Abstract:
This essay examines four navigation patterns that can be applied toresponsive websites. A navigation pattern consists of the placement of awebsite's navigation menu as well as any interaction a user must do to gainaccess to this. The posed question aims to determine which of these fourpatterns that are best suited for implementation on websites whose menuitems also have subcategories. The study makes use of freely availablepatterns that are modified and implemented in four websites, one for eachnavigation pattern. The results from the interviews and observations showsthat the tab system that's included in the "Paneled" prototype is experiencedas least time consuming and most orderly. In the chapter of conclusions it isstated that it isn't optimal to use navigation pattern "Paneled" for ecommerce purposes without further modification due to usability problems

Abstract:
Nyckelord: responsiv webbdesign, mobil webbapplikation, navigation, mobil webb.

Abstract:

Abstract:

Abstract:

This paper examines the technical aspects that can constitute an obstacles for web developers when they meet their customers' demands for resolution-independent design, with responsive web design. The work includes a interview with a client that resulted in a product specification, which then was used as the basis for a prototype. In which responsive web design was tested and evaluated as a technical option. Abstract:
The market of smart mobile devices is getting bigger and bigger and it can be a great way to reach out with your service or product to the crowed by deploying a mobile application. The installable applications on the mobile devices that uses device-specific functions is called native applications, and are tied to one platform. They can therefore only be used by those devices that make use of that platform. The two largest platforms is iOS (used by mobile devices from Apple) and Android (used by a variety of devices including Samsung, LG and HTC). This means that if you want to reach out to multiple platforms you will have to create a separate application for each platform. It also requires the developer/developers to have the proper knowledge of the programming languages in which the platform is compatible to. This can be both time consuming and expensive, especially if you as a company is hiring developers to develop your app. The purpose of this study is to determine whether the open source library known as Phonegap can be used to develop a mobile application that ultimately can be distributed and installed on multiple mobile platforms, this by using Web technologies such as CSS, HTML and JavaScript. During this study a mobile application will be created and evaluated. Studies will be done on how to go about and if there is anything one might need to take in consideration when it comes to the variety of units with different properties and functions. Usability testing will also be performed to determine whether a near native performance can achieved with this technique. The results show that Phonegap is an excellent tool for access of device-specific functions and that you together with interface frameworks such as jQuery Mobile can reach out to most of the newer mobile devices available today. However, one would do well to analyze if the scope of the application requires an interface library, as those who are available may perform poorly on certain mobile operating system.

It has become increasingly common that we now use our mobile devices to visit the web. This thesis examines the central design principles a designer should strive for when it is intended to simplify the use of a website in a static and variable situation trough a mobile device. The thesis includes a literature review, interviews on two occasions and a prototype development. The first interviews identified the fundamental design principles which then became the basis for the prototype. The second interviews were conducted towards the prototype with the same individuals. It examined if the fundamental design principles simplified the use of a website trough the mobile device. A comparison of the two interviews was conducted to compile the central design principles.

Mobi is a system that automatically rewrites web pages into formats optimized for web browsing on mobile devices. The system estimates heuristically which parts of a web page's content users are most likely interested in, using previously recorded history of user actions on the Web. By doing so, Mobi is able to remove the unnecessary portions of the web page and rewrite it in a format more fitting for the mobile device's form factor. Mobi accomplishes this by having a proxy server inject a client-side script onto web pages. The script examines previously recorded user actions related to the web page it is injected onto and rewrites the web page accordingly. The design and implementation of the system are described, as well as an evaluation over a variety of web pages.

Abstract:

Abstract:

Abstract:
Mobile web browsers of today have many of the same capabilities as their desktop counterparts. However, among the capabilities they lack is a way for web applications to interact with local devices. While today’s mobile phones commonly include GPS receivers and digital cameras, these local devices are currently not accessible from within the browser. The only means of utilizing these devices is by using standalone applications, but such applications lack the versatility of web browsers. If a mobile browser could utilize these local devices, then a mobile application could run within the browser, thus avoiding the need for specialized client software. This thesis suggests an approach for adding such capabilities to mobile browsers. In the proposed method, scripted access to local device functionality is facilitated by a local Java application. This application acts as a proxy server and allows the browser to call methods exposed by the local Java APIs. Both the benefits and some security concerns of this approach are examined. The benefits are further highlighted through two example web applications which utilize local devices.

