For over a century, the origins and mechanisms underlying the diversification of the enormous cosmopolitan genus Carex (>2,100 species; Cariceae, Cyperaceae or sedge family) have remained largely speculative. The phylogeny of Clematis, section Viorna, was characterized in this study using molecular data. Two nuclear introns were sequenced for a variety of taxa: actin and nitrate reductase. Actin intron sequence data yielded very little phylogenetic information. O clado K92 reune opiliões de cinco subfamílias de Gonyleptidae: Caelopyginae, Hernandariinae, Sodreaninae, Progonyleptoidellinae e Gonyleptinae. As duas últimas subfamílias foram recuperadas como grupos não monofiléticos em análises filogenéticas prévias. Esses estudos contaram com uma pequena amostragem do grupo e basearam-se em diferentes conjuntos de dados (morfológicos, moleculares e comportamentais, ecológicos e químicos). Abstract:

Since the human inclination to estimate and trace natural diversity, usable species definitions as well as taxonomical systems are required. As a consequence, the first proposed classification schemes assigned the filamentous and parenchymatous taxa to the green algal order Chaetophorales sensu Wille. The introduction of ultrastructural and molecular methods provided novel insight into algal evolution and generated taxonomic revisions based on phylogenetic inference.
