Abstract:
Recently, mobile browsing on the World Wide Web is growing rapidly. The growth has created a surge in the number of Web pages designed for mobile devices. To increase the usability of mobile browsing, the Mobile Web Best Practices have been proposed to guide the development of mobile-friendly Web pages. In this paper, the mobileOK checker, a free service provided by W3C, is used to automatically inspect the conformance of 46 popular mobile Web sites to the Mobile Web Best Practices. We analyze the evaluation results and provide suggestions for improving the design of mobile Web sites. In mobile browsing, different mobile devices have different screen sizes, layout structures, and styles to represent Web contents. Furthermore, mobile devices are developing fast. The diversity and fast development of mobile devices cause the mobile design guidelines changing over time. However, the mobileOK checker is not flexible to include new guidelines or customize a best practice rule to fit a specific mobile browsing scenario. To solve this problem, this paper presents a generic approach to represent the mobile design guidelines through an XML schema. Using the XML schema provides the flexibly to support evolving guidelines in an open format. To evaluate our approach, a prototype, WPChecker, has been developed.

Abstract:
Due to advances in mobile phones, mobile Web browsing has become increasingly popular. In this regard, small screens and poor input capabilities of mobile phones prevent users from comfortably browsing Web pages that are designed for desktop PCs. One of the serious problems of mobile Web browsing is that users often get lost in a Web page and can only view a small portion of a Web page at a time, not able to grasp the entire page’s structure to decide which direction their information of interest is located. To solve this problem, an effective technique is to present an overview of the page. Although prior studies adopted the conventional style of overview, that is, a scaled-down image of the page, this is not sufficient because users cannot see details of the contents. Therefore, in this paper, the authors present annotations on a Web page that provides a functionality which automatically scrolls the page. Results of a user experiment show that annotations are informative for users who want to find contents from a large Web page.

Abstract:
In recent years, mobile learning has emerged as an educational approach to decrease the limitation of learning location and adapt the teaching-learning process to all type of students. However, the large number and variety of Web-enabled devices poses challenges for Web content creators who want to automatic get the delivery context and adapt the content to mobile devices. This paper studies several approaches to adapt the learning content to mobile phones. It presents an architecture for deliver uniform m-Learning content to students in a higher School. The system development is organized in two phases: firstly enabling the educational content to mobile devices and then adapting it to all the heterogeneous mobile platforms. With this approach, Web authors will not need to create specialized pages for each kind of device, since the content is automatically transformed to adapt to any mobile device capabilities from WAP to XHTML MP-compliant devices.

LogicWeb mobile code consists of Prolog-like rules embedded in Web pages, thereby adding logic programming behaviour to those pages. Since LogicWeb programs are downloaded from foreign hosts and executed locally, there is a need to protect the client from buggy or malicious code. A security model is crucial for making LogicWeb mobile code safe to execute. This paper presents such a model, which supports programs of varying trust levels by using different resource access policies. The implementation of the model derives from an extended operational semantics for the LogicWeb language, which provides a precise meaning of safety.

Abstract:
AbstractWeb measurement is a powerful approach to studying various tracking practices that may compromise the privacy of millions of users. Researchers have built several measurement frameworks and performed a few studies to measure web tracking on the desktop environment. However, little is known about web tracking on the mobile environment, and no tool is readily available for performing a comparative measurement study on mobile and desktop environments. In this work, we built a framework called WTPatrol that allows us and other researchers to perform web tracking measurement on both mobile and desktop environments. Using WTPatrol, we performed the first comparative measurement study of web tracking on 23,310 websites that have both mobile version and desktop version web-pages. We conducted an in-depth comparison of the web tracking practices of those websites between mobile and desktop environments from two perspectives: web tracking based on JavaScript APIs and web tracking based on HTTP cookies. Overall, we found that mobile web tracking has its unique characteristics especially due to mobile-specific trackers, and it has become increasingly as prevalent as desktop web tracking. However, the potential impact of mobile web tracking is more severe than that of desktop web tracking because a user may use a mobile device frequently in different places and be continuously tracked. We further gave some suggestions to web users, developers, and researchers to defend against web tracking.

