Abstract:

Abstract Im Unterschied zu den jüngeren Epochen der deutschen Sprachgeschichte seit mittelhochdeutscher Zeit sind die ersten Jahrhunderte bis zum Mittelhochdeutschen in Bezug auf die Wortbildung kaum aus einer diachronen Perspektive untersucht worden. Die bestehenden Arbeiten widmen sich größtenteils synchronen Zuständen des Wortbildungssystems im Alt- oder Mittelhochdeutschen. In meinem Beitrag möchte ich erste Ergebnisse eines Vergleichs zwischen dem „Referenzkorpus Altdeutsch“ und dem seit 2017 online verfügbaren „Referenzkorpus Mittelhochdeutsch“ vorstellen und damit Möglichkeiten der Modellierung von Wortbildungswandel innerhalb einer z. T. trümmerartigen Sprachperiode aufzeigen. Der Fokus liegt im Bereich der Abstraktbildungen (wie z. B. in salb-idha ‚Salbung‘, irpolgan-nussi ‚Aufregung‘) und konzentriert sich zudem auf die Entwicklung der drei häufigsten Ableitungssuffixe ‑ida/‑ede, ‑nissa/‑nisse und ‑unga/‑unge. Konkret wird auf der Grundlage der in den beiden Korpora verfügbaren Ableitungssuffixe der Frage nachgegangen, wie sich diese in der Frühzeit des Deutschen insgesamt entwickelt haben und welche Konkurrenzen sich zwischen ihnen zeigen. Die Ergebnisse weisen auf eine konstante Zunahme der ‑unga/‑unge-Bildungen hin, die jedoch vielmehr auf Kosten von ‑nissa/‑nisse als von ‑ida/‑ede geht. Für ‑ida/‑ede-Bildungen kann gezeigt werden, dass sie im Hinblick auf die Faktoren Geographie (Dialekt) und Genre (Prosa/Vers) einen Schwerpunkt im alemannischen Vers-Bereich aufweisen und hier vom Alt- zum Mittelhochdeutschen deutlich zunehmen.

Abstract Dieser Beitrag untersucht die Variation von Verben mit zweisilbigem Stamm auf l im Infinitiv zwischen voller Form (zweifelen), Synkope in der ersten Schwa-Silbe (zweiflen) und Synkope in der zweiten Schwa-Silbe (zweifeln) anhand von Korpusuntersuchungen im Referenzkorpus Mittelhochdeutsch sowie im Deutschen Textarchiv. Es zeigt sich, dass Verben mit zweisilbigem Stamm ein niederfrequentes Phänomen darstellen. Die volle Form überwiegt im Mittelhochdeutschen deutlich, während sie im Frühneuhochdeutschen von der Synkope in der zweiten Schwa-Silbe abgelöst wurde. Synkopen in der ersten Schwa-Silbe lassen sich – konform mit dem Silbenkontaktgesetz – vornehmlich im 17. und frühen 18. Jahrhundert systematisch für Verben beobachten, deren erste Stammsilbe auf Nasal oder vokalisiertem r endet.

Neun Jahre nach dem Erscheinen des dritten Teils der auf vier Teile geplanten Mittelhochdeutschen Grammatik (KSW III, siehe dazu Mediaevistik 24: 519–521) liegt nun der zweite Teil dieses großangelegten, langjährigen Projekts vor. Die Grammatik basiert auf dem Referenz-Korpus Mittelhochdeutsch (<ext-link ext-link-type="uri" xlink:href="https://www.linguistics.ruhr-uni-bochum.de/rem">https://www.linguistics.ruhr-uni-bochum.de/rem</ext-link>/) mit seinen circa zwei Millionen Wortformen. Šiame straipsnyje pateikiami vokiečių kalbos praeities laikų diachroninės analizės rezultatai. Straipsnio įvadinėje dalyje apžvelgiami moksliniai darbai, kuriuose nagrinėjama vokiečių kalbos veiksmažodžio praeities laikų semantikos įvairovės problematika. Analizuojant praeities laikų semantikos ypatumus remtasi Reichenbacho formule. Taip pat šiame straipsnyje šiuolaikinės kalbos praeities laikų (Präteritum, Perfekt ir Plusquamperfekt) semantikos įvairovė gretinama su viduriniosios vokiečių aukštaičių kalbos (Mittelhochdeutsch) praeities laikų semantika. Tyrimo tikslas – diachroninės analizės būdu nustatyti praeities laikų vartojimo kitimus. Tyrimo metu buvo nustatyta, kad XIII a. pradžioje visi praeities laikai buvo vartojami rašytiniuose šaltiniuose. Präteritum bei Perfekt laikų semantika susiaurėjo, o Plusquamperfekt vartojimas pasikeitė kiekybiškai.

