Abstract:
Este trabalho propõe uma leitura de dois livros do escritor japonês Yukio Mishima, Confissões de uma máscara, de 1949, e Sol e aço, de 1968, baseada no conceito de "espaço autobiográfico" formulado por Philippe Lejeune. Após uma breve apresentação da obra de Mishima, são analisadas as modalidades de contratos de leitura presentes nestes livros, destacando existência de "pactos autobiográficos" e "pactos fantasmáticos". Estavelecem-se também correlações da teoria de Lejeune com o conceito de "função-autor" de Michel Foucalt, e com algumas perspectivas da antropologia literária de Wolfgang Iser. Ao fim, lança-se a hipótese de que o livro Sol e aço pertença ao gênero dos "auto-retratos literários" tal como foi descrito por Michel Beaujour.

Abstract:
Esta tese articula duas frentes de investigação da obra do autor japonês Yukio Mishima, partindo daquilo que o crítico e tradutor americano Donald Keene chamou de o problema da individualidade na Literatura japonesa. A primeira relaciona-se com um espaço autobiográfico, conceito proposto por Phillipe Lejeune para se pensar uma imagem do autor através dos diversos textos que compõem sua obra e os distintos pactos de leitura que concorrem para a criação de tal imagem. Os livros Confissões de uma máscara (1948) e Sol e aço (1968) compõem o corpus por meio do qual se investigam modos de construção de imagens da individualidade segundo uma tensão entre a universalização da individualidade através da arte e a adoção de um modelo universal de herói através da ação. A segunda frente consiste na análise da tetralogia do Mar da Fertilidade (1970), da qual o tema da reencarnação constitui o fio condutor entre as quatro narrativas. O tema da reencarnação fornece-nos uma plataforma para a dramatização de algumas concepções imaginárias de individualidade. Nesta investigação sobre os dramas da individuação, fomos conduzidos a um debate sobre a teoria da ficção, ou dos atos ficcionais, de Wolfgang Iser. No caso específico da obra de Mishima, essa teoria permitiu sublinhar as diversas formas de transgressão dos limites da ficção performados na literatura desse escritor japonês. Em nossa leitura da teoria iseriana, o conceito de imaginário adquiriu posição central na compreensão do efeito estético da obra de arte literária. Tal conceito nos permitiu isolar certas matrizes estéticas da obra de Mishima explicitadas no livro Sol e aço, tratado segundo a perspectiva do autorretrato literário de Michel Beaujour.

Abstract:
Dans les œuvres de Marguerite Duras et dans celles de Yukio Mishima, (plus spécifiquement dans : leurs romans de l'aveu, leurs romans courts, leur théâtre ; à partir d'un corpus de traductions en ce qui concerne l'écrivain japonais), nous avons constaté l'émergence de la structure thématique récurrente de l'amour et de la mort. Grace au repérage du leitmotiv de la réapparition ou de la réincarnation, notre problématique a pu être formulée ainsi : amour et mort chez Marguerite Duras et Yukio Mishima? Ravissement ou extase ? De plus G. Bataille, pourrait être cette énergie commune qui propage ce sentiment de jouissance éprouvé au cours de chaque expérience de la vie y compris dans celle de la mort par suicide ou seppuku (suicide rituel japonais). L'hypothèse d'une contre-culture, favorisée par l'immersion de Duras en Indochine (durant dix-huit ans) et justifiée par une grande connaissance de la littérature européenne et de ses techniques romanesques nous a semblé permettre d'envisager l'Inde, (territoires fantasmatiques de certaines de leurs fictions) berceau du bouddhisme, comme l'entre-deux des sphères culturelles d'origine des deux écrivains. Ainsi, l'Inde en réduisant l'écart esthétique entre Duras et Mishima permettrait le dépassement et le déplacement de l'amour et de la mort vers le ravissement ou bien l'extase. La poursuite d'un vide lumineux illustre la quête de deux sujets souffrant d'incomplétude pour se réunir à la nature : le soleil et la mer, en vue d'une rencontre fusionnelle. Alors, la rencontre entre Duras et Mishima peut apparaitre comme un no moderne mettant en jeu le principe d'une réversibilité
In Duras and Mishima works (essentially) in theirs confessions short novels theater plays, (starting from translations for the Japanese writer), we notified love and death as the main thematic structure. Thanks to the leitmotiv of the reapparition and the reincarnation our approach has been turned into love and death, rapture and ecstasy. G. Bataille could be common energy for the two authors giving them that sensual pleasure in each experience of life even death : suicide or seppuku (ritual Japanese suicide) the hypothesis of second culture : Duras way of life in her childhood in Indochina and the European cultural knowledge of Mishima could reduce the distance between them. By the way, it could permit us to consider India as a go-between occident and japan. Then, Duras and Mishima appeared as if they were playing a modern no with reversibility because the waki (who is watching at) and the shite (who is watched by) are always exchanging their plays and their masks

Esta dissertação parte da investigação das obras Sol e aço (1968), do artista japonês Yukio Mishima (1925-1970), e A construção de um corpo pornográfico (2005) da artista belga Nathalie Gassel (1964). Ambos praticaram o fisiculturismo enquanto processo artístico a fim de construir uma obra de arte orgânica. Por meio da literatura, eles reconfiguraram essa prática e produziram um sentido de criação particular para ela. Em diálogo com estas obras, são utilizados conceitos e perspectivas provenientes das artes, da literatura, das ciências sociais e da filosofia, visando compreender como o trabalho desses artistas que têm por base o fisiculturismo pode problematizar as abordagens sobre o culto ao corpo e sua utilização como forma de arte.
This dissertation is based on the investigation of the books “Sun and Steel” (1968) by the Japanese artist Yukio Mishima (1925-1970) and “The construction of a pornographic body” (2005) by the Belgian artist Nathalie Gassel (1964). Both artists practiced bodybuilding as an artistic process in order to build an organic work of art. Through literature, they reconfigure their practice and produce a particular sense of creation for it. In dialogue with those books, concepts and perspectives from the arts, literature, social sciences and philosophy, in order to understand how the work of these artists, based on bodybuilding, can discuss the body culture approaches and its use as art.