Abstract:
The Semantic Web represents an evolution of the World Wide Web towards one of entities and their relationships, rather than pages and links. Such a progression makes it possible to represent, integrate, query and reason about structured online data. Recent years have witnessed tremendous growth of mobile computing, represented by the widespread adoption of smart phones and tablets. The versatility of such smart devices and the capabilities of semantic technologies form a great foundation for a ubiquitous Semantic Web that will contribute to further realising the true potential of both disciplines. In this paper, the authors argue for values provided by the ubiquitous Semantic Web using a mobile service discovery scenario. They also provide a brief overview of state-of-the-art research in this emerging area. Finally, the authors conclude with a summary of challenges and important research problems.

Abstract:
The usage of PDA and mobile devices has dramatically increased recently. However, mobile devices and PDA devices have a limited screen size, which makes it frustrating to browse tabular data on mobile devices since users have to frequently scroll up and down to find the information of interest. This paper presents an efficient means to present HTML-based tables on mobile devices. Based on the column and row headers, the authors adapt a HTML-based Web table into two adaptive styles. The first style displays all information of a table into a single narrow page to avoid horizontal scrolling; and the second style distributes information to different sub-pages, each of which approximately occupies the whole mobile screen, and thus eliminates scrolling. The approach is empirically evaluated using a controlled experiment. The main conclusions derived from the empirical study are: (1) the adaptive layout styles improves the browsing efficiency for individual subjects as compared to HTML web page style, (2) the single narrow adaptive layout resulted in the improved browsing efficiency compared to the multi-page adaptive layout for one-dimensional HTML web page tables, and (3) the multi-page adaptive layout was more efficient than the single narrow adaptive layout for two-dimensional HTML tables.

Our lifestyle has changed and keeps changing with emerging software and hardware technologies. In the same way, mobile devices are changing the way people accessing the Internet. More users have changed from using desktop computers to mobile devices. A mobile device such as smartphones and tablets are widely used devices in accessing the Internet all over the world. From an early investigation, it is found that although mobile devices are highly flexible, accessible, and convenient, their usage to access websites is still average. The objective of this study is to conceptualize the factors that drive users to access websites through mobile devices. This study presents the scenario and the current situation of mobile web usage among mobile device users. It further critically discusses the role of three constructs namely, convenience, compatibility, and media richness in explaining the user’s intention to use the mobile web. The study adopts the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) to understand what factors affect usage intention of the mobile web, an important topic for current and future research. The limitations lie in the depth of investigation where the empirical investigation should be conducted in future studies to prove the findings of this conceptual study. This study aims to explain the factors that will influence the intention to access mobile websites. Determining those factors will help web designers to develop mobile web pages that will be preferred by its users. Improving user’s experience of accessing the web through mobile devices will enable web service providers to offer web services more effectively that will satisfy the needs of the users.

Abstract:
In a large collection of web pages, it is difficult for search engines to keep their online repository updated. Major search engines have hundreds of web crawlers that crawl the WWW day and night and send the downloaded web pages via a network to be stored in the search engine’s database. These results in over utilization of network resources like bandwidth, CPU cycles and so on. This paper proposes an architecture that tries to reduce the utilization of shared network resources with the help of an advanced XML based approach. This focused crawling based architecture is trained to download only the high quality data from the internet leaving behind the web pages which are not relevant to the desired domain. Here, a detailed layout of the proposed system is described which is capable of reducing the load on network and reducing the problem arise in residency of mobile agent at the remote server.

The mobile technology revolutionizes the world of communications opening up new possibilities for applications such as location based web search. It involves retrieving the user point of interest (POI) from the web documents based on the query relative to a particular place or region. Existing Location based Applications on mobiles finds the nearest neighbors from the POI database not from the web documents. The existing query searches are limited to POI and do not include data objects brands like Model name, color and price etc. This paper introduces a Spatial Web Crawler (SWC) for multi-constrained keyword queries. New algorithms were developed which provides desired data objects from the web pages basing on the working hours of data objects, keywords and priority such as cost, quality and popularity of data objects etc. The SWC also provides the shortest path to reach point of interest based on travel time.

