Abstract:

Reading Mohamed´s novels Kiu (`Thirst´; 1972) and Nyota ya Rehema (`The Star ofRehema´or `The Destiny of Rehema´; 1976), one is struck by abundant use of `implication´ technique. Implication is regarded as a feature that is statistically more frequent in poetry than in prose, hence the presence of this technique in abundance in Mohamed´s idiom, renders it a quality of poetic prose. The purpose of this paper is therefore to show how various linguistic features are used as vehicle for the realisation of the implication technique used to create exponents for the semantic structure in his novels. Exponents as literary devices need not be implicit as in Mohamed`s idiom, however if used implicitly, they form an artistically engineered correlation with literary substance of the novel and gives it a certain quality that affects our `attitude´ and `judgement` towards it. Hence in this paper we hold it that the reader`s involvement in the interpretation of the novel eventually entails the decoding of the corpus for the externalisation of the literary substance. A reader who is fully involved in the interpretation and processing of implied meaning(s) in the novel, digs into its semantic structure by condation and deduction and comes out with more lasting impressions than he would if he were to deal with a less subtle or totally explicit idiom that may be regarded as plain and spoon-feeding.

Abstract:

Notre recherche expose le cas de mohamed al mokhtar soussi savant musulman traditionnel, soufi et faqih, mais ouvert a la culture moderne. Natif du souss, il vecut pendant la premiere moitie du vingtieme siecle, periode de la colonisation durant laquelle de graves evenements mettant en question l'identite historique du maroc eurent lieu. Ce tournant de l'histoire lui fit traverser une periode de desarroi et le motiva pour lui trouver un remede en ayant recours au patrimoine et a l'ecriture de l'histoire. Ainsi se mua-t-il de faqih en historien refusant la soumission et la mort, et luttant contre la fuite du temps. Il laissa une oeuvre historique gigantesque en guise de preuve de la gloire passee et de la civilisation de sa region natale et de son pays en general. Cette oeuvre est en gros traditionnelle avec, neanmoins, certains aspects modernes. Pour ce qui est du genre historique, il resta fidele au courant traditionnel musulman, mais au niveau de la matiere et des objectifs vises, il innova grace a son ouverture sur son epoque. Ce qui en fit un pionnier a mi-chemin entre les deux ecoles, la traditionnelle et la moderne. Enfin, il est a signaler que son oeuvre constitue aujourd'hui une bibliotheque precieuse et une source de reference pour l'historiographie marocaine actuelle et pour tout chercheur s'interessant a la region du souss
This research deals with the case of mohamed al mokhtar soussi, traditional muslim scholar sufi, and thedogian, who was open to modern culture. Native of the souss region, he lived in the first half of the twentieth century et atime when colonization was the source of grave avants that threntened morocco's historical identity. This period of hystory left him with acrisis and motivated him to find a solution through the cultural heritage and by writing down history. The thuys leaver his role as theologian to become a historian fighting resignation and mutability. He left behind him on enormous body of historical writings that foreground the bright past of his homeland and country alike. His work is characteristically traditional with modernit traits. He remains faithful te the muslim tradition in recording history. As far as method and objectives are concerned, he has fresh insights awing to his open attitude towards the positive achievements of his ago. He is still a pioneera relying on both traditional and modern elements. In the end, it should be borne in mind that his works constitue a valuable reference for contemporary moroccan historiography and for any researcher interested in the souss area

Abstract:

La notion de l'approximation rationnelle est normalement conçue pour la discrétisation en temps. Dans cette thèse nous mélangeons cette notion avec la notion de la convergence au sens de Kato qui découle d'une discrétisation en espace pour l'équation de transport neutronique. Nous appliquons cette procedure aux schémas d'Euler explicite et implicite, Crank-Nicolson et Prédicateur-Correcteur qui ont le degré de convergence 1,2 et 3 au sens de l'approximation rationnelle. Pour démontrer la convergence nous utiliserons le théorème de Cherno et nous donnons aussi des illustrations numérique pour justifier ces degrés de convergence. Dans le dernier chapitre nous donnons quelques nouvelles généralisations des théorèmes de point fixe de type Schauder et de type Krasnoselskii qui se basent sur la notion de la compacité faible sur des espaces Fréchet ayant la propriété de Dunford- Pettis et sur la notion de la U-équicontraction
In this thesis we mix the rational approximation procedure, which is a time approximation with approximation in the sense of Kato, which is a space approximation for neutron transport equation. We apply this procedure for explicit and implicit Euler, Crank-Nicolson and Predictor-Corrector schemes which have the rate 1,2 and 3 in the sense of rational approximation. By using Cherno's Theorem, we prove the convergence and we construct also the numerical illustration for justifying the above rate of convergence. In the last chapter, we give some generalization of Schauder and Krasnoselskii fixed point theorems in Dunford-Pettis Frechet spaces and which based on the notion of weakly compactness and U-equicontraction

Sammanfattning Efter att ha skrivit biografin om Mohamad Abdelkarim och analyserat hans olika stilar genom att skriva noter till melodierna så har jag förstått ännu mer varför Mohamad anses vara en av dem som genom historien haft bäst teknik och känsla för sitt instrument, Bizq. Han behärskade instrumentet och var väldigt självsäker i sin musik. Han hade rest runt, bekantat sig med många olika kulturer och tagit influsenser av respektive kultur, vilket gör honom till en unikt mångsidig instrumentalist och komponist. Jag har lärt mig mycket teknik om instrumentet genom att försöka spela låtarna som Mohamad gjorde.
Biografi Ali shaker Ali Ali känd som Ali Shaker, föddes år 1985 i staden Hassake i den syriska delen av Kurdistan. Ali växte upp i en musikalisk familj- hans pappa sjöng kurdisk folkmusik på fritiden och hans storebror spelade saz och buzuq. Själv började Ali spela darbukka, arabisk trumma, samtidigt som han började skolan. När Ali skulle börja andra klass, dvs. när han var 8 år gammal började han spela trummor på bröllop och mindre fester för att kunna försörja sin familj. Det hände ofta att Ali blödde i händerna då han var tvungen att spela i flera timmar- det var ju hans jobb. När Ali var 13 år gammal började han spela saz då det var lättare instrument att spela i flera timmar i sträck, det var därför han började spela saz på bröllop. Dessutom är instrumentet en viktig del av den kurdiska vardagen- det finns nästan i varje kurdiskt hem i Syrien. Vid 17 års ålder började ryktet om en duktig sazspelare sprida sig i Hassake-regionen. 19 år gammal kallas Ali in för att göra lumpen i huvudstaden Damaskus. Ali hade tur som blev placerad just där, då alla kända studior var där. Ali började visa framfötterna och snart var han känd bland de flesta verksamma musiker i landet. Efter lumpen började Ali även verka utomlands. I bl.a. Beirut och Dubai, som är navet för arabisk popmusik har Ali medverkat i en otalig mängd låtar och skivor, tillhörande många av arabvärldens största stjärnor. En dröm kvarstod dock- att studera musik på en hög akademisk nivå, en dröm som inte var möjlig tidigare efetrsom Ali var tvungen att jobba hela tiden och hjälpa sin familj. I början på år 2012 flyttade Ali till Sverige, efter att ha gift sig med den kända kurdiska sångerskan Narin Feqe. Han började snabbt att ta de steg som krävdes för att förverkliga sin dröm och studera musik, och det gick snabbt. År 2013 började Ali studera folkmusik från andra kulturer på Kungliga Musikhögskolan.

Cette étude s'applique à décrire les différentes modalités de représentation du corps humain dans le roman marocain contemporain. L'image du corps se répartit en deux catégories : l'image du corps féminin et l'image du corps masculin. A l'intérieur de chaque catégorie, nous observons une dichotomie où la beauté s'oppose à la laideur, la fertilité à la stérilité et le bien au mal. Des signes et des symboles font des corps, l'incarnation de l'ange ou de la bête. Il s'agit donc de retrouver, dans cette étude, la trace d'une problématique de l'écriture, des signes, de la narration lorsque ceux-ci prennent le corps pour objet dans l'espace romanesque. Un corps est toujours une représentation d'une personnalité dans le monde. Résoudre le problème du corps, c'est résoudre les problèmes que posent la personnalité et le monde
This research applies to describe the different methods of representation of the human body in the contemporary Moroccan novel. The image of the body is separated in two categories: the female body and the male body. Inside each category, we can notice a dichotomy in which beauty is opposed to ugliness, fertility to sterility, and good to evil. Signs and symbols make bodies to be the incarnation of the angel or the devil. The purpose of this research is to find the elements of questions about writing, signs, narrations when it represents the body as objet in the romantic space. Abstract:

Le roman de Mohamed Toihiri : roman fondateur et représentatif de la littérature comorienne. Son étude nous conduit à affirmer que c’est un roman d’analyse sociologique dans la mesure où il constitue un excellent document sur la vie quotidienne des Comoriens durant près de deux décennies (1975-1992). Mais il serait fort réducteur de le limiter à cela car ce roman ne se contente pas de présenter finement le fonctionnement de la société comorienne, il véhicule aussi une critique socio-politique radicale de celle-ci et de ses gouvernants. Ce roman inscrit son lecteur, de façon très subtile, dans son fonctionnement interne. Ce qui amène le commentateur à étudier cette inscription du lectorat ainsi que la réception de ce même roman qui démontre que si le premier roman de Mohamed Toihiri a été accueilli très froidement du fait de son engagement politique, le deuxième, beaucoup plus conciliant sur le plan politique, a bénéficié d’une réception favorable, voire même élogieuse
Mohamed Toihiri's novel : a founding and representative novel of the Comorian literature. The analysis confoirms it is a sociological novel to the extent that it is a great novel dealing with the Comorians 'daily life for two centuries (1975-1992). But it would be specific to stop there because this novel not only cleverly shows how the Comorian society works, it is also a radical criticism of this socio-political society and of its government. This novel sbtly includes the reader in its internal functioning. Thus the commentator studied this readers inclusion as well as the novel's reception : while his first novel was given a cold welcom due to its political commitment, his second novel, politically softer, received a positive welcome not to say laudatory

Abstract:

This thesis analyses UMNO factionalism from the perspective of the elites manipulation of the various modes of nationalisms. This thesis argues that UMNO factionalism, which is seemingly a power struggle between competing UMNO elites, has been significantly shaped by contesting nationalist ideologies that reflect the unresolved questions of national identity in Malaysia. These two issues, that is, nationalism and UMNO factionalism, have shaped Malaysian politics in significant ways. UMNO factionalism has been related to such major political events as the 1969 ethnic riots, the introduction of the New Economic Policy, the UMNO split in 1987 and the Reformasi (Reform) movement in 1998. Frequently, the impact of these disputes extended beyond UMNO politics and affected wider Malaysian politics. At the same time, due to unresolved questions of national identity, nationalism has occupied a central position in Malaysian political discourse. There are ambiguities regarding the relationships among the various ethnic identities and national identity and between the individual and the larger Malaysian community that enable elites to construct and manipulate nationalist ideologies. In this thesis, the conflicting nationalisms are captured by five different concepts of nationalism ethnocultural, civic and multicultural nationalisms in one group and collectivist-authoritarian and individualistic-libertarian nationalisms in another. The Malaysian Prime Ministers have constructed nationalist ideology to define the Malaysian nation in their attempts to resolve the unresolved problems of national identity. The challengers arguments, to mobilise the community, mirror the communitys (negative) responses to the Malaysian Prime Ministers nationalist visions. In addition, the ideological arguments in the disputes extend the dispute beyond the elites, involving the community as well. Furthermore, because of the ideological conflicts, these factional disputes affect the direction of government policies in significant ways. This study shows that UMNO factional disputes have followed this pattern of ideological conflicts, although the exact contents may vary. The 1969 factional dispute was a clash between Tunku Abdul Rahmans shift towards multicultural nationalism and its challengers ethnocultural nationalism. Tunku Abdul Rahmans nationalist vision moved away from ethnocultural nationalism in pursuit of national integration. The challengers, reflecting the Malay communitys response to the Prime Ministers vision, took a strong ethnocultural Malay nationalist stance. The successful mobilisation of the Malay community by ethnocultural Malay nationalists contributed to the policy shift towards ethnocultural nationalism in the 1970s. In the 1987 dispute, Mahathirs economic policy, which moved away from ethnocultural nationalism, was challenged by Razaleighs ethnocultural nationalist argument. After the dispute, Mahathir could only mobilise the community by tactically employing the rhetoric of ethnocultural Malay nationalism. In the 1990s, Mahathirs attempt to define the national identity of Malaysia by constructing a civic Malaysian nation, Bangsa Malaysia, relieved the tension surrounding the ambiguous national identity of Malaysia. It was facilitated by rapid economic growth that ameliorated ethnic contests over limited economic resources. However, the collectivist-authoritarian aspect of Mahathirs nationalism raised another nationalist question concerning the subordination of individual liberty and rights to the collective communitys will and interests a nationalism that justified his authoritarian rule. There was tension between an increasingly confident civic Malaysian society and Mahathirs collectivist-authoritarian control of the society. The 1998 UMNO dispute was a clash between Mahathirs collectivist-authoritarian nationalism and Anwar Ibrahims individualistic-libertarian nationalism. The latter attempted to mobilise Malaysian society with his nationalist position (the Reformasi movement) which was expressed in the demand for liberal political reform. After the dispute, Mahathir was able to regain lost political ground through the politics of fear. It seems, however, that the fundamental question remains unresolved. This unresolved tension between the demand for individual liberty and rights and authoritarian control by state elites is likely to shape the ideological arguments in future UMNO factional disputes.

