Abstract:
the article is devoted to understanding and classification the phenomenon of divination in modern Russia. On the basis of a comparative analysis of the ancient (Cicero “On Divination”) and modern texts, two models are distinguished, whose origin, according to the author’s hypothesis, dates back to the period of the formation of divination practices in the prehistoric era. These models are most vividly manifested themselves in the positioning of predictors in the mass media space, including the Internet: recognizable elements are combined to create an attractive image in the eyes of potential consumers of mantic services.

Abstract:
The ability to build solid and coherent software from spontaneous, sudden and evanescent involvement is viewed as an enigma by sociologists and economists. The internal heterogeneity of project contributors questions the functioning of collective action: how can commitments that are so dissimilar be put together? Our objective is to consider FLOSS communities as going concerns which necessitate a minimum of order and common, shared, social rules to function. Through an in-depth and diachronic analysis of the Spip project, we present two classical modes of social regulation: a control regulation centred on the product and an autonomous regulation reflecting the differentiated commitments. Our data shows that the meaning, value and legitimacy of contributors’ involvements are defined and rated more collectively, through exchanges, judgments, and evaluations. A third regulation mode, called distributed community regulation and aimed at creating and transforming shared rules that produces recognition and stratification, is then presented.

Abstract:
The article discusses the problem of increasing the effi ciency of the linear section of the main gas pipeline system by developing eff ective control algorithms for the operating modes of the gas cooling unit. To develop control algorithms for a gas cooling unit, adapted mathematical models of thermal processes in air-cooled gas devices and in a gas pipeline are used. It is shown that when considering the dynamic modes, the gas pipeline system can be represented as consisting of two dynamic links. The link “gas cooling unit”, which includes up to 24 electric drives with heat exchangers, is characterized by relatively short time constants. In the main gas pipeline, heat exchange processes proceed much more slowly. This circumstance allows the main att ention to be focused on the development of an eff ective control system for the cooling plant. The control is carried out by discrete or continuous change in the fl ow rate of the cooling air through the heat exchanger by adjusting the number of switched on air coolers and changing the fan speed. The search for control algorithms for air coolers is carried out by formulating and solving the problem of minimizing the root-mean-square deviation of the gas temperature at the outlet from the heat exchanger from the required value. To implement the obtained control algorithms, a functional diagram of the automatic control system for the operating modes of the gas cooling unit has been developed.

Abstract:
Abstract. The effect of community structure on the functioning of the ecosystem is an important issue in ecology due to continuing global species loss. The influence of infaunal community structure on the functioning of marine systems is proposed here to act primarily through bioturbation of the sediment. Nutrient concentration in the water column, generated by release from the sediment, was used as a measure of ecosystem functioning. In situ and laboratory experiments showed a significant difference in nutrient concentrations with different species treatments. Bioturbation profiles showing the incorporation of tracer particles also differed between communities with different dominant species. The behavioural differences between infaunal species, generating different modes and rates of bioturbation, are therefore proposed to influence nutrient release. The presence and quantity of bioturbating infauna also influenced the amount of sediment suspended in the water column. The increase in surface area available for microbial activity may generate an increase in nutrient cycling. Abiotic influences on sediment structure, such as flow, may have a similar effect on nutrient concentration. Annular flumes used in both laboratory and in situ experiments to generate flow conditions produced a significant increase in ammonia (NH4-N) production in macrofaunal treatments. Flow may influence the behaviour of macrofaunal species, causing changes in NH4-N production through modifying bioturbation of the sediment. Abstract:
The solution of the problem of reliable functioning of an electric power system (EPS) in steady-state and transient regimes, prevention of EPS transition into asynchronous regime, maintenance and restoration of stability of post-emergency processes is based on formation and realization of mathematical models of an EPS processes. During the functioning of electric power system in asynchronous regime, besides the main frequencies, the currents and voltages include harmonic components, the frequencies of which are multiple of the difference of main frequencies. At the two-frequency asynchronous regime the electric power system is being made equivalent in a form of a two-machine system, functioning for a generalized load. In the article mathematical models of transient process of a two-machine system in natural form and in d–q coordinate system are presented. The mathematical model of two-machine system is considered in case of two windings of excitement at the rotors. Also, in the article varieties of mathematical models of EPS transient regimes (trivial, simple, complete) are presented. Transient process of a synchronous two-machine system is described by the complete model. The quality of transient processes of a synchronous machine depends on the number of rotor excitation windings. When there are two excitation windings on the rotor (dual system of excitation), the mathematical model of electromagnetic transient processes of a synchronous machine is represented in a complex form, i.e. in coordinate system d, q, the current of rotor being represented by a generalized vector. In asynchronous operation of a synchronous two-machine system with two excitation windings on the rotor the current and voltage systems include only harmonics of two frequencies. The mathematical model of synchronous steady-state process of a two-machine system is also provided, and the steady-state regimes with different structures of initial information are considered.