Abstract:
The extensive adoption of mobile devices in our everyday lives, apart from facilitating us through their various enhanced capabilities, has also raised serious privacy concerns. While mobile devices are equipped with numerous sensors which offer context-awareness to their installed apps, they can also be exploited to reveal sensitive information when correlated with other data or sources. Companies have introduced a plethora of privacy invasive methods to harvest users’ personal data for profiling and monetizing purposes. Nonetheless, up till now, these methods were constrained by the environment they operate, e.g., browser versus mobile app, and since only a handful of businesses have actual access to both of these environments, the conceivable risks could be calculated and the involved enterprises could be somehow monitored and regulated. This work introduces some novel user deanonymization approaches for device and user fingerprinting in Android. Having Android AOSP as our baseline, we prove that web pages, by using several inherent mechanisms, can cooperate with installed mobile apps to identify which sessions operate in specific devices and consequently further expose users’ privacy.

Abstract:
Internet traffic is experiencing rapid growth, with the majority of traffic generated from video steaming, web data services and Internet of Things. As these services include the transmission of small data, such as web pages, video chunks and sensing data, data latency affects the quality of experience rather than the throughput. Therefore, this study aims to decrease latency to improve the quality of the user experience. To this end, we measure the web service delay and throughput in mobile networks. The results indicate a low quality experience for mobile users, even though mobile networks support a large throughput. We therefore propose a light-weight latency reduction scheme for the Quick UDP Internet Connections (QUIC) protocol. The proposed scheme calculates the average congestion window, which is utilized as the initial congestion window when a new connection is established. The proposed scheme is evaluated through experiments on a testbed. The results show that our scheme reduces latency significantly. The results of this study can help improve user experiences of video streaming and web data services.

Abstract:
Text summarization remains a challenging task in the natural language processing field despite the plethora of applications in enterprises and daily life. One of the common use cases is the summarization of web pages which has the potential to provide an overview of web pages to devices with limited features. In fact, despite the increasing penetration rate of mobile devices in rural areas, the bulk of those devices offer limited features in addition to the fact that these areas are covered with limited connectivity such as the GSM network. Summarizing web pages into SMS becomes, therefore, an important task to provide information to limited devices. This work introduces WATS-SMS, a T5-based French Wikipedia Abstractive Text Summarizer for SMS. It is built through a transfer learning approach. The T5 English pre-trained model is used to generate a French text summarization model by retraining the model on 25,000 Wikipedia pages then compared with different approaches in the literature. The objective is twofold: (1) to check the assumption made in the literature that abstractive models provide better results compared to extractive ones; and (2) to evaluate the performance of our model compared to other existing abstractive models. A score based on ROUGE metrics gave us a value of 52% for articles with length up to 500 characters against 34.2% for transformer-ED and 12.7% for seq-2seq-attention; and a value of 77% for articles with larger size against 37% for transformers-DMCA. Moreover, an architecture including a software SMS-gateway has been developed to allow owners of mobile devices with limited features to send requests and to receive summaries through the GSM network.

E-learning is an innovative approach for delivering electronically mediated, well-designed, learner-centred interactive learning environments by utilizing internet and digital technologies with respect to instructional design principles. This paper presents the application of Software Development techniques in the development of a Mobile Based E-learning system that facilitates learning in a University environment. The developed application presents a system where a student after registration, has access to various functions that can improve the process of learning. Web pages were developed to serve as the user interface to the MLS and provide all the services needed for an E-learning portal including assessment and provision of feedback to learners. A portal exists for lecturers to upload learning contents and students’ examination results. The online portal uses Apache HTTP server as its web server, MySQL for relational database management and PHP as the scripting language to serve as a communication gateway between the back end and the users. The system was tested and evaluated with satisfactory results. This work, if adopted in schools to aid conventional learning, is expected to immensely improve the learning process and performance of students.

Abstract:
Purpose Web search is more and more moving into mobile contexts. However, screen size of mobile devices is limited and search engine result pages face a trade-off between offering informative snippets and optimal use of space. One factor clearly influencing this trade-off is snippet length. The purpose of this paper is to find out what snippet size to use in mobile web search. Design/methodology/approach For this purpose, an eye-tracking experiment was conducted showing participants search interfaces with snippets of one, three or five lines on a mobile device to analyze 17 dependent variables. In total, 31 participants took part in the study. Each of the participants solved informational and navigational tasks. Findings Results indicate a strong influence of page fold on scrolling behavior and attention distribution across search results. Regardless of query type, short snippets seem to provide too little information about the result, so that search performance and subjective measures are negatively affected. Long snippets of five lines lead to better performance than medium snippets for navigational queries, but to worse performance for informational queries. Originality/value Although space in mobile search is limited, this study shows that longer snippets improve usability and user experience. It further emphasizes that page fold plays a stronger role in mobile than in desktop search for attention distribution.