La fine del secondo conflitto mondiale ha segnato in maniera incisiva le sorti del Giappone. Questi cambiamenti, non soltanto andarono a modificare l’assetto politico economico del paese, ma insediarono tra il popolo il problema della cosiddetta identità nazionale: da questo momento i giapponesi furono costretti a dover fare i conti con l’eredità che la loro sconfitta in guerra ha comportato. Il disagio dell’identità nazionale è una delle molte tematiche affrontate da Yukio Mishima che tentò con una milizia indipendente di risollevare l’esercito. Nel suo lavoro Yūkoku vengono toccati temi legati al periodo Edo: fedeltà alla patria, il codice etico del samurai, il suicidio spirituale, l’eros, il sangue. L’opera anticipò la morte teatrale dell’autore. Il presente lavoro è composto da tre capitoli principali: nel primo si delinea la situazione storico politica del Giappone del dopoguerra, analizzandone i cambiamenti che hanno inciso anche sulla letteratura, per terminare con una prima analisi introduttiva relativa il patriottismo giapponese. Il secondo capitolo tratta in maniera più approfondita la figura di Mishima concentrandosi sull’analisi di alcune sue opere, per poter meglio comprendere il valore che l’autore conferiva all’azione e gli ideali e le convinzioni che hanno spinto una figura così controversa all’attivismo sia intellettuale che militare, divenendo inoltre uno dei simboli più forti della “resistenza” dell’avanzare del modernismo. Il terzo capitolo è dedicato all’analisi approfondita dell’opera Yūkoku seguito dalle conclusioni.

Le sujet de la these porte sur la quete chez l'ecrivain japonais d'une identite virile, assimilee au corps guerrier et symbolisee par le phallus. Ayant voulu corriger le manque phallique - qui est le resultat de l'echec de la metaphore paternelle -, l'ecrivain a cherche dans un premier temps a metaphoriser dans le recit romanesque l'image virile de son corps. Mais comme le travail de l'ecriture n'est pas parvenu a pailler la carence de la fonction paternelle, yukio mishima n'a pas reussi a s'approprier le signifiant viril par la voie litteraire. Il s'est alors tourne vers l'action guerriere, definie comme moyen par lequel l'homme acquiert l'identite propre a son sexe. S'etant accroche sur le plan imaginaire a la figure heroique afin de se faire une idee de ce que c'est qu'etre un homme, il a ensuite voulu emuler le comportement heroique d'affronter courageusement la mort et vivre l'essence de la virilite qui, selon lui, reside du cote de la mort. Dans son ecriture et par le biais de l'action theatrale, l'auteur a tente de soutenir lui-meme l'ideal de son sexe, ce qui l'a incite a definir la virilite selon les preceptes de l'ethique guerriere, exposant par le fait meme le rapport paradoxal du sujet viril au langage et a la jouissance, ainsi que la dimension purement mythique (c'est-a-dire fictive) d'une identite guerriere constituee au moyen du dressage de l'homme par les instances de pouvoir, qui agissent comme les auteurs de l'imperatif belligueux sous-jacent a l'autre militaire
The topic of the thesis us centered on yukio mishima's quest of a male identity through his writings, and later through his own military actions. Virility, according to the author, is defined in terms of a combative ethics embodied in the image of the heroic soldier and symbolized by the phallus. As he was lacking the very signifier which constitutes it - in his works he perceives himself as lacking the name-fo-the father which should have transmitted to him the phallus-, y. Mishima attempted to constitute the image of his manliness through his novels. But he failed in his attempt and thereafter turned toward military action, defined accordingly as the only means for man to acquire his identity. The author grasped the notion of virility in purely imaginary terms, i. E. Not sympolically through the transmission by the father of the phallus but though his own perception of what it means to be a man. And as he held onto the image of the heroic warrior he emulated the ethics and actions of the romantic character, which brought him to attempt to die courageously as is dictated by militarist ideology. In his writings and through his actions, y. Mishima attempted to sustain the ideal of male virility. By doing so, he exposed the paradoxal rapport of the male subject to language and "jouissance", all the while pinpointing the mythical and fictitious dimension fo man's sexual identity