Abstract:
Expressive Therapies Continuum (ETC), a model posed by Lusebrink and widely used in arts therapies, stipulates that human being is perceiving the world and processing the information in three modes – motion (kinesthetic-sensory perception), emotion (perceptual-emotional perception) and thought (cognitive-symbolic perception), and that optimally functioning person can freely function in all the modes, can slide between the poles of each of the mode and can integrate the elements from various modes and poles. And vice versa - difficulty or inability to function or being stuck in certain modes, can indicate to malfunction and even psychopathology. If that is the case - purposeful integration of various functions by offering expressive activity promoting utilisation of various functions of the ETC, can promote the optimal functioning. In order to find out the capacity of the three resource-based music therapy activities – 1) receptive music therapy activity, 2) semi-structured musical improvisation, 3) song-writing activity - to stimulate the utilisation of specific levels and polarities of the ETC, participants (n=24 cancer patients participating in the psychosocial rehabilitation programme) were asked to assess the elements of the ETC they applied while executing each of the activities. Results of the study show that during the receptive music therapy activity participants mostly used the affective, symbolic and sensory function, during the song-writing activity the mostly used all ETC functions except for sensory, but musical improvisation provoked application of all the ETC functions, and therefore turned out as ultimate activity, capable of integrating all the modes of perception and information processing.

The article is devoted to the administrative and legal regimes in the penal system. The authors point to the complex nature of the administrative and legal regimes that ensure the normal functioning of institutions and bodies of the penal system. The introduction of special administrative and legal regimes is justified by the occurrence of situations that violate the activities of the penal system. Attention is drawn to the fact that not all special regimes in the penal system have legislative or departmental regulation, hence the difficulties in their application. The solution to the problem is seen in the theoretical substantiation of the content of this institution, the systematization of the organizational forms of its provision, the reflection of its characteristics in the legislation.

Abstract:
The sustainable development of the transport logistics system (TLS) of passenger transportation in Russia is of great social importance for the mobility of the population. The purpose of the study is to check whether the course of the company JSC “FPC” for sustainable development, formulated in the strategy until 2030, is being implemented. The company has created a corporate quality system to improve the quality of services, ensure customer-oriented processes, and improve traffic safety. However, statistics show that the company’s development is unstable, as the share of passenger traffic is small – 6,6% in 2012 and 5,5 % in 2019, and the volume decreased from 1421 to 1201 million people during this period. The majority of the population of the country chooses other modes of transport, because their need for mobility is not provided: the prices of railway tickets are high; also the travel time is significant, due to the low speeds of passenger trains. And the quality of the infrastructure (the state of the railway track and tracks) currently does not allow organizing high-speed movement of modern transport on the territory of the country; serious investments are needed to solve this problem.

Abstract:
The review deals with modern ideas of neuroimmunoendocrine regulation of physiological and pathophysiological processes in skin. The present data are provided which indicate to composite mechanisms of intercellular interactions in complex regulating systems (nervous, immune, endocrine) acting at the level of skin in normal conditions, as well during the posttraumatic period. We describe different modes for participation of endocrine and nervous systems in immunologically induced skin inflammation. The data are provided confirming localization of adrenergic receptors on membranes of immunocompetent cells and leukocytes, on regulatory effects of hypothalamus upon immune functions, about multidirectional actions upon inflammation of sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous system etc. There are sufficient data on promotion of pathophysiological changes and reconstitution processes in the skin due to effects of local immune cells and bioactive substances expressed by them. The course of skin wound regeneration depend on the type of damage, degree and a phase of healing process. Posttraumatic reparative potential of skin is often limited by the infectious processes initiated by local microflora, products of cell disintegration and necrotic tissues. The cause-effect relationship is proven by arising inflammation which is implemented by inclusion of immune protection responses. The increased necrotic area and suppuration of the wound occurs die to inhibition of system of the phagocytizing macrophages. However, activation of this system brings about formation of the connective tissue capsule around the inflammation focus within early terms. We also discuss the issues of reparative skin regeneration which of great medico-social value, in connection with considerable prevalence of traumatic events and their social consequences, followed by expressed cosmetic defects. Evolving neurocognitive problems lead to decreased quality of the patient’s life, development of social disadaptation and further deprivation. The role of nervous system and psychological frustration in genesis of skin manifestations requires future development of the modern scientific direction, i.e., psychodermatology.Understanding of molecular mechanisms regulating the neuroimmunocutaneous interactions offers new prospectives in treatment of some skin diseases, as well as activation of the damaged skin recovery. According to the data presented in the review article, one may conclude on relevance of further studies on reparative potential of skin under interactions of homeostatic regulatory systems.