Abstract:
Google’s Material Design, created in 2014, led to the extended application of floating action buttons (FAB) in user interfaces of web pages and mobile applications. FAB’s roll is to trigger an activity either on the present screen, or it can play out an activity that makes another screen. A few specialists in user experience (UX) and user interface (UI) design are sceptical regarding the usability of FAB in the interfaces of both web pages and mobile applications. They claim that the use of FAB easily distracts users and that it interferes with using other important functions of the applications, and it is unusable in applications designed for iOS systems. The aim of this paper is to investigate by an experiment the quality of experience (QoE) of a static and animated FAB and compare it to the toolbar alternative. The experimental results of different testing methods rejected the hypothesis that the usage and animation of this UI element has a positive influence on the application usability. However, its static and animated utilization enhanced the ratings of hedonic and aesthetic features of the user experience, justifying the usage of this type of button.

In this paper, we present the results of an empirical study that aims to evaluate the performance of sighted and blind people to discriminate web page structures using vibrotactile feedback. The proposed visuo-tactile substitution system is based on a portable and economical solution that can be used in noisy and public environments. It converts the visual structures of web pages into tactile landscapes that can be explored on any mobile touchscreen device. The light contrasts overflown by the fingers are dynamically captured, sent to a micro-controller, translated into vibrating patterns that vary in intensity, frequency and temperature, and then reproduced by our actuators on the skin at the location defined by the user. The performance of the proposed system is measured in terms of perception of frequency and intensity thresholds and qualitative understanding of the shapes displayed.

A tool able to recommend suitable resources at the right time in each situation would be of great help for the mobile users and would make the use of the handheld devices less boring and more attractive. To this aim, new levels of granularity, together with some degree of self-awareness, are needed to assist mobile users in managing and using resources. In this paper, we propose an efficient situation-aware resource recommender (SARR), which helps mobile users to timely locate resources proactively. Situations are determined by a semantic reasoner that exploits domain knowledge expressed in terms of ontologies and semantic rules. This reasoner works in synergy with a fuzzy engine, which is in charge of handling the vagueness of some conditions in the semantic rules, computing a certainty degree for each inferred situation. These degrees are used to rank the situations and consequently to assign a priority to the resources associated with the specific situations. The application of SARR to two real business cases is also shown and discussed.

Student council election is a routine school activity every year, but currently the student council election is done manually using ballot papers containing the candidates. The weakness of this system is in addition to the process of getting longer results, it is also prone to fraud due to the excess of manipulated ballot papers, as well as being less environmentally friendly. Therefore the need for a system that is able to provide solutions to these problems, one of which is a responsive web-based student council election system. Web-based systems are more common than mobile-based systems, because they are supported by all device platforms, different if only based on mobile (Android), only devices based on the Android operating system can use the application. Moreover, web technology is now very good, responsive web allows the display of web pages to adjust to the user's screen size automatically, responsive web framework used in this study is bootstrap. In this study, researchers used a software development model which is a prototype. And for the tools used in developing this application is the Unified Modeling Language, and the system testing method uses a blackbox. The results of this study are expected to provide results in the form of a system that is fast and accurate, cost effective and environmentally friendly.

Abstract:
The popularity of smartphones and mobile applications has experienced a considerable growth during the recent years, and this growth is expected to continue in the future. Since smartphones have only very limited energy resources, battery efficiency is one of the determining factors for a good user experience. Therefore, some smartphones tear down connectionsto the mobile network soon after a completed data transmission to reduce the power consumption of their transmission unit. However, frequent connection reestablishments caused by apps which send or receive small amounts of data often lead to a heavy signalling load within the mobile network. One of the major contributions of this paper is the investigation of the resulting tradeoff between energy consumption at the smartphone and the generated signalling traffic in the mobile network. We explain that this tradeoff can be controlled by the connection release timeout and study the impact of this parameter for a number of popular apps that cover a wide range of traffic characteristics in terms of bandwidth requirements and resulting signalling traffic. Finally, we study the impact of the timer settings on Quality of Experience (QoE) for web traffic. This is an important aspect since connection establishments not only lead to signalling traffic but also increase the load time of web pages.

