Abstract:
Due to a rising mobile device penetration, Web surveys are increasingly accessed and completed on smartphones or tablets instead of desktop computers or laptops. Mobile Web surveys are also gaining popularity as an alternative self-administered data collection mode among survey researchers. We conducted a methodological experiment among iPhone owners and compared the participation and response behavior of three groups of respondents: iPhone owners who started and completed our survey on a desktop or laptop PC, iPhone owners who self-selected to complete the survey on an iPhone, and iPhone owners who started on a PC but were requested to switch to iPhone. We found that respondents who completed the survey on a PC were more likely to be male, to have a lower educational level, and to have more experience with Web surveys than mobile Web respondents, regardless of whether they used the iPhone voluntarily or were asked to switch from a PC to an iPhone. Overall, iPhone respondents had more missing data and took longer to complete the survey than respondents who answered the questions on a PC, but they also showed less straightlining behavior. There are only minimal device differences on survey answers obtained from PCs and iPhones.

Abstract:
AbstractThere is an increasing trend in moving desktop applications to web browsers, even when the web server is running on the same desktop machine. In this paper, we go further in this direction and show how to combine a web server, a web application framework (enhanced to support desktop-like Model–View–Controller interaction) and a context-aware architecture to develop web-based mobile context-aware applications. By using this approach we take advantage of the well-established web paradigm to design the graphical user interfaces (GUIs) and the inherent ability of the web to mash up applications with external components (such as Google Maps). On top of that, since the web server runs on the device itself, the application can access local resources (such as disk space or sensing devices, which are indispensable for context-aware systems) avoiding the sandbox model of the web browsers. To illustrate our approach we show how a mobile hypermedia system has been built on top of our platform.

Abstract:
In the todays Communication world, mobile and its applications are the most emerging trends. Mobile applications are the exact replacements of web based applications. Based on this statistics we are planning to migrate web based application of college library to mobile application. In most of the college website we see applications like latest news, Attendance, Login and Registrations, EBooks, Forums, Results, Chat application, Web Mail, etc.. Based on the same we would to do the same thing in a mobile application. The reason behind the work is that the mobile applications do not need any third party browsers, or they don't need any domain registration. So in order to take the advantages of all this limitations we are planning to develop the mobile applications. Now the main important modules that I want to implement on my mobile application is OPAC (Online Public Access Catalogue) for a library account. Using OPAC mechanism in mobile one can just access the library account of his/her from anywhere using his mobile device, So that they can check the availability of books in the library instead of going to library. They can even check the number of books that are taken in there account and its submission date, fine to be paid in case.

Abstract:
Cross-site scripting vulnerabilities are among the top ten security vulnerabilities affecting web applications for the past decade and mobile version web applications more recently. They can cause serious problems for web users such as loss of personal information to web attackers, including financial and health information, denial of service attacks, and exposure to malware and viruses. Most of the proposed solutions focused only on the Desktop versions of web applications and overlooked the mobile versions. Increasing use of mobile phones to access web applications increases the threat of cross-site scripting attacks on mobile phones. This paper presents work in progress on detecting cross-site scripting vulnerabilities in mobile versions of web applications. It proposes an enhanced genetic algorithm-based approach that detects cross-site scripting vulnerabilities in mobile versions of web applications. This approach has been used in our previous work and successfully detected the said vulnerabilities in Desktop web applications. It has been enhanced and is currently being tested in mobile versions of web applications. Preliminary results have indicated success in the mobile versions of web applications also. This approach will enable web developers find cross-site scripting vulnerabilities in the mobile versions of their web applications before their release.

Abstract:
In Brazil, information systems have been used to support government activities, such as public social and health care. For instance, SIGS is a web information system for management of social programs. Another example of information system is e-SUS for health care data management. Considering that crossing data from social and health care may be useful in decision-making for both areas, the SIGS-S project was proposed. It consists of a web appli- cation and a mobile application for social and health care data management. SIGS-S Web is a web application composed by two subsystems, SIGS-S Web So- cial, resulting of the reengineering of SIGS, and SIGS-S Web Saúde, inspired by data forms from e-SUS. SIGS-S Mobile Saúde is a mobile application to support health data collection. Processes ProFap and ProFap-R were used during their development. As a result, both web and mobile applications, as well as web services to support cross-application data exchange, were developed. Furthermore, it was prepared the documentation for both applications to help future software maintenance. Both applications were developed and validated with participation of stakeholders (health users and government managers).

