Monolaurin exposure caused C12:0 cell membrane incorporation. Lactic acid caused increased monolaurin C12:0 membrane incorporation, while nisin had no influence. Abstract:
Cocoa Butter (CB) is a speciality fat required in various products, but its availability is limited and has adverse health effects. Therefore, an alternative to CB is needed. This study aimed to synthesise cocoa butter substitutes (CBS) rich in monolaurin by enzymatic glycerolysis of coconut oil (CNO) and palm stearin (PS) blends. The ratios of CNO to PS used were 7:3, 6:4, and 5:5 (w/w). Several characteristics related to the melting behaviour of CBS were analysed. The results showed that CBS contained monoacylglycerol (MAG) and diacylglycerol (DAG) about 55.89-57.28% and 34.27-39.57%, respec

To combat dangerous infectious diseases in animals, antibiotics and vaccines are widely used. However, antibiotics can cause resistance in microorganisms and the transfer of antibiotic resistance genes from animals to humans, while vaccines do not always provide long-lasting immunity and are often ineffective against new strains of infectious disease pathogens. The feed mixture LAURIT 90, containing the active substance alpha-monolaurin, is used in animal husbandry as a strong natural antibacterial and antiviral agent. Monolaurin is a naturally occurring compound widely utilized in food and cosmetics. In this paper, we present a new method for the synthesis of monolaurin by esterification between lauric acid and glycerol catalyzed by Novozym® 435 using a microreactor. The conversion of lauric acid is 87.04% in 20 min, compared with 70.54% via the batch approach in 5 h. Using an optimized solvent system consisting of t-BuOH/ tert-amyl alcohol (1:1, v/v), the selectivity using the microreactor method is enhanced to 90.63% and the space–time yield of the process is 380.91 g/h/L. The purpose of this study was to determine the impact of removing AGP from broiler feed and study the effect of feed additives. For those countries where in-feed AGP are still permitted, the effect of the products in the presence of AGP was evaluated. Half the number of male broilers received a diet free of AGP, whereas the other half received a diet supplemented with zinc bacitracin at 0.5 g/kg. Both diets were