Notre thèse, « récit autoritaire, thème de la pureté et place du lecteur dans Yūkoku (Patriotisme) et Honba (Chevaux échappés) de Mishima Yukio » interroge les rapports entre littérature et idéologie dans deux textes qui sont parmi les plus controversés de l’écrivain Mishima : la nouvelle Yūkoku, qui est paru pour la première fois en janvier 1961, et Honba, le second volume de la tétralogie Hōjō no umi (La mer de la fertilité, 1965-1970) publié d’abord en feuilleton entre février 1967 et août 1968 puis en un seul volume en février 1969. La première partie de notre travail est consacrée à une lecture théorique de Yūkoku et de Honba sous l’angle du « récit autoritaire ». Mettant en scène des héros mythiques dévoués à l’empereur, opposant des personnages purs à des personnages impurs, les deux textes sur lesquels nous nous sommes penché correspondent schématiquement au genre du récit idéologique tel qu’il a notamment été décrit par Susan Rubin Suleiman dans Le roman à thèse ou l’autorité fictive (1983). Nombreux sont d’ailleurs ceux qui, au Japon comme en occident, ont fortement critiqué la dimension partisane (sinon sectaire) de ces récits. Dans la seconde et troisième parties de notre travail, consacrées respectivement à Yūkoku et à Honba, nous avons montré que ces deux textes sont plus complexes qu’une lecture cursive le laisse penser et qu’ils offrent des réponses originales au défi propre au récit à thèse (ou récit autoritaire) qui consiste à concilier l’idéologie (qui implique la monosémie, le manichéisme, la redondance) avec la littérature (qui implique la polysémie et l’ambiguïté). Le recours singulier et retors aux stéréotypes, les thèmes du nihilisme et du simulacre ou encore la complexité des procédés rhétoriques et manipulatoires présents dans ces textes offrent de nouveaux éclairages et champs de réflexion aussi bien dans le domaine de la théorie littéraire que dans celui des études sur Mishima
My thesis, entitled “Authoritarian Fiction, the Theme of Purity and the Place of the Reader in Yūkoku (Patriotism) and Honba (Runaway Horses) by Mishima Yukio”, questions the relation between ideology and literature in two of Mishima’s most controversial works: the short story Yūkoku, first published in January 1961, and the novel Honba, the second volume of Hōjō no umi (The Sea of Fertility, 1965-1970), serialized between February 1967 and August 1968, and published in one volume in February 1969. In the first part of my dissertation, I show that Yūkoku and Honba —by staging mythical heroes devoted to the Emperor, opposing pure and young characters to corrupted ones— schematically correspond to the genre of ideological novel as depicted in the seminal work of Susan Rubin Suleiman on French “roman à thèse” (Authoritarian Fictions, the Ideological Novel as a Literary Genre, 1983). In Japan as in the Western world, many critics have reacted adversely to the biased (if not sectarian) content of these texts. In the second and third parts of my thesis — the former devoted to Yūkoku and the latter to Honba — I unveil the complexity of these texts and show how they also provide original answers to authoritarian fiction’s specific challenge of reconciling ideology (which implies monosemy, manicheism and redundancies) with literature (which implies polysemy and ambiguity). The specific and twisted use of stereotypes, the themes of nihilism and simulacrum, or the complex rhetorical devices present in these texts offer new insights in both the fields of literary theory and Mishima studies

Abstract:
This thesis offers an analysis of some of the major novels of Mishima Yukio in the light of their underlying nihilist world-view. There are primarily three different levels to the analysis: philosophical, psychological and moral/political, to each of which a chapter is devoted. In the treatment of each of these "levels" the focus is not merely on the nihilism per se but on the aesthetic consequences of the nihilism in Mishima's art of fiction. An attempt is also made to place Mishima, as a "nihilist writer", within the international context of the nihilist literary/philosophical tradition, a tradition whose origins may be traced back to mid-nineteenth-century Europe. The analysis centres on what are, in the writer's view, Mishima's three major works—which also represent, coincidentally, the three separate decades of his literary career: Confessions of a Mask (Kamen no kokuhaku, 1949), The Temple of the Golden Pavilion (Kinkakuji, 1956) and The Sea of Fertility (Ho jo no umi, 1965-70), a total of six novels, since the latter work is a tetralogy. The study aims not to provide an all-inclusive survey of Mishima's career but to penetrate to the very core of his inspiration through an in-depth study of his most important works. Chapter One, "The Tragic Mask", begins with a general consideration of the relation between philosophy and the novel, or ideas and the novel, and offers a brief taxonomy of the "philosophical novel". Using this taxonomy, a description is then given of Mishima as a philosophic novelist whose central philosophy is nihilism. The main body of the chapter then offers an analysis of each of his three main works in terms of their nihilist philosophy, paying particular attention to its expression in "experiences of nothingness" which form the climaxes of the novels, and to the structural discipline which his use of this philosophy confers on the novels. Chapter Two, "The Void Behind the Mask", opens with a general discussion of the relation between nihilism and psychology, and then proceeds to a consideration of Mishima's own "nihilist psychology" and the "nihilist psychology" of his novels. Each of his major novels, whether explicitly "autobiographical" or more apparently "fictional", is found to be primarily an expression of the author's own "nihilist psychology". The active/passive tensions which characterize this psychology are analysed in Freudian, Adlerian and peculiarly Japanese terms. Chapter Three, "Hammer to Mask", opens with a general consideration of nihilist morality and politics, especially in terms of the "active nihilist" tradition which may be traced from Nietzsche down to 20th century fascism and terrorism. Mishima's own right-wing extremism and his glorification of terrorist violence place him squarely in this "active nihilist" moral/political tradition. But his "active nihilist" side was also continually in danger of being undermined by his "passive nihilist" side, his sense of the futility of all action. The resultant tensions are found to form the basis of the moral/political dialectic of his major novels.