Abstract:
Web-based applications have become the new way for people to interact, be it work or business. Users always expect a fast response from the applications. The performance of web-based applications has always been a critical non-functional requirement. A better performing web-based system leads to better user experience which leads to repeated visits and in turn more revenues. Performance problems can bring all kinds of undesired consequences like bad reputation, loss of revenue and low productivity especially in an e-commerce system. Recent advancement leads to mobile device proliferation, increase in traffic volumes and richer content, which all increase application delivery challenges. Users not only expect fast application response time, but also expect higher throughput. In this work an e-commerce system is created, a performance tuning up was done on it to reduce the number of HTTP requests made and also reduce the size and number of pages and images in the system. Other ways of performance optimization were also considered. The system's performance was tested before and after performance tuning up, a load test was also done for 3000, 5000 and 10000 concurrent users. The results were compared to see the effect of the performance optimization techniques used.

Abstract:
Augmented reality is a scientific field well known for more than twenty years. Although there is a huge number of projects that present promising results, the real usage of augmented reality applications for fulfilling common tasks is almost negligible. We believe that one of the principal reasons is insufficient usability of these applications. The situation is analogous to the desktop, mobile or cloud application development or even to the web pages design. The first phase of a technology adoption is the exploration of its potential. As soon as the technical problems are overcome and the technology is widely accepted, the usability is a principal issue. The usability is utmost important also from the business point of view. The cost of augmented reality implementation into the production process is substantial, therefore, the usability that is directly responsible for the implemented solution effectiveness must be appropriately tested. Consequently, the benefit of the implemented solution can be measured. This article briefly outlines common techniques used for usability evaluation. Discussed techniques were designed especially for evaluation of desktop applications, mobile solutions and web pages. In spite of this drawback, their application on augmented reality products is usually possible. Further, a review of existing augmented reality project evaluations is presented.Based on this review, a usability evaluation method for our augmented prototyping application is proposed. This method must overcome the fact that the design is a creative process. Therefore, it is not possible to take into account common criteria such as time consumption.

Collecting data from process equipment is currently an interesting task. The use of complex SCADA systems is not always possible and is usually an expensive solution. For some tasks, in-depth analysis of the received technological information is not needed, but visualization of the necessary data is sufficient. In control systems, it is usually not possible to create custom HMI screens. The use of new approaches based on web technologies and cloud solutions allows collecting and visualizing data on web pages and screens of mobile devices. The article shows a solution for collecting data from a CNC system using the OPC UA protocol and subsequent data visualization based on the FRED cloud platform in the required format with the ability to configure HMI screens.

Currently, the number of resources available on the Internet is significantly increasing. It then has a large amount of information, but without mastering the content. In this vast data warehouse, the research of modern information search engines does not allow users to get results for their queries that exactly meet their needs. This is largely due to indexing methods (keywords, thesaurus). The result is that the network user spends most of their time exploring a large number of web pages, looking for what they need, because the network does not provide services in this direction. The article presents the technology of creating a bibliographic information search system. We also consider the issues of choosing the environment for creating an information search system and establishing advanced information search modes (standard, advanced, professional, dictionary, etc.).

Abstract:
Food delivery services become more popular in Indonesia, which is proven by the number of restaurants that provide delivery services such as KFC, Mc Donald, and others. They are still using the phone to serve the customers. For customers, ordering by phone is less interactive since they cannot see the display of available menus with the prices and other details. For the cashiers, ordering by phone is also less effective since they have to write the menus, prices and addresses manually, whereas nowadays we need automation and the speed becomes a very important factor. This system is using Mobile Web technology and Geographical Information System (GIS), which with this technology the customers can order anywhere, and the order pages will be more interactive. For the cashiers, with this GIS, they do not need to record the data order manually. For food deliver, with the technology of GIS, food delivery processes will become easier due to the visualization of the location of customers, and they also can use the existing tracking features in GIS. The system implements the concept of client-server where the server website is used by restaurants, and mobile websites as client are used by customers for ordering food. The Web server has a notification ordering feature, administrator management, menus management, order management, suggestion management, restaurant management, and financial reports. Client's website has a food order feature, geolocation, and send suggestions features to the restaurant.

