Abstract:
Density functional theory calculation using Quantum Espresso package was conducted to study band gap and structural effect of BiVO4 by doping elements like Zr, Mo and S, to substitute Bi, V and O. Band gap of BiVO4 has been reduced from 2.25 to 1.54 eV by ~8% S2- substitution with O2-. Distance between atoms V-O increased by changing to V-S, which effects vibration of the atoms in the structure. ~2% substitution Mo and Zr with Bi and V changed monoclinic BiVO4 to mix phase of tetragonal scheelite phase. It has been shown that XRD powder pattern of optimized structure can show (121) plane peak

Small button ingots of Ti2AlNb alloys with different contents of Mo, V and Zr were melted by vacuum non-consumable arc furnace. Due to the rapid cooling rate during melting process, only β grains without precipitation were observed in most of the button ingots and no regular phenomenon was found. However, when the samples were heated to β phase region and then furnace cooled to room temperate, different morphologies and quantities of primary α phase and second O phase formed from the β grains of different samples. Body-centered cubic (BCC) refractory high-entropy alloys (RHEAs) demonstrate significant potential as nuclear structural materials due to their exceptional mechanical properties and radiation tolerance. While Zr-containing RHEAs often develop multiphase structures through Zr-rich phase precipitation to enhance high-temperature mechanical performance, their irradiation response mechanisms remain poorly understood. In addition, it was attempted to obtain a low-cost, high-strength beta-titanium alloy with 800 MPa or more by applying the powder metallurgy process technology to the Ti-Mo-Fe alloy system. The solution strengthening effect of 33 alloying elements on Pt-based alloys is systematically explored for the first time by means of first-principles calculations in this work. It is found that the strengthening ability of alloying elements (Th, La, Ce, Zr, Hf, Ta, W, Nb, and Y) commonly used in Pt-based alloys is validated. Intermetallic alloy ZrCo is a good material for storing tritium (T). However, ZrCo is prone to disproportionation reactions during the process of charging and discharging T. Alloying atoms are often added in ZrCo, occupying the Zr or Co site, in order to restrain disproportionation reactions. Meanwhile, T often decays into helium (He), and the purity of T seriously decreases once He escapes from ZrCo. Therefore, it is necessary to understand the influence of alloying atoms on the basic stability property of He. In this work, we perform systematical ab initio calculations to study the stability