Our work is concerned with perverse structure, essentially refering to a clinically Lacanian theory. Going over conceptual psychoanalytic contributions of fetish and denial, we will link them to a third proposition, in keeping with our hypothesis thesis : we only can understand the perversion when we analyse the structural link instituted by the perverse person with a Judeo-Christian God. We justify this proposition by clinical study of two intellectual persons : Italian cine-writer Pier Paolo Pasolini and Japanese writer Yukio Mishima. Portraying themselves as perversion theoriticians, by their acts of creation which are fantasy traces of their lives, we will see why they reveal their perversion structures

La muerte es un navegar de río, un navegar que hace de ese traslamiento una parte íntima del reconocimiento personal, un navegar continuo en el que uno mismo es el río.  Una  visión del budismo contempla la búsqueda del sendero que lleva hacia la permanencia, la estabilidad absoluta y equilibrada con el mundo. Este sendero es el camino, la vía de la iluminación, el río que fluye permanente. Yukio Mishima parece trasladarse aún a través de uno propio cuyas orillas apenas conocemos desde su obra y la belleza que emana de sus  páginas. Aprendamos a cultivar, a ver ese río, a fluir en nuestro largo y extenso camino.

Créant un genre nouveau, le nô moderne, l’écrivain a revitalisé ce théâtre en privilégiant son obsession du désir de mort. Abstract:
This thesis addresses the varying ways in which sexual desire is portrayed in a range of fictional works by Mishima Yukio. It presents a fresh examination of the central role that desire plays in Mishima's work, in the light of contemporary literary theory, particularly cultural materialism and queer theory. The works discussed include a number of Mishima's popular entertainment novels. The representations of aspects of desire, including same-sex desire, sadomasochism and heterosexual relationships outside marriage, are compared to contemporary writing on these in Japanese non-literary discourse, as well as earlier literary representations of, in particular, same-sex desire. The influence of sexology and psychoanalysis is examined, specifically in the forms in which these accounts of desire were communicated to the Japanese reading public in journalism of the period. The relation of Mishima's fiction to popular journalism in general is discussed, with reference to the kasutori magazines of the Occupation period and women's magazines of the high-growth era. Mishima's strategies for representing sexual desire for men are discussed, including his use of literary allusion and his portrayal of women as desiring subjects. Aspects of his narrative technique are identified as camp, in that they use borrowed cultural authority to express desire from a non-dominant subject position. The use of allusion in Forbidden Colours is examined to show how Mishima used allusion to elaborate paradigms for same-sex desire other than those available in contemporary discourse.

La figura di San Sebastiano, la sua vita e la storia del suo martirio hanno impressionato, influenzato e ispirato un vastissimo numero di autori e artisti nel corso dei secoli. San Sebastiano sembra essere il santo maggiormente rappresentato nella storia dell’arte. La figura e la storia del santo martire, nata per una più efficace evangelizzazione del messaggio cristiano, si trasmuta dunque nei secoli, divenendo nel Novecento simbolo fortemente legato all’omoerotismo e all’omosessualità. La sua iconografia ha nei secoli goduto di sempre maggior successo, tanto da essere particolarmente citata e presa come figura ispiratrice anche nel mondo letterario a partire, ad esempio, da Oscar Wilde (1854-1900) per la letteratura inglese, a seguire da Yukio Mishima (1925-1970) per quella giapponese e anche da Gabriele D’Annunzio (1863-1938) in quella italiana. Questi autori possono essere considerati i rappresentanti più iconici del movimento decadente dei rispettivi paesi di appartenenza. Il loro spirito di iniziativa, che rispecchia il superuomo nietzschiano, diverrà in realtà spirito di sacrificio. Tutti e tre gli autori, infatti, dimostreranno con le loro eclatanti azioni, la volontà di sacrificarsi per gli altri, per il popolo e la patria, realizzando, ognuno in diverse modalità, un vero e proprio martirio.

O presente trabalho tem como objetivo analisar duas traduções para o português da obra literária japonesa Kinkakuji, escrita por Yukio Mishima (1925-1970) e publicada em 1956, para fazer considerações sobre a tradução indireta e a interferência da versão intermediadora entre o texto-fonte e o texto-alvo, sob o ponto de vista do conceito de equivalência. Tratam-se da tradução realizada por Eliana Sabino (1988) a partir da versão em inglês por Ivan Morris (1959) e a tradução direta do japonês feita por Shintaro Hayashi (2010). Para esse objetivo, primeiramente, apresentamos um perfil geral de Mishima e suas obras; o romance Kinkakuji, considerando o seu contexto de criação e avaliação de críticos; e de um conceito de tradução indireta e diversas visões a respeito. Além disso, faremos uma apresentação da tradução da literatura de Mishima em português, nas tradições de tradução da literatura japonesa no Brasil. Será feita a análise cotejando as traduções acima referidas e o trabalho original em japonês, visando identificar as transformações ocorridas que impeçam os leitores da tradução de compreender o sentido da obra original. Como resultado, concluímos que tais deformações ocorrem na tradução indireta com maior frequência, mas ocorrem também na tradução direta, dificultando a transmissão do universo do romance elaborado pelo autor. Os resultados nos ajudaram a perceber que a tradução em inglês causa a deformação do texto original de certa forma e influi inevitavelmente na tradução indireta em português, porém, a tradução em inglês não é a única razão desta deformação. Na tradução direta em português, apesar de identificarmos alguns casos de deformação, observou-se que o tradutor teria se preocupado com a manutenção do estilo de estrita do autor do texto original, além do sentido textual. Podemos dizer, nesse caso, que o tradutor conseguiu produzir um texto mais próximo, sob o ponto de vista de manutenção da equivalência, daquele ao qual o leitor da obra em japonês tem acesso.
The work aims to analyze two translations of the Japanese literary work Kinkakuji, written by Yukio Mishima (1925-1970), published in 1956. to carry out a consideration of the indirect translation and of how much the intermediate version interferes between the source text and the target text, from the standpoint of the concept of equivalence. The selected translation into Portuguese are by Eliana Sabino (1988), who translated from the English version by Ivan Morris (1959), and the direct translation from the original text in Japanese by Shintaro Hayashi (2010). For this purpose, I introduce Mishima and his works; the novel Kinkakuji, considering the context in which the author wrote it and its critical reception; and a concept of indirect translation, as well as various views on it. In addition, I present the translation of Mishimas literature into Portuguese, in the translation tradition of Japanese literature in Brazil. I carry out the analysis by comparing the translations with the original work in Japanese to identify the transformations that have prevented the readers of the translations from understanding the sense of the original work. I reached the conclusion that such deformations occur more frequently in the indirect translation, but also in the direct translation, hindering the transmission of the universe developed by the author in the novel. The results allowed me to realize that the English translation causes deformations in the source text in a certain way and that it inevitably influences the indirect translation into Portuguese, but the English translation is not the only reason for this. In the direct translation into Portuguese, although I identified some cases of deformation, I noticed that the translator was concerned with maintaining Mishimas writing style, not only in the textual sense. In this case, it can be affirmed that the translator has been able to produce a text that is closer, from the point of view of maintaining the equivalence, to the one to which the reader of the Japanese work has access.