Abstract:
Background Despite the increasing amount of research on Web-based mental health interventions with proven efficacy, high attrition rates decrease their effectiveness. Continued process evaluations should be performed to maximize the target population’s engagement. Google Analytics has been used to evaluate various health-related Web-based programs and may also be useful for Web-based mental health programs. Objective The objective of our study was to evaluate WalkAlong.ca, a youth-oriented mental health web-portal, using Google Analytics to inform the improvement strategy for the platform and to demonstrate the use of Google Analytics as a tool for process evaluation of Web-based mental health interventions. Methods Google Analytics was used to monitor user activity during WalkAlong’s first year of operation (Nov 13, 2013-Nov 13, 2014). Selected Google Analytic variables were overall website engagement including pages visited per session, utilization rate of specific features, and user access mode and location. Results The results included data from 3076 users viewing 29,299 pages. Users spent less average time on Mindsteps (0 minute 35 seconds) and self-exercises (1 minute 08 seconds), which are important self-help tools, compared with that on the Screener tool (3 minutes 4 seconds). Of all visitors, 82.3% (4378/5318) were desktop users, followed by 12.7 % (677/5318) mobile phone and 5.0% (263/5318) tablet users. Both direct traffic (access via URL) and referrals by email had more than 7 pages viewed per session and longer than average time of 6 minutes per session. The majority of users (67%) accessed the platform from Canada. Conclusions Engagement and feature utilization rates are higher among people who receive personal invitations to visit the site. Low utilization rates with specific features offer a starting place for further exploration of users in order to identify the root cause. The data provided by Google Analytics, although informative, can be supplemented by other evaluation methods (ie, qualitative methods) in order to better determine the modifications required to improve user engagement. Google Analytics can play a vital role in highlighting the preferences of those using Web-based mental health tools.

Abstract:
Although Portals can aggregate and integrate applications “at the glass” on desktop PCs and laptop browsers, more users expect to access Portals on their mobile devices. The challenges to support multiple devices are difficult. Standard HTML web pages cannot be delivered to most mobile devices, which have different capabilities like screen sizes, image formats, and input methods. With thousands of devices and the frequent introduction of new devices, how can a Portal support the many types of mobile devices connecting to the Portal’s many applications? In this paper, the authors discuss the issues and solutions to this many-to-many relationship. IBM Mobile Portal Accelerator provides multiple device support from a Portal by using a version of XHTML called XDIME as the content markup and a multi-channel component coupled with a device repository to provide the proper device specific view. As a result, the page that is sent to the device is appropriate for that specific device and its capabilities, where no horizontal scrolling is required, all information fits on the screen, forms work, and all images are rendered properly, creating a positive user experience.

Abstract:
Abstract Objectives The Baby-Act trial is an intervention to prevent infant obesity by promoting healthy infant physical activity, sleep, and eating behaviors among mothers participating in WIC in Puerto Rico. The intervention is delivered through a mobile application. Upon launching the study platform, many Baby-Act participants reported difficulties. Issues included site specific such as poor connectivity, or platform specific (platform required several steps to download, register, and save/send data after completing each lesson). Barriers to adequate dissemination of intervention content, demanded the systematic assessment of potential solutions of challenges as reported by participants to achieve study goals. Our objective was to evaluate a web-based educational platform (www.lessonly.com) as an alternative for intervention delivery in the Baby-Act Trial in a sample similar to the main study population. This alternate platform is an easy and simple educational website that can be accessed by a link sent by text messages on their mobile phones. Methods WIC nutritionists collaborated to identify active WIC participants and invite them to participate in a semi-structured face-to-face interview. Participants were provided with an Informative Sheet and instructions to access the webpage, register as users and complete intervention lessons. After completing the tasks, trained interviewers asked about their experience accessing the page, registration and completion of lessons. Additional questions included adequacy of instructions and user confidence. Field notes were taken for analysis. Results A total of 9 participants completed the interview; 100% reported ease in accessing and registering on the platform and being able to view the pages without distortion. A total of 89% were able to successfully complete at least one lesson (one participant had very poor signal). Furthermore, 100% reported being confident in using the page and stated they would use it again. Conclusions The study found this website to be user-friendly and a viable alternative to mobile apps for future intervention delivery among WIC participants. Abstract:
Web archives are repositories of unique sources on the history of the information society, including the cultural segment of the World Wide Web. The relevance of studying the web history of museum information resources refers to the need to understand the past and contemporary processes of the development of the museum's digital environment in order to more effectively build strategies for future advancement with a valuable impact on society. The article, for the first time, attempts to assess the information potential of web archives for studying the web history of virtual museums and discusses the limitations that prevent the reconstruction of their web history. Web archives are designed to observe web pages and web sites saved at a certain point in time; they analyze the structure and content of the museum web, interpret the visual aids and sections' titles, and track statistics of publication activity. Tracing changes in the role and significance of the digital environment in museum activities, as well as trends in the development of museums, and predicting future trajectories are possible based on the analysis of the dynamics of museums' web content. At the same time, the peculiarities of search engines in web archives, technical restrictions, incompatibility of modern software with earlier formats, limits on scanning information on the World Wide Web to save it, uneven preservation by domain zones in the Internet Archive, and the lack of specialized web preservation programs at national and regional levels restraint the possibility of a comprehensive study of the history of virtual museums. The author concludes that it is necessary to expand national web archiving programs in favour of a more detailed preservation of the cultural segment of the web as a digital cultural heritage, as well as the content of social networks and mobile applications, for future use by researchers.