Abstract:
The European economy is dependent on transport. Electronics, fertilizer, medical items, metal paint, plastic, rubber and different modes of machinery are classified as dangerous goods when transported, as are pesticides and different products for agriculture and cosmetics. Within the transport context, dangerous goods are considered to be those goods which may cause harm to people, the environment or property. They are transported mainly by specialized companies, using special equipment. It is vitally important for the economy that dangerous goods are transported in a well-synchronized logistic chain that is both functioning and efficient. The transport often requires the use of different transport modes, intermediate storing or crossing of national borders. In order to ensure that the complex chain is efficiently functioning, the following article aims to summarize the harmonization and bridge the differences between the nation's legislations and those governing the various modes of transport. Innovative technical tools, methods, and systems are analyzed in cooperation with operators and infrastructure managers. Abstract:
At present, the most effective method for studying internal combustion engines (ICE) is mathe-matical modeling and computational experiment. The use of a computational experiment can signif-icantly reduce material and time costs in the research, design and refinement of the internal combus-tion engine. At the same time, despite the high level of the applied mathematical models, there are practically no studies aimed at establishing the regularities of the influence of the state of the cylin-der-piston group (CPG) on the crankcase gas consumption and other indicators of engine operation at steady-state and transient modes. This article is devoted to solving an urgent problem associated with the development of a theoretical base that provides a comprehensive simulation of steady-state and transient modes of diesel engine operation, taking into account the consumption of crankcase gases. The article presents a mathematical model of a diesel engine based on thermal mechanics, which reflects the main features of the engine as a system that converts energy in time. The system of equations of the mathematical model is based on the laws of conservation of energy, mass, equa-tions of motion of solid links and includes differential equations for the rates of change in the tem-perature and density of the working fluid in the cylinder and in the crankcase of the internal com-bustion engine, the ideal gas equation of state, as well as differential equations for the change in the angular speed and angle of motor shaft rotation. The mathematical model is tested on the example of a small-sized single-cylinder diesel engine 1Ch9.5 / 8.0 with air cooling. This type of engine is widely used for small-scale mechanization in agriculture, generator sets, etc. The article presents the results of calculations of a number of engine operating modes in comparison with the results of field tests carried out at the test bench.

Abstract:
The article is devoted to the issue of creating a mathematical model of the problem of making management decisions in electric power facilities based on modern intelligent technologies, which makes it possible to take into account the influence of various factors on the operating modes of the power system. A systematic approach to describing processes in the mathematical language of the theory of fuzzy sets is proposed. To solve the problem of controlling the operating modes of the power system, a neurofuzzy network has been developed that combines the algorithms of Takagi-Sugeno fuzzy inference, as well as a recurrent neural network. An adaptive learning algorithm based on the Frechet method is proposed for training a neural network. The analysis of the efficiency of the fuzzy control model under the conditions of various modes of functioning of the local power system is carried out.

The paper aims to assess and improve the performances of a multilayer piezoelectric MEMS device for vibrations harnessing. Two operating modes are possible: at resonance and outside resonance. In some applications it is not possible to operate at resonance, functioning being mostly at low frequencies in a quasi-static regime. An Euler-Bernoulli classic beam theory mathematical model was studied for estimating the behaviour of multilayer piezoelectric generators, in terms of deflection and voltage, at functioning under resonance frequency. The analytical results were compared with the finite element method simulation in COMSOL Multiphysics. The main goal of this study is to obtain an accurate model for engineering design purposes, with simple analytical equations and ease of use, but with predictable errors. The study proved the usefulness of the derived model but also its limitations. It also proves the need to improve the model using plate theory, for sensors with high width/height ratio.

One of the main methods to evaluate, to investigate and to integrate the behavior of security systems within the automotive design is by using modeling and simulation. Due to the fact that the ECUs represent more than 57% from vehicle architecture and they are using protocols to communicate through the CAN networks many possibilities for breaking security of the vehicles successfully may appear. In order to understand all of these aspects and to be able to create a simulation model for immobilizer systems, it is mandatory to represent the features and functions of all components of this kind of systems. Developing a immobilizer model include the possibility of testing virtual models in different conditions and for different functioning modes.

