The study investigates the month-of-the-year effects in Nepalese stock market employing composite index along with other nine sub-indices between mid-July 17, 2007 and mid-July 15, 2017. The study finds statistically significant highest average monthly returns in the month of Ashad (mid-June - mid-July) among other eleven months. On contrary, the significantly negative return is found in the month of Bhadra (mid-August - mid-September). It indicates that the Nepalese stock market has specific returns patterns showing inefficient in weak-form of market efficiency.

The aim of this paper is to investigate the behavior of implied volatility in the form of day-of-the-week, year-of-the-month and surround the expiration of options. The persistence of volatility is modeled in ARCH/GARCH type framework. The empirical results have shown significant effects of the day-of-the-week, month-of-the-year and day of options expiration. The positive significant Monday effect explains that India VIX rises significantly on the initial days of the market opening, and the significant negative Wednesday effect shows that expected stock market volatility fall through Wednesday

The findings are analysed with the intention of developing investment strategies and to investigate if behavioural finance can help to explain the existence of seasonal anomalies.  Background: A number of previous studies have found evidence of seasonal anomalies in global stock markets, and by challenging the core assumptions of market efficiency, such anomalies may make it possible

Our result shows that the day of the week effect, weekend effect, turn of the year, turn of the month and holiday effect have had an impact on the daily rate of return, both domestic and abroad. Similar to international markets the calendar anomalies in Sweden start to be less prominent during 1980’s. Abstract The possibility of a calendar just did not exist before the invention of counting and a system to express numbers. Without such an intellectual tool, there is no way of assessing the days in a month or a year, and a calendar is impossible. For calendrical purposes we have the day, the month, and the year, and the passage of time can be marked by counting these events. When man’s ability to count had become sufficiently sophisticated, one supposes that people attempted to assess the number of days in a month, of months in a year, and of days in a year.

Abstract:
Abstract There have been several attempts to correlate environmental and site-specific variables with atmospheric corrosivity, including the PACER LIME algorithm and the ISO 9223 classification of corrosive atmospheres. However, seasonal variations in corrosivity at the locations tested in this study cannot be readily explained by either of these approaches. The monthly or seasonal corrosivity variations do not track well with monthly variations in time-of-wetness (TOW) or SO2 concentration. It is possible that the approach of averaging TOW, SO2, or chloride deposition rate over a year- or mon

Abstract This study aims to evaluate the correlation between crack width and apparent corrosion rate in reinforced concrete specimens exposed to a tropical marine environment of very high aggressiveness. Specimens from DURACON project (prismatic 15x15x60 cm), with 0.65 and 0.45 w/c ratios were monitored in this investigation for more than a 6-year period. Six of them have six reinforcing steel bars (rebars) placed at three different depths (two each at 15, 20 and 30 mm) for electrochemical tests, and six specimens without reinforcement were used for concrete destructive testing. This report details the climate (temperature, precipitation, drought, and streamflow) of Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area (NRA) during 2020. Gridded GIS maps are used to present broad-brush conditions across the region for each month. This regional presentation is compared to detailed data from Remote Automated Weather Stations (RAWS), weather stations in Global Historical Climatology Network (GHCN), and data from USGS stream gages. Prior to analysis, a set of data quality control checks were performed by the authors in accordance with an established National Park Service protoc

Abstract:
This article studies the relationship between instantaneous and year-on-year inflation and the benefit of the forecast performance using instantaneous as a predictor. Instantaneous inflation is a transformation of year-on-year inflation, assigning different weights to each month of the Consumer Price Index (CPI) used to calculate the year-on-year inflation. We study the relationship using the Coincident Profile, which allows us to determine whether instantaneous inflation is coincident or anticipates the dynamic of year-on-year inflation. Colombia’s annual inflation reached 13.3% in March 2023, the highest rate since the implementation of the inflation-targeting regime for monetary policy in 2000. However, some groups within the basket show signs of lower inflation, while others exhibit higher inflation. The persistence of this trend is actively debated, involving analysis of both year-to-year and month-to-month changes in price indices. In this paper, we use a time series methodology to identify shifts in inflation levels based on the 188 price indices that comprise the basket. We classify the trend breaks as positive or negat

Abstract:
The common choice of using a direct forecasting scheme implies that the individual predictions ignore information on their cross-horizon dependence. However, this dependence is needed if the forecaster has to construct, based on direct density forecasts, predictive objects that are functions of several horizons (e.g. when constructing annual-average growth rates from quarter-on-quarter growth rates). To address this issue we propose using copulas to combine the individual h-step-ahead predictive distributions into one joint predictive distribution. Our method is particularly appealing to those

Background: Laryngeal cancer is relatively uncommon in Ecuador. Usually epithelial in origin, the most frequent histological type is squamous cell carcinoma. The most common mesenchymal tumor is chondrosarcoma. Most laryngeal chondrosarcomas are treated with total laryngectomy, but a conservative function sparing resection is recommended in low-grade limited tumors. Case Report: In a 68-year-old female nonsmoker patient, a small tumor was found in the posterior left aspect of the cricoid cartilage in a computed tomography (CT) performed immediately after an unexpected difficulty to pass the en

Abstract:
After moving from Europe to China in 2018, the African swine fever (ASF) virus spread throughout China in less than a year after the country’s first outbreaks were reported, dramatically reducing China’s pork supplies. This report investigates the impacts on China’s pork market that resulted from the virus and how China’s increased demand for imported pork affected markets for pork-exporting countries. China’s swine herd experienced a 30-month cycle of decline and recovery, as the country lost an estimated 27.9 million metric tons of its pork output. Pork prices in China more than doubled desp

Drawing upon longitudinal data from the Growing Up in New Zealand (GUiNZ) study, this research looks at the barriers to mothers leaving partners who use violence. The persistence of conflict or abuse experienced by mothers over the antenatal to 9-month period, and over the 54-month to 8-year period was examined. For these two periods, the association between intimate partner violence (IPV) at the start of the period and the relationship breaking up during this period was explored. Key findings include: * mothers with fewer financial resources are less able to leave partners who use violence. T