Abstract:
The existing advanced web browsers in today’s mobile phones open up the door for mobile web applications. By using standard webtechnologies, a web page can be crafted to mimic the behavior of a normal application. The purpose of this master’s thesis has been to look at web application development for mobile phones in general and to implement a web-based Mobile TV client to determine whether it would be a viable alternative to existing clients based on other technologies. The advantages are the same as for any other web application: 1) the user avoids the hassle of installing an application and will always run the latest version, 2) developers benefit from the browser’s ability to render generic content, and 3) it is believed that the differences between browser implementations are less than in other environments in which an application would run, for example Java or operating system specificenvironments.

Abstract:
This paper reports a study on the usability of e-commerce accessed through smartphones. There is much research in the usability of mobile interfaces and many sets of design patterns have been created but a few studies are available for specific domains, and in this report we focus on mobile e-commerce. In this study a framework is developed for how to design mobile e-commerce interfaces with a high degree of usability. Furthermore, the study also contributes a method to how other specific domain can develop a framework with general standards to work from when creating a web interface. By examining two sets of design principles and 14 design patterns, we evaluate which ones are critical in the design of a mobile e-commerce interface for achieving a high degree of usability. We have done this by applying the survey in two e-commerce sites with different design approaches to examine how they relate to the selected design patterns and design principles. The survey is conducted in three phases through an online survey, a content analysis and an observational study to investigate the interface usability based on theoretical- and practical perspectives. The study shows that in order to create a good usability of e-commerce sites accessed through smartphones, the user want to recognize themselves in how the content is presented and communicated, as well as the interface should obtain certain key functions.

Abstract:
Web Services and Mobile Agents are two most prominent technologies in current distributed computing world. Built on top of existing Web protocols and based on open XML standards, Web Services are emerging to provide a systematic and extensible framework for application-to-application interaction. It is platform and language independent. Web Services are technologies that define the standardized mechanisms to describe, locate, and communicate services on Internet. Mobile agent is considered an essential technology in the development of distributed software application because of its capability to move across distributed environments, interact with local resources and other mobile agents. Mobile agent allows for more flexible and dynamic structure than traditional systems based on the client-server paradigm. This thesis discusses the necessity and benefit of incorporating the location and platform agnostic Web Services into mobile agent system. How Web Services technologies could be used to help to standardize the mobile agent system. A framework of Web Service Enabled Mobile Agent System has been presented and discussed along with the detail of the implementation. Evaluation and verification have been conducted to ensure that the experimented system performs as the way it is expected.

Abstract:
The explosion of mobile applications both in number and variety raises the need of shedding light on their architecture, composition and quality. Indeed, it is crucial to understand which mobile application paradigm fits better to what type of application and usage. Such understanding has direct consequences on the user experience, the development cost and sale revenues of mobile apps. In this thesis, we identify four main mobile application paradigms and evaluate them from the viewpoints of developers, users and service providers. To ensure objectivity and accuracy we start by defining high level criteria and then breaking down into finer-grained criteria. After a theoretical evaluation an implementation was carried out as a practical verification to ensure that the method adopted in analysis and evaluation is trusted and applicable. The selected application is object recognition app, which is both exciting and challenging to develop.

Abstract:

Efficient solutions for Web Services on mobile devices would allow truly global, platform independent and interoperable information access, anywhere and at any time. While Web Services are continuously gaining ground, they are commonly reserved for use on personal computers and high-capacity servers, even though mobile devices are continuously becoming more advanced in terms of processing resources and wireless communication capabilities. This thesis identifies several challenges of accessing Web Services from mobile devices, and evaluates and discusses methods for creating more efficient solutions. Some of the challenges are the limited bandwidth and high communication latency. Reducing the size of XML information transferred and optimizing the communication protocol stack are identified as possible solutions to overcome these challenges. Additionally, as the communication cost correlates with the amount of data transferred, more efficient Web Services solutions are clearly beneficial for the end-user. The approaches described to reduce the size of XML files are traditional compression, alternative representation of the files, and binary XML. Binary XML is a compact representation of information that keeps the desirable structure of XML intact. The Efficient XML Interchange format currently being standardized by W3C is studied in more detail. Furthermore, optimizing the protocol stack has also been evaluated. A prototype Web Service system has been developed and tested in both simulated environments and in real surroundings using GPRS, EDGE and UMTS network connections. The results from the measurements show that both compression and the use of binary XML reduce the size of the information significantly and thereby the cost. Time needed to transfer the information is also reduced, and this effect is most apparent when the original files are large. Binary XML may however be the desirable format since it enables direct interaction with the information and keeps the memory footprint small. To reduce the time needed to transfer the information further, removing the HTTP protocol and optimizing the transport protocol, seems to minimize the effect of the latency.

