Full textThe company in morocco appers among the organizations which were subject to the influences of the evolution of the total environment of the moroccan society by emergence, in end of last century? new media and socio-economic stakes whose effects on the entrepreneurial organization is the constant tendency to set up structures taking care of the communication. The moroccan company, have regard with the characteristics of its management, defines modes of management in which practice of the communication revert of the particular significations. With part of a double investigation contining autoadministered questionnaires which related to a sample of the companies in in morocco (large private and public companies of the multinationals and small and medium-sized undertakings) and the agencies of communication, we carried out a comparative approch of the methods of management of the function communication. . Analysis, relating to three contexts (structural context (logics of structuring), individual context (analyses characteristics of the communication director's) and strategic context (existence and formation of the strategy of communication), allowed to define yhe ambivalence of strategic management and intuitive management in the moroccan company according to the contexts of management, size and statuate of the company. The rational strategic management of the communication is clean with the subsidiary companies whereas intuitive management characterizes the companies of small size

Full textCompliance techniques which are freely consented, such as the foot-in-the-door, the two-feet-in-the-door and the “you are free to…” can lead a person to behave in a way that he would not have done spontaneously. The aim of this study is to test some of these commitment techniques in different organizational contexts while using different types of communication. The thesis focuses on free consenting submission techniques and analyses them with regard to other forms of influence. This analysis leads to the development of five experiments which were applied to the associative, commercial and managerial domains. We obtained three important results. First, we showed that the double foot-in-the-door can be efficient on internet. Second, we noticed that the “you are free to…” is a relevant method to use on the phone. Finally, we provided evidence of the effects of commitment training on employee involvement

Full textInscribed in Information and Communication Sciences and in particular in the field of the organizational communication, this research questions the practice of management at distance in contemporary organizations (franchise, subcontracting, joint-venture, etc.). From a field study realized in a Highway Gas Service’s station, it tries to answer three research questions: (1) To what extent can we say that the franchise is a form of management at distance and what are its characteristics? (2) What are the natures of the capacities of action – or textual agencies – that organize working routines in the studied gas station? (3) How do these capacities of action intervene during the conversational routines and what modes of organizational existence do they establish? This thesis sheds light on the strength of the action – or agency – at a distance exerted by management upon what say and do the members of an organization, through a conceptualization of distance and routines based on a the conversational and textual dynamic that organize those capacities of action. This thesis also renews our conception of the mode of existence of the firm and opens the debate on the forms of authority that contributes to widespread the franchise as a model of management at distance
Adetomokun, Idowu Jacob. "Exploring semiotic remediation in performances of stand-up comedians in post- apartheid South Africa and post-colonial Nigeria." University of the Western Cape, 2018. http://hdl.handle.net/11394/6684.
Full textThis research has been conducted by focusing on the trajectories of semiotic ensembles from various contexts that stand-up comedians exploited for aesthetic and communicative purposes. I apply the social semiotic theory of multimodality (Kress and van Leeuwen, 2001, 2006), and the notions of semiotic remediation (Bolter and Grusin, 1996, 2000) and resemiotization (Iedema, 2003) to selected audiovisual recordings performances of Trevor Noah and Loyiso Gola from South Africa; and Atunyota Akporobomeriere (Ali Baba) and Bright Okpocha (Basket Mouth) from Nigeria. I explore the trajectories of semiotic resources that the comedians used across modes, contexts and practices. I also trace the translation and interpretation of socio-cultural and political materials by South African and Nigerian stand-up comedians’ performances. The idea is also to examine the extent to which the socio-cultural and political contexts of both countries have differential effects on the choices in the semiotic resources used in the reconstruction of meanings, including cross socio-cultural taboos. The study reveals that combinations of various semiotic materials ranging from political, sociocultural, religious and personal lifestyles are remediated (repurposed) for comic and aesthetic effects. This involves translating and re-interpreting the semiotic resources across contexts and practices. In this regard, the study showed how the artists rework verbal language, images, socio-political discourses and other semiotic material for new meanings. It also reveals that although the choices of materials are similar, there is a tendency of localizing semiotic resources to particular localities and audiences, so that each artist’s performance comes out as unique to the person. The study concludes that language alone is not at the core of communication as other semiotic modes (in addition to languages) are integrated interweaving resources to make meaning. The direction of the modes or resources is multidimensional. All the spoken texts, all the non-linguistic modes: gestures, stance, movements, running on stage, postures, mimicking and others, perform vital roles to recontextualize meanings in stand-up comedy performance. Therefore, the study opens up new perspectives on social semiotic approaches to multimodality, as well as on language social semiotic and to theory and media studies. The contribution also answers the call to expand the understanding and research on the theory of ‘multimodality’ and the various concepts such as semiotic remediation and resemiotization associated with it.