Cette etude ne saurait bien sur faire abstraction des parcours textuels respectifs de nos auteurs avec leur interrogativite propre, des rencontres parfois determinantes, des luttes, des refus qui ont accelere leur destin. Au contraire, nous aurons a reperer les differences significatives. Chemin faisant, des relations se sont etablies entre des concepts, des idees, voire des sentiments, qui representent soit une parente manifeste, decleree, soit un lien plus secret noue par notre travail critique et interpretatif. Quelles passerelles emprunter pour confronter une oeuvre litteraire a une oeuvre philosophique ? le premier pont est emprunte au comparatisme : c'est classiquement l'analyse a partir des themes nominaux. Seulement, ceux-ci doivent etre apprehendes en rapport avec le questionnement qu'ils illustrent et supportent tout a la fois. Car il importe de considerer les oeuvres dans leur typicalite textuelle. Cette seconde passerelle utilise les acquis d'une methode particuliere qu'on peut appeler la textologie comparee, d'ou notre sous-titre "essai de transtextualite".

The reception and the study of the novel Spring Snow by Yukio Mishima has – as always with the novels of Yukio Mishima – focused on the writer himself according to his spectacular way of life and death. Opposite to the studies and the reception, this master thesis focuses on the novel itself by following two more or less hidden traces in the novel: the protagonist Kiyoaki and his attitude to responsibility and dreams. This examination deepens the novel, by showing how the mechanisms of its inherent complexity work. It has been made by freely applying Roland Barthes´ method “rewriting the text”.

Après une partie préliminaire dans laquelle nous étudions l’œuvre du poète Hiraoka Kimitake entre 1937 et 1941, nous analysons l’œuvre du romancier, nouvelliste, épistolier et dramaturge Mishima Yukio entre La Forêt en fleurs (1941) et Kantan (1950). Nous nous demandons en quoi cette période est la période de gestation d’une entité à laquelle renvoie le signe Mishima Yukio et qui proclame scandaleusement son désir de vivre ? Autrement dit, en quoi le jeune homme Hiraoka Kimitake, en devenant Mishima Yukio, l’auteur de l’œuvre, se fait-il « autre qu’il n’était auparavant » (Starobinski) à travers l’expérience de la Modernité et plus particulièrement à travers l’intériorisation et la mise en œuvre du concept d’ironie que lui fournit l’École Romantique Japonaise ? Nous montrons que Hiraoka Kimitake devient Mishima Yukio à travers la redécouverte de la notion d’ironie dont l’École Romantique Japonaise a véhiculé une conception pervertie, lyrique, passéiste et pessimiste. We study the early Hiraoka Kimitake and the nascency of Mishima Yukio. After we study the work of poet Hiraoka Kimitake between 1937 and 1941, we analyze the work of the novelist, short novelist, letter-writer and playwright Mishima Yukio during the period 1941-1950. We are particulary interested in the period that separates “The Forest in Bloom (1941)” and “Kantan (1950).” We wonder how the period between the short novel The Forest in Bloom and the Kantan drama is the gestation period of an entity to which the sign Mishima refers and which scandalously proclaims its desire to live. In other words, how does the young man Hiraoka Kimitake, becoming Mishima Yukio, the author of the work, become "other than he was before" (Starobinski) through the experience of the Modernity and especially through the maturation and internalization of the concept of irony provided by the Japanese Romantic School? We show that Hiraoka Kimitake becomes Mishima Yukio through the rediscovery of the notion of irony of which the Japanese Romantic School has conveyed a perverted, lyrical, backward and pessimistic conception. After having adopted the concept of irony developed by the Japanese Romantic School, the writer renews it by returning to the origin of the concept, that is to say by renewing the concept of Socratic Irony, fundamentally optimistic, and futuristic, but underlying some violence. This joyous and brutal irony; this "gay knowledge", which is based on a cyclical conception of time, on a certain "eternal return", is the existential foundation of the literature of Hiraoka Kimitake whose pseudonym Mishima Yukio represents the disappearance

Mishima Yukio premiered the play Rokumeikan in 1956 and published it in 1957. For more than half a century, this play has been praised as one of the finest Japanese plays in the Post-War period. Rokumeikan is a multi-act tragic melodrama, set in 1886 (Meiji Period) in the Rokumeikan building. The play intertwines complex political cabals, intense loves and hatreds, and multiple deceptions embodying the conflict between political power and love. This essay explores the reasons why Rokumeikan has maintained its popularity over its fifty year long performance history and examines the critical reception of the play. My analysis of the Rokumeikan text is based on conflicting notions of truth and power. According to the French philosopher, Michel Foucault, socio-political power creates truth. This "power reality" is embodied in the play by Prime Minister Kageyama, and its authority is challenged by his wife, Asako, who has an entirely different conception of truth. This interplay of conflicting values has helped to maintain the popularity and stature of the play for half a century.