Abstract:
Monetizing websites and web apps through online advertising is widespread in the web ecosystem, creating a billion-dollar market. This has led to the emergence of a vast network of tertiary ad providers and ad syndication to facilitate this growing market. Nowadays, the online advertising ecosystem forces publishers to integrate ads from these third-party domains. On the one hand, this raises several privacy and security concerns that are actively being studied in recent years. On the other hand, the ability of today's browsers to load dynamic web pages with complex animations and Javascript has also transformed online advertising. This can have a significant impact on webpage performance. The latter is a critical metric for optimization since it ultimately impacts user satisfaction. Unfortunately, there are limited literature studies on understanding the performance impacts of online advertising which we argue is as important as privacy and security. In this paper, we apply an in-depth and first-of-a-kind performance evaluation of web ads. Unlike prior efforts that rely primarily on adblockers, we perform a fine-grained analysis on the web browser's page loading process to demystify the performance cost of web ads. We aim to characterize the cost by every component of an ad, so the publisher, ad syndicate, and advertiser can improve the ad's performance with detailed guidance. For this purpose, we develop a tool, adPerf, for the Chrome browser that classifies page loading workloads into ad-related and main-content at the granularity of browser activities. Our evaluations show that online advertising entails more than 15% of browser page loading workload and approximately 88% of that is spent on JavaScript. On smartphones, this additional cost of ads is 7% lower since mobile pages include fewer and well-optimized ads. We also track the sources and delivery chain of web ads and analyze performance considering the origin of the ad contents. We observe that 2 of the well-known third-party ad domains contribute to 35% of the ads performance cost and surprisingly, top news websites implicitly include unknown third-party ads which in some cases build up to more than 37% of the ads performance cost.

Abstract:
During the nineties the main trend in the development of the applications was the supply of support and accessibility for the computers connected on the internet to a wide range of informational resources (data basis, applications). A witness in this are the numerous languages and technologies which permit an easy development of the applications for the processing of data bases with a simple web browser as, for example, the script languages ASP, PHP, JSP etc. Many changes took place in the last years regarding the informational needs or the equipments used by different users. So, today not only the computers are connected on the internet, but also a wide range of equipments as mobile phones and many home utility devices. As a result of these needs, it became an imperative necessity the conception of an universal language that be understood by all these diverse equipments. XML is the answer to this requirement, this language representing a new step in the development of the informational epoch. XML appeared as a consequence of the limits of the HTML (the language of the web pages), this last one being incapable to use data for other applications.

Abstract:
Professional social network gives companies a platform to post hiring information and locate professional talents. However, the professional network has a great number of users who generate huge amount of information every day, which makes it difficult for the hiring company to distinguish reliability of users' information and evaluate their professional abilities. In this context, this article bases on LinkedIn Mobile as the online professional social network and proposes a research approach to effectively identify unreliable information and evaluate users' abilities. First, the authors look for relevant social network profiles for a cross-site check. Second, on a single professional social networking they site, the authors check the similarity between the user's background and his connections' backgrounds, to detect any possible unreliable information. Third, they propose an algorithm to rank the trustfulness of users' recommendations based on a PageRank algorithm that was traditionally to evaluate the importance of web pages.