Full textThe object of this study is to analyse how children between 4 and 6 reformulate and restitue narratives. We work in a dialogical and interactive perspective of language. The narratives restituted by the children are characterised by similarities and differences at the level of the structure of the narrative as well as the wording and the modes of reformulation used. In order to analyse the children's productions, we have varied the situation in which they were to restitute a narrative in two ways : the presence or the absence of the book during the restitution, the number of times the children had heard the story beforehand. When they narrate with the book the number of propositions used by the children increases, thanks to the presence of the illustrations in the book (the pictures support the wording of the propositions) and to the re-elaboration of the narrative (new propositions which are not supported by the pictures) even though this increase diminishes with age. The number of readings has favoured an increase of the propositions restituted by the children (in proportion to their age-group) and has influenced the general organization of the narrative and of its various elements. This work also deals with the various types of modification produced by the children : adding, mixing and moving propositions. Children also modify the constituents of the propositions and transform their illocutionary value, the lexicon and the syntax. The children's individual style is analysed as well. We view reformlation as a dominant mode of restitution and highlight the importance of dramatisation by showing that as of the age of four some children dramatise their restitution and manage it perfectly by themselves. Thus, producing a narrative is not necessarily using a mold but also showing one's subjectivity through the words of others, changing worlds, changing perspectives and taking pleasure in the act of narration

Full textFarmers are experiencing a situation of crisis characterized by the rupture of their previous models of thought and action. In this final stage of their integration into modernity, the loss of normative marks leads to a challenge of their modes of ordinary communication. Haberma's approach of the articulation between instrumental and communicational reason (in "the theory of communicative action", Boston, beacon, 1983, 2 vols. ) Allows to understand this challenge. Their mental universe has to integrate new forms of rationality stemming from science and technique. Market logic tends to supplant the search for social co-operation. This progressive rationalization of the modes of thinking generates a dissociation between social and professional realms, and a transformation of the practices of communication. Research has been carried out in the region of the Cotes-d’Armor (France). It analyses the consequences of the professionalisation of farming. It emphasizes the feeling of "self-dispossession" by the farmers

The central question here is to establish the economic consequences induced by distant work for the firm and the social impact on workers. We have established a typology of organisational structures to focus the type of firms integrated telework. The main problem is concerning social links between workers and firms, hardly sustainable

Full textBy this research, we try to analyse the contents, how to present them and how to communicate the televisual information through the three french public channels : tf1, a2 and fr3. While doing this work, we notice that the three televisual journals are nothing but an image, a profile of the channel through which they are diffused. To perform the televisual journal, many technical means are used in order to get the highest rate as far as audience is concerned. Hence the importance of the presentator's task. This presentator's success depends on the type of communication he established with his televiews :"the eyes in the eyes". Thanks to its "generique", titles, presentators and reporters, the content and the various techniques used, the televisual journal remains an intricate universe far from being classified with other visual programs. Eventually, we can say that the televisual journal reflects life except that life is so long and so eventful to be deeply dealt with by a televisual journal communicated in a limited period of time

Full textThe brazilian group globo consists of a nebulae of organizations gravitating around tv globo? the main component of the group. Tv globo started its activities in 1965, just one year after the military putsch and 40 years after the foundation of the newspaper 0 globo and became, less than 20 years later, the 4th television network of the world. Tv globo produces around 1. 500 hours of original fiction a year and exports programs in almost a hundred countries. These countries include most of the latin american one and portugal. Which political, economical and cultural reasons have determined such a development ? which are the objective relations of the globo network with the so called national culture ? trying to give precise answers to such questions, the research spreads in the inner functionning of the globo network. Starting with the analysis of the group and its branche, as well of the historical evolution of the tv globo network, the research displays the mechanism and organization of production, analyses, in detail, the technical and commercial capabilities of the network, ending with a study of the inner and external communication peculiarities of globo network

Full textThe study about the communication of the families with an autistic child must intersect the knowledge emerged from the developmental and systemic perspectives. This may bring diversification of leads to work with the families. The child's functional and developmental dysregulation model brings forward the consequent difficulties of the regulation troubles in the autistic children. The behavioral pattern of nine families with hospitalized children in the Centre Hospitalier de Sainte Anne has been analyzed as well as the cohesion and adaptability of each family. The consequent difficulties of the regulation troubles have been studied and taken into account in the communicational pattern evaluation of six families with autistic children. The results have shown the positive influence of certain family system's behaviors upon the autistic children difficulties and brought forward several clues allowing the elaboration of therapeutical applications specific to each family. The research broadening to all family members and follow-up in a family support time span may contribute to a better understanding of the communicational pattern and each member influences upon the system