Abstract:
Accessing the Web from mobile devices is a popular practice. Trends show that the mobile space is becoming the method through which many consumers access content – both through native and web applications. These applications have expanded the browsing experience, but have also complicated the development process. A need exists for a simple, uniform solution which HTML5 is attempting to address. HTML is a mark-up language, now on its fifth edition, used for structuring and presenting content on the World Wide Web. Because of the large increase in users of mobile devices, internet access on these devices is widely used. The creation of web sites, web documents, and applications are done with HTML5, as it is compatible with both PC and mobile device browsers. However, with its lengthy development process, it is not yet apparent if HTML5 can incorporate the demands of developers in a changing environment. This paper provides an overview of the use of HTML5 in structuring and presenting content on the World Wide Web and compatibility issues on mobile browsers, key features, tool’s, and the advantages and disadvantages on the mobile web devices as well as the state of the mobile web.

Abstract:
As the SQL injection attack is still at the top of the list at Open Web Application Security Project (OWASP) for more than one decade, this type of attack created too many types of issues for a web application, sensors, or any similar type of applications, such as leakage of user private data and organization intellectual property, or may cause Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks. This paper focused on the poor coding or invalidated input field which is a big cause of services unavailability for web applications. Secondly, it focused on the selection of program created issues for the WebSocket connections between sensors and the webserver. The number of users is growing to use web applications and mobile apps. These web applications or mobile apps are used for different purposes such as tracking vehicles, banking services, online stores for shopping, taxi booking, logistics, education, monitoring user activities, collecting data, or sending any instructions to sensors, and social websites. Web applications are easy to develop with less time and at a low cost. Due to that, business community or individual service provider’s first choice is to have a website and mobile app. So everyone is trying to provide 24/7 services to its users without any downtime. But there are some critical issues of web application design and development. These problems are leading to too many security loopholes for web servers, web applications, and its user’s privacy. Because of poor coding and validation of input fields, these web applications are vulnerable to SQL Injection and other security problems. Instead of using the latest third-party frameworks, language for website development, and version database server, another factor to disturb the services of a web server may be the socket programming for sensors at the production level. These sensors are installed in vehicles to track or use them for booking mobile apps.

Service-oriented Web applications allow users to exploit applications over networks and access them from a remote system at the client side, including mobile phones. Individual services are built separately with comprehensive functionalities. In this article, the authors transform a standalone offline novelty mining application into a service-oriented application and allow users to access it over the Internet. A novelty mining application mines the novel, yet relevant, information on a topic specified by users. In this article, the authors propose a design for a service-oriented novelty mining application. After deploying their service-oriented novelty mining system on a server, use case scenarios are provided to demonstrate the system. The authors’ service-oriented novelty mining system increases the efficiency of gathering novel information from incoming streams of texts on their mobile devices for users.

Abstract:
The trend towards mobile devices usage has made it possible for the Web to be conceived not only as an information space but also as a ubiquitous platform where users perform all kinds of tasks. In some cases, users access the Web with native mobile applications developed for well-known sites, such as, LinkedIn, Facebook, and Twitter. These native applications might offer further (e.g., location-based) functionalities to their users in comparison with their corresponding Web sites because they were developed with mobile features in mind. However, many Web applications have no native counterpart and users access them using a mobile Web browser. Although the access to context information is not a complex issue nowadays, not all Web applications adapt themselves according to it or diversely improve the user experience by listening to a wide range of sensors. At some point, users might want to add mobile features to these Web sites, even if those features were not originally supported. In this paper, we present a novel approach to allow end users to augment their preferred Web sites with mobile features. We support our claims by presenting a framework for mobile Web augmentation, an authoring tool, and an evaluation with 21 end users.

Abstract:
The information system of online teaching services with geo-location determination is a system that brings together and arranging meetings between private tutors and people looking for private tutors through Android application supported with geo-location. People can go looking for tutors of related subject for specific time of meeting and location, and then the system will search tutors with matched time of availability within nearest location radius. In addition, students can organize or plan a learning meeting session with the teacher through the application. This information system is a client-server based where the built application consists of Android applications running on the client environment and web applications running on the server environment. Mobile/client applications are used by end-users to search and organize learning session. Web applications serves as web services and interfaces for administrator to manage master data, view user and transaction data, print reports, and respond to complaints from end-users. The programming language used in building this information system is the Java programming language for mobile applications and PHP for web applications and web services. And using MySQL as the database.