Abstract:

Ce travail propose un modèle mathématique permettant de décrire le comportement thixotrope des suspensions de laponite. Ce modèle de comportement est élaboré afin de contrôler les propriétés physicochimiques de la suspension. Dans un premier temps, nous avons utilisé un modèle simple cinétique découlant directement du modèle d'Herschel-Bulkley. Par la suite nous avons mis en avant le modèle à double cinétique développé au cours de ce travail. Par la suite grâce aux techniques de mesures rhéologiques classiques, les protocoles de détermination des paramètres de ces deux modèles ont été mis en place. Une étude à l'échelle locale du comportement du fluide permettait de mieux comprendre comment s'organise la structure de la suspension en écoulement. Dans cette perspective nous avons, grâce à la technique de vélocimétrie par images de particules (PIV), réalisé des mesures de champs de vitesses locales. Ceci nous a permis d'observer le comportement de la suspension dans ses différents états, en écoulement et au repos. De plus, cette étude nous a permis de mettre en évidence dans le cas de la géométrie employée "disques coaxiaux", la formation d'un cône statique dont la taille dépend de la vitesse imposée au disque tournant. L'étude de la validité et de la bonne adéquation du modèle développé passe par une étude comparative mettant en jeux d'une part le modèle déjà existant d'Herschel-Bulkley et notre modèle. Une étude numérique faisant appel au code de calcul commercial Star-CD a été effectuée. Les deux modèles utilisés ont été introduits dans le code et des simulations ont été effectuées. La comparaison entre les résultats des mesures de PIV et les simulations ont mis en évidence que le modèle mis en place est plus représentatif de la physique de l'écoulement de la suspension de laponite que le modèle d'Herschel-Bulkley
We have studied the behaviour of thixotropic fluids : especially the suspension of laponite. The study of the local level of this suspension, with the help of PIV technique, which allows to better understanding how the organisation of suspension structure when the fluid starts to flow. The study of the validation and the good response of the developed model are achieved by a comparative study between the existing model of Herschel-Bulkley and the measuring of velocity fields. In the case of studied geometry “coaxial disks”, the PIV experimental measuring allows us to identify the existence of two distinct layers when the fluid flows. Indeed, we have observed that the first layer is near to the rotating disc where the fluid is motionless and takes the form of a cone which corresponds to a region near the bottom of the cylinder. The use of commercial CFD code Star-CD has enabled us to highlight the limitations of the model of Herschel-Bulkley in relation to the experimental results. These results were used as reference for comparison with the model of dual kinetic behaviour developed in this work. It was shown that the behaviour of the latter model presents a better matching with the actual behaviour of the flowing suspension although some problems still remain