Full textThis research concerns the conflicts between people in their workplace. We focused on situations where individuals acting for themselves, whether at same or different levels. Managers spend much of their time managing this kind of situation, however, these conflicts are rarely apprehended as the books suggest. This could be linked to the fact that theoretical works provide a few “tactics” applicable and that the manuals are suggested only for specific contexts. This doctoral research develops a matrix decoding conflict situations to enable the practitioner to simplify conflict situation interpretations between people. The goal is to maximize the efficiency of managing relationships designated as conflictual. We have based ourselves on the works of Bateson, Jackson and Watzlawick regarding family therapy. Through the method of cases, we propose ten conflict situations that allow us to illustrate and support an interpretation grid of interactional conflict dynamics. This research provides multiple inputs. A definition of the non-standard and pragmatic conflict is proposed. A systemic conception of the relationships may surpass the scapegoat nomination in the conflict to reflect the need for a broader delineation of the actors involved in this type of phenomenon. Implications related to the team management are released. Finally, we question the positionning of the speaker’s subjectivity (or investigator) to enlighten the performance of organizational actors relations system

Full textThis thesis is part of the field of the characterization of wireless communication systems using antennas diversity. Indeed, such systems allow fighting against the signals fading, when the terminal is inside a strong multipath environment. The issue of such research is: to study the association of multiple antennas at transmitting and/or receiving sides to improve the link budget, and the capacity of wireless systems, (decrease of BER (Bit Error Rate), increase of throughput …). This thesis takes an interest to the electromagnetic aspect, and signal processing. In order to understand the involved phenomena, and to characterize the terminal performance, it should be placed in a controlled multipath propagation environment in time, and in space. This brings us to find measurement methodologies able to reproduce models of realistic propagation channels. As part of this thesis the method used is the reverberation chamber. In this thesis we are interested in the time aspect. Reverberation chamber (RC) is considered as a useful tool to emulate rich multipath environments. In this contribution, this device is employed to emulate multi clusters channel models (cluster is defined as a group of multipath), and evaluate performance of wireless communication systems. This evaluation is performed with real time and not-real time measurements. It remains to note that among the objectives set out in this PhD thesis is to obtain electromagnetic simulation model of the reverberation chamber based on circuit approach, in order to determine the channel transfer function versus losses quantities

Full textWith the help of eighty different interviews, this is an in-depth study of the different life-styles of people having taken early retirement and the one of students all living independently, and with different social habits the aim being to understand their different domestic telephone habits. The telephone is now looked utensil as an ordinary object used in all kinds of social fields. It is by analysing the process of appropriateness of a new innovating device used by two different generations : one having lived through the technical and social installing of the telephone and the other having born with it, though different social-historical contexts. That one can see the research dynamics within intergenerational perspectives and in a multigenerational society. Phoning habits cannot be understood independently and must be set alongside on one hand with other relational modes -ways of behaving when face to face and different epistolary exchanges- and on another hand with the interactive networks of getting acquainted with people and the social activities of the individual. The reconstruction of life styles and social links and the quest of status of these different people can help to understand the way in which they adapt when faced with social changes

Full textIn view of the increasing use of Information and Communication Technol-ogies in power systems, it is essential to study the interdependencies between these coupled heterogeneous systems. This thesis focuses on the modeling of multi- infrastructure systems. This includes interdependencies and the three major failures families: common mode, escalat-ing and cascading. It is indeed necessary to identify the weaknesses that can trigger one or multiple failure(s) and cascade through these interdependent infrastructures, causing unex-pected and increasingly more serious failures to other infrastructures. In this context, different approaches, based on the theory of Complex Networks, are developed to identify the most critical components in the coupled heterogeneous system. One of the major scientific barriers addressed in this thesis is the development of a unified mathematical model to represent the behavior

