Full textThe company System Andersson is developing systems for controlling materials and production in industries. They want to add a new service, where parts of those systems are accessible through cell phones.
In this paper we are investigating which technology are best suited for this kind of application. And then we describe how we are developing a prototype fort this application, based upon that technology. After investigating technologies such as Java ME, Microsoft Silverlight, and web applications we settled upon building the system as a web application, customized for a mobile environment.
To build a web page which is readable by many different cell phones we use the markup-languages which are developed for cell phones. We put much effort in reading about the standards and recommendations for the mobile web, produced by the organizations W3C and OMA. It's also very important that one consider the limitations of cell phones, such as the small screens, their limited performance and their limited means of input and navigation. Finally we are very thorough in our testing on several cell phones created by different manufacturers and with different operating systems and web browsers.
On the server we are running ASP.NET, with a database using Microsoft SQL Server, since this was a request from the company. The development is made in C#.
We reach a fully operational application with the functions that the company has requested. We got functions for handling orders, changing jobs, supply management, listing employees, and more. We also got a class for generating and rendering of lists and tables for easy and customizable lists for small screens. The application has support for several users with a secure login function.
We have also created a system running as a service in Microsoft Windows, which is regularly sending messages, in the form of e-mails to the users of the mobile application. The messages contain user defined reminders, e.g. that the factory is running low on a certain material. The message system is well integrated with the rest of the system, in which one can list the active reminders, edit them or create new ones.
Overall this has been an interesting and successful project.

Examensarbetet utfördes åt Flex Datasystem AB i deras mobila webbapplikation, Flex WebApp. P g a gjorda avgränsningar under projektets gång implementerades endast funktionalitet för utläggstypen ersättningar.

Full textAbstract In today's traffic, congestion occurs on a daily basis due to different events in the traffic, such as accidents, wildlife or other hazards. Queues are often formed due to lack of information or late broadcasting of information about the events. This work develops a simple web service aimed at users who want and can report in the daily events that affect traffic flow. The service is fast to load on mobile devices and includes a simple form for reporting of events, based on four main types. Data are published not only on the web service but are also spread on to three different social networking services and blogs. One problem with the web application that was not resolved during the work is the adaption to different screen sizes for different mobile devices. The performance of the rescaling varies with screen size and browser of the mobile device used. A further development of the web application is to implement a system for validation. At present no information is verified by more than the user who initially reported the information, therefore further verification from multiple sources / users is needed to strengthen the credibility of the information.

Full textThe goal of this project was to design a timesheet system for Online CC AB in order to make time reporting more efficient for their customers. The system is a web application that is to be used for time reporting in-which, later on can be exported to a salary system of their choice for salary transactions of personnel. This system is the foundation for a future, all-in-one system with extended functionality. The product was produced using Extreme Programming and Test-Driven Development. During development the development team worked with well-renowned and well-tried methods to ensure a system with the utmost quality. The web application utilizes modern technologies and frame-works for web development – including Microsoft’s ASP.NET MVC 4 and Entity Framework. It’s shown that app development is a diffuse field in which the latest tools within the field do not comparatively simplify the work. A system that works on as-well as mobile units, in the form of a hybrid application, as stationary units, in the form of a web application, demands the development team to be experienced within respective fields. At the end of the project not all requirements are met – however due to us using Test-Driven Development, the system is fully operational. Those requirements that were implemented are done so fully. Furthermore, it’s shown that the latest technologies and frame-works not always are best-suited for usage. More well-tried methods and technologies can in some cases be more appropriate