Abstract:

The Swahili novel, a literary genre lately appeared in Tanzania, has undoubtedly found a brilliant and mature expression in the works of the Zanzibarian writer Said Ahmed Mohamed. His novel Utengano, published in 1980, is a unique work in the Swahili literary production of the Seventies and Eighties, with regard to both the themes treated and the very elaborated style of the author, who has given a dense and homogeneous quality to this genre, which is by definition open and composite, totally different from the short story, the organisation of different elements representing a challenge to the capacities of a writer in terms of composition. In this paper I will focus on a feature of Utengano which, in my view, points out to the good achievement of a novel, namely the author`s utterance of a leitmotiv or general abstract idea creating cross-references and symbolic relations between the different levels of a literary text. The leitmotiv I found in Utengano is the idea of dynamism, in other words motion, energy that produces changes, which permeates the whole work unifying the different levels of expression. These latter will be analysed separately to allow a clear exposition, but the dialectical relationship between the `what` and the `how´ represents the key to the reading of this novel.

Abstract:

One of the important research problems in cryptography is the problem of solving multivariate polynomial equations over ﬁnite ﬁelds. The hardness of solving this problem is the measure of the security of many public key cryptosystems as well as of many symmetric cryptosystems, like block and stream ciphers. In recent years, algebraic cryptanalysis has been presented as a method of attacking cryptosystems. This method consists in solving multivariate polynomial systems. Therefore, developing algorithms for solving such systems is a hot research topic. Over the recent years, several algorithms have been proposed to solve multivariate polynomial systems over ﬁnite ﬁelds. A very promising type of these algorithms is based on enlarging a system by generating additional equations and using linear algebra techniques to obtain a solution. Theoretical complexity estimates have shown that algebraic attacks made using these algorithms are infeasible for many realistic applications. This is due to the fact that, in many practical cases, the computations made by these algorithms require a lot of time and memory resources. A big challenge is to improve this algorithm in order to be able to use the limited available memory and time resources to solve large multivariate polynomial systems which exist in practice. In this thesis we propose strategies to improve the enlargement step of these algorithms. We apply these strategies to the well studied XL algorithm, due to its simple structure, and show that combining these strategies with XL makes it highly competitive to the state-of-the-art algorithms. In 2006, Jintai Ding presented the concept of mutant polynomials . Mutants are polynomials of a lower degree than expected that appear during the linear algebra step of XL. The MutantXL algorithm presented in this thesis uses the concept of mutants to improve the solving process of the XL algorithm. The MXL2 algorithm is introduced as an improved version of the MutantXL algorithm by developing a partial enlargement strategy. Speciﬁcally, we modify MutantXL in a way such that when it enlarges the system, it partitions the set of polynomials of the maximal degree D into some subsets using a special criteria. After that it explores this set of polynomials, one subset at a time, without being forced to store the whole set at once. This results in solving systems with fewer number of enlarged polynomials than MutantXL. The main drawback of MXL2, as well as XL and MutantXL algorithms, is that it can solve only systems having a unique solution. In order to solve systems with a ﬁnite number of solutions, we present a new suﬃcient condition for a set of polynomials to be a Gröbner basis . We used this new condition as a termination criteria for the MXL2 algorithm. This modiﬁcation together with further improvements to the enlargement step of MXL2 are introduced in the MXL3 algorithm for computing Gröbner bases. This thesis also introduces the MGB algorithm which uses a ﬂexible partial enlargement strategy to provide an important improvement to MXL3. The preliminary study presented at the end of the thesis suggests a new upper bound for the complexity of computing Gröbner bases which motivates thinking of new paradigms for estimating the complexity of Gröbner bases computation. The results in this thesis show that the proposed strategies dramatically improve the performance of the XL algorithm and, moreover, introduce algorithms that outperform Magma’s implementation of F4, one of the currently most eﬃcient algorithms, in terms of time and memory consumption in many cases. Moreover, an adapted version of MutantXL is used to attack the MQQ cryptosystem faster and uses less memory than attacks using F4.
