów fenolowych oraz flawonoidów oznaczono metodą HPLC. Miody wielokwiatowe zawierały 41,66 ÷ 55,54 mg GAE/100 g związków fenolowych oraz 7,49 ÷ 13,05 mg QE/100 g flawonoidów. Wzbogacanie miodu pierzgą istotnie zwiększyło zawartość polifenoli i flawonoidów zależnie od pochodzenia próbki. Maksymalna zawartość związków fenolowych w miodach wzbogaconych pierzgą wynosiła 138,15 mg GAE/100 g, natomiast flawonoidów – 48,31 mg QE/100 g. Odnotowano również istotny wzrost zawartości poszczególnych kwasów fenolowych i flawonoidów w próbkach wzbogaconych pierzgą. Wśród oznaczonych kwasów fenolowych dominujący był kwas galusowy, którego maksymalna zawartość wynosiła 36,09 mg/100 g, a wśród flawonoidów – kempferol (maksymalnie 4,0 mg/100 g). We wszystkich przypadkach dodatek pierzgi do miodu istotnie wpłynął na wzrost jego aktywności przeciwutleniającej i przeciwrodnikowej oraz zdolności redukcyjnej. Aktywność przeciwrodnikowa wzrosła z poziomu 5,65 ÷ 17,71 % w miodach wielokwiatowych do 51,39 ÷ 82,17 % w miodach wzbogaconych. Zdolność redukcyjna wzrosła natomiast z poziomu 1,64 ÷ 6,99 μM Fe(II)/100 g do 11,96 ÷ 27,60 μM Fe(II)/100 g w przypadku miodów wzbogacanych pierzgą. Zaobserwowano istotną korelację liniową pomiędzy zawartością polifenoli ogółem a całkowitą aktywnością przeciwutleniającą i zdolnością redukcyjną.

Results of comparative complex investigation are provided for diamonds from primary bodies of Mirny kimberlite field, among which three groups are distinguished sharply differing by typomorphic features of crystals, related with three separated in time phases of diamondiferous magmatism (I — vein A-21; II— pipes Taezhnaya and Amakinskaya; III — pipes Mir, International, XXIII-rd CPSU Congress, Dachnaya and Sputnik). For the first earliest group low content of octahedral is typical, with prevalence of individuals of rhombic dodecahedral habit; the second group is noted for approximately equal ratio of octahedral and rhombic dodecahedral habit crystals; sharp prevalence of coarse-laminar crystals of octahedral and transitive from it to rhombic dodecahedral habit is characteristic for the third group of most high-productive diatremes. Utilization of typomorphic features of crystals for reconstruction of exogenous history of diamonds on the way from primary sources to the places of modern location in placers, for paleogeographial reconstructions of ancient productive thick layers' reconstructions and clearing out directions of diamondiferous material drift, which will promote prospecting of their primary sources, has important significance.

Significantly, the mechanism was demonstrated as a dynamic quenching process based on energy transfer. Taken together, these results showed the decreased fluorescence intensity of CdTe QDs implied satisfactory linear relationship with various concentrations of CA-MION ranged from 0.15×10-3 mol·L-1 to 4.5×10-3 mol·L-1. Overall, this study has provided the potential for preparing multimagnetic-fluorescent nanocomposites and further developing quantitative detections of multi-analytes.

AbstractDuring the summer field seasons of 1987–91, studies of central East Antarctica by airborne radio-echo sounding commenced. This scientific work continued in the 1990s in the Vostok Subglacial Lake area and along the traverse route from Mirny, and led to the discovery of 16 new subglacial water cavities in the areas of Domes Fuji and Argus and the Prince Charles Mountains. Twenty-nine subglacial water cavities were revealed in the area near Vostok, along with a feature we believe to be a subglacial river. Two subglacial lakes were discovered along the Mirny–Vostok traverse route. These are located 50 km north of Komsomolskaya station and under Pionerskaya station. We find high geothermal heat flux in the vicinity of the largest of the subglacial lakes, and suggest this may be due to their location over deep faults where additional mantle heat is available.

The samples were collected on the 1990 International Trans-Antarctica Expedition which crossed the continent from the northern tip of the Antarctic Peninsula to Mirny Station. The empirical relationships between the isotopes, temperature and elevation are computed. The slopes ofδD with respect to the surface temperature for the segments west (Patriot Hills-Vostok) and east of Vostok (Komsomolskaya-Mirny) are not significantly different to that observed between Dumont d’Urville and Dome C (Lorius and Merlivat, 1977) which are often used to interpret deep ice-core isotopic profiles. There is, however, a noticeable shift between the two regression lines with, for a given temperature, higher isotopic values west of Vostok. The deuterium excess valuesincrease sharply at 3000 m.a.s.l. on the plateau, confirming the results of Petit and others (1991).

AbstractThis paper presents the distribution of average δD andδ18O values for the top 1 m of surface snow for a large area of Antarctica. The samples were collected on the 1990 International Trans-Antarctica Expedition which crossed the continent from the northern tip of the Antarctic Peninsula to Mirny Station. The empirical relationships between the isotopes, temperature and elevation are computed. The slopes of δD with respect to the surface temperature for the segments west (Patriot Hills-Vostok) and east of Vostok (Komsomolskaya-Mirny) are not significantly different to that observed between Dumont d’Urville and Dome C (Lorius and Merlivat, 1977) which are often used to interpret deep ice-core isotopic profiles. There is, however, a noticeable shift between the two regression lines with, for a given temperature, higher isotopic values west of Vostok. The deuterium excess values increase sharply at 3000 m.a.s.l. on the plateau, confirming the results of Petit and others (1991).

