Abstract:
A frenum is a fold of mucous membrane, maybe with enclosed muscle fibers, which attaches the lips and cheeks to the alveolar mucosa or gingiva and underlying periosteum. In case of aberrant frenum attachment, it has to be relieved for better function and aesthetics. There are various techniques to relieve aberrant frenum. In this case series, we assessed the outcome of laser frenectomy and VAS scores for pain perception. On comparing all the cases we concluded that the laser frenectomy can be used as a better alternative to the scalpel technique for frenectomy and showed superior results in pa

Pyogenic granuloma is one of the inflammatory hyperplasia seen in the oral cavity. This term is a misnomer because the lesion is unrelated to infection and in reality arises in response to various stimuli such as low- grade local irritation, traumatic injury or hormonal factors. The condition is commonly associated with mature ovarian teratomas. We describe a video report with a classic presentation of anti-NMDA-R encephalitis in a young patient with no identifiable tumor. Purpose: Postnatal depression has significant negative outcomes for both mother and baby. Cognitive-behavioural interventions have proven promising in its treatment, but there are a number of barriers, specific to the postnatal period, which lead to low take-up of treatment. Online interventions may circumvent some of these barriers. However, evidence of long-term follow-up is sparse, in spite of the importance of knowing how such treatments work over the longer-term. Abstract:
Nurse-Led Patient Education to Reduce Hospital Readmission Hospital readmissions within 30 days of discharge are costly issues that negatively impact patient outcomes and healthcare systems. This quality improvement project aimed to reduce 30-day readmissions through a nurse-led educational intervention. The objectives were to improve patient understanding of discharge instructions, enhance adherence to post-discharge care, and achieve at least a 10% reduction in readmission rates. The intervention was designed using evidence-based literature supporting structured education and follow-up in re

Abstract:
Spontaneous tendon ruptures of the wrist are a rare pathology, usually secondary to rheumatoid arthritis or distal radius fractures and most commonly evolving the extensor pollicis longus. Sport-related etiology is a growing tendency of this pathology. As far as the authors know, this is one of the first sport-related extensor carpi radialis brevis (ECRB) isolated spontaneous rupture described in the literature. We describe a case of a 41 year-old female amateur kickboxer who developed acute dorsal radial pain in the right wrist during practice. After attempting conservative treatment for 4 mo

Abstract:
Introduction: beauty trends have increased the demand for aesthetic procedures, especially the use of hyaluronic acid (HA), to rejuvenate the face and enhance lips. This safe and effective treatment hydrates, fills wrinkles, and restores volume to different areas of the face. HA is obtained from non-animal sources, is non-immunogenic, and possesses antioxidant properties. The perioral region, key to facial aging, is highly sought after for correcting wrinkles, folds, and the loss of definition caused by factors such as age, sun exposure, and lifestyle habits. Abstract:
Introduction: skin aging involves collagen fragmentation, which affects the extracellular matrix and accelerates deterioration. Photoaging, caused by ultraviolet radiation, motivates patients to seek corrective treatments. Calcium hydroxyapatite (CaHA) is a biocompatible filler that stimulates collagen production and provides safe and long-lasting results with a low complication rate. Correction of the nasolabial fold (NLF) is key to facial aesthetics, and CaHA has been shown to be effective in improving appearance and rejuvenating the face. Objectives: demonstrate the efficacy and safety of C

Introduction: Intraarticular fractures of the tibial plateau and periarticular fractures of the proximal tibia, caused by high energy trauma pose a therapeutic dilemma. Such fractures are associated with extensive soft tissue damage with or without compound injury. The management of such high velocity injuries become a challenge to the trauma surgeons. The goals of these periarticular fractures management are 1. Restoration of joint congruity by anatomic reduction 2. Stable xation of fractures thus allowing early movements 3. Proper care of injured soft tissues. In earlier days uniplanar exte

Background: Patient-prothesis mismatch (PPM) is a serious potential complication following surgical aortic valve replacement (SAVR). If it develops, valve-in-valve transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) is a reasonable therapeutic option. However, there is low evidence on the management of small degenerated surgical bioprosthetic valves, not prone to balloon-valve fracture (BVF). Case Presentation: This case report presents a successful valve-in-valve TAVR in acute heart failure due to degenerative surgical bioprosthetic valve Trifecta (21 mm) that is not susceptible to BVF. Abstract:
Family violence is a critical development challenge in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs), carrying high health, social, and economic costs and increasing the risk of perpetuating the cycle of violence across generations. Parenting programs have improved parenting practices in high-income countries. However, evidence for LMICs is sparse. This study evaluates an intervention to reduce coercive parenting implemented by the Ministry of National Security of Jamaica, which targeted caregivers of children aged 6 to 15 in vulnerable communities in the country.