Es en dicha perspectiva que investigaremos los modos en que el fascismo como ideología emerge en el arte literario otorgándole una función que va más allá del mero compromiso estético, imprimiéndole una profunda dimensión ética e ideológica. Intentaremos dilucidar el como a través de la escritura narrativa el creador logra inculcar, criticar e incluso adoctrinar a través de la experiencia estética una serie de patrones ideológicos y conductuales que aportarían a la formación de un ética social superior. Para lograr el objetivo de este trabajo procederemos al estudio de dos escritores adscritos a dos contextos distintos. This text is a record of the preparation and rehearsal of a kabuki-inspired production of Madame de Sade by Yukio Mishima in an English translation by Donald Keene. The goals of this production were both artistic and pedagogical. I applied my knowledge of Japanese theatre and skills in directing skills in a new way to create a work of theatre with a cross-cultural aesthetic appropriate to both the play and the audience. This production also gave the cast of undergraduate acting students the experience of combining truthful and stylized acting and introduced them to both kabuki and Stella Adler acting techniques. This text details the process of preparing the text, the discussions, exercises and techniques used in rehearsal, the impact of design elements on the performance and concludes with some thoughts on future development of this production concept with a fuller realization of the kabuki-inspiration.

En la sociedad actual la literatura se ha ido progresivamente dibujando como un elemento propio del sistema mercantil preocupado de llenar el tiempo libre de los sujetos. La literatura generalmente entra a competir con una amplia y diversa gama de modalidades de medios masivos que buscan informar, divertir e incluso generar cultura. En medio de esta competencia la recepción literaria (sobre todo la de las grandes editoriales) ha sufrido grandes transformaciones, pasando a ser una mercancía, un engranaje más de la industria cultural, engranaje que cumple tanto con la labor de llenar los momentos de tiempo libre como transformarse en un capital cultural que otorga prestigio a quien lo consume. Este trabajo se centra en definir los modelos desde los culaes la crítica literaria periodística crea un canon de prestigio y a la vez tutela y guía el modo en que este canon debe ser leído, proponiendo lecturas y buscando reducir la infinidad de lecturas posibles que tiene toda buena obra literaria. En la búsqueda de tratar de dar cuenta de este fenómeno y los mecanismos que lo rigen, analizaremos los artículos publicados en el periódico El Mercurio referentes a los autores japoneses Natsume Soseki y Yukio Mishima; con el fin de lograr revisar cómo a lo largo de los últimos años se ha creado un imaginario tendencioso e intencionado referente a cómo leer estos autores, y cómo este imaginario contrasta con la lectura que realiza la crítica especializada de éstos.

From 1958 to 1959, Mishima Yukio published a series of satirical essays titled Lessons in Immorality, in the magazine Weekly Morningstar. Lessons in Immorality was made into a television series, a stage play, and a film. Famous in the West for writing serious novels, Mishima's work as a humor writer is largely unknown. In these essays Mishima writes in a very comic style, making liberal use of hyperbole, burlesque, and travesty, in order to parody and satirize contemporary Japanese morality. Mishima uses humor to create a world in which Mishima Yukio, iconoclastic author and pop-culture figure, is an arbiter of his own honest and just morality that runs counter to the norms that Japanese at that time considered to be honest and just. Additionally, Mishima used Lessons in Immorality as a forum to discuss some of the serious concerns that are central to his famous novels. Because Mishima was writing for young men and women, he wrote about his complex philosophical and aesthetic ideals in a very humorous and accessible style. Thus, in addition to displaying Mishima's talent as a humor writer, these essays also give the reader fresh perspectives on Mishima's serious literature. In this paper, I will present the writing styles, rhetorical tools, and philosophical discussions from Lessons in Immorality that I believe make the series essential reading for anyone interested in Mishima or postwar Japanese literature.

This thesis delves into the relationship between literature and power in the construction and reproduction of discourses of national representation, also called national narratives. This project explores the theoretical and methodological mechanisms of this relationship throughout the particular case study of analyzing how national narratives of Japan circulate from the commentary of its literature in translation in the United States and Spain. The focus is set on the reception of literary works by four authors: Kawabata Yasunari, Mishima Yukio, Ōe Kenzaburō, and Murakami Haruki, in the time span between 1945 and 2018. This body of texts is interpreted by searching for underlying themes that travel across critical texts and that shape a particular idea of Japan. Once this literature-based national narrative is extracted and examined, it is framed against hegemonic discourses of representation of Japan in the West to see the spaces of discursive symbiosis between culture and hegemony.
Esta tesis explora la relación entre literatura y poder en la construcción y reproducción de discursos de representación nacional, también conocidos como narrativas nacionales. Los mecanismos de esta relación se exponen a través del desarrollo de un caso en particular: la narrativa nacional de Japón que circula del comentario de su literatura en traducción en Estados Unidos y en España. La muestra se ciñe a la recepción de cuatro autores: Kawabata Yasunari, Mishima Yukio, Ōe Kenzaburō y Murakami Haruki, en el período que va entre 1945 y 2018. El corpus de textos críticos se examina en busca de temas que en su circulación constituyan una idea particular de Japón que viaja intertextualmente. Una vez identificada esta narrativa nacional, se compara con el discurso hegemónico occidental de representación de Japón para ver los espacios de simbiosis discursiva entre cultura y hegemonía.