Abstract:
W ostatnich latach rynek miodów importowanych rozwija się intensywnie, a ze względu na atrakcyjną cenę produkty importowane stanowią konkurencję dla miodów krajowych. W niniejszej pracy przeprowadzono ocenę jakości miodów importowanych dostępnych w lokalnych supermarketach na podstawie parametrów jakości miodu określonych w obowiązujących przepisach. Ponadto zbadano ich właściwości przeciwutleniające w porównaniu z miodami krajowymi. Badaniem objęto miody: akacjowy (3), lipowy (4), gryczany (4), wielokwiatowy (5), spadziowy (4). W zakresie analizowanych parametrów fizykochemicznych odstępstwa od wymagań jakości handlowej miodów obowiązujących w odpowiednich przepisach stwierdzono wyłącznie w odniesieniu do zawartości wody, 5-hydroksymetylofurfuralu (HMF) i liczby diastazowej, odpowiednio w: 15, 35 i 45 % próbek. Zawartość związków polifenolowych była dodatnio skorelowana z aktywnością przeciwutleniającą miodów, mierzoną jako zdolność do redukcji jonów żelaza (Ferric Reducing Antioxidant Power), zdolnością neutralizacji rodników DPPH, (Radical Scavenging Activity) oraz barwą miodu (odpowiednio: r = 0,847, 0,367 oraz 0,975). Badania wskazują, że miody importowane stanowią naturalny środek słodzący o znacznie niższej aktywności biologicznej w porównaniu z miodami produkowanymi na Podkarpaciu, które były przedmiotem wcześniejszych badań.

Antarctica is free of urbanisation, however, 40 year-round and 32 seasonal Antarctic stations operate there. The effects of such human settlements on Antarctic wildlife are insufficiently studied. The main aim of this study was to determine the organization of the bird population of the Mirny Station. The birds were observed on the coast of the Davis Sea in the Mirny (East Antarctica) from January 8, 2012 to January 7, 2013 and from January 9, 2015 to January 9, 2016. The observations were carried out mainly on the Radio and Komsomolsky nunataks (an area of about 0.5 km). The duration of observations varied from 1 to 8 hours per day. From 1956 to 2016, 13 non-breeding bird species (orders Sphenisciformes, Procellariiformes, Charadriiformes) were recorded in the Mirny. The South polar skuas (Catharacta maccormicki) and Adélie penguins (Pygoscelis adeliae) form the basis of the bird population. South polar skuas are most frequently recorded at the station. Less common are Brown skuas (Catharacta antarctica lonnbergi) and Adélie penguins. Adélie penguins, Wilson's storm petrels (Oceanites oceanicus), South polar and Brown skuas are seasonal residents, the other species are visitors. Adélie penguins, Emperor (Aptenodytes forsteri), Macaroni (Eudyptes chrysolophus) and Chinstrap penguins (Pygoscelis antarctica), Wilson's storm petrels, South polar and Brown skuas interacted with the station environment, using it for comfortable behavior, feeding, molting, shelter from bad weather conditions, and possible breeding. South polar and Brown skuas tend to be attracted to the station, while other Antarctic bird species are indifferent to humans. Birds spend part of the annual cycle at the station or visit it with different frequency, but they cannot meet their ecological needs there all year round. The study improves our understanding of the regularities of the phenomenon of urbanization of the avifauna in the polar regions of the planet Earth.

Abstract Magnetic nanomaterials have been widely used in various biomedical applications, which have seen accelerating interest since the breakthrough in the chemical synthesis of monodispersed iron oxide nanoparticles. Magnetic iron oxide nanoparticles (MIONs) possess excellent biocompatibility, and they can produce multiple physicochemical effects when exposed to magnetic fields. Due to this rapid development in MIONs for cancer diagnosis and therapy, it becomes necessary to present a comprehensive review paper from the biomedical engineering perspective. This review will present an overview of the recent synthesis methods used in the preparation of magnetic nanomaterials. We will then focus on the application of magnetic nanomaterials in imaging and therapy technology, and we will also evaluate their biosafety in vitro, in vivo, and clinical aspects. The therapeutic effects of magnetic theranostics, magnetocatalytic therapy, magnetically targeted therapy, and magnetothermal therapy under the guidance of imaging diagnosis will also be discussed in this review. Finally, we will briefly analyze the challenges of implementing magnetic nanomaterials as a nano-platform for imaging diagnosis and treatment, and we will also offer suggestions for future research in this field.

Di sebelah utara berbatasan dengan desa tejosari kecamatan laren,sebelah barat berbatasan dengan desa kawisto legi, sebelah selatan berbatasan dengan desa latukan dan di sebelah timur berbatasan dengan desa guci. Secara umum mata pencaharian warga desa sonoadi adalah petani, pedagang, pegawai dan lain-lain. Dan mayoritas pekerjaan warga desa sonoadi adalah petani beras dan petani jagung. Akan tetapi petani memiliki penghalang yaitu hama tikus, sawah di sekitas desa sonoadi diberi penjeba listrik yaitu aliran listrik di tepian sawah. Namun di area perkebunan petani tidak menggunakan setrum karena resiko berbahaya yang sangat tinggi, sehingga sering kali petani mengalami 20% gagal panen yang disebaban karena jagung sudah digigit tikus. Untuk tetap meningkatkan nilai ekonomi dari tanaman jagung, maka program kerja program studi teknik industri kelompok 7 kkn leguler ingin membuat inovasi supaya jagung bisa dimanfaatkan secara maksimal. Dengan memanfaatkan bonggol jagung sebagai mini coal sebagai pengganti bahan bakar, mengurangi limbah bonggol jagung dan menambah nilai ekonomis, dan juga sebaiknya pemerintah desa bisa melakukan peninjauan mendalam supaya dapat memberikan kemajuan dan keuntungan bersama baik untuk masyarakat maupun pemerintah