Full textInformation and communication technologies on the Internet induced a new relationship between power and society in China. They imposed the Party-State to evolve in order to prevent the network to become a real tool, able to federate the opposition. This challenge urges the Chinese Communist Party to change this technological threat into a crucial asset, to keep the country in its power. By proposing a new governance, where citizens are invited to participate in political life online, the Party got through to seduce a great number of social groups existing on the web. This 2. 0 propaganda falls within the scope of the ideotainment described by Lagerkvist, where narration control evolves on more ludic and informative modes. In the same way, state domination is continuously reinforced by colossal means of technical and human control, intended to delete any trace of contestation from digital agora and its collective memory. The second point of this study analyses internet users' reactions in the cyber public space, where appropriation modes and rhetoric are instrumented as stakes in Power towards the leaders. The political regime characterized by its online communication is based on Claude Lefort's theory, concerning adhesion politic with the Party-One against the Other. This post-totalitarian sloughing, made through a pragmatically and hegemonic communication policy according to Gramsci's definition, lets the Party's elite stay in power and have succeeded to, as Lampedusa says, make everything change to make nothing change. Annexes supply numerous practical and illustrated informations on the history and the functioning of the Internet in China

Full textPost-apartheid South Africa is deeply ambivalent, combining, on the one hand, strong dynamics of domination, control and reproduction of power relations and structures and, on the other hand, movements that contest these dynamics and foster social change or social dis-order in favor of the dominated population. This articulation of control and contest is more and more using information and communication technologies (ICTs). Based on a sociological, economic and political analysis, covering the last semi-century, the main conclusion of the dissertation is as follows : in the way ICTs are promoted, used and developed through the policies and modes of appropriation deployed by South Africans and though the potential of ICTs is equal for control and for contest, these technologies are supporting the former rather than the latter, until now, given the diffusion of ICTs within the South African society

Full textAxicons are optical elements that produce Bessel beams,i.e., long and narrow focal lines along the optical axis. Thenarrow focus makes them useful ine.g. alignment, harmonicgeneration, and atom trapping, and they are also used toincrease the longitudinal range of applications such astriangulation, light sectioning, and optical coherencetomography. In this thesis, axicons are designed andcharacterized for different kinds of illumination, using thestationary-phase and the communication-modes methods.
The inverse problem of axicon design for partially coherentlight is addressed. A design relation, applicable toSchell-model sources, is derived from the Fresnel diffractionintegral, simplified by the method of stationary phase. Thisapproach both clarifies the old design method for coherentlight, which was derived using energy conservation in raybundles, and extends it to the domain of partial coherence. Thedesign rule applies to light from such multimode emitters aslight-emitting diodes, excimer lasers and some laser diodes, which can be represented as Gaussian Schell-model sources.
Characterization of axicons in coherent, obliqueillumination is performed using the method of stationary phase. It is shown that in inclined illumination the focal shapechanges from the narrow Bessel distribution to a broadasteroid-shaped focus. It is proven that an axicon ofelliptical shape will compensate for this deformation. Theseresults, which are all confirmed both numerically andexperimentally, open possibilities for using axicons inscanning optical systems to increase resolution and depthrange.
Axicons are normally manufactured as refractive cones or ascircular diffractive gratings. They can also be constructedfrom ordinary spherical surfaces, using the sphericalaberration to create the long focal line. In this dissertation,a simple lens axicon consisting of a cemented doublet isdesigned, manufactured, and tested. The advantage of the lensaxicon is that it is easily manufactured.
The longitudinal resolution of the axicon varies. The methodof communication modes, earlier used for analysis ofinformation content for e.g. line or square apertures, isapplied to the axicon geometry and yields an expression for thelongitudinal resolution. The method, which is based on abi-orthogonal expansion of the Green function in the Fresneldiffraction integral, also gives the number of degrees offreedom, or the number of information channels available, forthe axicon geometry.

Full textRecent years have witnessed a massive evolution of mobile communications. When no agreement between the network providers exists, changing the attached network still means breaking the session and relying on the application to recover the lost data. In parallel, it is hardly possible for a mobile user to control the connectivity of his terminal. The objective of this thesis is to present the concept of an innovative technological framework for the autonomous control of multimode terminals in heterogeneous and non-federated wireless environments. The aim is to enable a self-configuring terminal to connect and roam seamlessly across independent networks, while respecting its user’s choices and preferences. The target scheme involves abstraction and cross-layer mechanisms. It takes into account constraints based on heterogeneous wireless systems, autonomous architectures and enables generic services such as smart access network selection, connectivity and session management. This scheme applies to the mobile terminal, with mechanisms independent of the network infrastructure. The thesis analyses how existing technologies are enhanced and combined with new features to achieve this objective and gives a description of the overall concept and of its implementation. A simulated model is used to assess the validity of the proposed framework. Diverse applications to real systems that implemented the components of this framework are presented, highlighting the generality and key benefits of the concept