Abstract:
As the use of mobile devices is increasing and the use of laptops and computers is decreasing it is becoming more important to design for better web usability across platforms. The established design principles for web design provide guidelines when designing and testing web usability. The principles, however, are not commonly used to evaluate and test the usability of mobile websites. This study seeks to examine how the usability of mobile and desktop websites is affected based on the adaption of established web design principles. The study is built upon an analytical framework where common keywords have been selected from a selection of established web design principles. This study takes on a qualitative approach with experimental features, using a heuristic evaluation, a usability study and an eye-tracking experiment. The study indicates that there is a connection between low adaption of certain keywords of web design principles and the usability of mobile and desktop websites, contributing to a deeper understanding of how adaption of design principles affect web usability across platforms.

Abstract:

Abstract:
This thesis looks at the issue of authentication and privacy in mobile Web services. The work in this thesis builds on GSM and UMTS security framework to develop security protocols for mobile Web services environment. The thesis initially highlights some core principles of designing security protocols in such environment. The next two chapters look at the core technologies and building blocks in Web services systems and the core security features in mobile networks mainly GSM and UMTS. Registration and authentication were identified as security issues in federated systems. Proposed solutions were developed utilizing XML security mechanisms with SIM card security in GSM environment to address these issues. Also a novel system was proposed in which it is possible for a mobile user to securely authenticate and have full anonymity as far as the service providers are concerned; however it is possible for a trusted authority to reveal the identity of the user if he or she is suspected of illegal activities. The next section analyze in detail the Generic Authentication Architecture from 3GPP. Combining SAML with the Generic Authentication Architecture, we propose a novel "generic mobile Web service platform" for M-Commerce. Various solutions have been proposed to address privacy concern in distributed networks; the Platform for Privacy Preferences is one of the popular proposal, though it has many desirable features, it is not easy to enforce it. We argue that this limitation can be managed in federated system such as the Liberty Alliance framework. In the final chapter we make the case for using timestamp based authentication protocol in mobile Web service on the ground of efficiency gain.

Abstract:
The Web is increasingly being accessed by portable, multi-touch wireless devices. Despite the popularity of platform-specific (native) mobile apps, a recent study of smartphone usage shows that more people (81%) browse the Web than use native apps (68%) on their phone. Moreover, many popular native apps such as BBC depend on browser-like components (e.g., Webview) for their functionality. The popularity and prevalence of web browsers on modern mobile phones warrants characterizing existing and emerging threats to mobile web browsing, and building solutions for the same. Although a range of studies have focused on the security of native apps on mobile devices, efforts in characterizing the security of web transactions originating at mobile browsers are limited. This dissertation presents three main contributions: First, we show that porting browsers to mobile platforms leads to new vulnerabilities previously not observed in desktop browsers. The solutions to these vulnerabilities require careful balancing between usability and security and might not always be equivalent to those in desktop browsers. Second, we empirically demonstrate that the combination of reduced screen space and an independent selection of security indicators not only make it difficult for experts to determine the security standing of mobile browsers, but actually make mobile browsing more dangerous for average users as they provide a false sense of security. Finally, we experimentally demonstrate the need for mobile specific techniques to detect malicious webpages. We then design and implement kAYO, the first mobile specific static tool to detect malicious webpages in real-time.

Abstract:
What was once simply a clever way of semantically present scientific reports has during the last two decades evolved into a ubiquitous and accessible form of communication. The web has since 2007 also been included in our mobile devices in its entirety. The vast amount of known unknowns regarding the users’ devices, browsers, physical location, context and more makes the development of applications difficult. However, by constructing an app with native technology a bunch of the unknowns can be eliminated and hardware can also be leveraged. In this case though, the app is locked in to a single platform and misses out on the webs ubiquity, its accessibility and its standardized technology. This research is aimed to answer three distinct questions regarding the web’s ability to support a mobile application. The questions consider problems and solutions with theory, practicality and usability. The theoretical investigation is accomplished through researching books, journals, articles, blogs, papers and code. Thereafter follow a development process of a prototype in order to research the technology. The prototype is also used in the usability tests, which together with interviews brings light to how users experience a mobile web app.Result of this research points towards a web platform that is capable of supporting a form intense mobile application, such as a flight booking app. Standards and technologies are evolving for the mobile web and users are more concerned with user experiences than issues with the platform.

