Full textAbstract: Cardiac muscle is an organ that adapts to different hemodynamic stress by activating protein synthesis and increasing cardiomyocytes size, resulting in cardiac hypertrophy. The objective of this PhD is to study the potential role of TRPM4 channel in different types of cardiac hypertrophy. Impaired diastolic Ca2+ is responsible for the initial signal activating signaling pathways in a deleterious cardiac hypertrophy pathological type such as Calcineurin-NFAT pathway and the re-expression of fetal genes. This hypertrophy is first compensatory and preserves the myocardial pump function. This alteration can be carried out by various stimuli such as increased angiotensin II or by cardiovascular diseases such as myocardial infarction and hypertension. However, a beneficial cardiac hypertrophy is also described in the literature, especially during development stages during embryogenesis or even in response to regular moderate physical activity. It is characterized by the activation one different signaling pathway, the IGF-1 - PI3K –Akt, generated by an increase in growth factor levels that is the insulin growth factor -1. These signaling pathways have been widely described in the literature and cross-talking. TRPM4 channel is a nonselective cation channel permeable equally to Na+ and K+, impermeable to Ca2+ but activated by the intracellular Ca2+. In the immune system, it downregulates Ca2+ entry and therefore appears to be involve in many Ca2+-dependent cellular functions in different cell types. By the use of two models of cardiac hypertrophy, a physiological generated by four weeks of training in endurance and pathological after myocardial infarction induced by ligation of the left coronary artery on wild-type and knockout mice -out (KO) for TRPM4 channel, we have demonstrated a functional expression increased TRPM4 channel within the left ventricle associated with down-regulation of Ca2 + entry. TRPM4 the channel being a regulator of calcium homeostasis in cardiomyocytes functional expression after myocardial infarction as well as the drive promotes the activation of the pathway of IGF-1-PI3K-Akt and partially prevents the pathway activation of the NFAT-calcineurin and the development of pathological cardiac hypertrophy, in particular myocardial infarction model. Indeed, in the absence of expression of the channel, the Ca2 + is not regulated, the path of Calcineurin-NFAT is favored. Keywords: TRPM4, cardiac hypertrophy, training, IGF-1-PI3K-Akt, calcineurin

Full textThis PhD research focuses on the modeling and simulation of mobile satellite radio propagation channels in constrained areas, e. G. , build-up, urban and suburban areas. More precisely, the aim of the work is to develop a high performance model to predict the received signal behavior, in particular, the slow-fading and fast-fading. Based on a hybrid concept, we propose a novel channel model combining a deterministic approach (raytracing) and two statistical models : Nakagami-m and lognormal. The model was developed at L-band but is easily extensible to S-band. The context of this study and a state of art of the existing channel models are first introduced in chapter 1 of this thesis. After describing their advantages and drawbacks, we present the hybrid concept of our channel model. The work of chapter 2 aims at the selection of the fast-fading model. We use the Kolmogorov–Smirnov test and Kullback–Leibler test (with optimal histograms base on information theory) to compare the goodness of fit of different statistical models regarding to simulated sample signals. The third chapter is divided into two complementary studies as LOS and NLOS areas need to be modeled using optimum statistical laws. Based on deterministic simulations in Toulouse city areas using geosynchronous satellites, the channel behavior is studied from which we deduce our semi-deterministic model. It takes into account of the receiving site’s specificities and leads to dynamic statistical parameter setup. Finally, the use of the hybrid model is presented in chapter 4. We show the interest of our model by comparing the hybrid simulated signals to purely deterministically simulated ones in terms of precision and simulation time. In addition, the extensibility of our model is studied in order to use non-geosynchronous satellites

Full textLn this dissertation are given the results of a study of microwave links during multipath propagation. The aim of this study was to settle a prevision method of the quality of a link. The method used is based on a mathematical modelling of the transfer function of the propagation channel on a bandwidth about 50 MHz wide. An overview of the present knowledge of mu1tipath phenomenon is first given; the PACEM 1 experiment, which gave most of the experimental support, is then described. It is shown that three mathematical models, each one having three parameters, can be used. Their relationship with the physical multipath model are established. The joint probability laws of the model parameters are then studied on three different links. It is observed that the mathematical form is the same on all links, except for the values of two statistical coefficients. Aknowledge of the numerical values of these coefficients allows one to predict the quality of a link. In the last part of the study is shown how to deduce a rather good estimation of these coefficients from simple propagation data. In conclusion, critical points needing more studies, and future planned experiments, are enumerated

Full textThis thesis focuses on the modeling of the propagation channel in industrial environments. In this context, the propagation channel has a different behavior than typically encountered in indoor. This is due to the construction of buildings that are larger and open and the presence of machines, moving objects and metal materials encountered in these environments. Thus, the existing indoor channel models are not valid. Using deterministic models as an alternative is possible, but limited by the computing time.To address this problem, we propose a hybrid channel model for communications in industrial environments inspired by a ray tracing method and Winner model. The originality of this model is its hybrid nature consisting, in preprocessing, in partitionning the environment in areas of visibility or non-visibility «weak» and «strong» based on deterministic criteria related to the wave propagation. A statistical model, as WINNER , using the concept of cluster is then played in each of these areas and faithfully reproducing the evolution of the characteristic parameters of the identified clusters. We have validated our model by comparing it firstly to a deterministic model and then to measurement. Its robustness as well that of WINNER are tested by simulating them in three different environments and by comparing them with the deterministic model

Full textThis work is part of the research activities of the Hydraulic Machines Laboratory of the Laval University and its objective is to contribute to the characterisation of the intake flow in a model of a bulb turbine. The representation of the mean velocity fields and the turbulent fluctuations under predefined operating conditions were obtained by the use of a LDV measurement system. Mass-flow imbalance and vortices in the intake channel were identified. The conception of an obstacle geometry causing a non-uniformity in the intake channel has been developed taking in consideration the predictions of numerical simulation. Numerical simulations of the complete machine for both steady and unsteady case were performed with and without obstacle in the intake channel. The objective of this process was to evaluate the influence of the intake flow condition on the turbine performances. Moreover, comparisons between experimental and numerical quantities were made.
