Abstract:
Considering that during the last decade’s new technologies have emerged to replace paper as an information support, it is relevant to analyze the disposition of Portuguese consumers to start using digital documents. Hence the opportunity to investigate what motivates to adhere or resist to the use of digital documents, and analyze their trust and satisfaction level with the usage of digital documents instead of paper ones, filling a existent gap in the literature in the Portuguese context.. The methodology involved the utilization of two tools for data collection, interviews and queries. The interviews had a double purpose: understand the advantages and disadvantages of using digital documents for each type of considered consumer (individual and corporate); and contribute to the operationalization of the questionnaire. 18 interviews were conducted to individual consumers and 15 to corporate consumers, and 834 questionnaires were collected (validated) for analysis. The analysis of the collected information was made through descriptive analysis, hypothesis testing, correlation and clusters’ analysis. The results indicate that older people show a greater resistance to the usage of digital documents; people with a higher educational degree have a higher disposition to use digital documents; digital format is the most used by both of the considered types of consumers; corporate consumers display a higher trust and satisfaction in using digital documents than the individual consumers.

Abstract:
The paper pursues an investigation on an apocryphal text still underinvestigated by scholars: the Urbano, falsely attributed to Boccaccio. The first part focuses on its fortune in the Boccaccio’s canon, from the first edition of the Vocabolario della Crusca to the Boccaccio’s complete works edited in the Ottocento; furthermore, are pointed out its connections with the Libellus de Constantino Magno eiusque matre Helena, the main source of the plot, and with other genealogical medieval tales, such as the Libro imperiale and the Manfredo. The second part focuses on the manuscript tradition of the text, in order to demonstrate as its circulation in Quattrocento’s miscellaneous manuscripts of rhetorical texts in the vernacular, containing several texts by Boccaccio, has probably influenced the spurious attribution.

Abstract:
This paper reveiws the information which may be used by a potential enemy to detect and track an aircraft. In particular it is concerned with a passive approach by the enemy, namely the interception of acoustic, infra-red, visual and miscellaneous self-emissions. The origins of these emissions are described and means of eliminating them or reducing their intensity are discussed. Emphasis is placed on the impact of these so called stealth techniques on the design of the aircraft as a whole.

Abstract:
Exelon Nuclear has recently installed adjustable speed drives (ASD), or variable frequency drives (VFD), in place of the original motor-generator (MG) sets for their boiling water reactor (BWR) recirculation pumps at Quad Cities. This paper reviews expected versus actual performance of the drives and motors. The discussion focuses on energy savings, motor starting characteristics, control accuracy and stability, motor and cable thermal behavior; as well as, a comparison of actual supply system input harmonic measurements versus analysis results. Included in the review are a few operational lessons learned with regard to the startup process, input medium voltage low speed holds, loss of cooling water pump suction pressure, cooling system surge tank level indication, and other miscellaneous points of interest.

Abstract:
In this paper, we build a joint morpho-syntactic parser for Russian. We describe a method to train a joint model which is significantly faster and as accurate as a traditional pipeline of models. We explore various ways to encode the word-level information and how they can affect the parser’s performance. To this end, we utilize learned from scratch character-level word embeddings and grammeme embeddings that have shown state-of-theart results for similar tasks for Russian in the past. We compare them with the pretrained contextualized word embeddings, such as ELMo and BERT, known to lead to the breakthrough in miscellaneous tasks in English. As a result, we prove that their usage can significantly improve parsing quality.

In ASME 2003 9th International Conference on Radioactive Waste Management and Environmental Remediation. ASMEDC, 2003. http://dx.doi.org/10.1115/icem2003-4759.

Full text
Abstract:
Solvent wastes produced at Cernavoda NPP consist of miscellaneous acetone, toluene, methanol, chloroform, triclorethan, white spirit and ethylene glycol. These are normally LLW containing only relatively small quantities of beta/gamma emitting radionuclides and varying amounts of tritium with activity below E08Bq/l. This paper is a review of some current innovative work of Waste Management Facility from Institute for Nuclear Research Pitesti in the development of a viable solidification technology to convert solvent wastes into a stable monolithic form, which minimises the probability to release tritium in the environment during interim storage, transportation and final disposal. The paper presents the author’s research on immobilisation of solvent wastes by cementation using aluminium stearate additive. A quality assurance program should accompany the production of waste forms. The goal of all tests should be to obtain a license for a certain process from a competent authority. The process will be clean, which means there will be no secondary waste and low doses to the personnel will be achieved; the product quality will meet any National requirement and the reproducibility of the process meets any QA requirement.

In ASME 2012 31st International Conference on Ocean, Offshore and Arctic Engineering. American Society of Mechanical Engineers, 2012. http://dx.doi.org/10.1115/omae2012-83063.

Full text
Abstract:
Deepwater field developments are usually associated with large submarine packages to be installed such as suction anchors, manifolds and other subsea equipment. Key data for the lowering operation engineering are the added mass and drag coefficients of the package, which is usually a complex structure made of plates (mudmat, drop object protection…), piping and miscellaneous equipment. To extract these hydrodynamics coefficients, it is usual industry practice to consider the package overall volume or to sum the individual components coefficients which may lead to very different results. Experimental investigations on generic complex structures have been conducted within the CITEPH project “Offshore installation of heavy package – phase II”, with the aim of better understanding the hydrodynamics coefficients to be used for the design. This paper presents the work that has been performed during this joint industry project, in 2010/2011, with the support of TOTAL, TECHNIP, SAIPEM and DORIS Engineering, on shielding effect. In particular, model tests set-up and main results are discussed. The trends that have been found and the empirical laws that have been established as functions of dimensionless numbers are also presented.