Este artículo se centra en los principales escollos con los que se encuentra el traductor a la hora de traducir textos líricos de la época cortesano-caballeresca. Abstract:

Jede moderne Übersetzung eines mittelalterlichen Textes ist zu begrüßen, denn damit wird stets ein neuer Baustein zur Verfügung gestellt, das Interesse am Mittelalter zu wecken bzw. zu fördern und die Forschung über diese Epoche voranzutreiben. Chroniken wie die Livländische Reimchronik sitzen allerdings etwas zwischen den Stühlen, da sie eigentlich bloß als historische Quellen aufzufassen wären, zugleich aber einen wichtigen Beitrag zur Schriftkultur leisteten. Bei der hier zu besprechenden Übersetzung geht es um das älteste Werk der Deutschordens-Literatur, in der die Geschichte der deutschen Siedlung im Baltikum zwischen ca. 1180 und ca. 1290 dargelegt wird. Beim anonymen Verfasser dürfte es sich um ein Mitglied des Ordens gehandelt haben, es ist aber strittig, ob das Werk dazu diente, um laut den Brüdern vorgelesen zu werden, oder ob es nicht viel eher dazu diente, bedenkt man den Einsatz von Mittelhochdeutsch, um im Westen des Reiches Unterstützung für die Bemühungen des Ordens zu gewinnen (A. Murray, Crausade and Conversion on the Baltic Frontier 1150–1500, 2001). Auf jeden Fall verdient diese <?page nr="467"?>Chronik unser Interesse, weil wir damit unmittelbar Einblick in die mentale Welt des livländischen Raumes gewinnen, ob aus ‘kolonialer’ oder aus politischer Sicht, und konkret über die militärischen und politischen Ereignisse informiert werden.

Abstract The inclusion of Semantic Web technologies into the lexicographic ‘Middle High German Conceptual Database’ (MHDBDB) is a challenge for this long-term project. Since the 1970 s the Middle High German Concept Database has aimed to provide an onomasiological dictionary for Middle High German. The latest technological revision dates back to 1992, so there is a growing demand for more contemporary infrastructure and usability. The data models themselves, as well as the linking of data sets with authority files, need to be modernised to ensure compatibility with the Semantic Web. This paper summarises the current discussion on formats and ontologies for online dictionaries with a focus on Middle High German lexicography.

Abstract:

Abstract This article discusses the origin and historical development of the German n-indefinite kein, which is an unusual negator because it does not share the initial n that marks virtually all other negatives in German. Despite the discussion about its origins going back to the nineteenth century, it is still unclear how kein first emerged and out of which other forms it developed. In this paper, new light is shed on an old controversy using new data and modern corpus-linguistic tools, in this case the Referenzkorpus Mittelhochdeutsch (ReM). The article first summarises the current state of research before presenting and analysing the data. In combination with additional evidence, the results show that certain hypotheses that have to this day been treated as accurate are in fact not viable. Subsequently, a solution that combines some of the existing theses and is compatible with the data is presented: Morphological reanalysis and the ensuing back-formation of kein’s predecessor nehein – in combination with a phonologically conditioned sound substitution triggered by a shift of the syllable boundary – in the context of negative concord seems the most likely candidate for an accurate explanation of the emergence and early usage patterns of kein in Middle High German. Incongruent evidence from Swiss German, however, suggests that partially convergent developments ensuing from different indefinite forms have taken place in that variety.