In this dissertation I analyse some works of fiction by Enchi Fumiko (1905-1986) set in the world of kabuki and noh, of which Enchi was a great expert. By using contemporary theories on gender, queer and old age and their connections, I wish to cast a new light on Enchi’s literature, especially on the works of the last period, which are almost unknown and not translated. Centred on the theatrical environment, the works I have chosen in my reading put into question conventional ideas of gender and age, revealing the process of the construction of identity. Onnagata ichidai regards the impossibility of fixing gender and sexuality, Komachi hensō is about the human tendency to self-deception and the need to fix identity, and Kikujidō describes the ultimate overcoming of the need of identity itself. At the same time I show how Enchi and Mishima Yukio shared many interests in Japanese tradition, and also in aspects like gender and age, even if their visions took quite different tones. In chapter 2 I analyse how Enchi re-elaborates some of Mishima’s works, undertaking an intertextual and often critical dialogue with his ouvre. The works which I examine in this thesis are precious for their intertextual value together with the possibility of a close reading which both pre-empts and furthers contemporary theories and allows a re-evaluation of Enchi’s literature in general.
In questa tesi analizzo alcune opere di fiction di Enchi Fumiko (1905-1986) ambientate nel mondo del kabuki e del nō, dei quali Enchi fu una profonda conoscitrice. Attraverso l’utilizzo di teorie contemporanee di gender, queer e ageing e le loro interconnessioni, intendo mostrare un punto di vista nuovo sull’opera di Enchi, soprattutto per quanto riguarda i lavori dell’ultimo periodo, che rimangono per la maggiorparte sconosciuti e intradotti. Essendo incentrate sull’ambiente del teatro, dal mio punto di vista le opere che ho scelto mettono in dubbio idee convenzionali di genere ed età, rivelando il processo di costruzione dell’identità. Onnagata ichidai riguarda l’impossibilità di fissare genere e sessualità, Komachi hensō la tendenza dell’uomo ad auto-illudersi e il suo bisogno di stabilire un’ identità, e Kikujidō descrive il superamento ultimo della necessità stessa di identità. Allo stesso tempo dimostro come Enchi e Mishima Yukio condividessero vari interessi nell’ambito della tradizione giapponese, oltre che di aspetti come genere ed età, anche se le loro visioni assunsero toni piuttosto diversi. Nel secondo capitolo analizzo come Enchi rielabori alcune opere di Mishima, intraprendendo un dialogo intertestuale spesso critico con la sua opera. Le opere che esamino in questa tesi sono preziose per il loro valore intertestuale e per la potenzialità di una lettura che anticipi e a volte superi alcune teorie contemporanee e permetta una rivalutazione dell’opera di Enchi in generale.

Grâce à sa vaste production littéraire, le judaïsme rabbinique, d’abord minoritaire, est devenu l’orthodoxie juive à la fin de l’antiquité. Les écrits rabbiniques ne cherchent pas à faire rire, mais nous avons constaté que les études académiques sur l’humour des rabbins de l’antiquité contribuent de manière significative à la compréhension des textes rabbiniques. Ces études ainsi que les théories modernes sur l’humour, les outils d’analyse littéraire et notre propre développement méthodologique, nous ont permis d’analyser les récits humoristiques dans les écrits tannaïtiques. Les résultats des travaux sur l’humour dans le Talmud Yerushalmi, le Talmud Babli et le midrash aggada, trouvent un écho dans les résultats de notre étude. Nous avons découvert dans la Mishna et la Tosefta une très grande variété de formes et de fonctions de l’humour. L’étude exhaustive des récits humoristiques dans ces deux corpus nous a permis de développer des nouvelles perspectives sur ces textes et leurs protagonistes, notamment concernant les polémiques internes et externes au mouvement rabbinique, les traits de caractère de certains sages et leur manière d’étudier, l’évolution de l’humour entre la Mishna, la Tosefta et les Talmudim. La grande majorité des récits que l’on trouve dans la Mishna et la Tosefta n’est pas humoristique, mais cette proportion est inversée dans certaines thématiques : dans les polémiques internes au mouvement tannaïtique nous avons noté un équilibre entre les textes humoristiques et sérieux, et de surcroît, dans les polémiques avec des groupes extérieurs au mouvement tannaïtique, les textes humoristiques sont majoritaires. L’humour des tanna’im s’avère être complexe et varié, il permet de faire remonter les origines de l’humour juif à l’époque tannaïtique, d’expliquer certains textes énigmatiques, et de mieux connaître la pensée des tanna’im
Thanks to their extensive literature, the rabbinic movement which was a marginal minority during the early centuries CE became, by late antiquity, the Jewish mainstream, and the rabbinic practice of Judaism became Jewish orthodoxy. Rabbinic writings do not aim to make one laugh, but we have noticed that academic research into the ancient rabbis’ humor contribute significantly to the understanding of rabbinic writings.Our tools for analyzing the humor in tannitic texts are based on previous studies, modern theories about humor, literary analysis techniques and our own personally developed methodology. The research results about humor in the Talmud Yerushalmi, the Talmud Babli and in Midrash Aggada are echoed in the results of our work.We have found in the Mishna and the Tosefta humor in various forms and functions. A comprehensive study of humorous anecdotes in these two textual corpora lends a new perspective about the rabbis and their writings: it also sheds light on the rabbis’ personalities and the house of study atmosphere, struggles within the rabbinic movement as well as with outside opponents, and the evolution of humor between the Mishna, the Tosefta and the Talmudim. The large majority of the stories found in the Mishna and the Tosefta are not humorous, but this proportion is reversed in certain themes: in polemics within the tannaitic movement we find an equal number of humorous and serious texts, and in polemics with opponents to the tannaitic movement, humorous texts are predominant. The tannaitic humor is complex and diversified, it traces the origins of modern Jewish humor not only to the Talmud but back to the tannaitic period, it helps explain some enigmatic texts, and to better know the tannaitic ideology