Abstract:
Purpose This paper aims to discuss the motivation and present the evolution from a Software Product Line (SPL) in the e-Gov Web (e-Gov Web SPL) domain to a SPL in the mobile domain (e-Gov Mobile SPL). Design/methodology/approach The evolution was supported by the Product Line UML-Based Software Engineering approach and the feature model. Findings The authors were able to observe that it is feasible to evolve from a SPL for the Web platform to a SPL for the mobile platform, with the intent to port existing Web applications to mobile platforms such that users can have access to the main information and are able to interact with the most important functionalities of Web applications in a mobile device. Research limitations/implications As for the main limitations, the authors can point out the small number of instantiations performed until the moment with the support of the e-Gov Mobile SPL, what prevented the conduction of an empirical study. Practical implications Using e-Gov Mobile SPL, it is possible to reduce development time and cost. Originality/value The existing SPLs do not worry about supporting the development of mobile applications corresponding to existing Web applications, as it is desirable to have access to the information and main features of these applications in mobile devices. We obtained some e-Gov Mobile SPL instantiations corresponding to e-Gov Web SPL instantiations to attend the demands of the Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation Unit situated at Campo Grande, MS, Brazil.

Abstract:
Mobile and other PDA devices allow us to access the World Wide Web anytime and anywhere using fully functional mobile web browsers. This study utilizes the mobile web to deliver services to register students for courses at Fiji National University (FNU). Developing dynamic web based applications for mobile devices is a challenging task, because these devices have limited processing power and physical memory. In order to overcome these limitations, the author proposed layered architecture for the development of this system. This paper describes the architecture, design and implementation of the new system. Experimental results demonstrate that proposed architecture can effectively reduce the client side resource utilization (processing power and physical memory) of dynamic mobile web based systems. Furthermore the author conclude this paper by outlining future work for research in this area.

Abstract:
With the proliferation of cloud computing technologies, smartphone users are able to use a variety of cloud computing-based mobile services such as games, education, entertainment, and social networking. Despite the popularity of such a mobile cloud computing, the complicated multi-tier system configuration of the mobile application must be one of the major impediments to develop mobile cloud applications. This paper presents development processes and procedures for developing mobile cloud applications by effectively applying Unified Modeling Language (UML), a representative object-oriented modeling language. The paper is intended to enhance the development productivity of the mobile cloud application and to improve the effectiveness of communication between software developers. In addition, we used the Android mobile platform and Amazon Web Service for cloud computing in order to demonstrate the applicability of the proposed approach to systematically apply the UML profiles and diagrams for cloud-based mobile applications.

Abstract:
The complication of the logic of educational web applications raises the issue of the effectiveness of the organization of their implementation. At the same time, efficiency, including pedagogical one, is connected among other factors with the technology of implementation of programs. When using as the main browser program, it is necessary to take into account its features, in particular, one-flow mode of execution of programs (scripts). Implementation of more complex algorithms in web applications delays the response of the application interface to user actions. This creates a discomfort for the user and, as a result, reduces the effectiveness of his work. Expanding the range of devices from which users access the Internet leads to the fact that mobile devices are more and more often used for learning as well. Therefore, another side of the problem is the impact on the quality of connection to the server. It is necessary to ensure the work of the program in case of interruptions in connection or reduce their impact. A solution to the problem may be the implementation of part of the calculations in the background. The article deals with the use of calculations in the background streams of the browser and caching control for educational web applications. Various ways of creating such streams and the peculiarities of their use are analyzed.

Abstract:
This paper recommends that there is an important role of Information Technology in the field of women empowerment such empowerment could easily be seen higher in the Urban and rural Tamil Nadu. There is high time for providing training for the women with the support of the administration for strengthening the National Computer literacy Mission. There must be the provision of allocation of budget and funding for testing conceptual framework at the grass root level to assess the effectiveness of empowering women through Information Technology. In India, women face enormous challenges with respect to health, education, and economic empowerment. For example, maternal mortality and malnutrition remain major problems, about third of women are unable to read and write, and economic opportunities are limited by pervasive discrimination and lack of access to market information. Mobile innovation is transforming lives for the better for women in a variety of ways across India. We recognize that the scaling of women-centered mobile programs and applications can only be achieved with improved financial, commercial, and marketing incentives and of course, cooperation. Thorough mobile application training we hope make a start – by financially supporting and recognizing innovative mobile and Web based applications and their potential in a public forum.

Abstract:
Security issues have become a major issue on the Internet. One of the security methods that are widely used today is to implement a digital certificate. Digital certificates have evolved over time, one of which is the X.509 digital certificate. Digital certificates have been widely used as authentication applications, web network authentication and other authentication systems that require digital certificates. This research is carried out by implementing an X.509 digital certificate technology as a mobile web service with its client. Secure Hash Algorithm (SHA), Diffie-Hellman, and Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) are used to secure the data exchange transaction between the web service and mobile phone. SHA algorithm will be used for user authentication, Diffie-Hellman algorithm will be used for public key exchange and AES algorithms will be used for symmetric cryptography data. The results of the application of digital certificates, the SHA algorithm, Diffie-Hellman, and AES in mobile phone applications, provide security application running on web service.
