Abstract:

Abstract:
A name is one of the essential elements of identity. The choice of a name reflects personal as well as ethnic or religious identity. It is a reflection of individual preferences, cultural traditions and family ties, the social environment. These processes are also evident in a minority environment. The subject of interest of this study are strategies for granting names in Muslim families living in Slovakia. Our aim is to find out how and why parents choose names for their children. We will try to identify the role of individual feelings of parents as they are influenced by customary traditions of the countries from which the child’s parents come. We will be interested in the extent to which the fact that the partners live in Slovakia (mostly a Christian country with a minimal proportion of the Muslim population) contributes to the decision on the name, how it is determined by the existing public opinion about foreigners and Muslims. We present findings of a questionnaire survey with Muslims living in Slovakia or their partners. The participants were mainly people living in ethnically or religiously mixed partnerships, partly homogeneous partnerships or people who lived without a partner.

Abstract:
Unlike most of you, I hope, I have spent quite a lot of time in jail. This is not because I am a criminal, even though those who jailed me have called me a terrorist and worse. It is because I am a campaigner for democracy. I believe everyone has a right to vote and to be represented by a government they choose as free citizens. For that I have spent many years behind bars.

This article describes the issues of post-colonialism in one of contemporary Singaporean literatures Batas langit by Mohamed Latiff Mohamed: Post-colonial issues explored in the present paper are race, ethnicity, and identity. Latiff has successfully obscured his views about Malay people and their culture. His views are somewhat skeptical and pessimistic. However, Latiff has been successfully transforming the existentialism views into his works, and has made him one of the great authors of Singapore.

Abstract:

Abstract:
This paper attempts to examine the thoughts of Mohamed Talbi on hermeneutics based on human history. The concept of humanistic historical hermeneutics is a solution breakthrough to understand a law that is considered to be contrary to the goal rather than the law itself, which is justice. Mohamed Talbi as one of the Muslim scientists in the field of history has provided this understanding of Islam. The thinker is not only in line with the times, but also can not be separated from the basic values taught in Islam itself such as justice, equality, and benefit. Its proven knowledge and clear methodology make us have nothing to lose if we learn the fruits of their thinkers' work. Keywords: Mohamed Talbi, reading history, thoughts, methodology

Welcome to this discussion on “Emerging Accountability Mechanisms: Innovative or Ineffective?” During this session, four expert panelists will examine the evolution and future of so-called “alternative” or “non-traditional” mechanisms that aim to secure accountability for serious violations of international human rights law and international humanitarian law. This category comprises mechanisms with a range of goals and forms, from investigative institutions that prepare evidence to be handed off to criminal courts, to transitional justice mechanisms that seek through non-criminal means to redress violations, prevent a relapse into violence, and facilitate reconciliation.