Abstract:
To support wireless-oriented services, a new generation of Web services called Mobile services (M-services) has emerged. M-services provide mobile users access to services through wireless networks. One of the important issues in M-service environment is how to discover and access M-services efficiently. In this dissertation, we propose time and power efficient access methods for M-services. We focus on methods for accessing broadcast based M-services from multiple wireless channels. We first discuss efficient access methods in data-oriented wireless broadcast systems. We then discuss how to extend current wireless broadcast systems to support simple M-services. We present a novel infrastructure that provides a multi-channel broadcast framework for mobile users to effectively discover and access composite M-services. Multi-channel algorithms are proposed for efficiently accessing composite services. We define a few semantics that have impact on access efficiency in the proposed infrastructure. We discuss semantic access to composite services. Broadcast channel organizations suitable for discovering and accessing composite services are proposed. We also derive analytical models for these channel organizations. To provide practical study for the proposed infrastructure and access methods, a testbed is developed for simulating accessing M-services in a broadcast-based environment. Extensive experiments have been conducted to study the proposed access methods and broadcast channel organizations. The experimental results are presented and discussed.

Abstract:
The mobile industry has seen tremendous growth over the last decade, with both mobile hardware and software rapidly improving. This opens up new possibilities for mobile applications and allows them to expand into areas that were previously reserved for desktop applications. One of these fields is web analytics, which Vizzit wishes to explore by creating a prototype mobile web analytics application. This master thesis project investigates whether mobile devices are a suitable platform for web analytics applications, and what challenges are involved, both from a general, topdown perspective, as well as a more detailed developer perspective. The results of the investigation suggests that it is definitely possible to create a mobile based web analytics application, but not without challenges and limitations. For example, tablets proved to be much more suitable than smart phones because of their larger displays. One must also consider crucial factors such as the application type (native or web-based) and target platform and their implications. For example, JavaScript is used for almost all mobile web development, but there are some limitations and challenges posed by the language itself. Finally, for data-driven applications such as web analytics programs, efficiency problems and usability issues also arise when fetching large amounts of data remotely.

The combination of different media formats has been a crucial aspect on teaching and learning processes. The recent developments of multimedia technologies over the Internet and using mobile devices can improve the communication between professors and students, and allow students to study anywhere and anytime, allowing each student progress at its own pace. The usage of these new platforms and the increase of multimedia sharing applied to educational environments allow a more participative learning, and make the study of interfaces a relevant aspect of existing multimedia learning systems. The work done in this dissertation explores interfaces and tools for participative learning, using multimedia educational systems over Internet broadband and mobile devices. In this work, aWeb-based learning system was developed, which enables to store, transmit, search and share the contents of courses captured in video and its extension to support Tablet PCs. The Web system, developed as part of the VideoStore project, explores video interfaces and video annotations, which encourage the participative work. The usage of Tablet PCs, through the mEmLearn project, has the aim to encourage the participative work, allowing the students to augment the course materials and to share them with other students or instructors.

Abstract:
This thesis investigates the perceptions of students about using mobile communication tools in web-based instruction. A mobile learning portal that can be used by different mobile devices was designed for this purpose. This portal included a mobile discussion forum and a course information system. Sixty undergraduate and five graduate students from METU/CEIT department used this portal as a supportive learning activity in three different courses throughout two-three, and four-week periods. The discussion subjects related to course content were created by instructors in these courses and students used this portal by sending messages or creating new subjects. Assignment results and announcements were inserted into the system by the instructors of these courses. A user evaluation instrument was developed by the researcher and validated by field experts. At the end of the study, perceptions of students were collected about mobile learning, mobile learning technologies and mobile discussion forums by using this instrument. Descriptive statistics were calculated according to the responses of students. The study results show that most of the students enjoyed using mobile technologies in education and they want to use mobile technologies in other courses. Although they like using mobile technologies, they did not increase the level of learning and motivation of the students much. Furthermore, mobile technologies did not increase the communication between students and between students and teachers despite their highly developed communication capabilities. Students could easily use the mobile technologies but small screen sizes and limited keypads hindered them from performing the operations. According to students, the cost of using mobile technologies is quite important whereas the data communication security is not important.