Abstract:
AbstractFirstly, this paper aims to analyze how verbal and visual modes contribute to build two basic components of cartoons: the referenced situation and the fictional situation. Secondly, it aims to unravel the semiotics of this discursive genre by offering a fine-grained picture of modal variations and continuities of the rhetorical resources deployed, by means of which the fictional situation is displayed. The corpus is composed of 50 multimodal cartoons chosen by cartoonists of 22 nationalities as the most representative of their work in the frame of a wide questionnaire. Category analysis and non-parametric statistics were applied. We identified and fleshed out four different types of modal functioning of resources: visual preference, verbal preference, modal flexibility, and genuine multimodal functioning. Even if visual and multimodal metaphor were often in charge of transferring meaning from fiction to the referenced situation, results show that other resources such as antithesis, irony, and syllepsis can become the key resources of cartoons. Findings highlight the multilayered functioning of cartoons, among which plastic features can play a significant role, and provide further evidence in favor of the hyperdetermination of humor hypothesis proposed by Attardo.

Abstract:
The article aims to identify patterns in the distribution of heating energy to consumers with a varying availability of regulation equipment under real conditions of a central heating network, as well as to compare the results of computer simulation with full-scale measurements. For computer simulation, well-known mathematical methods for calculating the load flow in hydraulic circuits were used. Experimental studies of the operation modes of heat supply systems were carried out using the data of the control and monitoring systems of thermal power plants using the Siemens Simatic PCS7 software, a Portaflow 300 ultrasonic flow meter, stationary electromagnetic flow transducers, verified and certified manometers and thermometers. The graphs of the actual hydrodynamic modes of the heating network under study were obtained at outdoor air temperatures from +8 to -37°C, as well as under abnormal conditions (temperature drop in the supply pipeline and pressure drop at the heating network input). It was proposed to use jointly the simulation by means of the JA_Net software and full-scale measurements of the thermohydraulic operating modes of a centralised heat supply system, whose consumers have a various degree of regulation equipment. It was shown that the proposed complex method of qualitative and quantitative assessment of the efficiency of district heating networks makes it possible to identify the features of control of their hydraulic modes when connecting new consumers with a varying degree of automation. According to the obtained characteristics of changes in the flow rate of the coolant in the consumers’ internal systems depending on the pressure drop at the tie-in point, the lack of response to emergency situations on part of the consumers whose heat supply systems are equipped with the means of qualitative and quantitative regulation of the heat load, is associated with the process of automatic adjustment of the degree of opening of flow controllers and control valves at individual points. In future work, we will develop guidelines for levelling the imbalance of the heating network under the conditions of uneven provision of facilities with automation equipment when implementing projects for the complex modernisation of heat consumers or connecting new facilities to existing heat supply networks.

Abstract:
Psychophysiology has contributed much to the development and understanding of the mental workload concept. Recent advances in theoretical models of autonomic nervous system functioning have the potential to increase the practical utility of psychophysiological measures in workload assessment. For example, “modes of autonomic control” can explain why psychophysiological measures sometimes dissociate from performance and subjective workload measures, and from each other when multiple measures are examined simultaneously. Further, these models may provide the neurophysiological structure to strengthen inferences about the relation between the psychophysiological measures and the underlying psychological processing of task demand manipulations.

Abstract:
Context: Quality of life is a broad multidimensional and dynamic concept. It influences the performance of the individual in physical, social, and spiritual aspects of life. Despite the postpartum period is accompanied by many physical, emotional, and social changes in women's health, it is often a neglected aspect of women's health care. Aim: This study aimed to assess the postpartum quality of life among mothers regardless of their delivery mode and to assess the difference in the quality of life at the various mode of delivery. Methods: A descriptive exploratory cross-sectional study employed to achieve the aim of this study. A structured interview questionnaire and postpartum quality of life scale that include assessment of four health-related domains that were child care, physical, psychological, and social functioning were used to achieve the aims of this study. Results: The study revealed a fair and a good level of quality of life among most of the studied women regardless of their mode of delivery. The quality of life subscales' assessment revealed a non-statistically significant difference between women in various delivery modes in the domains of child care and physical functioning. While statistically significant differences revealed between all groups regarding their physical and social functioning. Conclusion: The study did not show a clear-cut benefit in favor of any modes of delivery in respect of postpartum life quality, and the research hypothesis is not fully supported. The study recommended further a longitudinal study to understand the magnitude, trajectory and underpinning mechanisms of health-related quality of life outcomes following different modes of delivery.