Zum ersten Mal wird hier eine vollständige Sammlung der stabreimenden Wortpaare im Werk des Minnesängers Walthers von der Vogelweide vorgelegt. Damit verbunden ist die kontextuelle Analyse auf dem Hintergrund vorher belegter Beispiele aus dem Alt- und Mittelhochdeutschen, jeweils unter Berücksichtigung der umfangreichen Sekundärliteratur und geläufigen Nachschlagewerke. Mit diesem Verzeichnis und die Analyse der Wortpaarstellen ist die Geschichte der stabreimenden Wortpaare in der deutschen Sprach- und Literaturgeschichte, insbesondere der klassischen mittelhochdeutschen Epoche, um ein wichtiges Stück vorangetrieben. Diese Studie vervollständigt die Sammlung stabreimender Wortpaare in den klassischen mittelhochdeutschen Texten. Die Arbeit versteht sich als Teil der historischen Phraseologieforschung und damit der Tradition der historischen Rhetorik des Deutschen. Sie ergänzt vorliegende Funde zu den stabreimenden Wortpaaren vor allem im Alt- und Frühmittelhochdeutschen. Zudem leistet sie Einsichten in die reichhaltige rhetorische Praxis Walthers von der Vogelweide und des Minnesangs überhaupt.

Abstract The question of the cultural conditions of narrations as a paradigm of historical narratology corresponds to one of the main interests of medieval literary studies: how is literature anchored in its extra-literary fields of reference? However, problems with the modeling of text and context have led to literary texts being understood in a more abstract way as forms of cultural practice, whereas the concrete contexts are neglected. As a result of this development, different cultural theoretical premises are encountered in the field of historical narratology that can hardly be related to one another. In this situation, our paper wants to highlight the importance of very specific text-context references, especially between theological knowledge and the narrative methods (Erzählverfahren) of Middle High German literature. Firstly, the autodiegesis in Rudolf von Ems’s Der guote Gêrhart is interpreted with respect to the question of intentionality, as discussed in Peter Lombard’s Book of Sentences. Secondly, ambiguities in the figuration and the narrative perspective in Ritter von Staufenberg are explained in the horizon of a literary demonology, as it is rooted in Augustinian theology and is developed by Walter Map and Gervasius of Tilbury. With this approach we want to argue that theological knowledge influenced the vernacular narrative not only on the level of content, but also in narrative methods.

Abstract:

Abstract For some decades, the authenticity of the German inscriptions of the castle Wildenberg in the Odenwald was rejected repeatedly. If they were created around 1200, they would be among the oldest known inscriptions written in German. This study attempts to verify the widely accepted assumption, that the inscriptions were ›forgeries‹ of the 19th century, based on epigraphic and linguistic criteria. It becomes apparent that evidence for ›forgery‹ cannot be provided based on the forms of the letters. A comparison of the preserved word and name forms shows, however, that the doubts concerning the authenticity of the inscriptions at the gate tower of the castle can be substantiated linguistically, whereas the inscriptions of the palas fit into the tradition of Middle High German texts.

Als Ergänzung zu einer langjährigen methodologischen Sammlung stabreimender Wortpaare im Mittelhochdeutschen (siehe zuletzt Jeep 2019: 544, mit den entsprechenden Studien) wird der Wortpaarbestand dreier früher religiöser Texte – Anegenge, Das Leben des Heiligen Ulrich und Heinrich und Kunigunde – erstmals vollständig und im Kontext der frühdeutschen Überlieferung erfasst. Diese vierundzwanzig Paare sind zum Teil schon vor diesen Texten mehrfach belegt, zum Teil wohl Neuprägungen. Die Beispiele werden im großen Zusammenhang mit über 1.200 bislang nachgewiesenen Wortpaaren des Frühdeutschen untersucht, wobei die bisherige Forschung mit einbezogen wird. Vorweg wird ein Nachtrag zum bestehenden Katalog frühmittelhochdeutscher Paare (Jeep 2006) geliefert.