Ford, Caroline Morgan. "Smartphone Apps on the Mobile Web: An Exploratory Case Study of Business Models." Digital Archive @ GSU, 2012. http://digitalarchive.gsu.edu/bus_admin_diss/14.

Full text
Abstract:
The purpose of this research is to explore the business strategies of a firm seeking to develop and profitably market a mobile smartphone application to understand how small, digital entrepreneurships may build sustainable business models given substantial market barriers. Through a detailed examination of one firm’s process to try to commercialize their mobile app, we identify various business model decisions and marketing strategy approaches that hindered the company’s efforts. The case study describes two distinctly different business models adopted in succession, as well as the various adjustments the firm makes to its target market, distribution and pricing approach that led to their current strategy. This research looks closely at business-to-business-to-consumer distribution arrangement for mobile apps and in doing so challenges the rising positive bias that exists for the app store as the dominant actor in the mobile value chain. For practice, this paper suggests unanticipated hurdles small digital entrepreneurs may face if they rely heavily on mobile advertising and the app store to launch and sustain their business.

Abstract:
Web Services are self-contained, self-describing, modular applications that can be published, located, and invoked through XML artefacts across the Web. Web services technologies can be applied to many kinds of applications, where they offer considerable advantages compared to the old world of product-specific APIs, platform-specific coding, and other &ldquo
brittle&rdquo
technology restrictions. Currently there are millions of web services available on the web due to the increase in e-commerce business volume. Web services can be discovered using public registries and invoked through respective interfaces. However how to automatically find, compose, invoke and monitor the web services is still an issue. The automatic discovery, composition, invocation and monitoring of web services require that semantics will be attached to service definitions. The focus of this thesis is on the composition of web services. The approach taken is to extend the DAML-S ontology that is used to define the semantics of services to include the &ldquo
succeeding services&rdquo
for any service provided. These definitions for individual service instances are declared by the service providers. They are presented to the users of the service to construct a workflow in a mobile environment. The workflow generated is represented both graphically in the mobile device and in XML-format as a BPEL4WS document. The aim of this thesis is to prove that it is possible to build a semi-automatic web service composition utility incorporating semantic constructs, using a mobile device. The generated workflow is suitable for deployment on an engine where it can be executed multiple times with different configurations.

The Web is a convenient platform to deliver information, but reading web pages is not as easy as it was in 1990s. This thesis focuses on investigating techniques to enhance web pages on desktop and mobile browsers for two specific populations: non-native English readers and mobile users. There are three issues addressed in this thesis: web page readability, web page skimmability and continuous reading support on mobile devices. On today's primarily English-language Web, non-native readers encounter some problems, even if they have some fluency in English. This thesis focuses on content presentation and proposes a new transformation method, Jenga Format, to enhance web page readability. A user study with 30 non-native users showed that Jenga transformation not only improved reading comprehension, but also made the web page reading easier. On the other hand, readability research has found that average reading times for non-native readers has remained the same or even worse. This thesis studies this issue and proposes Froggy GX (Generation neXt) to improve reading under time constraints. A user study with 20 non-native users showed that Froggy GX not only enhanced reading comprehension under time constraints, but also provided higher user satisfaction than reading unaided. When using the Web on mobile devices, the reading situation becomes challenging. Even worse, context switches, such as from walking to sitting, static standing, or hands-free situations like driving, happen in reading in on-the-go situations, but this scenario was not adequately addressed in previous studies. This thesis investigates this scenario and proposes a new mobile browser, Read4Me, to support continuous reading on a mobile device. A user study with 10 mobile users showed that auto-switching not only provided significantly fewer dangerous encounters than visual-reading, but also provided the best reading experience.

