Abstract:
Horizontal wells with multistage hydraulic fracturing are today the most important drilling technology for shale gas extraction. Considered unprofitable before, the production has now become economically profitable due to advances in technology. Shales main characteristics is its low permeability, making the gas challenging and expensive to extract. Hydraulic fracturing stimulates the wells by creating additional conductivity, making the gas flows from storage pores to the well. This flow only possible in a short time scale, and states the need for multistage fracturing. Shale gas flow theref

Abstract:
The aim of this thesis is to deepen the Containership Stowage Planning Problem (CSPP). In general terms, this problem consists of finding optimal plans for stowing containers into a containership, satisfying several restrictions. This topic has a lot of variations regarding the objective functions and the constraints required, depending on the situation taken into account. This dissertation is developed by referring to a real case, with its specific objective function and restrictions. In the first part of this thesis, an overview on the different approaches given by the literature is provided

Several mathematical models for planning cash flow have been proposed in recent decades. Most of the models are deterministic and initially treated as an extension of the economic order quantity. This thesis addresses the cash management problem from the perspective of optimization models present in the Oper

Abstract:
A/B testing refers to the statistical procedure of experimental design and analysis to compare two treatments, A and B, applied to different testing subjects. It is widely used by technology companies such as Facebook, LinkedIn, and Netflix, to compare different algorithms, web-designs, and other online products and services. The subjects participating in these online A/B testing experiments are users who are connected in different scales of social networks. Two connected subjects are similar in terms of their social behaviors, education and financial background, and other demographic aspects.