Abstract:
According to the research results, the target functions of the task of optimizing the functioning of the units according to the criteria of the regime reliability, depending on the flow of the working fluid were synthesized, which made it possible to research the influence of the regime on the reliability of operation of electric and hydraulic subsystems of the pump unit. The extreme weight of local target functions of regime reliability of electric motor and the centrifugal pump in various (especially low-flow rate) operating modes are determined. It is proposed to optimize the operating modes of pumping units of oil pumping station with the simultaneous use of the reliability criteria of electric drive and centrifugal pump. . It was established that the maximum values of reliability of electric drive and centrifugal pump are achieved at different values of the load, which requires the involvement of multi-criteria optimization methods. The problem of optimization of the established modes of the pump unit in the multicriteria setting, taking into account the technological limitations of its subsystems was formalized. The analysis of modern methods of solving the problem of multicriteria optimization of the steady modes of operation of pump units is carried out. The method of solving the multicriterion optimization problem is substantiated, which fully takes into account the influence of operation mode on the reliability of electric and hydraulic subsystems of pumping unit. It is revealed that the most appropriate method for solving this problem is the method of approaching an ideal (utopian) point in the criteria space. With this method, the desired ratio of criteria at the optimum point is the best. The value of the "agreed optimum" of liquid flow has been determined in order to choose the optimum for the reliability of operation mode of the pumping unit of oil pumping station.

Abstract:
In the work, a methodological approach to obtaining mathematical models was further developed, which describe the functioning of tribosystems in stationary and transient modes under boundary lubrication conditions. The structural identification of the tribosystem as an object of modeling the functioning of tribosystems in the conditions of boundary lubrication is performed. It is established that the operation of tribosystems is described by a third-order differential equation and, in contrast to the known ones, takes into account the function of changing the quality factor of the tribosystem during running-in. It is shown that the nature of the functioning of tribosystems under conditions of ultimate lubrication depends on the gain and time constants included in the differential equation. It is shown that the coefficient К1 takes into account the degree of influence of the input signal (load, sliding speed, tribological characteristics of the lubricating medium), on the value of the output signal (quality factor of the tribosystem). Coefficient К2 takes into account the magnitude of the change of the output parameters (volumetric wear rate and friction coefficient) when changing the values of the input parameters (load, sliding speed, quality factor of the tribosystem. Coefficient К3 takes into account the degree of influence of the input signal on the restructuring of the material structure in the surface layers of the triboelements. The time constants of the tribosystem characterize the inertia of the processes occurring in the tribosystem, during running-in, or during changes in operating modes. Increasing the time constants makes the process less susceptible to changes in the input signal, the running-in process increases over time, and the tribosystem becomes insensitive to small changes in load and slip speed. Conversely, the reduction of time constants makes the tribosystem sensitive to any external changes.

Passy, Sophia I. "Framework for community functioning: synthesis of stress gradient and resource partitioning concepts." PeerJ 5 (October 2, 2017): e3885. http://dx.doi.org/10.7717/peerj.3885.

Full text
Abstract:
To understand how communities function and generate abundance, I develop a framework integrating elements from the stress gradient and resource partitioning concepts. The framework suggests that guild abundance depends on environmental and spatial factors but also on inter-guild interactions (competitor or facilitator richness), which can alter the fundamental niche of constituent species in negative (competition) or positive direction (facilitation). Consequently, the environmental and spatial mechanisms driving guild abundance would differ across guilds and interaction modes. Using continental data on stream diatoms and physico-chemistry, the roles of these mechanisms were tested under three interaction modes—shared preference, distinct preference, and facilitative, whereby pairs of guilds exhibited, respectively, a dominance-tolerance tradeoff along a eutrophication gradient, specialization along a pH gradient, or a donor-recipient relationship along a nitrogen gradient. Representative of the shared preference mode were the motile (dominant) and low profile (tolerant) guilds, of the distinct preference mode—the acidophilous and alkaliphilous (low profile) guilds, and of the facilitative mode—nitrogen fixers (donors) and motile species (recipients). In each mode, the influences of environment, space (latitude and longitude), and competitor or facilitator richness on guild density were assessed by variance partitioning. Pure environment constrained most strongly the density of the dominant, the acidophilous, and the recipient guild in the shared preference, distinct preference, and facilitative mode, respectively, while spatial effects were important only for the low profile guild. Higher competitor richness was associated with lower density of the tolerant guild in the shared preference mode, both guilds in the distinct preference mode, and the donor guild in the facilitative mode. Conversely, recipient density in the facilitative mode increased with donor richness in stressful nitrogen-poor environments. Thus, diatom guild abundance patterns were determined primarily by biotic and/or environmental impacts and, with the exception of the low profile guild, were insensitive to spatial effects. This framework identifies major sources of variability in diatom guild abundance with implications for the understanding of biodiversity-ecosystem functioning.