Abstract:
Web browsing has been one of the most popular activities on the internet. The increasing importance of the Web in everyday life calls for device-independent access to existing web sites. Although, there is full Web access available on mobile phones the user experience is often poor when compared to the Web user experience on Personal Computer (PC). Therfore, it is important for the Internet service provider to find the indications of user dissatisfaction from the network. While using the mobile Web, user can normally abort the transfer by pressing the stop or reset buttons in the browsers, leaving the page being downloaded by following a bookmark or can close the connection. Such events can be observed through the TCP reset (RST) flag from traffic on network level. In this thesis we have investigated the possible causes of TCP RST flags mobile Web session is interrupted. We further analyze up to what extent we can rely on TCP RST flags for being an indication of user dissatisfaction in mobile web browsing. Therefore, an experiment testbed is developed to capture the TCP packet traces during controlled active tests. Results are gathered using mobile devices with four popular mobile operating systems (OS). The trace files captured are analyzed using perl script to dicern the flow and focusing on the TCP RST flag during the flow. Further, TSTAT tool is used to validate our trace files.

Abstract:
User perceived latency is the most prominent performance issue influencing the World Wide Web (www) presently. Hyper-Text Transfer Protocol(HTTP) and Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) have been the backbone of web transport for decades, thus received a lot of attention recently due to end-to-end performance degradation in mobile environments. Inefficiencies of HTTP and TCP strongly affect web response time mainly in resource limited devices. HTTP compression reduces some of the burden imposed by TCP slow start phase. However, compression is still an underutilized feature of the web today [1]. In order to fulfill the end user expectations, we can optimize HTTP to improve Page Load Time (PLT), low memory usage and better network utilization. SPDY, a web latency reducing protocol and HTTP pipelining are a recent proposal to provide faster information exchange over web. Through the course of this work, we present a comprehensive study of new approaches to reduce mobile web latency. At first, we measure the PLT after implementing SPDY, HTTP and HTTP pipelining. Secondly, we also analyze the performance of these protocols after tuning the network parameters like bandwidth and round-trip time (RTT). Finally, we compare the performance of HTTP and other latency reducing protocols. We have conducted all experiments over DummyNet under user-configured network conditions. We critically discuss the challenges of shifting from HTTP to these latency-reducing protocols.

Abstract:
This thesis has taken part as an experimental development within the Learning Ecology through Science with Global Outcomes project. It introduces the area of cross platform mobile application development and provides a possible solution for tackling the current fragmentation of mobile devices and platforms for data collection. During the process, a mobile data collection prototype was designed, implemented and deployed on Android, iOS and Windows Mango by using standards and web standards such as HTML5, CSS3, XForms and JavaScript. The deployed prototype was then tested with users in order to collect the necessary data to help answer the questions that were formulated. The results indicate an ease of use of the prototype in relation to cross platform development and also shows potential benefits such as less code and time. Cross platform development provides a way to counteract the current fragmentation between mobile platforms.

Abstract:
As mobile devices become more common when surfing the web there is an increasing demand of making web sites adjusted to other devices than computers. One common platform on the web is Microsoft SharePoint. In this report I look into one method of how to develop web sites that work on multiple devices in Microsoft SharePoint. I will be looking into different techniques as separate web sites compared to responsive web design. By exploring the approach of mobile first I try to find a working solution of techniques. I also look into another method that is suggested in a book and look into how Bootstrap could be used in the process. I will also look into content to identify what content need to be adjusted between different devices. I find that navigation is an important part of a web site and look into different methods of handling navigation on mobile devices. By analyzing different techniques and looking into what content is going to be adjusted a solution is proposed where the navigation is adjusted in a responsive design. The design is converted into a SharePoint masterpage and then fixed using stylesheets and JavaScript. The solution works on a web site with a complex site structure since it focuses on how to adjust the navigation.

Abstract:
Advancements in web technology such as the integration of operating platforms, the application of mobile applets and connectivity with databases into an encompassing web environment has promoted the development of complex web-based systems for enterprise computing. In this integration the inherent security flaws and associated problems of these technological advancements are also brought together under this web environment. These flaws, when exploited, could lead to system compromises of various kinds including stealing of security sensitive information, system take-over fabrication of fake electronic documents and illegal alteration to web sites contents. Therefore, the successful, prompt and appropriate responses of these complex web-based systems to security threats and breaches, such as in the cases of document tampering and misrepresentation from illegal users, are imperative in promoting the user's willingness and confidence when interacting with these systems. Accordingly, this has become one of the major concerns in development, management and operation of web-based systems. This thesis also studies the authentication of dynamic web contents through the application of a one-time digital signature. To this effect, relevant concepts and possible approaches have been discussed. Authentication and verification of dynamic contents, efficiently in the web environment, is suggested as a separate research area and as a direction for future work.