Abstract:
Human activities that lead to fragmentation and habitat loss are big problems in the world. Due to global climate change the negative effects of fragmented habitats can be catastrophic for many organisms. In the Amazon rainforest, that is most sensitive to human impact, stands a big risk to lose its species diversity. Fragmentation and climate change together seems to escalate the death rate of rainforest plants and that will change the whole ecosystem. Birds and insects are depending on the trees and the trees faces big challenges now. Many of the rainforest organisms have been noticed to emigrate further up to northern altitudes due to the warmer climate and maybe also because of deforestation. Many of the lowland forest birds are predicted to distribute from their origin habitats. The national reserve Allpahuayo Mishana in the Peruvian Amazon is known for its diversity of birds. It is a big challenge for the reserve to maintain the origin forest composition from climate change, which will lead to losses of species. The reserve allows the local community to utilize the land for small-scale uses inside the protected zone. Many of the birds are sensitive for external disturbance. Most human activities are resulting in that the forest becomes less dense, which can lead to that the territory for the birds decreases. This makes it important for the reserve to improve the human land use not to restrict the birds' habitat inside the reserve. This project will investigate if the small-scale land uses affects the understory birds’ diversity and habitat negative. The purpose is to see if the fragmented forests in the reserve, closest to the utilized land, can functioning as a secondary forest for the understory birds, or are the understory birds limited by the small-scale land use, in the national reserve Allpahuayo Mishana? Four sites with various human activities were chosen to investigate if the sites contain any understory birds. The result showed that the most disturbed sites had poor bird diversity compare to the sites with no human disturbance.

Concretament es presenten les aportacions realitzades basades en el Model Tecnològic, Pedagògic i Curricular de Mishra i Koehler (2006). Per poder garantir un entorn d’aprenentatge hi ha diversos elements vertebradors que cal considerar. Per una banda les metodologies d’aprenentatge a aplicar tenint en compte els continguts curriculars que cal impartir. En segon lloc és imprescindible considerar les Tecnologies de la Informació i Comunicacions com un element clau a l’hora de dissenyar l’entorn d’aprenentatge. Finalment caldrà tenir mecanismes contrastats per tal de poder avaluar l’aprenentatge i assegurar que s’ha assolit els objectius que s’esperaven de manera eficaç i eficient. Aquesta tesi doctoral presenta un conjunt de contribucions en els diferents elements que formen part del procés d’ensenyament-aprenentatge. Per estructurar aquestes aportacions s’ha fet servir com a marc conceptual del treball de recerca el Model Tecnològic, Pedagògic i Curricular (més conegut com a TPACK) de Mishra i Koehler. D’aquesta manera es presentarà el treball realitzat en l’àmbit de les metodologies docents innovadores, com són l’anàlisi crítica realitzada mitjançant casos o el disseny de noves estratègies per afavorir l’aprenentatge actiu. També hi haurà contribucions en l’àmbit de les Tecnologies de la Informació i Comunicacions (TIC), per integrar-les dins del procés d’ensenyament-aprenentatge i utilitzar-les com a eina necessària per la implantació eficient. Es farà especial èmfasi en els processos d’avaluació, concretament en l’avaluació per competències, com un mecanisme primordial per garantir l’assoliment de l’aprenentatge, presentant nous models d’avaluació i, com a partir d’aquesta informació recollida, es pot extreure coneixement de l’estudiant per millorar els processos d’aprenentatge.

This PhD dissertation is a compendium of publications in the field of educational research and pedagogical innovation. These articles are based on the Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPCK) Framework by Mishra and Koehler (2006). In order to guarantee an effective learning environment, different aspects need to be considered. On the one hand, the learning methods should be applied in line with the curricular contents to be taught. On the other hand, it is essential to take into account Information and Communication Technologies as a key element in the syllabus design. Finally, it is necessary to count with contrasted mechanisms to assess the learning process and ensure that the aims have been achieved effectively and efficiently. This PhD dissertation presents a series of contributions related to the different elements that form part of the learning and teaching process. The research has been structured around the conceptual framework provided by the Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPCK) Framework by Mishra and Koehler. Research has been carried out in the context of innovative pedagogical methodologies such as critical analysis through case studies or the design of new strategies to foster active learning. We shall also present the contributions made to integrate Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in this process and use them as indispensable tools for an efficient implementation to take place. Special emphasis will be laid on evaluation processes, specifically on competencies assessment as a primordial mechanism to guarantee the achievement of learning by presenting new assessment models, and on how, from the gathered information, the students’ knowledge can be gauged so as to improve their learning processes.
